Established over 40 years ago, The Moorings Yacht & Country Club is one of Vero Beach’s most prestigious, private clubs. Located on the shores of the Indian River Lagoon, a piece of paradise awaits you. The Club has 625 Full Golfing Members totaling over 1,000 golfing men and women.

FAZIO’S HAWK'S NEST COURSE AND DYE’S SIGNATURE COURSE

Designed by Jim Fazio in 1987 the Hawk's Nest Course provides one of the most memorable golf experiences in Florida. Challenging, world renowned, with high elevations, its a green course with no surrounding homes, and an incredible layout that will truly captivate you! Hawk’s Nest is known as a true "shot makers" course. The 18-hole Par 72 course is one of the few “green courses” left in Florida. Long holes, none of them being exactly the same, and sand dunes along the fairways beckoning a player’s ball. Hawk’s Nest enjoys a reputation as one of the finest courses on Florida’s East Coast.

Pete Dye's Moorings Course will challenge your short game, provide hours of fun golf, all while enjoying breathtaking views of the Indian River Lagoon. The entire front nine is simply majestic; surrounded by the river, featuring 40 species of birds, and over 200 Florida Native Palms.

Both properties are certified by The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses (ACSP), which helps to enhance wildlife habitats and protect natural resources for the benefit of people, wildlife, and the game of golf.

Provide a memorable and positive experience for our members via exemplary service, first-class facilities, engaging programs, and dedicated and friendly staff within an environment of mutual respect and open communication, while encouraging member play by fostering an environment of inclusion. Respect and enhance the beauty of our riverfront and mainland campuses while providing excellence in dining, athletic, recreational, boating, wellness, and social amenities within a framework of fiscal stability.

THE OPPORTUNITY

A confident, professional presence and serve as an engaged ambassador who interacts positively with all members and their guests. The primary responsibility is to provide a consistent, exceptional golf experience through effective communication, leadership, and the development of a high performing team. Collaboration with the various department heads and Golf and Green committees will be important.

The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and management skills, credible golf playing skills, instructional expertise, knowledge of current technology for teaching and communication, and strong business acumen and merchandising capabilities. A desire to be the leader of a service-oriented team in the Golf Operation.

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and manage the fiscal responsibilities for all golf areas including planning, forecasting, budget development, management, and creating accurate monthly reports for the Executive Committee.

Utilize all software programs to their full capability.

Assimilate and build relationships with current staff members; design and implement performance strategies that promote a positive workplace, enhance key employee retention, and improve overall member satisfaction.

Responsible for hiring, training, developing and evaluating golf operations staff.

Educate members in their obligation to care for and maintain the courses in a premier condition and enforce same in a professional manner.

Building an energetic, active and member focused team.

Provide an exceptional golf experience for our members.

Taking an active role in onboarding new members, ensuring they understand group play and how to navigate the tee times policy.

Take initiative in communicating with the Food & Beverage Manager and Golf Course Superintendents on upcoming events, guests on property and daily activities.

Create and implement exciting tournaments and programming while honoring the current traditions of the club.

Elevate the instructional programming, implementing relevant technologies and training staff on the art of teaching

Play golf with a variety of Members when time permits.

Represent the Club in a professional and positive manner both on and off property.

Effectively communicate with members regarding improvements, changes, upcoming events and anything that will effect the golf experience.

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

Class A, PGA or LPGA Member in good standing.

A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Class A professional at a private club

A minimum of 10+ years of active experience managing / leading a multi faceted golf operation, (2 courses with separate staffs, pro shops, geographic separations, and a diverse golf membership in terms of age, playing experience and skill level.)

Must be able to sort and support the needs of the many vs. particular needs of a few.

Must be passionate about the profession, enjoy spending time at the Club and having fun

High-level proficiency in software applications and other technology

Excellent interpersonal communication skills in both written and verbal formats.

Experienced manager, (supervision, delegation, financial acumen, etc.)

Demonstrated Leadership, (inspires subordinates and others.)

Maintains a professional image within the club and the South Florida PGA Section

Must understand the South Florida market.

The Director of Golf will have the experience and knowledge to operate a premier golf operation with multiple campuses while building, mentoring and leading a team in accordance with the expectations of the Executive Committee and Members.

Engaging, personable and approachable, open to and seeks feedback.

Passionate about golf and possesses a thorough knowledge of the game that respects tradition and history while introducing new innovative ideas and approaches.

Inclusive – promotes an environment that is open to new ideas, skill levels and celebrates personal and cultural differences.

Genuine- naturally connects with people and is regarded as authentic in their approach toward relationships.

Encourages collective input from others, provides clear direction and welcomes shared input from members, staff, and leadership.

Proactive – possesses a “can do attitude” and actively looks for ways to add recognizable value to each encounter.

The Director of Golf will have a warm and engaging presence and continue to enhance the culture of the club by setting high standards of service, developing standard operating procedures, and training staff to consistently execute on these standards. Additionally, the club employs an engaged staff, and the Director of Golf must be collaborative, communicative, and quickly assimilate into this cohesive, high-performing team.

Uses benchmarks to evaluate and improve the members golf experience.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN....... The Moorings began as 535 acres of mangrove swamp turned to a thriving waterfront community of over 350 single family luxury homes and 850 cottages and townhomes. Purchased in the late 1950's by Julio Lobo, a Cuban sugar baron and father of Leonor Lobo-de Gonzalez, the acreage was unusable in its natural state. It was later dredged on a massive scale, with the fill piled high in order to create fingers of land reinforced by eight miles of sea wall. The Moorings was created and designed primarily as a boating community.

I've been going to the moorings for the past couple years and it is so much fun for everyone that goes. Amazing staff, food, views, amenities and so much more. Definitely recommend

The Moorings Yacht and Country Club offers amazing facilities and activities. The food is delicious and the service is friendly and professional. With the deep water docks, it is a unique place

Great place! My sis in law booked her bday party here and it was a good choice. Staff was friendly and attentive and the food and drink was delish. Beautiful view at sunset so we took plenty of pics then.

The food we had was all around pretty solid...but the service was the worst I've ever received in my life. Absolutely embarrasing for the management and for our server, redheaded male wont write his name. Forgot our order, then continually had to wait 20 minutes just to get a busboy to help get a request in. Heres the deal.....their tip is included and it's guaranteed so no incentive I guess. But other clubs I go to dont get away with such awful attention and execution, why can the Moorings....I don't get it?

Dear Justin M., We are sorry to hear of your unfortunate dining experience at The Moorings. We are a private country club and unfortunately do not have any members named Justin M from Lake Worth. It appears you came as a guest. I am happy to look into this matter further but would need to know the member in which you visited the Club with. We strive to create an excellent member experience in every area of the Club and appreciate your constructive feedback.

This company treats their employees horrible, unfairlyb and makes employees do hard labor even though they've just gotten out of the hospital, they don't care if you get hurt at work. The managers are extremely rude to the employees and customers. This is not a place to go at all for anyone. I wouldn't recommend it all all. This place treated people horrible and no one should come here:
