Wider Yachts Unveils a 92-Foot Catamaran That Can Cruise Emissions Free Using Solar Power

Wider Yachts , which started the trend of fold-out platforms for yachts , is moving into the power catamaran field, with the launch of a new 92-footer. The Italian yard said that it worked with studio Luca Dini on the interior and exterior designs.

Wider recently announced that it had purchased a shipyard in Fano, Italy. CEO Marcello Maggi said the first 92 would be launched in January 2023. Five units are under construction.

“Making a 92-foot catamaran look beautiful was quite a challenge,” said Maggi in a statement. “So we worked with the designer Luca Dini to make this boat look very smooth and thin.”

The RINA-classed yacht will have a beam of about 39 feet, which is about the same size as the 80-foot power cat from competitor Sunreef .

But the Wider, living up to its name, will have the advantage of expandable side decks. The 720-square foot beach club at the stern, for instance, has foldout balconies that increase the size. Several of the staterooms also connect to the swim platforms.

The designers at Luca Dini chose a contemporary palette for the colors, using open space in the salon that takes advantage of the wide beam. Features like a Teppanyaki grill in the dining area as well as alfresco lounges for eating outdoors are designed to meld the interior and exterior spaces.

The four-stateroom layout can accommodate eight guests, and there are crew quarters for four. Wider is offering the option of a five-cabin design for yachts headed to the charter market. An outdoor Jacuzzi and tender garage that accommodates both a 15-foot tender and personal watercraft are also part of the design.

Wider embraced sustainability before most other yacht builders, incorporating a hybrid diesel-electric engine in its first superyacht . It also announced plans to build a yacht with a hydrogen fuel cell. This 92 will have solar panels and battery packs that allow zero-emissions, silent cruising. The boat will have a top speed of 15 knots and range of 3,000 nautical miles at eight knots.

The new Wider 92 will start at about $8.74 million.

Wider, nuovi investimenti e rinnovo dell’immagine

Sulla scia della ricapitalizzazione del 2021 da parte di Marcello Maggi e della holding W-Fin Sarl, il cantiere marchigiano Wider ha svelato i suoi ultimi sviluppi, volti a consolidare il suo status nel panorama nautico (in apertura: Widercat 92).

Grazie a importanti investimenti finanziari, Wider ha dato il via a una nuova era attraverso un radicale rebranding , la costruzione di una nuova facility all’avanguardia a Fano , un hub dedicato ai superyacht a Venezia e molto altro. A un anno dalla ricapitalizzazione, Wider ha superato tutti gli obiettivi che si era preposto a settembre 2021.

La storia del cantiere parte con il Wider 42 per poi passare ai superyacht ibridi, come il 50m M/Y Cecilia . Ora il team vuole rilanciare l’immagine del brand rilancia l’immagine con un nuovo logo, una nuova identity e un nuovo sito web.

Nuovi impianti a Fano

A gennaio 2022 Wider ha annunciato i piani per una nuova facility a Fano . La struttura, destinata a sorgere su uno spazio di 11mila metri quadrati, sarà fronte mare ed edificata nell’area compresa tra i pescherecci del porto storico e il porto turistico, con un’ampia banchina lunga quasi 100 metri.

Dedicato principalmente alla costruzione dei catamarani della serie Wider, il cantiere di Fano include un centro di innovazione in cui idee, nuove tecnologie e iniziative eco-compatibili prenderanno vita utilizzando materiali sostenibili come legno e vetro, riducendo quindi al minimo l’impatto sull’ambiente circostante.

Posata la chiglia di Moonflower a Venezia 

Il cantiere è inoltre orgoglioso di annunciare la posa della chiglia del primo progetto nel nuovissimo hub dedicato ai superyacht e ai progetti full custom a Venezia: Moonflower 72.

Radicale sia nel design che nel concept, Moonflower 72 è il primo superyacht ibrido firmato dalla nuova generazione Wider. Caratterizzato dagli esterni del rinomato studio Nauta Design , la costruzione dello yacht è ben avviata e dovrebbe essere completata nel 2025. Moonflower 72 è solo il primo yacht full-custom a essere costruito nel sito di Venezia.

Widercat 92

Il WiderCat 92, primo di una gamma di catamarani progettata da Luca Dini e dal Centro Stile Wider,  ha già venduto cinque unità. Il primo scafo sarà completato nel 2023 e rimarrà in Europa per debuttare al Cannes Yachting Festival 2023, altri due sono in consegna negli Stati Uniti anche grazie alla partnership di Wider con MarineMax, il suo rivenditore esclusivo per il Nord America.

Gli scafi e i ponti del WiderCat 92 sono attualmente in fase di laminazione e saranno assemblati e uniti a novembre 2022, prima che inizino i lavori sul ponte inferiore (impianti e arredi). Sono stati completati anche i modelli delle due sovrastrutture, con l’avvio a breve anche della costruzione degli stampi.

Serial hybrid propulsion system 

Wider è stato il primo a introdurre la “Serial Hybrid Propulsion” nel segmento dei superyacht da crociera. Questa soluzione offre una notevole autonomia di crociera “eco” e tutti i vantaggi di un sistema ibrido completo per lo yacht, comprese le funzioni “hotel” che possono funzionare per molte ore senza generatori, tutta la notte e il giorno successivo, eliminando così rumori, vibrazioni e fumi.

La tecnologia di Wider è green, poiché si basa su un pacchetto software di gestione dell’alimentazione sviluppato specificamente e brevettato per l’ambiente marino. Sempre flessibile, l’engineering di Wider ha concepito la tecnologia in modo che possa facilmente integrare ulteriori sviluppi ed essere installata con facilità sia su catamarani che su superyacht.

The WIDER 125 is designed to offer exceptional range and spacious living space without compromising the clean modern lines that WIDER are known for. The WIDER 125 retains the same distinctive style as the rest of the company’s superyachts, providing generous and flexible living space with two different layout options available to cater for national preferences.

Outdoor relaxation areas are in abundance. The upper aft deck is kept free for sun loungers and exterior furniture. Forward of the wheelhouse, a large seating recess is carved into the superstructure. For those who prefer to relax closer to the water, the stern garage opens and the aft swimming platform extends to create a plunge pool and expansive beach club.

LAYOUTS TO SUIT YOUR LIFESTYLE A maximum of 12 guests are accommodated in 5 cabins. The owners suite, on the main deck, as well as four staterooms on the lower deck that stretch further aft than on a traditional yacht of this size, well into the area usually reserved for an engine room. There are two different options for the galley location, to cater to regional preferences. The WIDER 125 has an ample beam of 26’ (7.93m) making the main deck saloon remarkably airy and light, with floor to ceiling windows on either side that let the light flood in. The bulwarks drop down allowing guests to enjoy uninterrupted views of the ocean even while seated.

On the upper deck, aft of the wheelhouse, a sky lounge leads out to an inviting aft deck. Sliding full-height glass panels can divide the two areas, when necessary, or open to create an impressive indoor/outdoor sun deck, ideal for entertaining

The master stateroom is on the main deck, and a high bow allows this to extend forward without spoiling the sleek lines of the yacht. The owner’s study is situated further aft and includes TV and desk area.

Although a new company, Wider Yachts USA embodies over 30 years of yachting industry passion and experience and we look forward to providing an exclusive high level of service to all Wider customers. Two doors away from CRN is the Wider facility, which has offices and a single bay shed, that fit the all alloy 50m, hybrid diesel electric vessel, the second in a series of larger custom diesel hybrid yachts by Wider. The first vessel, The Wider 150 launched in the spring of 2016. These vessels have been personally inspected by the Worth team. Launched in 2018: Hull #2, the 165’ is very similar in style and functionality of the 150’, with some major modifications:

• Touch-and-go helipad on the large foredeck, which can convert to a large entertaining space forward of the built-in seating and Jacuzzi in front of the wheelhouse.
• The already large transom “beach-club”  houses a 32’ Wider fiberglass “production” tender.
• There is a large master suite on the forward main-deck, which consists of a gym, with sauna and bathroom (which can be converted to a 6 th stateroom), this space has an opening balcony to the sea. An owners study, also with a “one button” opening balcony and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
• A lot of time and effort has been put into sound insulation and vibration control, with a fully floating interior and a lot of sound suppression materials. The dB readings on the 150 were 39dB in the master at anchor.

Wider launches its first WiLder 60, stirring the wilder side in us all

• The first WiLder 60 has launched at Wider Vision Hub in Fano, Italy
• WiLder is the new brand of Wider, bringing custom superyacht-standard design and build to an 18.9-metre all-aluminium model with an incredible level of finishing
• The shipyard, with this second launch in less than a month, confirms its path of growth

Like a debutante who steals the limelight at the season’s pinnacle party, so Wider’s debut of the stunning WiLder 60 has set the bar for 2024 with the launch of the first unit at the Wider Vision Hub, the brand’s new shipyard in Fano, Italy.

Delivering superyacht levels of custom finish and supermodel looks in a thrill-a-minute high-performance package, the WiLder 60 is the apogee of boating brilliance – a stunningly designed and realized hull married to exceptional exterior spaces and exquisite interior styling and finishing, conceived to appeal to the wilder side in us all.

With design coming from Wider Centro Stile, the in-house design team, the first WiLder 60 is a showcase in Wider’s commitment to excellence and the genius of its new WiLder brand.

“The launch of the first WiLder 60 in Fano is not just a milestone for Wider and for the WiLder brand, but also represents a leap forward in what a 60-footer can offer and how can be built,” says Marcello Maggi, at the helm of W-Fin Sarl, the holding company that owns 100% of Wider equity. “Everything about the WiLder 60 is extraordinary, from her 40knot performance to her totally custom layout and finish. This is superyacht-standard bespoke building but offered in an 18.9-metre all-aluminium model, with zero compromise on quality for zero-compromise owners. There’s simply nothing else like her.”

First among equals

The first WiLder 60 has been built for a European owner and her custom layout and finish has been completed to the owner’s exacting specifications. Coupled to the performance hull, which was developed by the naval architecture team at Wider Engineering, is an interior that features two twin guest suites amidships plus a forward owner’s cabin with inviting centreline double and starboard-side ensuite. Between the two is a saloon equipped with designer galley cabinet and a relaxation area with sofa and television.

Interior touches include luxurious leathers in contrasting shades of beige, marbles, brilliantly conceived lighting and beautiful gloss finishes that draw on Wider’s extensive experience building some of the world’s finest superyachts. The sumptuous and sensual textiles and textures hint at elegant debauchery – the very essence of the WiLder 60’s raison d’être.

Up top, the WiLder’s appeal to the wild side is clear –there’s a forward party deck, aft social deck with sunpads and alfresco dining area, and a central helm. From here, the owner will be able to fully enjoy the sparkling performance of the WiLder 60, propelled by twin MAN V8 1300 engines, achieving a cruising speed of 35 knots and a maximum speed of 40 knots. A 325-nautical-mile range ensures that no party is too far.

“The WiLder 60 is a seductress for those owners who want to experience the very best in everything – design, quality, and wild fun on the water,” says Marcello Maggi. “This is tailor-made taken to the next level in a model we think is transformative in its size bracket. The WiLder 60 was wild as a concept – the sort of challenge that Wider loves to embrace – but this first launch proves that we can build something beyond an owner’s wildest dreams, even at 19 metres.”

While the first WiLder 60 was launched at the Fano Vision Hub, where the testing of new models takes place, the WiLder series will be built at Wider’s Superyacht Hub in Venice, where two more bespoke WiLder 60s – each set to stun on their respective launches – are already in build.

The much-anticipated arrival of the first WiLder 60 also marks Wider’s second significant milestone in this 2024, following the launch of the WiderCat92, the brand’s first multihull. Both these striking additions to the Wider fleet are not only symbolic of engineering and design talent that lies within the company, but also of its path of growth from groundbreaking superyachts into all areas of the bespoke yacht market.
