Norfolk Broads Webcam at The River Bure, Wroxham

The Broads cover over one hundred square miles of Norfolk with interconnected rivers and waterways. It’s one of the best spots in the UK for pleasure sailing when you haven’t got a clue about navigating a craft on water. You can even stay afloat, sleep on a boat there for a week or two and you won’t get lost even if you don’t know how to read a compass.

No, you can’t see all of it on this Broads webcam streamed by Barnes Brinkcraft from Wroxham, but you will see the River Bure, their boatyard and a couple of bridges. This live feed can come in quite handy if you’re planning on cruising the Broads. You can choose your boat before you go. If not, then just enjoy the views of boats, boats, more boats, a few ducks and if you’re lucky, a flock of swans.

Potter Heigham

Potter Heigham is a pretty village located on the River Thurne in the heart of the Norfolk Broads and boasts it’s own medieval bridge dating back to 1385, located right next to Herbert Woods Marina. From the marina you can pick up your cruiser for a 3 night or more boating holiday or a day boat hire or stay in a stunning waterside cottage, some with a second storey with amazing river and countryside views.

Potter Heigham has lots to offer on it’s door step to those choosing a holiday staying or departing from here can sample the newly opened and popular pub and restaurant opposite, a fish and chip shop, a discount store where you can fill up on essential provisions, a long stretch of fishing spots (and a tackle store a stones throw from the front door!), the famous Weavers Way walk and an amazing tea room also located opposite Herbert Woods, perfect for resting those tired legs.

Norfolk’s Weather

Norfolk is one of the driest counties in the UK and see’s less than 700mm of rainfall a year which is fairly even across the year and some areas seeing less than 600mm. Max. temperatures range from 5–10 °C in the winter months to 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) in summer months. With the Norfolk Broads being flat in nature, temperatures can reach 35 °C (95 °F). Total sunshine hours are also higher with the coast being close by.

Every season on the Broads offers something spectacular to see. Summer is a popular choice of travel with longer daylight hours offering more cruising time & stunning late sunsets, but Spring offers a quieter time to travel the Broads with emerging wildlife in abundance & popular with fishermen whilst pike season is at its peak. Autumn on the Norfolk Broads is very picturesque with changing autumnal colours and a photo opportunity at every turn. You’re quite likely to spot an otter at this time of year too. Winter surprisingly is a popular choice of boating holiday. Think crisp sunny days with mirror like reflections on the Broads, pubs with roaring fires, plentiful mooring spots & migratory birds to be seen almost everywhere.

There’s so much to see and do on the Norfolk Broads, even those that permanently reside in the area are spoilt for choice. From stunning  walks ,  cycle routes  (you can even bring cycles with you on holiday on selected boats),  wildlife watching ,  fishing ,  places of interest  from historical 200 year old windmills, castles and abbeys to the fun of the circus, not to mention the fantastic array of local waterside  eateries  with many using locally sourced food and drink so you can really soak up a piece of Norfolk.

We take particular pride in promoting all aspects of competitive racing as well as encouraging a more leisurely and relaxed sail on Wednesday evenings. What could be better than sampling fresh fish and chips from the Clubhouse after a good evenings sail?
