With Australian DNA at her core, the 48 meter superyacht BIG SKY was designed and built by renowned yacht builder Oceanfast in Australia in 2010. Now, for the first time she has returned home to provide an unrivalled charter experience on board one of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest and most extraordinary yachts.

Boasting 4 spacious decks for the ultimate in entertaining, the exterior spaces are carefully designed to ensure guests experience the al-fresco lifestyle Australia offers. Starting at the top deck is the jacuzzi integrated into a huge sunbed bar and u-shaped lounge, down to the sky lounge with undercover dining for 11 guests that flows into the huge lounging area for after meal relaxing. The spiral staircase escorts you down to the main deck into a more intimate lounging area, then dual staircases take you down to the vast swim platform where the fun really begins.

The interior spaces of BIG SKY are both sophisticated and modern, her neutral palette appealing to a wide variety of tastes, styles and clientele. The yacht offers a vast selection of lounge areas and dining spaces. Each deck has a fully stocked bar ensuring the crew can service your every need . One of her design highlights is the full beam main saloon creating maximum interior space, boasting huge windows allowing plenty of natural light and views of the stunning scenery.

11 guests will enjoy restful nights at sea aboard BIG SKY due to her zero speed stabilisation system. With five elaborate staterooms, each of which is outfitted with an en-suite bathroom, the master suite is located forward on the main deck, this full-beam sanctuary benefits from abundant natural light courtesy of large windows. The yacht’s additional four staterooms are located below deck and include three queen staterooms, each with walk-around beds, and one double stateroom, which also has a Pullman berth.

Built with Huon Pine planks and spotted gum ribs, Southwinds holds a significant role in English design pedigree as well as Australia’s yachting history.

Designed by Sir Robert Clarke and launched in 1950, she would have been one of the fastest and largest yachts in Sydney Harbour at that time. She has competed in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race and had many notable owners.

Her large windows, expansive decks and rich timbers create a spacious and elegant atmosphere for onboard guests.

Seeing the fireworks from a yacht will ensure you get up close and personal and have the best view in the city.

When it comes to weather, Sydney is quite predictable. The warmer months are commonly from November to February which is when the Harbour is most alive and buzzing with activity.

The cooler months are March to August. Even if you are visiting in the cooler months, make sure to pack swimwear, as it is common to enjoy warm, sunny days during winter.

Fifth body found in search for those missing from sunken superyacht.

Italian authorities say a fifth body has been found in the search for those missing from the “Bayesian” superyacht, which sank off the coast of Sicily earlier in the week.

The head of Sicily’s civil protection agency Salvatore Cocina told CNN on Wednesday that the fifth body had been located on the yacht but has not yet been recovered or identified.

The news comes after four bodies were found by divers earlier Wednesday, though the identities of those found remain unclear.

A CNN team on the ground saw Italian authorities move four body bags from rescue boats to ambulances at the Sicilian port of Porticello earlier on Wednesday.

The British-flagged vessel sank early Monday – killing at least one of 22 people on board – after its mast, one of the world’s tallest, broke in half during a violent storm. Fifteen people were rescued, with six initially reported missing, and one body recovered Monday - thought to be that of the onboard chef Ricardo Thomas.

The six individuals reported missing are British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah Lynch; Morgan Stanley International director Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, Judy Bloomer; prominent American lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife, Neda Morvillo.

Security camera footage has shown the moments before a tornado sank the 56-meter-long (184-foot) yacht. As rain lashes down on the port, the grainy video shows the boat being battered by the storm, rocking violently from side to side before capsizing.

CNN has not been able to independently verify the location or date of the video but the profile of the ship pictured in the footage appears to match the design of the Bayesian.

Angela Barcares, Mike Lynch’s wife, survived. Speaking to the Italian daily La Repubblica while sitting in a wheelchair in a Sicilian hospital, Bacares said she was woken at 4 a.m. local time as the boat tilted.

She said she and her husband were initially not concerned, but became worried when the windows of the yacht shattered.

The yacht sank after a small waterspout – a type of tornado – spun over the Mediterranean island, likely capsizing the boat, which was anchored about a half a mile from the port of Porticello. Eyewitnesses described furious gales and hurricane winds that left a mountain of debris near the pier.

One witness, the owner of a villa looking out to where the Bayesian was anchored, said that after news of the sinking yacht emerged, he watched back his CCTV footage, where the boat could be seen sinking.

“In just 60 seconds, you can see the ship disappear,” he told Italian outlet ANSA. “You can see clearly what’s happening. There was nothing that could be done for the vessel. It disappeared in a very short time.”

Since the ship sank Monday, emergency crews have attempted to make their way further inside the wreck, with hopes of finding survivors dwindling.

On Tuesday, divers were able to access the inside of the wreck, including some of the room’s under the yacht’s control bridge. But the operations are “complex” due to numerous obstacles and narrow passages inside the ship, the brigade said, adding that Wednesday’s operation would attempt to open some of those passages.

Emergency crews resumed their search for missing people on Wednesday and have begun to inspect the ship’s lounges, ANSA reported.

Complicating rescue efforts is the short time divers can spend at the wreck site, thought to be around 50 meters underwater (approximately 150 feet). Divers have warned they only have up to 12 minutes to reach and explore the site before having to resurface.

Three days on from the wreck, investigators are still at a loss as to how the ship sank so quickly. Matthew Schanck, chair of the Maritime Search and Rescue Council, said Tuesday that such events are exceedingly rare.

“Looking at the extreme weather, if it was a water spout, which it appears to be, it’s what I would class as a black swan event,” he said, referring to a rare, unpredictable occurence. “Even outside of the maritime industry, all industries struggle with the black swan events,” he added.

And while Sicily isn’t “renowned” for tornadoes or water spouts, “there is a risk” they can happen – just not every day, Schanck said.

“I think it’s important to see what comes out that may suggest changes to vessel construction, vessel stability, potentially,” he said, stressing that shipbuilding regulations “are all designed with safety in mind.”

Italian rescue teams are expected to continue their search at dawn tomorrow after concluding their search for the day.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) said it will deploy a team of four inspectors to Palermo to conduct a preliminary assessment of the scene.

The Bayesian, an award-winning superyacht, sank during bad weather off the coast of Sicily in the early hours of Monday.

On Thursday, authorities confirmed divers had found the bodies of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, Morgan Stanley International boss Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy, and one of Mr Lynch's lawyers Chris Morvillo, and his wife Neda.

Recaldo Thomas, the on-board chef, was the first to be confirmed dead earlier this week.

Mr Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, was rescued along with 14 others - including Charlotte Golunski, a mother who told la Repubblica she held her one-year-old baby above the waves to save her from drowning.

Mr Lynch's 18-year-old daughter Hannah is still missing.

But what do we know about the ship?

The British-flagged 56-metre ship - previously called the Salute - was built in 2008 by Italian shipyard Perini Navi, and refitted in 2020.

Its 72-metre mast was the world's tallest aluminium mast, and the second-tallest overall. The yacht could reach a maximum speed of 15 knots and weighed 543 tonnes.

The French design house Remi Tessier fitted out the Japanese-style interior decor, with touches of light and dark beige and dark wood furnishings, as well as a teak deck.

It won the best exterior styling at The World Superyacht Awards in 2009, and best interior at the International Superyacht Society Awards 2008.

It had six guest bedrooms - one master, three doubles, and two twins - holding 12 people, and could carry another 10 crew members.

Pictures show air conditioning units in several of the bedrooms, which could counter expert claims open windows may have caused water to rush in and tip the boat over faster.

Shipspotting.com says it was owned by a firm called Revtom Limited. Mike Lynch's wife, Ms Bacares, is named as the sole shareholder of the firm on company documents.

The yacht's name would resonate with Mr Lynch because his PhD thesis and the software that made his fortune involved a statistical method known as Bayesian inference, based on an 18th-century theory, which helps forecasters predict outcomes more reliably.
