Ta Chiao CT 54
In 1975, Ta Chiao introduced the CT 54, a vessel that would become an icon in the world of cruising sailboats. The CT 54 was designed by Robert Perry in collaboration with John Edwards who commissioned him to do so. The yacht featured a classic ketch rig, a full keel, and a graceful sheer line that drew the admiration of sailors worldwide.

Immersion rate. The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for CT 54 is about 500 kg/cm, alternatively 2802 lbs/inch. Meaning: if you load 500 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 2802 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

The Ct 54 is a heavy sailboat which is under powered. It is not stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a heavy bluewater cruising boat.

Helmanta, It's the mast tie rod and its function is to prevent the deck from moving when the boat is under sail. It should run from the deck to the base of the mast step. On a heavy boat like the CT, it should run to the keel connection. Somewhere I seem to recall that CT's were prown to leaking problems, however in my experience, past a certain age most boats are prown to leaking problems, note the name of my boat.
