Everything is all set to a cutting-edge soundtrack.

Drumcode x Yacht Week has become a must-attend event for daring electronic music aficionados. The trilogy of excursions concludes in grand style in 2024. Drumcode founder Adam Beyer, Eli Brown, Joel Mull, Miss Monique, and Tini Gessler have all been confirmed for the lineup.

Drumcode and The Yacht Week will join forces once again in summer 2023 as a flotilla of yachts filled with techno fans and Drumcode artists come together to sail the stunning Croatian coastline and enjoy 7-days of music and intimate parties in truly unique locations.

The debut event this summer was something special and 2023 is set to be even bigger and better with a lineup of serious techno talent. Announced for 2023 are Adam Beyer, Marco Faraone, Layton Giordani, Juliet Fox, Anna Reusch, Eli Brown, Bart Skils, and Wehbba. The Yacht Week Presents Drumcode takes place from 27th May to 3rd June 2023 with limited places available to book now at www.theyachtweek.com . Spots start at just €856/£765/$862 per person.

The Yacht Week and Drumcode have partnered up to dispel the myth that techno is made purely for underground clubs, raves and festivals. This unique experience provides the perfect platform, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Adriatic sea and Croatian islands, to demonstrate the versatility of techno as a genre and highlight the nuances and different energy levels that different artists can bring.

Last summer, Drumcode x The Yacht Week debut saw guests and artists converge to create an unforgettable atmosphere. Guests were able to enjoy close-up and exclusive DJ sets from world-class DJs as the event redefined what a music festival can be. Drumcode x The Yacht Week delivered a truly inclusive vibe with DJs partying alongside guests and sailing together as one group of like-minded people. Juliet Fox even took a yoga class for guests as she immersed herself in the experience.

Drumcode founder Adam Beyer said “ The intimacy of this unique experience truly blew me away – staying on yachts metres apart, exploring all day and partying all night with the Drumcode family. It was amazing to meet people who had travelled from Argentina, Australia and LA for the event, all connecting over our shared love of the music. This exceeded all my expectations and I can’t wait to do it again next year .”

Next summer will also deliver an even more intimate experience with guests getting additional opportunities to meet and spend time with the artists. Everyone on this trip is a VIP.

Curated by Adam Beyer, the lineup for 2023 has been carefully selected and includes a few new faces including The extremely talented DJ / producer Marco Faraone joins, as does rising star Anna Reusch who has a forthcoming track on Drumcode’s popular compilation series A-Sides Vol 11. Eli Bown joins the lineup, named as Adam Beyer’s ‘Rising Star DJ / producer of 2022’ in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs chart.

Wehbba is another new name on the trip, a Drumcode stalwart with a big reputation. Returning for a second year are, Adam Beyer of course, Layton Giordani who has just dropped the massive ‘Rabbit Hole’ on Drumcode – a collab with Hi-LO, Juliet Fox who also has a forthcoming track on A-Sides Vol 11, and Bart Skils, a vital Drumcode artist who just released his ‘Horsepower’ EP on the label.

With Adam Beyer as the captain of Drumcode and of this trip-of-a-lifetime, this lineup represents some of the very best techno talent out there and demonstrates the depth and breadth of the Drumcode roster, from rising stars to cornerstone legends.

The Yacht Week, a unique ‘floating festival’ that takes place across some of Croatia’s most breathtaking sailing routes throughout the summer, has announced phase one of the line-up for their 2019 edition. 

Appearing on ‘The Buzz Boat’; a floating DJ stage, fully kitted out with a VOID Acoustic soundsystem, are Weiss, Illyus & Barrientos, Mark Knight, and Offaiah, with more major announcements to come.

The Buzz Boat is an unforgettable centrepiece, but in conjunction with some of Croatia’s best venues and clubs, The Yacht Week experience is full of big nights and big DJs, alongside more underground events supporting up and coming DJ talent, all designed to test the endurance of the most committed clubbers. The Croatia Ultra Festival Route even includes tickets to Ultra Festival for the ultimate blow out. When it’s time to recover, nothing comes close to The Yacht Week; guests can snorkel in secluded bays, try some seaside yoga, kick back at a beach lounge and enjoy freshly prepared lunch or dinner, and much more, before the night brings another dancefloor. 

Weiss was the breakout house music star of 2018, thanks to the phenomenal success of his track ‘Feel My Needs’. The sunset groover with luscious old school piano riffs brought him mainstream attention, but this British DJ / producer has already proved his credentials many times over with huge releases on Dirtybird, Toolroom, This Ain’t Bristol and more. Now heavily in demand at the world’s best clubs and festivals, Weiss is sure to bring the perfect vibes for The Yacht Week crowds during week 26 (22nd June to 29th June).

Also preparing to board The Buzz Boat for week 27 (29th June to 6th July) are Illyus & Barrientos, the Glaswegian pairing currently tearing up dancefloors with their raw, jackin’ cut, ‘Shout’, on Toolroom Records, a track which perfectly sums up their energetic, deep, and percussive approach to house music. With releases on Suara, Exploited Records, Glasgow Underground and many more, Illyus & Barrientos have a well-deserved reputation as one of the hottest DJ / production duos in the UK. 

There’s very little Mark Knight hasn’t achieved in the world of electronic music. The Toolroom Records boss is one of the most revered DJ / producers out there. His influence has shaped the sound of house music over two decades and provided him with a Grammy nomination, Toolroom Radio (broadcasting to millions), huge record sales, sold out Ibiza seasons, sold out world tours, and much more. Mark Knight taking over the VOID Acoustics soundsystem out on the waves will be an unforgettable experience. He appears during week 30 (20th July to 27th July).

Also, announced today is Offaiah, performing during week 31 (27th July to 2nd August). This Londoner has been steadily building a reputation for quality, bumping house music full of hooks you can’t shake off and perfectly crafted drops for the dancefloor. The captain of Mike Lynch's superyacht is being investigated by Italian prosecutors: report

• The captain of a yacht that sank off Sicily is being investigated by Italian prosecutors, Reuters reported.
• The Bayesian yacht went down last week, claiming the lives of seven on board, including Mike Lynch.
• James Cutfield was questioned on Sunday and will be interrogated again on Tuesday, per local media.

The captain of the superyacht that sank in the Mediterranean last week, claiming the lives of tech tycoon Mike Lynch and six others, is being investigated for potential manslaughter and shipwreck charges, Reuters reported , citing a judicial source.

James Cutfield, the 51-year-old captain, was questioned by prosecutors on Sunday for two hours, according to Italy's La Repubblica . The New Zealander is set to be questioned again on Tuesday, Corriere Della Sera reported .

Giovanni Rizzuti, one of two attorneys appointed to defend Cutfield, said that the yacht captain is "very shaken by the immense tragedy" and intends to defend himself, according to the outlet.

Another attorney, Aldo Mordiglia, told the Washington Post by email that Cutfield is under investigation for potential manslaughter charges.

The Bayesian, an 184-foot superyacht, sank off the coast of Porticello, Sicily, last week.

Fifteen people, including Lynch's wife Angela Bacares , were rescued, while seven others — including Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah — have been confirmed dead.

An investigation into the exact cause of the sinking is ongoing, but some have criticized the crew for supposed shortcomings.

Giovanni Costantino, the CEO of the Italian Sea Group, which owns Perini Navi, the firm that built the Bayesian in 2008, blamed the crews for not following protocol and failing to prepare for the storm.

He told the Financial Times that the yacht sank in 16 minutes but that the vessel was "designed to be absolutely stable" as it had the second-tallest mast in the world.

When the yacht started taking on water, the skipper should have locked everything up and gathered all passengers at the safe point, and no one should've been in their cabin, in line with protocol, Costantino told the outlet.

In an interview with Reuters , Costantino said the yacht's crew members made the "incredible mistake" of not being prepared for the powerful storm that rolled in.

Franco Romani, a nautical architect who was part of the team that designed the yacht, told La Stampa the Bayesian was built to go to sea in "any weather" and that a side hatch that was left open could have let water enter the vessel, per Reuters.

Italian prosecutors said during a press conference on Saturday that they had opened a manslaughter investigation.

Ambrogio Cartosio, the head of the public prosecutor's office of Termini Imerese, said he was investigating a "crime hypothesis" of culpable shipwreck and manslaughter.

It's unclear if other crew members will be probed, Reuters reported, adding that in Italy being under investigation does not automatically result in official charges or implied guilt.

Corriere Della Serra reported that investigators have asked Cutfield's deputy, Tijs Koopmans, to stay in Sicily to be questioned again, but they didn't specify whether he was under investigation.

The sister of the late Hannah Lynch , 18, who perished after a super yacht sank off the coast of Sicily following a freak storm along with their dad, Mike Lynch , reflected on her sibling's unexpected passing.

"She is my little angel, my star," Esme, whose mom Angela Bacares was among the 15 survivors, shared in a statement obtained by Sky News earlier this week. "She had even more love to give endlessly to all her friends and passion to give to her incredible studies and goals."

Esme also reminisced about the simple moments she had with her sister, who was set to attend Oxford University this fall. 

"Hannah often burst into my bedroom and lay down with me," Esme explained. "Sometimes beaming with a smile, sometimes cheeky, sometimes for advice. No matter what, she brought boundless love to me. She was endlessly caring, passionately mad, unintentionally hilarious and the most amazing, supportive and joyful sister and best friend to me."

A spokesperson for the Lynch family also shared a statement Aug. 23, per The Washington Post , writing that they were "devastated, in shock and is being comforted and supported by family and friends."

"Their thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragedy," the statement continued. "They would like to sincerely thank the Italian coastguard, emergency services and all those who helped in the rescue. Their one request now is that their privacy be respected at this time of unspeakable grief."

Hannah was among the six passengers who went missing on Aug. 19 when their luxury boat was hit by a water tornado called a "waterspout." Days after the incident, the Italian Coast Guard confirmed that they had recovered the body of the final passenger—a woman whose body was found a day after Mike’s was also found. Sources close familiar with the matter confirmed to NBC News that rescuers were still searching for Hannah before the body was recovered.

The others who were recovered were Mike's associates, many of whom were part of his defense during his fraud case, including Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy Bloomer ; lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo , the Director of Sicily’s Civil Protection Agency Salvatore Cocina told NBC News. The body of the ship’s cook, Recaldo Thomas , was also recovered shortly after the incident.

Angela was rescued with nine crew members and two other passengers. Eight were taken to a nearby hospital and the rest were brought to a local hotel. In total, 15 passengers of the 22 passengers survived. 

The head of the Palermo Emergency Medical Services, Dr. Fabio Genco , recalled what the survivors had told him and investigators after the storm.

"They told me that it was all dark, that the yacht hoisted itself up and then went down," he shared with NBC News . "All the objects were falling on them. That's why I immediately made sure, by asking them questions, if they had any internal injuries."

"They told me that suddenly they found themselves catapulted into the water without even understanding how they had got there," he continued. "The whole thing seems to have lasted from 3 to 5 minutes."

One of the world’s largest sailing superyachts sank in high winds off Sicily on Monday, causing the death of UK tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and six other passengers and crew whose bodies were recovered from the wreck or from the sea.

The trip on the Lynch family’s yacht had been intended to celebrate his recent acquittal by a US jury, with 12 passengers on board, including his wife and 18-year-old daughter, and 10 crew members.

The Italian coastguard said the 56-metre, 540-tonne, British-flagged yacht Bayesian sank within minutes after it was hit by ferocious winds of 60 knots (over 110km/h) near Palermo.

The rapid sinking of such a large, modern and well-equipped yacht due to bad weather, rather than as a result of a collision, has raised concerns over marine safety as extreme weather events occur with more frequency and intensity.

Why did the superyacht sink?

The yacht may well have been caught in a waterspout — a form of tornado — because the extreme wind speeds were recorded only in a localised area around the harbour of Porticello, where the boat was anchored about 300 metres offshore when it was struck.

Karsten Börner, the skipper of a nearby boat, told the FT that Bayesian appeared to capsize. He said he regarded the boat as unstable and his comments suggest that it could have been the combination of high winds and Bayesian’s 72-metre mast — the world’s tallest aluminium mast, according to manufacturers Perini Navi — that triggered the disaster.

Even with no sails up, a boat with a tall mast has a lot of “windage”, or surface area exposed to the wind, which can tip the vessel over in a storm. The boat may have heeled over so far that it took on water through open windows, hatches or companionways.

According to Perini Navi, Bayesian had a keel that can be lifted to reduce the draught of the boat — otherwise nearly 10 metres — for easier entrance to shallow harbours. If the keel were for some reason in the raised position rather than fully extended, that could compromise the boat’s stability in a strong wind.

Skippers of sailing yachts with exceptionally high masts typically aim to move out of harm’s way if strong winds are forecast.

Yacht designers and sailors are nevertheless puzzled by the sinking of the boat. AIS (Automatic Identification System) tracking data shows it took 16 minutes from the time Bayesian appeared to started dragging its anchor until it sank. But it is not yet known whether vulnerable hatches were open or when water started entering the boat. Italian prosecutors are investigating possible charges of manslaughter and “negligent shipwreck”.

Giovanni Costantino, chief executive of Italian Sea Group, which owns Perini Navi, told the Financial Times that Bayesian was “absolutely safe” and said the crew should have had time to secure the boat and evacuate passengers from their cabins.

Should we blame climate change?

Climate change is likely to have been at least a contributing factor in the Mediterranean’s unsettled and sometimes violent weather this summer. The Mediterranean is a favoured cruising ground for superyachts during the northern hemisphere summer — in winter, the wealthy prefer the Caribbean or the Indian Ocean — because the weather is typically warm and sunny, and storms are rare. 

Meteorological experts have long predicted that climate change and the heating-up of oceans will help trigger more extreme weather events, including floods, droughts and more severe hurricanes.

Last week, the Mediterranean reached a median temperature of 28.9C — its highest surface temperature on record — and similar records are being broken in other seas. June was the 15th consecutive month that global sea temperatures hit a record high and forecasters predict the warmer waters may fuel an intense Atlantic hurricane season.

Will disasters at sea occur more often?

While design improvements and safety regulations have made even the smallest boats safer, the potential dangers posed by bad weather are increasing in line with the rising number of pleasure vessels at sea.

Last week, a sudden and exceptionally strong thunderstorm with wind squalls blowing at up to 53 knots (about 100km/h) swept over the Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Formentera, driving several sailing and motor yachts to crash on to the shore. Among those damaged and grounded but later recovered was a luxury, 30-metre vessel made by the Monaco-based Wally Yachts .

The cause was a thunderstorm known as a “Dana”, a Spanish acronym for depresión aislada en niveles altos or isolated high-altitude depression. The bad weather also caused serious flooding in Mallorca and Menorca to the north.

How can boat makers and skippers help avoid more deaths?

The weather in the Mediterranean is often notoriously unpredictable and prone to sudden, unforecast gales — unlike the north Atlantic, where weather shifts are usually signalled days in advance by changing air pressure and cloud formations visible to the naked eye.

Safety at sea depends largely on two factors: the seaworthiness of the boat and the skill and experience of the captain and crew.

Modern boats — Bayesian was built in 2008 and refurbished four years ago — are normally built to high safety standards and equipped with electronic navigation and communications systems, as well as standard emergency gear such as life vests.

Common accidents include people falling overboard, fires on board and accidental groundings or collisions — not sinking in bad weather.

Body of last missing person, tech billionaire's daughter, retrieved from yacht wreck

Italian divers have retrieved the body of British tech magnate Mike Lynch's 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, who was the last person still unaccounted for after the family's luxury yacht sank this week off Sicily.

Seven people, including Lynch himself, died when the 56-metre-long (184-foot) sailboat, the Bayesian, capsized during a fierce, pre-dawn storm on Monday off Porticello, near Palermo. Fifteen people survived, including Lynch's wife and the yacht's captain.

Lynch's family is devastated and in shock, a spokesperson for the family said on Friday, in their first public comments since the yacht sank.

Prosecutors in the nearby town of Termini Imerese are looking into possible human error that might have led to the disaster. As of yet, nobody has been placed under formal investigation and none of the survivors have commented publicly.

Hannah Lynch's body was discovered on Friday by specialist divers who have been scouring the submerged vessel for the past five days, a senior official with knowledge of the rescue operation said, declining to be named.

The five other dead passengers were recovered on Wednesday and Thursday. The body of the only crew member who died, onboard chef Recaldo Thomas, was found near the wreck on Monday.

Official identification of the corpses and autopsies will take place in Palermo.

The sinking has puzzled naval marine experts who say a boat like the Bayesian, built by Italian high-end yacht manufacturer Perini, should have withstood the storm and should not, in any case, have sunk as quickly as it did.

The yacht's captain James Cutfield, his eight surviving crew members and passengers have been questioned by the coast guard on behalf of prosecutors. Investigators are due to hold a news conference on Saturday.

Complex salvage operation

Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, which owns Perini, told Reuters the shipwreck was the result of a string of "indescribable, unreasonable errors" made by the crew, and ruled out any design or construction failings.

The Bayesian is lying on its side, apparently intact at a depth of 50 metres (164 ft). Pulling it out of the sea may help investigators determine what happened, but the operation is likely to be complex and costly.

Nick Sloane, a South African engineer who led the operation to salvage the Costa Concordia cruise liner that sank in 2012, said in Italian media interviews on Friday that the operation would cost up to 15 million euros (US$16.7 million).

He told daily La Repubblica that salvaging the yacht would take six to eight weeks, including preparation work, and would have to be completed by mid-October, without specifying the reasons for the timing.

Bringing the yacht to the surface will have to be done "very, very slowly," and might take a couple of days, he said.

Lynch, 59, was one of the U.K.'s best-known tech entrepreneurs and had invited friends to join him on the yacht to celebrate his acquittal in June in a U.S. fraud trial.

Among those who died in the wreck were Lynch's lawyer Chris Morvillo and Jonathan Bloomer, a Morgan Stanley banker who had appeared as a character witness in the case on his behalf.

Lynch's wife Angela Bacares headed the company that owned the boat.
