Basic specs..

The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

The interior is like many other boats made of mahogany. Mahogany belongs to the hardwood species, known for being water-repellent and resistant to decay. It has an attractive wood grain and holds wood polish and varnish well. The boat is equipped with 4 cabins, 8 berths, a galley, 120.0 liter fresh water capacity and toilet facility.

The boat equipped with a fractional rig. A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers, of course. The downside is that having the wind from behind often requires a genaker or a spinnaker for optimal speed.

Unknown keel type

The keel is made of lead. Compared with iron, lead has the advantage of being 44% heavier, which allows a smaller keel and hence less water resistance and higher speed.

The boat can enter most marinas as the draft is just about 1.70 - 1.80 meter (5.58 - 5.88 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

Omega 36 is typically equipped with an inboard Yanmar diesel engine at 27 hp (20 kW). The speed is 7.0 knots.

The transmission is a shaft drive. A shaft drive will in the long run require less maintenance than other types of drive e.g. a sail drive.

The fuel tank, which is made of stainless steel, has a capacity of 100.0 liters (26 US gallons, 21 imperial gallons).

Probleme & historie der omega 36, die omega 36 im detail, preis und werft, yacht-bewertung der omega 36.

“Warum gerade eine Omega 36?“, wollen wir von Eigner Armin Hahn aus Bad Bramstedt wissen. „Die sieht einfach klasse aus, das ist uns besonders wich­tig. Und sie segelt hervorragend. Außerdem sind da auch noch ganz praktische Details, wie zum Beispiel eine tiefe Bilge, ein Bleikiel oder die Pinnensteuerung.“

In der Tat bietet die Yacht aus schwedischer Großserienfertigung ein spannendes Paket. Die zwischen 1986 und 1991 produzierte Omega ist unter Wasser massiv gebaut, wobei das Spritzlaminat mit Glasgewebe verstärkt wurde. Darüber besitzt der Rumpf einen Divinycell-Schaumkern. Das Deck ist als Balsasandwich aufgeführt. Mit 5,1 Tonnen für elf Meter Bootslänge gehört die Omega zu den leichtesten Serienbooten ihrer Zeit.

Um dem Rumpf die nötige Festigkeit zu verleihen, wurden die Einbauten zum Teil als tragende Struktur aus GFK konzipiert und einlaminiert. Im Gegenzug sind die Schotten allerdings nur an Flanschen mit dem Rumpf verschraubt, ein typisch schwedisches Verfahren. Gleiches gilt für die Kielaufhängung. Die Bleiflosse hängt an einem GFK-Stummel, was zu einer tiefen ­Bilge führt. Fünf Bodenwrangen sollten die Kräfte in den Rumpf einleiten. Allerdings ist die Verarbeitung nicht bei allen Booten gleich gut. Wie Berichte von Sachverständigen aus Schweden zeigen, muss man diesen Bereich unbedingt prüfen. Sind Risse oder abgeplatztes Topcoat vorhanden, ist Vorsicht geboten und eine Verstärkung nötig.

Unser Testexemplar ist ein gut gepflegtes Schiff, Baujahr 1988 und in dritter Hand. Über die Jahre wurden eine Menge Geld und Material ins Schiff gesteckt: Ein neues Teakdeck, ein zusätzlicher Kühlschrank, eine neue Gasanlage, die komplette WC-Instal­lation mit Fäkaltank und ein komfortables Lattenrost unter den Vorschiffskojen haben die Eigner verbaut. Für den Gegenwert hätte man fast schon ein neues Boot anschaffen können.

Über den üblichen Verschleiß hinaus ging der Einbau eines neuen Stevenrohrs. Anders waren die Leckagen der Wellenan­lage nicht zu stoppen. Nach Aussagen von Eigner Hahn ein verbreitetes Problem bei den Omegas mit Yanmar-Motor. Neuere Baujahre sind allerdings mit einem Volvo 2003 nebst Saildrive ausgerüstet. Beide Vari­an­ten sind zweikreisgekühlt.

Ron Holland hat mit der 36er damals ein sehr schnelles Schiff auf den Markt gebracht. Bei nur 5,1 Tonnen Verdrängung trägt die Schwedin eine Segelfläche von stolzen 78 Quadratmetern am 7/8-Rigg, das ab Werft ohne Backstagen und mit nur einem etwa 20 Grad nach achtern gefeilten Salingspaar auskommt. Auf dem Testboot wurden zur Verbesserung des Trimms allerdings Backs­tagen nachgerüstet.

Mit Genua kommt die Omega auf eine Segeltragezahl von 5,13. Das ist in etwa der Wert, den eine modernere Bavaria match 35 bietet. Entsprechend begeistert ist Armin Hahn von den Leichtwindeigenschaften: „Am Wind laufen wir gute 6,5 Knoten bei drei Windstärken. Allerdings müssen wir – wenn nur zu zweit an Bord – ab 4 Beaufort das erste Reff stecken.“ Nicht weiter verwunderlich, die Omega besitzt nur 37 Prozent Ballast­anteil und mit 1,70 Metern vergleichsweise wenig Tiefgang. Andererseits reicht bei mehr als drei Windstärken auch die serienmäßige Selbstwendefock. „Dann wird das Kreuzen zum Kinderspiel“, schwärmt Hahn.

Die schwedische Werft hatte damals Rad- oder Pinnensteuerung angeboten. Die Pinne verbraucht weniger Platz im Cockpit und unter Deck. So gesehen ist sie, vor allem im Hafen, wenn man denn eine Kuchenbude stellen will, von erheblichem Vorteil. Nicht optimal ist die Führung der Fallen zum Cockpit. Sie werden im rechten Winkel umgelenkt, was zu hohen Reibungsverlusten in den Gleitlagerblöcken führt.

Den Vorsegel-Holepunkt kann man auf den sehr langen Schienen exakt einstellen – allerdings muss man dazu aufs Deck, um die Stopper zu bedienen. Leinenverstellungen waren Ende der Achtziger noch die Aus­nahme. Dafür sind serienmäßig selbst-­ ­holende Winschen an Bord.

Wohnqualitäten

Verglichen mit modernen Elf-Meter-Yachten ist der Raum unter Deck nicht üppig. Dennoch hat Ron Holland gute Platzverhältnisse geschaffen. Im Vorschiff besitzt die Omega eine echte Doppelkoje mit über zwei Meter Länge. Im Salon befindet sich an Backbord ein U-Sofa und eine Längskoje an Steuerbord. Für große Crews kann der Tisch abgesenkt und eine weitere Doppelkoje gebaut werden. Das Achterschiff bietet nochmals eine Doppelkoje und auf der Steuerbord­seite einen Riesenstauraum, den man ebenso vom WC-Bereich aus erreichen kann.

Es gibt Ausbauversionen, die im Heck zwei Doppelkojen unterbringen. Allerdings sind dies Kojen für schlanke Menschen, denn die Schiffsbreite im Heck ist, im Vergleich zu modernen Konstruktionen, recht knapp. Ebenfalls nicht optimal: Die Luken sind hier winzig, die Kammern entsprechend dunkel.

Zudem gibt es zwei verschiedene Anordnungen der Naviecke, vor und hinter dem Bad. Gut gelöst und ausgeführt ist die große Pantry mit Doppelspüle und Kühlschapp. Der WC-Raum ist nicht üppig, aber noch ausreichend. Die Dusche gehörte zur Serien­ausstattung, was damals nicht sehr verbreitet war. Eine Schiebetür führt in die Backs­kiste. Die Holzarbeiten sind ordentlich und bieten gute Substanz.

Die Omega 36 ist eine sehr sportliche Yacht mit großer Segelfläche, die sich nicht zuletzt dank der Selbstwendefock auch zu zweit ­segeln lässt, vorausgesetzt, man refft rechtzeitig. Die gute Bausubstanz zahlt sich aus, sodass auch nach 24 Jahren keine gravieren­den Schwächen vorhanden sind. Die Kielaufhängung und je nach Variante auch das Stevenrohr sollte man vor dem Kauf aber genau untersuchen. Auch wenn das Boot maximal sieben Kojen bieten kann, ist es zu zweit oder zu viert bestens belegt. Die sehr gelungenen Formen können heute noch gefallen – im Hafen wie unter Segeln.

Die Schwachstellen

• Kielaufhängung: Nicht bei allen Omegas sind die Boden­wrangen gleich gut einlaminiert. Nach Grundberührungen kann es hier leicht zu Schäden kommen, abgeplatztes Topcoat oder Haarrisse sind Alarmsignale

• Umlenker: Die große Schiebelukgarage führt zu starker Umlenkung der Fallen, das erzeugt mehr
• Püttinge & Mast & Stevenrohr: Bei den ersten Baunummern gab es ­Proble­me mit den Schweißnähten an den Rüst­­eisen. Untersuchen sollte man auch die ­Salingsbeschläge der Isomat-Riggs. Die Stevenrohre der Omegas neigen zu Leckagen

Hinter der Omega stand die Svenska Familjebåtar AB, tatsächlich gebaut wurden die Boote von den Brüdern Bröjesson im nordschwedischen Bjästa. Der Betrieb hatte seinen Ursprung in einer Fabrik für Gummihandschuhe, stieg aber 1960 in die Bootsbranche ein. Im Laufe der Jahre wurden neben den Omegas auch die Scanmar-Yachten sowie Maxis und Örnvik-Motorboote produziert. Nachdem sich die Gründer­familie 1988 zurückgezogen hatte, ging es mit dem Betrieb bergab. 1991 kam das endgültige Aus. Die letzten Kaskos wurden von Interboat aufgekauft und bis ­etwa 1993 ausgeliefert.

Modellgeschichte

Im Laufe der Produktion wurde von Yanmar-Moto­risierung auf Volvo und Saildrive umgestellt, zudem gibt es einige Boote mit veränderten Riggs und Unterschiede beim Innenausbau.

Im schwedischen Heimat­revier sind mit Abstand die meisten Omegas zu finden. Das Preisniveau ist aber nicht unbedingt besser als in Deutschland, Holland oder Dänemark. Viele Yachten gingen auch nach England.
