Still folding, of course, this new trimaran is logically much more modern than the Tricat 25 it will replace, with an added touch of comfort and agility.
The deck layout features a cockpit defined in three zones (maneuvering, helm and technical/aft deck) and, of course, two huge side trampolines. The lifting daggerboards are found on the floats, freeing up the central hull. The companionway hatch has 3 positions and can be fitted with a sprayhood and sun awning.
Inside, thanks to double chines, the 8.50 manages to offer rather decent headroom of 6 feet (1.82 m). There are proper berths, a fixed galley, heads and plenty of clever storage space. Technical specifications

BUILDERS REMARKS: The Leopard 46/Moorings 4600 is the accumulation of 30 years charter experience by the Moorings and 1000 catamarans built by Robertson and Caine. No other mid forty foot catamaran matches the interior space, walk around beds, separate stall showers with excellent sailing performance and ease of maintenance.
BROKERS REMARKS: FIREFLY was launched in 2008, and has had a refit in 2016 to a high standard, then for the past four years there have been countless upgrades, including a top of line water maker, and generator. Being a crewed yacht, the yacht is very well maintained, and the owners took the approach of an open check book during their happy ownership. Having sold many Leopard 46's over the years, this is by far the best example of this vintage. Mark Pescotts Firefly design has been successful in Australia since it was introduced in the late- 1990's. It has a mildly flared hull which allows a couple of .9 metre wide berths. Recently the design was updated and it is available as a stock boat built by Latitude 8 yachts in Thailand. A shorter rig for the NZ 8.5 rule is an option.
