South West England weather forecast

Thursday 12 sep - monday 16 sep.

Sunshine and showers, but warmer over the weekend.

A mixture of sunshine and showers across the region, these heavy in places, particularly in coastal areas, before becoming lighter and more isolated by the evening. Breezy in any showers, though less windy than Wednesday, and still feeling rather cool. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

A few showers may linger around coastal areas, however generally turning drier and more settled across the region. Winds becoming light, allowing a cold night with patchy grass frost. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Clear skies bring a cold and crisp morning, with patchy frost in rural areas. Remaining dry and bright, though turning cloudier by the afternoon. Feeling warmer in sunny spells. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Settled this weekend with plenty of sunny spells on Saturday. Cloudy but still dry on Sunday. Feeling warm, with the best of the sunshine on the south coast on Monday.

Updated: 05:00 (UTC+1) on Thu 12 Sep 2024

UK long range weather forecast

Monday 16 sep - wednesday 25 sep.

Cloud and outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy in places, are expected to affect some northern areas at the start of this period. Further south, it is likely to be dry with spells of sunshine. Temperatures will mainly be close to average for the time of year. Through the middle and latter part of next week high pressure will begin to become more dominant, with dry and at times sunny conditions spreading across the majority of the UK. Temperatures during the day will probably be above average in many areas, although some cold nights are also possible. This pattern will probably persist through the rest of this period, although by late September there is a chance that more unsettled conditions may begin to develop.

Updated: 15:00 (UTC+1) on Wed 11 Sep 2024

Thursday 26 Sep - Thursday 10 Oct

Typical Autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types during late September and early October. Periods of wet, unsettled weather will likely be broken up by some spells of more settled, drier weather. Overall, the wettest conditions will probably be in the west with the east drier. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average.
