Vessel History

C.Y. Chen, the founder of Hampton Yachts, loved the ocean. An avid sailor, he turned his passion for the ocean into a thriving enterprise hand-building ocean going sailboats. When the global market for sailboats declined, the Chen family applied their expertise to building ocean going 

motor  yachts.

You enter the boat through either the port or starboard boarding gates or up the port side step from the swim platform. The aft deck and side decks are large and the aft deck features wicker furniture with thick cushions. Through the sliding aft deck doors you enter the main salon. To port is a dinette with custom table top and storage under the bottom cushions. Along the port side is a long built-in settee and stand. There is storage under the settee cushions. Along the starboard side is a cabinet with flat screen TV, the entertainment system, ice maker, storage cabinets and two wine racks. Forward is a cabinet for storage, glass and liquor. Aft and to starboard is a semi-circular stairway to the master cabin with a protective teak railing.

The master cabin is massive and features a centered king berth with port and starboard nightstands. There is an aft opening hatch that can be covered with cabinet doors. There is a small settee along the starboard side as well as storage cabinets and hanging lockers. To port is a large cabinet with storage drawers, hanging lockers and storage shelve above. Behind the entry doorway s a large full size hanging locker. The large ensuite head is to port and features a separate shower stall, electric toilet, mirrored vanity and stainless steel sink and cabinet storage.

From the salon and up a step forward is the galley and pilothouse area. The aft pilothouse is separated from the salon by using a beautiful railing. The pilothouse door is along the port side. The galley is L shaped and offers appliances one would see in a home. The counter tops are Corian. Ample storage is under the counter. Along the starboard side and aft is a storage cabinet and the navigation station. The helm is forward and offers excellent visibility.

Down another set of steps you enter the lower area that was once the galley and the VIP stateroom. Built into the bulkheads down the steps are storage areas for mops, brooms, and vacuum. The older galley area still has the stainless steel sink and faucet, countertops with fiddles, cabinets and drawers for storage. In the cabinet that once had the refrigerator, it now features a stacked Maytag full size washer and dryer. The area could be easily converted back to a full galley.

All the way forward is the VIP stateroom with a centered queen berth. The port and starboard sides offer storage cabinets and drawers and there is a small settee along the port side. The lower head is private and offers a separate shower stall, electric toilet and mirrored vanity and storage cabinet. The sole is covered with a removable teak grate.

The middle staterooms are down steps forward and along the starboard side of the salon. At the foot of the steps and to port is the guest stateroom with a queen sized berth against the outboard bulkhead. Under the berth are storage drawers and inboard is a built-in night stand with cabinet. There are two opening ports. Along the forward wall are cabinets and drawers for storage and shelving above. Private access into the shared head is forward. The hanging locker is inboard and offers access into the engine room through a wall hatch hidden from view.

The crew quarters are at the foot of the steps and starboard. There are twin upper and lower berths and a hanging locker and storage cabinets. There are storage drawers under the lower berth and a built-in night stand. There are two opening ports. Private access into the shared head.

The shared head is larger than most home bathrooms. The head offers a separate shower stall with opening port, mirrored vanity with storage underneath, mirrored medicine cabinet, stainless steel sink and electric toilet. The sole is covered with a removable teak grate.

Flybridge access is up a stainless steel and teak tread ladder on the aft deck. The bridge deck is large and can handle a crowd. The double helm seat is centered and helm navigation and engine instrumentation is hidden away for protection and lifts up for use. Aft of the built-in helm seat is a storage cabinet with cabinets and an ice maker. The visibility is excellent. Along the port and starboard sides are long settees with storage under the bottom cushions. A teak table is fixed along the aft bridge deck and the Avon RIB is located aft on chocks. The dingy lift is located on the port side of the aft. Covering the bridge deck is a raised light green Sunbrella bimini with full enclosure.

Originally designed with the galley down, a prior owner re-configured the vessel and changed galley area to up in the pilothouse. The original galley remains down and could be converted back to the original design by simply adding appliances. Sink and cabinets all remain.

Chattanooga Man Sentenced to 60 Months in Prison for Defrauding Elderly Widow with Dementia of $1.2 Million

NASHVILLE – Karl Hampton, 65, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was sentenced to 60 months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay over $1.2 million in restitution for executing a scheme to defraud an elderly widow who had dementia, announced Henry C. Leventis, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee.

Hampton and his wife Deborah, both formerly of Franklin, Tennessee, were indicted in June 2021 on multiple counts of conspiracy and money laundering and Karl Hampton was also charged with eight counts of wire fraud.  After a week-long jury trial in April 2023, Karl Hampton was convicted on all counts.

At trial, the evidence showed that Karl Hampton met the 86-year-old widow while he was working as an exterminator for a pest control company based in Nashville. Between January 2018 and February 2020, Karl Hampton tricked the woman into believing that he would care for her personally and financially. Hampton held himself out to the woman and others as her “personal representative,” her “son” or “godson,” and pretended that he was acting on her behalf.  In April 2019, Hampton convinced her to sign over her Power of Attorney and to name him in her Revocable Living Trust and in her will.  He then methodically drained the woman’s bank accounts, took out a $500,000 line of credit in her name, and amassed huge charges on her credit cards for his own personal expenses.

Some of the funds Hampton stole came from two investment accounts that belonged to the estate of the woman’s deceased sister. Those funds were supposed to be split between the woman and another individual. Instead, Hampton transferred the funds to himself.

In total, Hampton took more than $1.2 million. from the woman’s accounts in the form of checks, cashier’s checks, and bank transfers, cash withdrawals, and using the woman’s credit card for his own benefit.  Hampton frequently purchased luxury items, including a car and a luxury SUV, and a 4.3-karat diamond ring that cost more than $21,000. Hampton often spent over $1,000 per day in cash buying lottery tickets.

Deborah Hampton pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering on February 13, 2023. She was sentenced to time served, 3 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $21,000.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Memphis Field Office, Nashville Resident Agency.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathryn Booth prosecuted the case.

Up 3 steps from the salon, galley and wet bar, is the full beam pilothouse with sliding doors either side to the side decks. The lower helm is forward in the pilothouse and has a full complement of electronics including; Furuno NavNet 2 with GPS color charting, Furuno Radar, Furuno GPS Navigator, Raytheon Digital depth, ICOM M-127 VHF and Robertson Autopilot. There are also Morse cable controls, furnace controls for the Webasto diesel furnace, rudder angle indicator and ships intercom system. Aft and to port is the leather pilothouse settee with seating for 3. There is easy access to the ships electrical ac/dc panels and generator controls to starboard. Stairs lead down to the two cabins and heads. The guest stateroom with queen island berth on center (NEW custom mattress and linens), is forward and has it's own ensuite head with separate stall shower and NEW Masterflush toilet, private to the guest cabin. There is a roomy hanging locker and lots of small cabinets for guests storage.

The master stateroom and master head span the full beam and is aft of the guest and located in the widest part of the hull and where it's the most quiet. The master head with separate stall shower, sink, vanity and NEW Masterflush toilet is starboard across from the master queen berth (NEW custom mattress and linens) which runs athwart ship and has a vanity /desk forward and hanging locker and drawers, aft. The master head is private to the master cabin. From the pilothouse there are 5 stairs leading up and aft to the flying bridge with helm on center. There is a helm seat with weather cover, Morse cable engine controls, NEW Sidepower bow and stern thrusters, Glendinning synchronizer, Intercom, Raytheon Digital depth, Robertson autopilot controls, Furuno GPS navigator, Ritchie wet compass and remote control for the windlass.

The flying bridge is accessed from the pilothouse up 5 steps and aft. There is also a ladder on the starboard side of the cockpit. Here you'll find a complete set of VDO engine gages and VDO rudder angle indicator and a Furuno GPS Navigator. There are also Morse controls, switch for Glendinning synchronizers and switch for the remote windlass, an ICOM M50 VHF, Raytheon digital depth finder as well as a bracket for the Furuno NavNet 2 so it can be used on the Hampton 490 Pilothouse bridge in fair weather.
