€3,000/ week for 8 people.
€549/day in the high season and €450/day in the low season for 11 people.

What is the best time of year for Kotor yacht rental?
The best time for sailing in Kotor is between May and September. This is when the city is warmest and driest, as it can get quite rainy at other points in the year. The hottest months are in the summer, with average high temperatures of 28°C however, this is also the busiest time for travel, meaning large crowds. If you don’t mind slightly cooler weather then you should visit in May or September and avoid the summer. You’ll still have plenty of sun, and you’ll even get better deals on Kotor boat rentals!
What can I see and do while on a yacht charter in Kotor?
There is no shortage of things to do in Kotor! This gorgeous city is an up-and-coming travel destination because it offers a wealth of natural beauty and culture to explore. Here is a list of some of our favourite things to do while on a yacht charter in Kotor.
- Go deep-water diving in the Blue Cave: This breathtaking cave has been formed by centuries of erosion, creating a unique underwater landscape that’s ideal for deep-water diving. The cave is known for its stunning array of colours and marine life, making it one of the best diving spots in Kotor.
- Discover a shipwreck at Jaz Beach: This is another popular spot for divers who want to enjoy long stretches of untouched coral reefs and explore the remains of an ancient Roman shipwreck. Just a few kilometres away from the beach lies Perast Island, home to some of the most beautiful dive sites in the region. Here divers can come across fascinating rock formations and an array of colourful fish species, including octopus and sea turtles!
- Sunbathe on pristine beaches: There are many great beaches in Kotor, each one with something different to offer. Head to the southern end of the Bay of Kotor to relax at the secluded Lovcen Beach and if you want a little more action you can go cliff diving! Other great beaches in Kotor offer watersports activities like kayaking, surfing and snorkelling. Some of the best beaches include Plavi Horizonti, Petrovac Beach, Becici and Sutomore Beach.
- Get in touch with nature: Sail to Lake Skadar National Park. As one of the largest freshwater reserves in Europe, this is a great opportunity for nature lovers and bird watchers alike. Explore the marshlands by boat and keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of rare species like the Dalmatian Pelican or White-Backed Woodpecker.
Should I have a skipper on board my private boat charter in Kotor?
If you have a licence to sail, you might prefer a bareboat vessel however, everyone can benefit from the presence of a skipper on board. Skippers can act as an extra set of hands while you do all of the sailing, or they can take the helm if you want to relax and spend more time with the ones you love. If you don’t have a sailing licence, no problem! Skippers will handle all of the logistics such as docking, anchoring and navigating the vessel, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. The other great thing about having a skipper on board is the fact that they are usually locals, so they can give you advice about where to go and what to see while in Kotor and if you’re lucky, show you some hidden gems.
For an unforgettable sailing holiday and smooth sailing, opt for a skippered vessel for your private yacht rental in Kotor!
What type of boat should I choose for my Kotor yacht rental?
When choosing the right vessel for your sailing holiday, it’s important to think about how much time you’ll be spending on the water, and what you’ll need on board. Daily charters like motorboats and RIBS are recommended for holidays of less than a week whereas a more spacious vessel is ideal for a week or more. Catamarans and yachts are perfect vessels for longer holidays and they have plenty of amenities on board to accommodate all of your needs.
If you fancy a traditional sailing experience, you might like a sailboat however, we recommend choosing a skippered sailboat since these vessels are notorious for being unstable on the water and difficult to navigate. So, which vessel will you choose for your yacht rental in Kotor?

Table of Contents
Rimmed by rugged limestone mountains and sleepy waterside villages, Kotor Bay is a 28-kilometer-long meandering inlet. We are sometimes referred to as Europe’s southernmost fjord, though it is a submerged river valley. We took a Sailing Kotor Bay, Montenegro trip to find out more.
Kotor Bay | Porto Montenegro marina in Tivat
We set sail from Porto Montenegro , a 450-berth super-yacht marina in Tivat. Besides the moorings, it’s home to the Regent Porto Montenegro hotel, chic boutiques, and a magnificent 64-meter infinity pool. There’s also a tiny Maritime Heritage Museum, where you can look inside a submarine.
Luštica peninsular
From here, most visitors head straight for Unesco-listed Kotor Town, protected by medieval fortifications deep inside the bay. But we wanted to explore the less-visited waters around Luštica peninsular. Historically, Luštica’s fertile olive groves supplied olive oil to Venice. Under Yugoslavia (1945-2003), it was a Yugoslav military base, so tourism never developed here. But that is changing fast, as several luxury resorts are now planned.
Mamula Fortress
We sailed out of Kotor Bay into the glistening blue Adriatic. The mouth of the bay is guarded by three sturdy 19th-century fortresses built by Austro-Hungary. Arza on Luštica, Oštro on Prevlaka, and between them, on a tiny islet, Mamula, which is currently under renovation. With its unique location, Mamula Fortress is being turned into a 23-room boutique hotel with a spa, heliport, and casino.
Luštica’s south coast gives onto open waters dotted with several peaceful little coves. The first you come to is Dobreč. Indeed it has a pebble beach, accessible only by boat, and the Dobreč restaurant is backed by trees hung with hammocks. Here we dropped anchor to swim in a translucent turquoise sea.
But we couldn’t stop long. We wanted to reach the Blue Cave around noon when the sun was at its peak. It’s hidden at the foot of rocky cliffs; it can be accessed via two openings. In the dinghy, we passed through the larger entrance, some 3 meters high and 15 meters wide. Initially, it seemed dark, but as our eyes adjusted, we found ourselves in a domed space bathed in turquoise light. It was an extraordinary experience to snorkel in this magical cavern.
Mirišta beach
We backtracked to Mirišta beach, where we moored up for lunch at Mirišta restaurant . Garlicky Spaghetti with clams, followed by grilled seabream and salad. Nearby, Ribarsko Selo is also very popular with yachters, but you must reserve well in advance.
Savina winery
Sailing back into Kotor Bay, we stopped in the little port below the town of Herceg Novi. We took a taxi up to the Serbian Orthodox Savina Monastery. It has a medieval and a larger 18th-century Baroque church; both hung with golden icons. Then we visited the Savina Winery to tour their vineyards and wine tasting. We bought two bottles to bring home – their white Chardonnay (2019) and red Merlot (2016). Both were prize winners at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2021. We arrived back at Porto Montenegro marina just before sunset.

What an AMAZING experience
What an AMAZING experience What an AMAZING experience. We’ve just returned from a week long skippered charter from Corfu, sailing around the beautiful islands of the Ionian. Paxos, Antipaxos and Corfu Old Town were beautiful and the secluded bays we had the pleasure of visiting thanks to our local skipper, Nicholas, were simply overwhelming. Fly and flops are no longer for us - we’ll be chartering with DYC for the foreseeable future. Shout out to our skipper who made the holiday as fantastic as it was. We couldn’t have asked for a better week.
Date of experience : 02 July 2022
Yachts in very dangerous condition.
Chartered a yacht in kotor last year. The yacht was so poorly turned out. Lots of gear missing, took ages to get more equipment on the boat. In the end we sailed away with lots of stuff not on board. During the week we noticed there was a gas leak. As I searched for the cause of the gas I found that previous repairs had been attempted including a band aid sticking plaster!! Absolute danger. On return to the base we found that the fuel station was closed to dreamyacht charter boats. Strange ?! We were told we would have to pay €200 to have it refuelled by the local rep! ( for about €40 worth of fuel. I sensed a rip off. When I constantly challenged this the refuel cost was reduced?! But I had to sign a positive feedback form ( blackmail in my opinion) !! On return to the uk I rang the head office, mainly to be sure that the gas leak had been done as it was a massive explosion risk. Head office did not want to know. Didn’t reply to my calls. Never again. Not when they endanger life.
Date of experience : 01 June 2020
We had a rip-off
We had booked a cabin cruise on their own catamaran in the Maldives (10 days), asking for guarantees that the boat was in good condition (we had always had "alternate" experiences with them in the other Cruises made in the past years: Dream Yacht Charter has beautiful boats and new but also old carts), and we ask (and pay) for the Superior. We are sent reassuring photos and we trust them. Unfortunately when we arrived in Male and saw the boat, we had to give up the holiday. I omit to report the long process to request compensation .... I only mention the fact that at the end of two years they offer us a voucher of 3.496 euros (but we spent 4,400, not counting the re-purchase of a plane ticket for the early return) spendable within a certain period of time (a few months). Better than nothing: we are satisfied and we try, between their availability and our free time, a cruise that we can do. At the end of grueling negotiations on the "when" (we work in the summer so it was a matter of choosing between the winter destinations a place where we had not already been), and given that several Cruises in the winter have their very low season period, it was not easy. Finally we find a viable cruise, which cost even a lot more than the Voucher (and of course we would have integrated the price), we fill in the request form and we wait for a reply. The Italian branch of the Charter Company will reply within an hour, complimenting us on the fact that we would have taken advantage of a last-minute low-cost deal (there was a 20% discount ..... a sign that the boat was not full). We explain that our contact person for this reservation was mrs Dorothee (who had followed the whole story of the Voucher) and we wait for reply to proceed with the air tickets (there were a couple of weeks to the departure date). From that moment on the most thunderous silence !!! Against all convenience (adding a cabin that was occupied on a half-empty boat, collecting a price even if partial, and above all closing this unpleasant event with elegance) we no longer felt them. Don't expect elegance from them if something goes wrong: at this point, this is just the first of 3496 bad reviews I will publish about them.
