It takes into consideration "reported" sail area, displacement and length at waterline. The higher the number the faster speed prediction for the boat. Chicago. Oct 1, 2020. #10. I raced on a Goman Express for 3 years, around the bouys and much offshore including 3 Chi-Macs. On early hull numbers, the keel step had a defect and had to be reworked. Of course on any 30 + year old boat that would be an item of close scrutiny anyway.

I'm looking for input from sailors who have sailed the C&C 30 (Mark I) and the Goman Express 30 for comparison purposes. These boats have similar specs.

The Express 30 is equipped with a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel. The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.37 - 1.47 meter (4.49 - 4.79 ft) dependent on the load.

I'm wondering what size engine you have (had) on yours as mine has an older Merc 6hp that needs replacing. I am looking at the Honda 9.9 and it's a great engine, but a bit heavier (49kg).
