An Elegant Nautical Naval Wedding at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Zach (35 and a naval aviator, Lieutenant) and Monica (35 and a Navy supply officer, Lieutenant Commander) ran into each other while stationed on the same ship, but they didn't go on a date until two years later when they met through a dating website. Monica says she fell for the chocolate lab in one of his profile pictures. Though communicating via email, they soon realized that they had been deployed together and instantly remembered having met on the ship. They dated for ten months, a few of which were long distance when Monica moved to North Carolina to pursue her MBA at Duke. During her first stressful semester, Zach took her on a trip to the Biltmore Estate, where they rode in a hot air balloon before taking a tour of the mansion. At the very top, underneath the American flag, Zach proposed--and even had a photographer standing by to preserve the memory. The two naval officers appropriately decided on a classic nautical wedding theme at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club, a private club overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Monica says, "I had always dreamed of getting married on the water, at sunset, acoustic guitar playing, with cafe lights strewn above the cocktail hour and a big white tent for the reception--and the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club had it all!" Luckily, Monica's father (also a naval officer) is a collector of nautical antiques, so he provided almost all of the decor, including oil lanterns, wooden sailor figurines, and Japanese glass fishing floats. For favors and place cards, Monica and Zach gave their guests blue glass sailboat votive candles. Monica carried a blue and purple brooch bouquet to save and pass down as an heirloom. Most significantly, Zach and his squadron built the wedding arch with trees from Zach's farm and decorated it with white fabric with roses and lavender. In keeping with the military theme, the couple surprised their guests with an ice luge in the shape of an F-18 Hornet, the same plane Zach flew in the Navy. "We didn't want any part of our wedding to be traditional or 'cookie-cutter,' so we went to great lengths to personalize our details and ensure the wedding represented us as a couple," Monica explains.

Nate and Megan currently live in Virginia Beach and Nate’s family has long history in the Virginia Beach oceanfront area, so it was the perfect place for their elegant wedding! And they chose two iconic spots to spend their day- rehearsal dinner and getting ready at The Cavalier Hotel and wedding at the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club. Both spots offered the perfect elegant setting for their wedding day!

Kelly and Ryan’s love story has been one in the works for quite a few years, now. I remember learning how these two met, and my heart melted, because of just how perfect fate was for them. God has had his hands on this love story and it is very apparent.

Rewind some years ago, Ryan was actually Kelly’s sisters friend first! So Heather knew Ryan lived in California and when Kelly accepted a job in California, Heather immediately thought to have them meet up, so Ryan could show Kelly around, and so Kel wouldn’t be all alone out there! Well, being touristy turned into dinner,  dinner turned into drinks, drinks turned into long conversations and the night ended with, “When can I see you again?” How romantic is that?! Ry and Kelly haven’t been separated since! Adorable.

Kelly and Ryan, thank you so much for trusting me to document your amazing wedding celebration! I had the best time getting to know you, and going through this season of life with you! It has been a blast, and I cant wait to see the plans God has for you and your marriage in the future!

Jacqueline & Will’s Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club Wedding

Jacqueline and Will’s Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club wedding weekend started off with a gorgeous garden rehearsal dinner along Virginia Beach. They gathered their bridal party, close family, and friends to share in their last night before saying I do! Check out their rehearsal dinner here!

How it all began…

Will had recently relocated to Ohio for work when he found himself out with friends at a local pub. Jacqueline had just moved back to Ohio for work as well and found herself at the same pub as a handsome Mr. Dickey. Over beers and a football game with mutual friends, they hit it off!

A few years later Will and Jacqueline decided to buy a house. After signing the ink hand dried on the closing papers they were going to have a simple night at home with dinner and a fire to celebrate! Well, at least that’s what Jacqueline thought was happening. Will on the other hand, had bigger plans. After the champagne popped, Will popped the question and asked Jacqueline to be his wife! She obviously said yes!! And so did her pug Arnie!

The Wedding at The Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club…

Jacqueline and Will gathered their friends and family at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club for a Labor Day weekend wedding! They were married right on the water, overlooking the beautiful Cavalier marina, on the edge of the 18th hole. The wind off the water created the perfect breeze as the sun provided the perfect 86 degree day. They couldn’t have planned a more perfect September day!

When asked, Jacqueline said the moment Will see’s her for the first time was the moment she looked forward to the most. That moment didn’t disappoint! Will took one look at her and I don’t believe his eyes ever left her the whole night. Honestly, I caught him stealing looks at her all day and my heart was incredibly happy.

Their reception was nothing short of a par-tay!! Their band, The Queen City Band kept the dance floor packed from start to finish! Let’s rewind of a minute, one of the most cherished moments during the reception was the toasts. Jacqueline’s two Maid of Honors reminded her of their made-up childhood last names, and how she at one time or another convinced them to run some sort of crazy race! Her Maid of Honor even included two personal notes, folded in true 90s middle school fashion, filled with memories about Arnie’s birthday parties, who they saw themselves marrying as kids, and their beautiful friendship. Last but not least was Will’s best man, his dad wrote a poem just for the occasion! Talk about the perfect gift!

To send them off right their guests showered them with bubbles that lead them to their getaway boat! What a perfect ending to the best Labor Day Weekend Ever!

Elegant White + Gold Waterfront Wedding

Alyssa and Jared were married at the  Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club in Virginia Beach. Alyssa walked down an aisle lined with baby’s breath to a gorgeous waterfront gazebo where she and Jared exchanged their vows below hanging chandeliers. Their reception was painted in ivory, pale pink, and gold with both tall and short centerpieces of roses and hydrangea, and we are completely in love with their beautiful gold-tipped rosette cake by Shockley’s Sweet Shoppe . The entire event was elegant and incredibly romantic and was captured beautifully by  Andi Grant Photography !

Timeless Virginia WEDDING FLORAL DESIGN 

My favorite virginia wedding venues , williamsburg summer wedding, 12 business tasks to outsource, pink & blush ombre styled shoot.

Kelly and Drew had a gorgeous wedding day at the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia! The spectacular, nautical waterfront venue was the perfect scenic backdrop for their outdoor ceremony. Kelly and Drew envisioned a classic, neutral color palette with shades of white and blush and lots of dramatic greenery. To bring their vision to life, we used blush ranunculus, anemones (the bride’s favorite flower), and a mix of garden roses, as well as olive and eucalyptus greenery. The effect was simply stunning! The bouquets were tied off with our Cappuccino silk ribbon, which perfectly complemented Kelly’s amazing wedding dress.

To really make a statement in the reception space, we used more ranunculus and garden roses, paired with rich olive and eucalyptus leaves, to design lush floral centerpieces surrounded by votives for a romantic, candlelit effect. It all turned out gorgeous! Kelly and Drew’s wedding day was photographed by Molly Scott Photography , who did an amazing job, and I loved working with the staff at the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club ! Kelly and Drew are just the sweetest couple – I was honored and overjoyed to be part of their special day! Jennifer and Brian had so many lovely details at their wedding. The bride wore her grandmother’s ring on her right hand throughout the wedding day. Also, the bride and groom exchanged personal notes before the wedding ceremony. The bride and groom both went to Virginia Tech and entered the wedding reception in style! At the end of the evening, the couple had a grand bubble exit.
