AMMONITE yacht for charter sleeps 6 guests in 3 deluxe double cabins comprising a master cabin forward and each one double bed and twin bed cabin amidships on the portside. The crew quarter for 3 with the fully-equipped galley is located aft and is accessed independently not interfering with the private guest areas. Needless to say that all cabins feature air condition and own ensuite bathroom facilities. The open-space salon is located in between the twin and the double cabin making use of the yacht's wide beam and offers dining and seating areas that are cozy and modern at the same time. Clean uncluttered lines, fine fabrics, leather, natural colors, and finishes are blended with bleached oak joinery with wengé and carbon inserts set off by polished stainless steel are put to the fore.

Southern Wind Launches “Ammonite”

Southern Wind in Cape Town, South Africa, has launched Ammonite , the third hull of the SW96 model.
Ammonite is the second Southern Wind built for Marcus Blackmore, whose Blackmores Ltd. sells vitamin and herbal products in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
“When we started building the SW82 Ammonite , Marcus Blackmore’s first SWS yacht, he trusted us to have the technical knowledge, design features and craftsmanship skills to build his ideal yacht,” SWS commercial director Andrea Micheli stated in a press release. “During the build process we also discovered that there was true friendship underlying our relationship. We have added this secret ingredient in the construction of his second yacht with us.”
After she’s delivered to the owner, Ammonite is expected to cruise to Australia and New Zealand, where the owner, captain and crew will defend their title in the Millennium Cup. From there, the yacht is bound for Southeast Asia and Alaska in tandem with the 2022 Transpacific Race.
When will Ammonite be delivered? The plan is for delivery at the end of September in Cape Town.

Ammonite is the third hull of Southern Wind SW82 miniseries, a yacht with a highly competitive nature launched in 2016. Ammonite is 24.86 meters long and has been designed by Farr Yacht Design, general concept, exterior and interior design by Nauta Yachts. Ammonite is the perfect expression of both sensational performance and comfortable and safe family cruising. Her hull, deck and superstructure are in sandwich composite with carbon fibre, Kevlar and epoxy resin distributed by infusion. Ammonite’s exterior has been extensively customized to make the yacht enjoyable both in light breezes and heavier weather conditions. Ammonite’s interior are modern, contemporary yet welcoming and practical. Clear lines with textured natural finishes and colours dominate the space. The interior layout features a large en suite master cabin forward, in the quietest area of the yacht. A double VIP cabin, also forward, with ensuite bathroom and a guest cabin with two single beds amidships provides ample accommodation and extreme privacy for all guests on-board. Crew quarters and galley aft. The “casual lounge” open space saloon has two coffee tables, one that flips open to reveal a custom made wooden Scrabble table. Bleached oak furniture is trimmed with wengè inserts and carbon fibre, chocolate leather is set off by polished stainless steel.

An east London school is grappling with the loss of a respected alumnus after British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch drowned when his superyacht capsized off the coast of Italy. Yet for Bancroft’s School in Woodford Green, it marks the third high-profile death in the course of 14 months. Firstly, in June 2023, former pupil Grace O’Malley-Kumar was stabbed to death in Nottingham by Valdo Calocane. Then, in April this year, pupil Daniel Anjorin, 14, was attacked and killed while walking in his school uniform. The independent school is now once again in the headlines after 59-year-old Mr Lynch, who was the lead patron of the Bancroft Foundation, died in his boat the Bayesian , which sank during stormy weather on Monday morning.  The tycoon had attended Bancroft’s School after winning a scholarship at the age of 11, before going on to study at Christ’s College Cambridge. He became a multi-millionaire after founding the software technology giant Autonomy in 1996 and had returned to the school to give keynote speeches and help with fundraising events. On Thursday, he was confirmed dead with his 18-year-old daughter Hannah’s body recovered the following day.  Last June, the school community was left devastated after 19-year-old O’Malley-Kumar, an aspiring medic, was killed while heroically trying to protect her friend Barnaby Webber. The two had been walking home from a night out to celebrate the end of university exams when they were ambushed by paranoid schizophrenic Calocane, who launched a merciless attack upon them both. In a statement following her death, the school described her as “an immensely gifted and dedicated scholar and sportswoman”, who had been greatly respected within the community. Less than one year later on 30 April, Daniel Anjorin was stabbed to death while he walked to school after being approached by a man with a sword.  The 14-year-old had been walking through Hainault in his school uniform when he was attacked. Suspect Marcus Monzo, 36, was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article. In a letter to parents at the time, the school’s headteacher, Simon Marshall, wrote: “Naturally this event will have a profound effect on the whole school, but this will be especially true of his peers. “It seems scarcely believable that less than a year on from the terrible death of Grace O’Malley Kumar in the Nottingham attacks we are facing fresh sorrow. “All we can do for now is to look after one another and respect the privacy of Daniel’s family.
