We offer year round shelter with short access to many of Thailand’s finest yachting destinations. With three metres depth minimum at each tide, our marina provides berthing up to 40 metres. Affordable mooring is also available inside our shelter harbour. The boatyard can lift boat up to 38 tons and provide comprehensive yacht repair services.

All 280 berths will have full length fingers and extra wide concourses that maximise convenience while loading and docking. 24-hour security, refuelling service, fresh water, electricity supply and dock assistance come as standard.

Specifications of the Marina

Port Takola Marina Krabi, currently in its first phase of development, offers 70 wet berths that can accommodate yachts of up to 45 meters LOA and 20 moorings with a 2-ton concrete block for vessels up to 18 meters LOA. The marina guarantees all-season shelter with a minimum depth of 3 meters. Each berth is equipped with comprehensive amenities including refueling service, fresh water, electricity supply, digital water meter, and dock assistance.

The marina boasts of a fuel dock supplying Gasohol 95 and diesel, a boatyard with a boat lifting capacity of 38 tons, and an electricity supply with 32 and 64 amp single phase, and 125 amp three phases. Plans are also in place for further expansion, with the final design accommodating 280 berths featuring full-length fingers and extra-wide concourses for added convenience.

A new yacht marina and boatyard has opened in Krabi, Thailand, with phase one open since February.

Port Takola has been under construction since 2009. The marina is built on 27 acres of redundant prawn farm ponds that is part of the private estate of the na Nagara family.

Surgeon Admiral Suriya (RTN) and his son Matthew na Nagara have worked together since the beginning to realise this marina project. Matthew explains, “Port Takola’s phase one is a small but an exciting beginning for our family and the marina team. After many years of development, Port Takola will finally start servicing boat owners.”

He continues “We offer an all-year-round shelter at one of a world’s finest yachting destination, the Phang Nga Bay. There are many destination within short sailing, such as Reiley, Poda Island, Lanta, and Hong Island.

“We are located at the centre of Krabi, between Ao Nang and Krabi town. This is an ideal homeport for Bangkok residents and boat owners who live in a major capital city in Asia. Krabi International Airpot is less than 40-minutes drive and there are daily direct flights from Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Doha.”

Port Takola phase one features 50 stern-to berths to a 4-metre wide high stability concrete pontoon built by Marinetek.

The boatyard will have an area of 10,000 sqm for around 50 dry berths and for technical repairs. This will be serviced by a Roodberg submersible hydraulic trailer with a maximum lifting capacity of 38 tonnes and a maximum draft of 2.5 metres.

The slipway has a 12-metre width to accommodate larger catamarans, which are growing in popularity in Thailand. The marina will also introduce 20 moorings inside its basin to provide an affordable berthing option.

Matthew adds “Port Takola is very much a marina in a garden. Our family’s estate has a verdant natural surrounding that gives a serene berthing escape from the metropolitan city. This is ideal for boat owners who wants a stunning sailing scene and also a short break from the city.”

Port Takola marina to add 300 berths

Port Takola's expansion will offer an extra wide concrete pontoon berth that can accommodate yachts ranging from 10 to 45 metres.

Thailand’s Environmental Impact Assessment Board has officially approved Port Takola’s application for a marina expansion, which will see the marina gain up to 300 berths, and 15,000 sq.m of boatyard service area.

Port Takola, which can currently provide shelter to boats up to 45m, was once a shrimp farm but is now set to become the first fully-fledged superyacht marina in Krabi, Thailand. The expansion will offer an extra wide concrete pontoon berth that can accommodate yachts ranging from 10 to 45 metres.

A work berth will be available on a north section of the marina harbour, according to officials at Port Takola. The boatyard will increase its capacity from 9,000 to 15,000 sq.m with a lifting capability also increase from 38 to 80 tons.

A boatshed will be available for a 25-metre yacht refit. Matthew na Nagara, Port Takola’s general manager, and a former chairman of the Thai Yachting Business Association adds: “We are excited that our EIA application was approved by the board last month. Port Takola has a modest start, but we are proud of our steady development. We have had a great cruising community with several superyachts here. Charter yacht tenants are also increasing.  This is due to our advantageous location that offers year-round shelter, and convenient access from land and sea.”

A tourist town, Ao Nang is within a 10-minute drive, while Krabi International Airport is only 40-minute away. At sea, Krabi is part of the Phang Nga Bay archipelago, and is also home to many renowned islands, including Phi Phi, Reiley, Koh Hong, and Lanta.

“This makes us an ideal home port as well as a port of call on the Andaman Sea,” na Nagara adds. Last year, the Thai government eliminated certain taxes on superyachts doing charter s in Thailand in a bid to strengthen the tourism industry in the wake of the Covid slowdown. 

Construction on Port Takola started in 2010

Port Takola Yacht Marina & Boatyard has been developed by father and son team, Surgeon Admiral Suriya (RTN) and Matthew na Nagara. The marina is built on hundred-year-old family land, located on the mouth of the Krabi River.

Construction began in 2010 to transform a retired shrimp farm into a full-service marina. Phase one commenced operation in 2018 with 50 wet berths, 50 dry berths with a 38-ton Roodberg trailer boat lift, a fuel dock, and a café. It has recently expanded its Pier G to offer 25 additional berths, suitable for yachts ranging from 15–45 metres.

Makro Food Services and Tesco Lotus Market are less than 15 minutes drive away.

Hot dogs & Coldcat deli also locates within 15 minutes drive. They offers a wide range of imported food product and artisan hommade.

Port Takola Yacht Marina Adding New Berths in Krabi, Thailand

The Port Takola Yacht Marina & Boatyard in Krabi province has started an expansion phase that includes 25 new berths.

Port Takola Yacht Marina & Boatyard is set to expand its Pier G with 25 new berths, made up of a mixture of 15m and 18m berths as well as a 40m superyacht berth. Situated in Thailand’s Krabi province, east of Phuket, Port Takola is a 40-minute drive from Krabi International Airport and a relatively recent addition to the country’s marinas.

“Since our soft opening in May 2018, we have gradually gained a reputation for serenity, services, year-round shelter, convenience for yacht checking in and out, and being close to Ao Nang, Krabi Town and Krabi International Airport,” said Matthew Na Nagara, Port Takola’s General Manager and Chairman of the Thai Yachting Business Association.

“Boat repair services and superyacht arrivals are other factors behind this expansion. Our boatyard now provides a comprehensive service, so more repair work can be done here. A chandlery is now available onsite, so this makes it more convenient to base a yacht here on long-term basis.

“We’re also receiving more interest from superyachts for short- term and seasonal visits. This is due to more awareness of our capability and the value we can provide in comparison to other nearby destinations.”

Pier G will feature a 3m-wide concrete pontoon and Thermowood grooved-surface fingers built by Marinetek. All pedestals will feature two power connections to accommodate air-conditioning, while superyacht pedestals will provide 125-amp three-phase electrical supply.

Port Takola is also offering 30 per cent discounts to yachts berthing for more than a week, as well as long-term berth ownership.
