Both families in our booking had an outstanding time using the Crusader, jetting around to some different areas on the lake to enjoy some fun watersports. We did everything from kayaking, paddleboarding, jumping off piers and the boat, fishing, swimming and just chillaxing on the beaches and on the top deck of the boat.

We recently booked a 7-day sailing holiday with Riviera Nautic and had the ABSOLUTE BEST time.

We were able to sail our own boat and enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the Gippsland Lakes. Our yacht was well-maintained, clean and super comfortable. I was worried how we’d go with 2 kids and 2 adults on a boat for a whole week, but it didn’t feel cramped at all, and it was amazing to dock next to a jetty or pull onto a beach and swim, walk, fish, play and explore to our heart’s content.

We got to hang out as a family and spend proper quality time together – sailing during the day and playing board games on the boat at night – away from our usual screens and devices!

The Riviera Nautic team gave us plenty of guidance and were always available to answer questions both before we arrived and once we were on the water.

Highly recommend a boating holiday and with Riviera Nautic, it was so easy and so, so much fun. Thanks RN team!

Mooring Licences and Temporary Mooring

Please be advised that there are currently no moorings available at the Port of Sale. Any future vacancies will be advertised, or the availability status updated on this website.

Transfer of Mooring

If you have a mooring permit and have sold your vessel and wish to transfer the permit across to a new owner, please complete a Port of Sale Mooring Permit Transfer Application Form .

This form is to be printed, completed, signed and returned to the Wellington Shire Council Sale Service Centre for processing and payment.

Transfer of Mooring Fee: $57.70 (Inc. GST).

Swing Bridge

The National Trust classified Swing Bridge is located at the junction of the Thomson and Latrobe Rivers. It is the oldest surviving swing bridge in Australia, being constructed from 1880-1883, and is regarded as one of the engineering wonders of Gippsland.

As the name suggests, the bridge was designed to swing open to allow shipping to and from the Port of Sale. The bridge, built of cast iron cylinders and fittings and wrought iron trusses is 61m long, with a central swing span of almost 46m.

The bridge still opens today and is a wonderful experience to see. The scheduled opening times are as follows:

Saturday/Sunday: Between 3.00pm and 4.00pm

Second Wednesday of every month: Between 11.00am and 12noon

Requests for openings outside scheduled times can be met subject to payment and operator availability. The current fee is $469.00 (Inc. GST).

Requests for special openings must be made a minimum of 7 days prior to required opening time and should be directed to Wellington Shire Council.
