Besides writing and radio, he enjoys snow skiing, bicycling and other outdoor adventure activities. Having skied since the age of 10, Daniel enjoys many resorts but claims Alpine Meadows as his favorite.

Boating has always been one of his favorite activities. Daniel has been boating on the Delta since he was a small child. His family has had their ski boat since then and to this day still enjoys waterskiing and wakeboarding. Plenty of his days are spent cruising the California Delta, Sacramento and American Rivers as well as the Bay in the family’s 40’ Sea Ray, with many weekends being found just anchoring out, swimming and relaxing. In addition, he also enjoys doing other boat related excursions such as fishing trips on party boats and crabbing off Half Moon Bay.

Daniel became interested in Bay & Delta Yachtsman upon graduating college. As he began looking for jobs after graduation, he thought working in the boating and recreational industry would be great. He met Bill Wells at Marina West Yacht Club and decided to give him a call to ask if he knew of any job openings at the Yachtsman. He said that the magazine was looking for a copy editor. Since he liked boating, writing and reading, Daniel thought the job was a great fit for him. In addition, he hopes to gain more knowledge about the Delta and Bay while completing his editorial tasks. He is also very interested in the environmental aspects of the Delta, and has worked with Restore the Delta Foundation, writing letters and attending rallies.

When on the Delta, he enjoys several events in the area. Two of his favorites are karaoke at Moore’s Riverboat and the Rusty Porthole. He also participates in the Frozen Bun Run held on January 1st every year.

Bill moved to California in 1947 with his parents and brother. His father was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. As a child he accompanied his dad and brother on fishing and hunting trips in the Delta. He still has fond memories of his first overnight trip on the Delta aboard a family friend’s Chris Craft cruiser in the early 1950’s. Except for four years in the U.S. Navy and seven years living in Hawaii Bill has spent most of his life around the Delta area.

Bill is a retired yacht broker and currently is the Executive Director of the California Delta Chambers & Visitor’s Bureau and past Commodore of the Northern California Fleet of the Classic Yacht Association in addition to writing the monthly Delta Rat Scrapbook column for Bay & Delta Yachtsman magazine.

Jackie Philpott joins the staff of Bay & Delta Yachtsman as an avid sailor, an active member of the Singlehanded Sailing Society and a published author. With her first sailing lesson in 2002 of which she claims to be a late start in sailing, her adventures surely rival those of many who have been in the sport for much longer. Having sailed many parts of Wisconsin waters, Jackie now once again resides in Northern California. Here in the Bay Area, she has a never-ending urge to explore all areas of the Bay and for four summers even spent a great deal of time navigating the waters of the California Delta. With the Delta having over 1,000 miles of navigable waterways, she will be the first to admit that she has barely scratched the surface. However, that time was spent collecting information for her book WHAT I SAW Sailing in the California Delta, which gives a great perspective to the area by someone seeing the sights for the very first time.

Jackie is looking forward to covering boating related topics in her monthly column, What I Saw on the Bay. She is a sailor but more than willing to bring to her readership, the point of view from all those who love boating regardless of how they move about. You may see her in your local waters from time to time on her sailboat named Dura Mater. She will more than likely be singlehanded and busy managing her sails, but feel free to give her a friendly wave or nod.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Review: Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht

Review Cruising Motoryacht Maritimo M51 Sea Trial

' src=

Our M51 Series II was formerly called the M48 and now has a slightly different layout with full beam master stateroom aft, a guest suite forward and the third stateroom, a bunk room, to starboard. Boarding from the optional five-foot hydraulic swim platform is via a few steps from either side of the vessel. These steps lead to the huge cockpit where you will find the engine room access hatch, a large bench seat just aft and concealed fender and line storage lockers to port and starboard.

From the swimstep we can access the cavernous lazarette storage compartment with an abundance of space for all the mooring gear if you choose to not use the cockpit lockers and with plenty of room left over for water toys. With the electrically operated hatch lift in the closed position we find the optional wet bar, electric grill and drink cooler hidden under a hatch. Our boat has the optional teak decking that covers the large cockpit and extends out to the swim platform adding a touch of elegance to the outdoor entertainment area.

Before going any further I have to stop and take a look in the engine room to see what we have in the working end of the boat. Through the cockpit hatch we have a real set of stairs, with matching teak treads of course, leading down between the Volvo D11’s. Down here we find a well laid-out machinery space with near stand up headroom and easy to access service points on the main engines. On the aft bulkhead are the fuel filters and hydraulic power assist steering reservoir tank, all well marked and easy to service. On the starboard aft bulkhead we find the 11 kilowatt Onan generator with sound shield. Many generator installations make simple tasks like checking the lubricating oil level almost impossible. Not on this vessel as access for daily check and for routine service could not be made any easier. Looking around the rest of the space I locate two features I really like, site tubes on both fuel tanks and large ventilation fans on both the port and starboard side. The attention to detail in the machinery space is top notch.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Review: Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht 03

On the main deck at the same level there are two separate social areas that are brought together by opening the full width glass doors. While the exterior decking is teak, the interior decking is Rosewood Amtico with Ebony strips. Amtico is used by many luxury yacht builders due to its durability and ease of repair. Our boat has the Amtico decking option carried forward into the accommodation spaces as well and the look is quite stunning.

From the cockpit and moving forward through the Maritimo signature bi-fold glass and stainless steel doors we find the well-equipped galley to starboard with the island food preparation area carried over from the M48. The galley includes a two-door refrigerator freezer with ice maker, a four burner cook top, convection microwave oven, a pullout pantry, single stainless steel basin and solid surface countertops. Our boat has the optional dishwasher and trash disposal built into the island as well as the Miele appliance upgrade. To port is the saloon with a large L-shaped settee with room for five up front with the dining table and an additional lounge opposite that is comfortable for three. The Maritimo signature interior stairwell providing protected access to the flybridge is just aft of the dining area and is surrounded by cabinets, including the electrical panels. The saloon and galley areas feel light and airy with panoramic views and have all the latest entertainment systems and accessories. Those familiar with earlier versions of our compact motoryacht will feel right at home with the beautiful premium upholstery and appliances surrounded by the high gloss teak cabinetry. The contrasting colors of grey, beige and rosewood add to the luxurious feel of the interior and the design of the saloon and galley make entertaining easy. Open up the glass doors to the cockpit and the entire deck is opened up creating entertainment central.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Review: Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht 05

Below Decks

The lower deck is accessed from a slightly offset companionway lined with high-gloss teak and stainless rails wrapped in leather. Our M51 has the three stateroom/two head layout with the full beam master located aft. As with her larger sisters, the master is on two levels, giving it a feeling of a loft apartment. Entering the master stateroom we find the private ensuite head and large hanging lockers on the upper level to port and the sleeping and sitting areas on the lower level. This design allows for more headroom in the aft portion of the stateroom. The three opening port lights provide natural light and ventilation. By setting the innerspring mattress diagonally Maritimo has managed to fit a king size bed in this luxurious master stateroom.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Review: Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht 07

Forward is the guest VIP stateroom with a queen innerspring mattress set centerline surrounded by countertops and storage lockers. Our Rosewood Amtico flooring is carried all the way forward into the guest VIP. There is private access to the starboard day head complete with a large shower and an overhead hatch for ambient lighting and ventilation.

The third stateroom has twin size bunks with adequate storage lockers.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Review: Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht 09

The best part of any boat review is the sea trial and every sea trial starts with getting the boat underway, even with the wind blowing at 15 knots and keeping you pinned securely to the dock after pulling the lines off the heavy bollards. Just a few feet off the stern is another new and expensive plastic boat and five feet from the bow is a dock with concrete piles just waiting to grab the bow pulpit and leave a few marks. Thanks to the optional hydraulic bow and stern thrusters and ZF joystick control, sliding the boat five-feet to the right, bringing the bow around to clear the last piece of concrete and then powering into the wind was uneventful. Of course I had strategically placed lookouts calling out distances to hard objects, mostly in feet, occasionally in inches. The ZF joystick integrates thruster operation with the Volvo straight shaft main propulsion and, with a little practice, will help provide confidence in maneuvering around the dock in unfavorable conditions.

Departing Richardson Bay we decide to head to Ayala Cove for some stills and to see how she behaves around the docks and moorings in calmer conditions. On our way through the minimum wake area from Clipper Yacht Harbor to Richardson Bay buoy #2, I have the time look around the fully enclosed flybridge and play with the equipment. As typical with the Maritimo yachts, the flybridge is more like a second story than it is helm station. From up here we can cruise in comfort in any conditions with the reverse-cycle heating and cooling managing the environment and when we are secured for the night we can fold out the optional sofa bed to accommodate more family or friends.

Then there is the aft patio with a large seating area that actually overhangs the deck. All we needed was a couple of deck chairs and a table and we would have the perfect spot for a sunset port and cigar.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Review: Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht 10

At the helm we have the familiar combination of Volvo engine monitoring integrated with the dual Garmin 16-inch glass bridge MFDs. The dash is clean with a single row of button switches to control the essential battery powered functions located under the Volvo seven inch display. The dual Pompanette helm chairs with folding arms and flip up bolsters makes it easy to get comfortable, either sitting or standing. The throttle controls, thruster controls, optional joystick, autopilot controls and windshield wiper controls are all along the starboard sill and within easy reach of the skipper’s right hand. At first glance, the windshield looks to be one piece but on closer inspection it is really three separate glass panes with very narrow mullions. Toss in the opening side windows and electric sunroof and the overall second story is well appointed, practical, and stylish.

Having maneuvered all through the empty moorings of the cove while the drone got videos and our photographers, Ty and Tom, taking enough still shots to fill a memory card, it was finally time to head outside the gate and get sloppy. Agreeing to go around the East side of Angel Island and make a brief stop at the cove south of Point Simpton for a few stills with some sun, we quickly find the water choppy as we scream past Point Blunt at 20 knots.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Review: Maritimo M51 Luxury Motoryacht 12

After nearly an hour of running through the roughest water we can find at wide open throttle trying hard to spray the camera boat, the drone has all the footage we need. One last pass close by the photographers and it is time to head back to Sausalito and put her to bed.

Much like boating in the Delta. At our marina, the boats just sit and die.

  • Feb 7, 2018

Thanks for the post......I still watch this site as I love the delta so. I will be up there next weekend starting out at B&W going up to Guisti's,...then old town Sac then cruising back down to Stockton . You put a good boat, stocked with world class whiskey and cigars.....can,t get better than that. Let's hope foe a good year for the old swamp DBH

Since I'm still a land lubber, my trips to the delta these days consist of an occasional lunch at The Point or Foster's Bighorn. I was just reading an old May 1997 edition of the Bay & Delta Yachtsman that I have. The 'swamp sure has changed in the last 21 years. So many people, places and things are long gone.

Well-known member

i cruised the delta twice from Sf in the early 80s. Even then while it was somewhat popular it was run down. perhaps people considered that part of the charm but it seemed to me that most of the places were on their way out because owners could not afford to maintain them for a weekend crowd. Tiki huts, panties on the ceiling and IITYWBAD only work once.

It is so difficult to maintain and prosper a delta Marina, bar or restaurant that a lot of places simply close up. In time the old swamp reclaims everything and it all becomes rotted wood and mud again. I am sick when I see Helen and Hermans, The Outrigger, Lost Isle, Das Cliffhouse, MooresRiverboat and so many others just succumb to deferred maintenance and lack of capitol. I will always cruise up there because there is little else that brings me so much pleasure as putting the hook out in some quiet slough and having a lemonade or two and watching the sun set. DBH

  • Feb 12, 2018

Every year we cruise the Delta for about a week. First stop is always Benicia and second stop is Rio Vista. After that, it is open. This summer we are planning to make it to Giusti. Can anyone suggest a good itinerary starting from Sausalito?

I still shed a tear when I drive past Das Cliff Haus and see the state it is in. The first time I ever went to the delta, back in the summer of 1992, that is where we went. After that we cruised down 160 and ended up in a strange little town. There were signs everywhere advertising something - we were like, what the heck is a Crawdad Festival? Another world ago .....

Does anyone know if they still have the Isleton Crawdad Festival...it used to draw thousands to the delta. SBH

  • Feb 13, 2018

The Crawdad Festival from the 1990s and early 2000s is long gone. Apparently the folks who owned the rights to it, moved it to, I believe Red Bluff. Politics apparently played part in killing it too. There have been some small cajun type festivals but nothing to compare to the classic festival. Think the last time I went that it was still fun was 2006.

There is the Nautical Swap Meet, thinking of heading out there, if it happens this year. Driftwood Marina is also having a 2nd annual swap meet sometime this year.

Tower Park getting much money pumped into it, but now its Jellystone. Rosa's restaurant gone. Rosa's nightclub gone...all the events they had every year like Rocking on the River for wounded warriors and the old WW2 collectors gone.. now they got Yogi the bear. They are going to open a new restaurant, don't know about live music. they will also have minature golf and a water park, so we will have to see.

  • Mar 14, 2018

Though I preferred its previous version, the Tower Park Bar and Grill, sad to see another one of the old delta 'joints' closing. Sounds like whatever replaces Rosa's will be much more family friendly due to Jellystone taking over.

  • Apr 26, 2018

Looks like a replacement for Rosa's is almost ready to go. The Tower Park Waterfront Grille will open on May 1st. Appears to be an upscale place.

  • May 4, 2018

I heard that the Windmill has had some renovations for the new season. I saw a picture on FB of a new overhang on the deck. Will have to check it out when I get the boat wet.

  • May 22, 2018

sorry to say,the waterfront grill at Tower Park is just horrible. over priced trying to be fancy and it just sucked. going to go to the loop to eat from now on.

  • May 25, 2018

Are there guest docks at the Waterfront grill?

  • May 28, 2018

There is lots of guest dock space throughout the restaurant and Tower Park area. Depending on when you go, it can get crowded. Yelp reviews for the Tower Park Waterfront Grill are showing up now. All very positive. Am hoping somebody will post pictures soon.

“Yachtsman of the year” vol. 2: families, adventurers and sea wolves

bay and delta yachtsman

Magazine Yacht Russia has awarded the winners of its premium version

The ceremony of the second “alternative” award “yachtsman of the year” by the magazine Yacht Russia ceremoniously passed the evening of 29 November in the Moscow theatre “Russian song”.

Although unlike similar awards of the all-Russian yachting Federation (ryf) or PROyachting during the celebration Yacht from Russia is not awarded to the best photographers-marine painters, in anticipation of the start of the ceremony, guests could admire the exhibition “the Aristocrats of the seas” from the Naval photographic collection. The public has seen these images of Russian big sailing ships “Kruzenshtern”, “Nadezhda”, “Pallada”, “World”, “Hersonissos” and “Sedov”, for example, in February of this year, during the festival “Pristine nature” in the Central house of the artist. But let’s be honest: even if you look at these pictures is not the first time, they are still impossible to look away.

This year the prize celebrates two anniversaries at once. First, if you do not take into account the division of a single “Yachtsman of the year” in 2017 in two separate awards because of the conflict of the WFTU and the Yacht Russia, in 2018, the prize is awarded for the tenth time. Second, in 2018, the 300th anniversary of creating the world’s first yacht club — “Hereditary Nevsky fleet” or “fleet of the Neva” was established in 1718 by Peter the great . It is considered that it was then in Russia began sailing.

the idea of the rich heritage and continuity of a sailing tradition in Russia became the leitmotif of this award.

In the scenario award went to the album of Sergey Borisov “300 years. The history of sailing of Russia”, published with the support of Yacht Russia. The event was opened by an excursion into the history of the creation of “Neva fleet”. Before each nomination prize first virtual was given to any of the famous Russian explorers of the past centuries. And after — their descendants of the twenty-first century.

One of the first reward in the shape of a boat was Tatyana Zhuravleva, coach of Moscow in Windsurfing, the mentor is the bronze medalist of the youth Olympic games in 2018 Yana Reznikova and bronze medalist of the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 Stephanie Eluting .

bay and delta yachtsman

“A huge thank you to my athletes for their tremendous work. You guys are the best! Love you! And yet, the parents of my athletes. If not for you, we definitely couldn’t have done it!” — said from the scene Zhuravleva.

The award Tatiana Zhuravleva presented the honored USSR master of sport, world champion, Europe, USSR and Russia Georgy Shayduko , who this week will travel to the Bahamas to represent our country at the prestigious Star Sailors League.

“Coach — a good coach — it’s for life. Today, here in the hall, sitting my first coach Esaulov Nikolai. We walked from the age of ten. Honored man — brought up a huge galaxy of riders. I believe that without a coach, no victory” — concluded Shayduko.

Where is the best trainer there is and best sailing school. The award in this category went to the sports school on sailing “Krestovskiy Ostrov” ( St. Petersburg ), created just a year ago. But the tenacity and enthusiasm of the pupils of the school are the envy of many. It’s no joke — at competitions of various level, they have already gained 55 gold, 54 silver and 38 bronze medals. More than 20 athletes from the “Krestovsky island” are part of the Olympic team.

bay and delta yachtsman

From training to competition. And competitions, of course, is impossible without judges.

“The judicial work is probably one of the most difficult. You’re always a target: your solution is always for someone plus, for someone a minus. You always “blame” either for one side or the other. You need tremendous courage to be a judge,” said head of school “Krestovsky island” and a former head coach of the Olympic team of Russia on sailing Natalia Fedorova appeared on the scene to announce the name of the judge.

The jury awarded the prize honored coach and honored master of sports of the Russian Federation Sergey Kuzovov who for the second season in a row was a judge for more than 30 regattas. Award for Kuzovova has been a long time — he has four times been nominated for “Judge of the year”.

bay and delta yachtsman

“The officiating crew is not one person. I Express my gratitude to everyone who worked with me this year, including fellow nominees. Thank you very much!” — said Body.

The other nominee was a member of the Committee of the racing rules and appeals ryf, member of the Subcommittee match racing and test-instructor videoconferencing ryf Veniamin Gusev and the Secretary of the largest all-Russian competitions in various types of sail racing Svetlana Mansurova .

The other side of the competition — their media coverage. A journalist who in 2018 coped with it better, was Alex Fat — the Director for public relations of the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg, creating videos and programs on sailing channel “Match!”.

bay and delta yachtsman

The prize “For contribution to the development of sailing” has received Andrey Kislov — the person who gave the development of the sail 70 (!) years of my life! He first became interested in this sport in 1948 when he was only 12 years old. Over the years he became a four-time winner of the national Championships, he was Deputy Chairman, Chairman of the FPS of the USSR in the years 1963-1989, and a member and Vice-President of the International sailing Union in the years 1976-1990. Just a few days ago, on November 26, he was 82 years old.

“I first saw him in 1974. For me it was God, which makes regattas, directs the sail. Then he carried the flag at the Olympics because he is one of those who was organized, of “dragging”. I tip my hat to his power and spirit before the work which he puts in the sails,” said about the winner of the Olympic champion in 1980 in the class of “Star” Alexander Muzychenko , who presented the award on stage.

bay and delta yachtsman

“I’m worried: at this age, you give me such an award — “For contribution to the development of sailing”. I would like to repeat: in the development of sailing, not in its destruction. We experienced different periods. The time was such: to throw stones. And now we see on this magnificent holiday, what time has turned, and it is time to gather stones”, — said Kislov.

He also thanked all who helped him in his work for life.

“Of course, without their friends, colleagues, coaches, and of course, I wouldn’t be able to do it all. The prize you decide to give me, it is definitely, in part, those colleagues, those friends, those people who have supported me in life. This is your prize” — added Kislov.

The next one this evening honored on the stage of “Russian song”, was the best organizer of the competition.

“The organizers of the competition gets the heavy bread at any regatta. Athletes will get their fun from racing — that’s for sure. The judges will get another category and a worthy reward for their work. But the organizer is not known to anyone”, — said the President of the FPS in Moscow region, member of the Presidium of the WFTU and the master of sports of the international class Valery Pilchin before the name of the winner.

The award came on the scene Andrew Poltanov . Created in 2002 regatta with a change of crews on the “Rays” “Who is Who” today is the most popular and affordable such event in Russia. Every year, the regatta is held in new regions of the country, popularizing sailing even where it is insufficient or not developed.

Another true veteran of sailing, whose merits noted by the jury of the “Yachtsman of the year” became the winner in the nomination “For loyalty to the sail” — Rostislav Alexandrovich novoderezhkin . In 1957, he won the USSR championship in class “M”, in 1965 — “the flying Dutchman”, in the same class repeatedly won competitions and participated in international regattas in England, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Norway, USA . In the class “Carter 30” 11 times won the Cup “Onega”, three times — Aegean regatta (with transitions Moscow — Athens and back), also won “the Cup of Baltic” and “Black sea Cup”.

Unfortunately, the 80-year-old Rostislav Alexandrovich was unable to attend the ceremony. Instead, he got up on stage his sons and grandson, who, incidentally, also love sailing. For example, in 2018, the father and the son Andrew and Dmitry Novoderezhkin participated in the world championship “flying Dutchman” took the first place in the standings.

“Of course, in the age,” can you think about the winner. But there it was!

This year he participated in the regatta “the flying Dutchman” in Moscow and won it, and the ceremony couldn’t come because, according to the sons, “the works on the yacht did not allow him”!

Next to go on stage came the turn of the winners in the nomination “the Best distant sports campaign”.

“Can you imagine what the nominees! Some (Yacht Rusarc Aurora, approx. ed.) is now somewhere in Antarctica, the second (Travely-Family couple Klochkova approx. ed.) with kids in the Pacific ocean. About “Akela” do not say — they were nominated for this award even when Elena Vladimirovnoj (wife, approx. ed) got it in 2014 after returning from around the world”, — said Andrey Nevzorov, who came on stage to declare the winner .

The winners were in the hall. They were captain-coach “Akela” Alexey chegurov and his loyal senior assistant Anastasia Podobed , under whose leadership annually for many years, pass practice cadets of the University of sea and river fleet named after Admiral S. O. Makarov. The crew regularly participates in European regattas, and often wins prizes.

Finally, it was time for the main awards of the award “Yachtsman of the year, Yachtsmen of the year” and “Sailing team of the year”.

10 anniversary award went to the team “Russian knights” — the winning in 2018, the 600-mile race Rolex Middle Sea Race in the class crews-twos Rutovu Igor and Vyacheslav Martynov . At full strength the team also won bronze at the world championship in the Melges 20 class.

“For the second year running Igor Rytov becomes a prize winner and is unable to because of the most respectful: he is once again at the races, far away, the ocean. If Igor will continue to be so successful, I’m afraid we have to move the date of the award. Well, the place: where he will be chasing” joke leading.

The award went to the scene the friend and ally of the “Heroes” — Oleg Gusev .

bay and delta yachtsman

“The team is not only shoesnot and tactics, it is also something more subtle psychic organization, delicate tinctures. In 2013, Igor was fortunate enough to meet with the guys: Contantino ( by Rasputinym approx. ed) and Anton ( Sergeev , approx. ed). And this year, this month celebrates the fifth anniversary mini anniversary,” — said Gusev.

The yachtswoman of the year admitted a student of the “Coach of the year” Tatiana Zhuravleva — Jan resnikoff .

“I would like to thank the organizers of this award. For me it’s a great motivation. And a great opportunity to change the suit to something more elegant!” — laughed the girl, getting up on stage.

It’s funny that the silhouette of her dress still vaguely resembled a light wetsuit with short sleeves and trousers.

bay and delta yachtsman

“A big thank you to my coach: “coach of the year” Tatyana Zhuravleva and Boris Minaev. And, of course, I want to say a huge thank you to my mother. Though there is no such category, but I think she is worthy of the title “mother of the year”,” continued Reznikova seriously.

Last on stage was to climb the winner of the “yachtsman of the year”. Intrigue was added by the fact that two of the three nominees for the award were father and son: Vladimir and Daniil Krutskikh .

“Vova, lost son! Give a place on the podium!” — joked the friends of Vladimir, while the organizers talked about the nominees.

But the jury was not in accordance with them. The double world champion Finn-masters Vladimir Krutskikh still out for a well-deserved award. In 2018, he won the first European championship in this class.

bay and delta yachtsman

“I want to share this award with my son. I believe he is also worthy of it. Thanks to him, I have tops, which I have not yet reached. I hope we’ll achieve them with him. Maybe we can race together on the same yacht may compete in different ways,” said cruit.

When all the heroes of the night received their awards, it was time for a celebratory champagne, appetizers, socializing, and, of course, music. And all that awaited the guests of the award in the lobby of the theater. Orchestra, Touche!

From Paris to the Caribbean, use these travel ideas to plan your next trip

  • Cindy Cockburn Tampa Bay Times

SeaDream Yacht Club – Caviar, Champagne and barbecue

All SeaDream Yacht Club voyages in the Caribbean include a signature Champagne & Caviar Splash beach party. Executive chef Elton Tabaj and his galley team transport the five-star kitchen from the yacht to the beach. Passengers are served a lavish beach barbecue, cooked to perfection. All guests don bathing suits and the captain joins in for an informal day playing Robinson Crusoe. In fact, be prepared to get soaking wet. You will arrive on the island via a Zodiac boat that shuttles passengers from the yacht directly to the white, sandy beach. I attended the beach party in White Bay on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands during a recent cruise. What a great way to spend a winter afternoon! And the best part? Skip the high resort rates and book the intimate cruise with only 150 passengers.

Paris is always a good idea

The Olympics may be over, but we still can’t get enough of the French. A recent report from GlobalData announced that France is on track to become the most visited country by 2025, when 93.7 million international travelers are expected to visit there.

Delta Air Lines offers several options while traveling from Tampa to Paris. I usually stop in Atlanta to connect with Air France for a seamless experience. I recently discovered a “secret” and luxurious way to get to Europe. Friends rave about the 10-year-old French boutique airline called La Compagnie. The flights only depart from Newark Liberty International Airport, but it’s totally worth the trip to New Jersey. Once on board, the plane offers 76 seats that all turn into flatbeds. It’s a business-class airline experience to Paris, Milan or Nice. And the food is marvelous.

For the ultimate Parisian culinary experience, secure a table at Le Jules Verne. Located at the top of the Eiffel Tower, the views are spectacular from this world-famous restaurant. Watch the calendar and make sure to book 90 days in advance and be prepared to pay ahead as well (a $500 deposit is the norm for a table for two). When you factor in the advantage of skipping the long entry line and the overall once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of dining in the Eiffel Tower, the experience is well worth the cost. Perched at a height of 410 feet, you will even have your own private elevator to the restaurant. The dress code, an elegant outfit and no shorts or sportswear, is strictly enforced. Suit jackets are mandatory for men.

Closer to home, Travel + Leisure magazine recently named St. Petersburg the Best Food City in the U.S. We found a tiny slice of Paris in St. Petersburg. When you check in to the newly renovated Vinoy Resort, you’ll be invited on Friday and Saturday from 3-5 p.m. to meet the new executive pastry chef Armand Berger and sample complimentary Champagne and nibbles from Lottie, the new patisserie located in the hotel’s lobby.

Tropic Ocean Airways salutes Jimmy Buffett Day

Tropic Ocean Airways is the largest commercial amphibious airline and is ready to entertain all Parrotheads. To celebrate Jimmy Buffett Day on Aug. 30, they are launching an epic package with Baker’s Cay Resort, a nature-inspired luxury resort on the Overseas Highway in Key Largo. Inspired by the legendary singer-songwriter, this unique trip offers a fun-filled adventure over Labor Day weekend and includes a one-way Tropic Ocean Airways seaplane adventure for two departing from Sheltair Terminal at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and landing at Baker’s Cay Resort. The three-night waterfront king guest room package is valid only from Aug. 30 through Sept. 2. It includes complimentary return shuttle service to Miami International Airport or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The Resort at Longboat Key Club

Having more space is a priority for families. Nearly three in five guests say being able to fit all their family members in one place is a major deciding factor when booking a vacation. Some of the top trending destinations near the water for families this summer are Melbourne, Australia and Nassau, Bahamas.

We already live in paradise with a variety of resort options just a short drive away, no passport required. We talked to Diane Lopez, the director of resort operations at The Resort at Longboat Key Club near Sarasota, where the Gulf waters are beautiful, the beach cabanas are huge and the suites are grand. The two-bedroom suites overlook the pool and the Gulf of Mexico with a living room that includes a queen-sized sleeper sofa, a full kitchen, a washer and dryer and a private balcony. Don’t miss Latitudes restaurant for delicious menu options in the resort, offering both “land” (a 16-ounce rib-eye steak) and “sea” (spiny lobster curry) options with Ed Geyfman as executive chef. Great to find out a kids dinner menu is available. Grown-ups will love checking out the resort’s Tavern & Whiskey Bar with over 100 different types of whiskey.

Sports are key here on the Key. Briana François is the director of racquet sports, tennis and pickleball and reports that there are eight new pickleball courts at the resort. They have lessons almost daily. The resort store supports local women-owned vendors. Peaceful tip: Check out the many treatment rooms and new sound therapy beds in the spa. Naps encouraged!

Delta Accelerates the Acquisition of the Horne and Laurie Properties with a New Agreement at the Delta-1 Property in Thunder Bay, Ontario

K ingston, Ontario–(Newsfile Corp. – August 26, 2024) – Delta Resources Limited (TSXV: DLTA) (OTC Pink: DTARF) (FSE: 6GO1) (“Delta” or “The Company”) is pleased announce that it reached an agreement with the original vendors of the Horne and Laurie properties at the Delta-1 property in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The new agreement will eliminate the future cash payments of $350,000 and work commitments of $1,000,000 over the next three years.

On May 1, 2024, Delta announced an agreement with Sky Gold Corp. whereby Delta was assuming the Horne and Laurie Properties’ agreement with the original Vendors of the properties ( https://www.deltaresources.ca/news/delta-expands-its-land-position-at-the-delta-1-property-in-thunder-bay-ontario/ ).

Under this new agreement dated August 22, 2024, Delta will acquire a 100% interest in both Horne and Laurie properties by issuing a total of 2,000,000 shares (25% of the shares will vest every 4 months from the date of issuance) and issue 1,500,000 warrants of Delta, at a price of $0.12, for a period of 24 months.

The vendors will retain Net Smelter Return Royalty (“NSR”) on the properties. This NSR Royalty will be covered under the same agreement as the NSR Royalty on the original Delta-1 property option dated October 02, 2019 whereby the Vendors retain a 1.75% NSR Royalty on all three (3) properties. Delta will have a right to buyback a 0.75% interest until October 2, 2026 for $500,000 and the remaining 1.00% interest thereafter for the sum of $4,000,000. Delta also retains a right of first refusal on any offer to buy any NSR interest by a third party after October 2, 2026.

Under the Sky Gold and Delta agreement, dated April 30, 2024, Sky also retains a 1% NSR royalty with Delta having the option to buyback a 0.5% NSR at anytime for $1M and having a right of first refusal on the second 0.5% NSR.

Together, the properties consist of 113 claim units covering approximately 24 square kilometres. The claims are contiguous with the original Delta-1 property (see map figure 1).

The agreement is subject to regulatory approval.

“This is another strategic acquisition for Delta. The property package assembled in the Shebandowan Belt covers over 306 square kilometres of very prospective ground in the belt. With this agreement, none of the properties require any work commitments and minimal cash and share payments in the future. This provides Delta with enormous flexibility about where to spend its exploration dollars. Delta will therefore continue to grow the gold inventory at Eureka while exploring this expansive land package,” said André Tessier, President and CEO.

About Delta Resources Limited

Delta Resources Limited is a Canadian mineral exploration company focused on growing shareholder value through the exploration of two very high-potential gold and base-metal projects in Canada.

DELTA-1 is Delta’s flagship project, where the company is building on a large gold inventory 50 kilometres west of Thunder Bay, Ontario, at surface and adjacent to the Trans-Canada highway. To date, the gold mineralization is defined over a strike length of 2.0 km, from surface to a vertical depth of 250 m. Highlights include drill intercepts such as 5.92 g/t Au over 31 m (incl. 14.8 g/t Au over 11.9 m), and 1.79 g/t Au over 128.5 m. The property covers 306 square kilometres where Delta has identified multiple corridors of intense alteration and deformation, on strike with, and to the south of the Eureka gold zone and that has yet to be thoroughly explored.

The DELTA-2 property covers 205 square kilometres in the prolific Chibougamau District of Quebec. The property holds excellent potential for gold-rich polymetallic VMS deposits as well as hydrothermal-gold deposits. Delta targets VMS deposits such as the LeMoine past producer where 0.76 Mt were mined between 1975 and 1983, grading 9.6% Zn, 4.2% Cu, 4.5 g/t Au and 84 g/t Ag.

ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF DELTA RESOURCES LIMITED.
