Things to do - general

Located where the Taurus mountain range meets the Mediterranean, Göcek is a stunning and secluded harbour. Largely a destination for boating holidays and sailing, the town hasn’t been developed and so retains a genuine charm. It’s small and friendly and you don’t have to look far to find a boating enthusiast!

With six marinas and hundreds of boats and yachts, Göcek is a world-famous centre for yachting, thanks in no small part to the delights of the surrounding Turkish Riviera. It’s not only a great stop but a great starting point, with Kekova, Kaş, Ölüdeniz and Yassica Islands all within reach as well as the paradise-like coves of Göcek Bay itself.

You can reach Göcek from Dalaman Airport in 25 minutes and we can organise transfers.  Visit Airport Transfers to find out more.

Gulet Cruise route Gocek – Marmaris – Gocek

Gulet Cruise route Gocek – Marmaris – Gocek

7 nights gocek yacht charter itinerary.

Gocek

International Dalaman Airport is only 20 km away from to the town center. The Gocek region in Fethiye Gulf has numerous beautiful coves and islands and is extremely popular among the yachts or boats/gullets on the Blue Cruise. In Gocek there are four marinas where all services are available for yachts. The Göcek coves and islands are the meeting place of Turkey’s and the world’s “high society”. Boats that compete in luxury with each other sail through out the region. Göcek is a calm and quite village where tall buildings has not been granted. The tourism activity of Gocek can said to be almost fully focused around the marina, with all the restaurants and shops being around the quay. The walking trail on the seaside that existed until recently has been removed after becoming shabby. By setting up new paths with a design in harmony with the environment, both locals and foreigners can be at peace with the sea. You can stay in Göcek, this corner of heaven of Turkey, and have a full holiday.

Yassi Islands

This group of islands are so small that no one could came up with names for each of them. They are together known as Yassicalar . There are no facilites on the islands. On the largest island of the group the beach is near the point and forms a small pool, excellent for children. One is able to swim between the different islets, the closest being just 12 metres distance. If you can swim for half an hour, you can visit four different islands and, if you have shoes with you, you can walk over on each of them.

Tersane Island

On your trip you come across a monitoring tower and a shipyard, a tersane in Turkish, after which the island is named. Tersane Island (Shipyard Island) is the largest island in the Gulf of Gocek and Tersane cove is the largerst on the gulf. After the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1922, the area was mainly inhabited by Greeks. In the flat lands behind the cove are the ruins of a few houses and a church. With a walk of ten minutes you can get to another cove. Sailors call the two coves “summer” and “winter”, both of which are popular stopping points for daily boat tours and the Blue Cruise.

Aga Port / Kocabuk

When you get towards the Gocek Gulf, the most popular destinations are AGA PORT and KOCABUK. The Aga Port consists of one small an done large harbour. Both end in a beach area. Those who follow the path upwards from Buyuk (Large) Aga port can get to Roman and Byzantine ruins in the Koyici region. Another leads you up the hill to the west and to the point of the Kapidag Peninsula that has a lake on the park. There are three or five houses around the lake, and a terrific view from above. After Aga Port you get to Kocabuk, Gobun Island and then to the Gulf of Gocek . The coves and the islands in the gulf have been declared a Special Environment Protected Region since 1988.

Iztuzu / Kaunos / Dalyan

The coast of Iztuzu became World famous thanks to the Caretta Caretta turtles. On one side of the coast are the Iztuzu beach facilities and on the other side are the Dalyanagzi day-outing beach facilities. This beautiful coast goes on four kilometres on end. There are suitable places high enough to take photographs as one gets closer to the beach. This panorama includes all of the delta and the coast. Iztuzu, quite apart from the Caretta Caretta turtles, is simply a wonderful gift of nature. And they come to the beach on here coast to lay their eggs. Their lenght is about 1-1.5 metres and they weigh as much as 150 kg. There is magnificent scenery of in a type seen in labyrinths, with the 5.4 kilometre along coast going round and round the marshes. On the coast around Dalyan during all seasons the turtles ranging up to one metre in lenght can be seen.

The ancient city of Kaunos / Optional Tour

From the wharf near the ruins reachable from Dalyan by boat it is just a 10 minutes walk to the ruins of the ancient city of Kaunos. Those coming by yachts can drop anchor around Delikli Ada and go ashore by small boat. Kaunos was a significant trading port, through it lost its strategic importance as the alluvial sands filled the harbour. According to the father of history, Heredots, the people of Kaunos were natives of Caria who considered themselves to be Cretans. The rock tombs that can be seen from as far as Dalyan were built in 4 BC and were also used during the Roman period later. In Lycian type tombs the dead were placed on rock beds.

The cute little holiday destination known as Dalyan is located on the shores of the fjord like natural channel, called Calbis in ancient times, which links Lake Köycegiz to the sea. With the start of tourism development in recent years and threat of the danger to the environment led to the area being declared by the state as a special protection district in 1998. This measure helped to protect the region from over development. The village of Dalyan, without a change in its natural beauty for many years, is today still very far from the threat of excessive development.

Boats are all lined up along the channel in Dalyan. These channel are no more than places to cruise around and see as far as they are concerned. The boats are used as a private or shared boats for rent to enable tourista to the see the Iztuzu coast, the ancient city of Kaunos, the rock tombs and the sites of mud baths.

Kumlubuk / Kadirga

Kumlubuk is famous for its beautiful beaches that you could spare one of your evenings or mornings to walk to the ancient city of Amos, which is half an hour on foot from Kumlubuk. Amos was one of the most important ancient cities of its time, though today little remains. On the narrow and long flat space on the hill top above the gravel beach between Hisar Burnu (Fortress Point) and Kumubuk, you will see the theatre and the cith walls. The necropolis of the ancient city is leaning on the hillside above the small cove to the North. However, you will be more impressed by the stunning view below you rather than the ruins.

The Kadirga Cove, which is right before Kadirga point and on which there is a white lighthouse and the house of the keper, is another stopping plaxe. Boats coming from Marmaris take a swimming break in here.

Marmaris

Marmaris is one of the rare towns in Turkey where you can swim right in the city centre, despite the increased construction, as enviromental and water treatment facilites have been installed. For those who seek cleaner seas and quieter spots there are many gulet trips that go to other bays. Stroll and explore the bustling Marmaris bazaar, getting the feeling of being in Asia Minor. Marmaris in recent years has spread out with new hotels and apartments but the old centre still retains its village atmosphere. Marmaris has a great choice of shops and restaurants many with an international flavour. The most important historic building in the town centre is the castle. The first castle built on this site was constructed up by the Ionians, with the present castle you see being built by the Ottomans in 1522. After the Ottoman Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent conquered the city in 1522, many buildings were built which are still visitabl today. Apart from its clean sea and shopping, Marmaris is also famous for its nightlife.

Ekincik

One of the main stopping points for the gulets that cruise along bays between Marmaris and Gocek is Ekincik Cove. First you will see through the beautiful village of Ekincik, surrounded by gree. And than you get into the cove itself, which is extremely clean and has not been suffocated by heavy building. You are surrounded by forests while in front of you there is the beach and the sea. The beach is very beautiful and the water very clean. On its western part, among the popular stopping or overnighting coves there are Semizce, Kargi and Karacay. There are two anchoring points in the port of Ekincik. One of them is Köy Önü (In front of the village) In the area where the road meets the beach there is a quay where yachts can moor.

Sarigerme

Sarigerme, with its close proximity to Dalaman and with more modern accommodation facilities being built, has found itself as a centre of tourism in a region fast becoming internationally popular. The interaction of pine trees and the coast of Sarigerme, with its fine sand againist the backdrop of beautiful pine trees, has continued for centuries. Visiting gulets anchor in the rocky small cove on the North east of Baba Island. The sea is clean and shiny. A cave close to the northern end of the island crosses the island from one side to the other. On the top of the hill there is the ruin of a tower. The flat Dalaman Plateau begins to increase in height as you get to the Kapidag Peninsula, reaching an altitude of 500 meters before Kurtoglu Point. After this area, the Gulf of Fethiye calm waters begin. The 13,5 kilometres opening between Kurtoglu and Iblis is the mouth of the gulf. This gulf has the most popular coves and islands for the Blue Cruise gulet yachts .

Gobun & Cleopatra Coves (Hamam Bay)

Gobun cove is to the South of Domuz Island. It has a very narrow entrance, and is a long cove surrounded with pine and olive trees. Those who go ashore at the end point of the cove will come across ancient ruins and rock tombs. Even though its not being on the route of Daily trip boats , it is a much loved stopping point for boats and yachts on the Blue Cruise.

This is the region where Kapi (Door) and the Hamam (The Bath of Cleopatra) Coves are to be found, very popular points on the Gocek tour. Both the Hamam and the Kapi Coves are like swimming pools. This island is one of the bay that the boats and yachts on the Blue Cruise cannot pass without visiting. The Blue Cruisers love to spend the night here. Those who take a stroll among the olive trees come across a wall of four or five meters high. The Wall, although some parts are falling down, is still fairly well preserved and was built to protect the ancient cities above Kapidag and runs all the way across the neck. Those who get on top and follow the route parallel to the wall can get a view of the port of Gokgemile and open sea. Another path leads wanderers to Hamam Cove. boats/gulets mooring in the port of Hamam can see the ruins of a bath. These ruins are believed to be the ones Cleopatra has once bathed in so this is why this cove is also known as the Cove of Cleopatra. Right next to the quay you will see the ruins of a monastery, which is partly under water. You may enjoy having a pleasant walk on the shore and in the forest if you get off the gulets.

Domuz Island

It is believed that it has taken its name from the wild boars living on that island once upon a time. The island is also called Prince Island referring to a prince living on here. The island is covered with pine and olive trees. There is a shallow area of 30 to 40 metres in diameter in the middle of the cove where there are ruins from the Lycian and Roman ages. The highest of the ruins are a meter below the surfaceof the water. It is very pleasant to swim over the ruins, especially when wearing the googles. Yachts can easily anchor and moor in the cove of the island as it is sheltered from the winds.

Bedri Rahmi Bay (Taskaya Cove)

The Taskaya Bay is one of the most beautiful coves of the region. There are always numbers of yacht moored there. There is a fountain with sweat water, a gravel stone beach lined with oleander, a Picture of a fish by famous Turkish artist Bedri Rahmi Eyübo?lu who was one of the early sailors of the Blue Cruise and the Picture of a kite made from gravel by another artist, Azra Erhat. All these features add interest to the region. To the North of the fountain there are the tombs cut into the rock and, in the flat area, there is a restaurant serving to the boats and a spring of cold spring water. The spring is surrounded with a concrete Wall and has been turned into a small pool. On hot summer days the pool attracts many people.

One way Gocek to Bodrum Gulet Charter Route

gocek gulet charter

With Dalaman International airport only 20- minutes away, Gocek is a jewel of a town nestled between Fethiye and Dalyan. What puts Gocek on the map is its 6 marinas and the bay area is also a harbor for islands that provide ample anchorage for many yachts. This amazing harbor town is home to Super Yachts and is a great starting point for many a  yacht charter  in the Mediterranean.

Within the Gulf of Fethiye lies the twin bays of Aga Limani. This is a wonderful place to anchor, and are prefect for swimming, fishing and just enjoying the day. The waters here are cool since they are connected to an underwater fresh water stream that comes down from the mountains. The seawater here is crystal clear, but if you prefer to visit inland, then take an hours walk to the ancient city of Lyda. There you will find a lot of archeological discoveries and the path leading there is exceptionally delightful.

Just a short sail away from Oludeniz is Gokemile Bay. This is a lovely place to visit, and a short walk to the top of the island will provide you with a panoramic view of the entire area with all its coves and bays.

gocek gulet charter

Between Marmaris and Dalyan lays the wonderful bay of Ekincik. What is most beautiful in this bay is small Iztuzu Beach. Iztuzu Beach is closed at night since it is a nesting ground for the loggerhead turtle, otherwise it provides a carefree pebble and sand beach environment during the day, when only a few  gulets  are moored off its side. Just after the beach you will find the Dalyan Delta, and this is an explorers dream, with its Lycian tombs and the ancient ruined city of Kaunos. If you prefer a more active respite, then take to some of the water sports offered in the bay of Ekincik. Apart from these three activities, which should be enough, there is also a short brisk walk along the western banks of the Delta that will provide you with a chance to spot a wild boar foraging for food.

gocek gulet charter

One of the nice spots of  gulet holidays  is Kadirga Harbor. Just west of Marmaris you come to the blue flag awarded and shelter Kadirga Harbour. Aptly awarded since it has amazing clear waters and provides a nice respite for a quick dip.

Right between the Aegean and Mediterranean sea sits the small inhabited islet of Arap. This spot of nature has a small village called Taşlıca, and when you anchor off the beach, you can just stretch your legs for a 3.5km walk to town on this quiet island and experience the silence of nature.

One of the popular and frequently used sites for Blue Cruises is Serce. This lovely town has an amazing sheltered harbor, and this is the reason for the pristine clear waters. The area is steeped in ancient history and many of the local finds are now housed in Bodrum’s underwater archelogy museum. Just sailing into Serce is an experience worth waiting for, and along the way, many amazing and memorable views are provided. Nearby Serce are the ancient towns of Kirkkuylar and Sidilli, in which you will find over 40 cisterns that provided fresh water to the inhabitants of this area.

gocek gulet charter

Bozburun is a lovely small town 45kms west of Marmaris. It is home to a small but modern marina and the town is famous for its shipbuilding industry. This is where some of the worlds finest wooden boats and  Gulets  are fabricated. This is a quite port town, and the way to reach it is as picturesque as the town itself. Boxburun is great for a relaxing evening, this means you will not find night life here. What you will find are amazing hotels, cafes, bars and restaurants all serving local cuisine using the freshest sea food and locally farmed produce.

gocek gulet charter

Nestled between the Gulf of Hisaronu and the Aegean Sea is Dirsekbuku. This area has a lot of sheltered bays and hidden coves and is a great spot for a stop over while  gulet sailing  from Bodrum to Marmaris. There are quite a number of small islands to sail by and anchor off for a swim, or just to laze away the time relaxing with a perfect view.

Aktur bay in the Datca peninsula has received an amazing accolade as the best bay in Turkey. This is some achievement and should not be discounted. Aktur is located between Datca and Kurucabuk and is the narrowest part of the peninsula. Two spheres of water held at bay by a slim slice of land.  The Persian army back in 550BC (Xerxes and the 300) built a tunnel so he could connect directly to the Gulf of Gokova to speed up his fleets attacking capabilities. Today Aktur bay is a vision of beauty that many try to emulate, perhaps that is why it is awarded so highly.

One of the popular coastal stops is Datca, a small southern shore yachting stop over 75kms west of Marmaris. Datca is located in an area that provides you with many small covers along the peninsula, so you can anchor along the coastline and enjoy a swim in the privacy of your own cove. The coast is dotted with small fishing villages and farming towns, and the local tomatoes and olives are famous for their depth of taste.  While visiting Datca, enjoy some local produce and maybe even ask your chef to use it as a staple ingredient.

gocek gulet charter

At the 8th day of your  luxury gulet charter , you will visit Palamutbuku. At the tip of the southern coast of the Datca Peninsula of Turkey nestles the lovely town of Palamutbuku. This amazing quiet town, close to the historic ruins of Knidos, is home to some of the most desired long and quiet beaches, green streets, and walled gardens. Like a fairytale town come to life, as you walk along the seaside and look down into some of the clearest waters in the Aegean. In fact, you can walk well into the sea, and be able to see every stone and fish around your feet even when the waters reach head high.

The sea is full of fish and many a dinner is caught just moments before it is on your plate, served alongside exceptionally tasty local produce. What is still wonderful is that this coast is still virgin from all the expected tourism, and the town hosts many wonderful taverns and restaurants, as well as the amazing residents that make your stay even more memorable.

At the extreme southwest of Turkey, along the Datca peninsula, sits the small archeological town of Knidos. This is one of Turkeys finest historical legends preserved in amazing condition. You find the Statue of Demeter in one location, and in the ancient harbor there were two Lions that stand guard but are now in the British Museum in London. The main attractions are the temple of Aphrodite and the Necropolis. Excavations are ongoing, and have been unearthing more and more amazing finds for over half a century. Since Knidos is considered to be remote, the best way to reach it is by yacht. This is a must stop for all yacht charters, and one site that will provide a lot of great memoires as well as photos.

gocek gulet charter

Divers and snorkelers seeking some variety will love the Poyraz Bay area, where a lot of different sea life coexist in a continuous struggle for survival. Here you will find octopus, moray eels, starfish and many different sizes and types of fish, as well as amazing rock formations and fragments of ancient times.

Akvaryum Bay is a pristine cove with long sandy beaches and aquamarine waters. This amazing bay located between Bitez and Gumbet provides an amazing respite during your  blue voyage . Enjoy a relaxing respite in an explorable cove within the bay area and watch as ducks and geese join you in these amazing waters.

gocek gulet charter

After an exceptional  gulet charter , you come sail back to Bodrum and prepare for your flight home. This is a perfect time to visit this wonderful city and enjoy your last (but not final) taste of Turkey. Bodrum is a jewel surrounded golden sunsets and azure waters. You really should partake in all the local cuisine, cultural attractions and visit the waterfront outside the famous Bodrum Castle, built from the stones of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. It houses an amazing underwater archeology museum and is a must see when in Bodrum.

Roma communities in Perm Krai: historical and ethnical aspects

Profile image of Dmitrii Vaiman

Two large groups of Roma are settled in the territory of Perm Krai, the Ruska Roma and Kalderari. Roma live both in cities and countryside. Roma living in the countryside keeps elements of traditional culture. In Perm Krai we can find different families of the Ruska [Russian] Roma: Gorbovichi, Nemzengery, Bashnengery, Polyaki, Sapuny, Gubany. In contrast to the Kalderari the community of Ruska Roma is based not only on family-territorial principle. Sometimes community is based on ethnic-territorial ground when the Ruska Roma living in an urban area despite family ties can be a part of the community. Traditional activity of Ruska Roma living in countryside is a seasonal grazing of livestock. One of the main sectors of activity is trading. Roma sell cars and jewelry. Kelderari live in compact groupings in Perm. They call themselves Moldavska Roma and consider themselves to be part of Ruvoni [wolf in Romani language] family. Traditional activity of Kelderari is metal work (especially tin-smith’s work) which impact also their modern business. The main work activity of men till now is working with metals such as base metal trading and metal items repair. Traditional women activity is fortune-telling. Bilingualism, traditional way of living, ethnic isolation, unique and particular material and spiritual culture are common for all of Roma. The main problems for Roma nowadays are safeguarding of ethnicity and as well as some educational and social issues.
