Founded in 1902, the Cottage Park Yacht Club is a boating center situated in Boston Harbor. Our club’s mission is to foster a sense of community and promote social culture among boating enthusiasts in the surrounding area.

While over 40% of our membership are boat owners, the cottage park yacht club is truly an organization that embraces family and community participation by offering various activities beyond boating, such as candlepin bowling leagues, dart league, billiards, social functions, adult and youth sailing programs, family dinners, and book club., whether you’re an experienced sailor, just getting started, or not a sailor at all, we have something for everyone., this week at the cpyc.

Winthrop Yacht Club is a Modern Marina with slips for 167 Boats. Our Lounge and grill is for members and MBYCA visitors. We are very proud of our active youth sailing program. The Winthrop Yacht Club is the oldest yacht club in Winthrop. It was founded in 1884 by eight men living and summering in Winthrop. From this humble beginning the WYC has grown to a club with over 700 members.

Another affordable option for the budget bride, our contact was Megan Noonan ([email protected]) who was fantastic. She provided a folder for us that showed what a typical wedding set up would be like and a picture of what a wedding before looked like. For $1250, you get: -5 hours -views of the water on the outdoor deck, great for cocktails -a stage -hardwood floors and beautiful wood beam ceilings -full kitchen -upper and lower floors -tables and chairs If you just want the upper floor which includes the outdoor deck, it is $975. They set up and clean up and provide the alcohol. There are no candles, open flames, sparklers, glitter, silly string, helium balloons or ice sculptures, but they do allow you to put up decorations with scotch tape. The bartender costs $75. While we didn't like the fact that they would be the ones to provide the alcohol, they said that the WYC is very fair in terms of price. We loved that it was along the water, had an outdoor deck with a clear view of Boston, had a nice adjoining bar, we could select our own caterer and had a nearby park (Seal's Park) with a wide space for an outdoor ceremony. We didn't like that there were airplanes that could be heard, no bridal room to get changed and not handicap accessible (there are stairs going to the centennial hall which might be difficult for Grandma or Gramps). But this place is very affordable and Megan is really easy to work with.

If you want to taste the best steak tips you have ever had, get an application and join....or make friends with a member.

First off, the Yacht Club is members only... so either get an app or make friends with a member. My buddy's father is a member and they've lived in Winthrop their whole lives, so we were all friendly with the staff and members. It was our go-to watering hole while we lived in Winthrop (our place was a 10min walk). The drinks are cheap and strong, and as a bonus the food is pretty good as well.

From the moment we stepped foot on the dock we were made to feel very unwelcome. This is the most unfriendly YC we have visited. The food was OK but when I ordered the bartender just said "it's a 45 minute wait"vs. taking my order. We will never go back there again.

Yacht clubs are an important institution on the Boston waterfront, and they are famous for being among the oldest in the country. For example, the South Boston Yacht Club was founded in 1868 and was one of the first 20 yacht clubs in the country to open its doors. Incidentally, most waterfronts in the West and South of the United States are served by marinas, but that is less so in Boston. Instead, many boaters join a local yacht club, and there are over 70 of them around Boston to choose from.

Most yacht clubs operate on a membership basis, and rules and fees vary a great deal among clubs. Each yacht club is a unique organisation with its own traditions, ideas, and membership. However, most clubs provide the most essential services to boaters, like docking, mooring, launch services, racing programmes, youth programmes, and social events. Increasingly, yacht clubs offer both regular memberships and social memberships. The latter accommodates folks who do not use the boating facilities of the club but simply want to be part of the social events and privileges of the club. Such memberships are generally half the cost of a regular membership.

Membership fees vary and depend a lot on the location, size, and type of facilities of the club. Many clubs also require a one-time initiation fee. Some yacht clubs are easy to join; others have a waiting list and may require recommendations by other members.

Many yacht clubs rent out their facilities to non-members, offering their attractive waterfront venues for weddings, birthdays, or functions.
