It’s safe to say Feadship motor yacht JOY is unlike any other 70-meter vessel in the charter marketplace today.  She has a completely fresh perspective on appearance and function. The yacht has radical exterior styling. She is truly a one-of-a-kind superyacht.  In JOY, Feadship built a yacht with an amazing wealth of exterior spaces. These fuse with a contemporary, classic interior.

Prior to building Feadship yacht JOY, her owner was new to yachting and a first-time yacht owner. He instructed the famed Dutch builder to “…create something totally different from every other yacht.”  To achieve this, the builder turned to the design team at Bannenberg & Rowell. Subsequently the first collaboration between this studio and the builder. The result is a dynamic exterior, characterized by levels of sculpted surfaces. The sculpted, complex surfaces, combined with the yacht’s stretched dimensions creates a unique profile that looks different from various angles. One observer described the yacht’s appearance as, “Reminiscent of a USS fleet spacecraft about to set off at warp speed.”

STUDIO INDIGO

Important to note, this was a first for the yard.  Interior design and ondeck furnishing commissions go to the architects at Studio Indigo. The vessel’s use as a wellness yacht charter platform is unique.  The owner created an open-air apartment-styled environment. Specifically, one that leads to a feeling of tranquility and harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces.   The studio paid great attention to each guest area.  The designer used 250 different types of finishes and textures. Specifically, in the decoration and styling. Moving about from deck to deck reveals a minimalist environment.  It is highly-detailed and truly captures the concepts of wellness and a harmonious lifestyle.

GUEST AREAS

As most time during a yacht charter is spent above deck, with friends and family, charter guests will find the exterior guest areas a welcome delight. The yacht’s compact superstructure allowed the design team to create spacious outdoor areas – ideal for entertaining at night and enjoying spa-like wellness activities during the day. There are numerous covered and fully exposed areas for socializing, dining, and exercising. There’s even a modified basketball court on the foredeck, with safety nets to protect the guests and gather in any errant shots.

To further fuse the indoors and outdoors, some external spaces, like the Wellness Garden seating area on the Owner’s deck, have air conditioning.

Interior Design

Inside, Studio Indigo was responsible for JOY’s vibrant interior that includes an extremely flexible cabin layout for up to 12 guests in seven cabins. A centrally located cantilevered timber spiral staircase that wraps around a glass elevator connects each deck and sets the tone, providing a reference point for guests no matter where they are on the yacht.

The meticulous planning of every detail to create a rich palette of colour and luxurious styling has been achieved by commissioning each piece of furniture, cushion, artwork and accessory, creating memorable spaces throughout the yacht. The result is a showcase of some of the best craftsmanship and yacht workmanship available.

JOY’s accommodation layout is extremely versatile and is easily tailored to suit groups of all sizes. She is able to welcome up to 12 guests in seven beautifully styled cabins, including the show stopping master suite which boasts 270-degree views and direct access onto the owner’s private terrace, 1 VIP stateroom, 4 double cabins and 1 twin cabin. The lower deck transom door folds down to create a spacious swim platform where guests can access the water, sunbathe or disembark from the tender to access the main deck aft via the stairs.

The aft is furnished with a curving sofa and elevated dining table, while the foredeck has a broad sunpad where guests can rest and enjoy uninterrupted views. The flybridge hosts a Williams Turbojet 385 tender along the aft with a Davit crane for easy launch and retrieval. The amidships section has another seating area with a table for drinks or casual alfresco dining, and the forward area is fitted with the outdoor helm station with an additional seat for a co-pilot.

The interiors styled by Guido de Groot use Pennsylvania walnut and Zebrano wood with a neutral colour scheme. Blending contemporary and classic elements, free-standing side tables, neo-classical lamps and framed artwork adds a homely appeal.

The lower deck hosts the guest and crew accommodation, while on the main deck the formal dining area is placed to starboard behind the helm station. The aft lounge is placed to port and is furnished with a C-shaped sofa around a coffee table with a cabinet opposite. Spotlights on the ceiling provide an abundance of light after sundown, and wall sconces and table lamps enhance the ambiance.

JOY Specifications

Three Volvo Penta IPS800 is capable of a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 18.4 knots.

Yacht Accommodation

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 6 guests across 3 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 1 VIP stateroom and 1 twin cabin, all located on the lower deck. The crew of 2 will provide excellent service throughout the cruise.

The 40.8m/133'10" motor yacht 'Joy' was built by Benetti in Italy at their Viareggio shipyard. Her interior is styled by American designer design house Bonetti/Kozerski and she was delivered to her owner in May 2021. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of RWD.

Guest Accommodation

Joy has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites. The master suite incorporates its own study and dressing room. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Her features include a gym and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Joy is built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MAN (V12-1400) 12-cylinder 1,400hp engines running at 2300rpm, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of up to 4,000 nautical miles from her 45,000 litre fuel tanks at 11 knots. Her low draft of 2.14m/7' makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 8,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) C ✠ HULL ● MACH classification society rules.
