90m Lürssen superyacht Norn delivered

Lürssen 's 90-metre superyacht Project 1601 has departed on her maiden voyage as Norn . According to BOATPro , she touched into the waters of Norway after departing Lürssen's facilities at the end of April. 

The yacht was commissioned by an experienced couple who previously owned a 70-metre Lürssen and joined forces once again with design legend Espen Øino . The shipyard and studio had previously collaborated on the 70.7-metre Skat , which shares a number of design features including the reverse bow, narrow rectangular windows and greenhouse-style glazing on the upper deck.

Her interior was designed by Dölker + Voges and is said to continue the themes of the exterior. Onboard highlights include an al fresco cinema and a changeable-depth pool floor with a dance floor integrated into the design.

Norn also has zero speed stabilisers and a dynamic positioning system that enables electronic anchoring, ensuring the yacht can minimise damage in sensitive regions.

Cornelsen & Partner acted as project manager in the owners’ team throughout the construction process.

The bare bones of the 90 metre were first glimpsed in May 2020 when she was sent down the slipway in Rendsburg. The shipyard described the project as "a striking design with extraordinary features" with an exterior “dominated by flat surfaces, straight lines and angular corners".

Norn was one of two yachts launched by the German shipyard in February following the grand reveal of the 145-metre Project Luminance . Other major projects currently underway at Lürssen include the 122-metre Project Jag , also due for delivery in 2023, and the 142-metre Project Alibaba .

NORN is a 90-metre motor yacht with an exterior design created by Espen Oeino International, featuring precise geometry with flat surfaces, straight lines, and angular corners. The interior was designed by Dölker & Voges Design of Hamburg. The yacht is equipped with zero-speed stabilizers for smooth and comfortable travel and offers entertainment options for every occasion, including an outdoor cinema and a liftable pool floor with dance floor illumination. A dynamic positioning system enables electronic anchoring in sensitive and remote areas, protecting the seabed and allowing for safe mooring regardless of water depth.The construction was managed by Cornelsen & Partner, who paid meticulous attention to detail to ensure that every aspect of the yacht met the highest standards of craftsmanship and innovation.

Lürssen has just dropped their official launch video of the 90m (295ft) expedition yacht NORN , known throughout her build as Project 1601, from their Rendsburg facilities in Germany last week, with footage revealing the moment it first hit the water. 

Showcasing a striking oblique reverse bow and angular profile, the German shipyard also revealed the expedition yacht’s name NORN upon her launch, which in Norse means fate. The yard is also confirmed to be behind the yacht's naval architecture, with Espen Øino International responsible for her rugged exterior styling. 

Meanwhile, the 3,600 GT yacht’s interiors are the work of Hamburg studio Dölker+Voges Design.

By watching the film clip, you can take in the expedition yacht 's utilitarian profile, befitting of her ice-class status, while her sharp exterior lines are balanced out by soft curves for a rugged yet luxurious explorer-style look.

The exact specifications of her ocean-going capabilities remain a secret, but it is expected that she will be able to cruise in some of the world’s remotest oceans.

Other Lürssen projects in the pipeline

This comes at the start of another busy year for Lürssen with the 137m (449ft) yacht LUMINANCE launched in the same week as yacht NORN, and the 125-meter Project Jag set to be delivered later this year.

Other major projects currently underway at Lürssen include the 142-metre Project Alibaba, due for delivery in 2024.

Interested in booking a yacht charter?

Expedition yacht NORN will undergo sea trials in the coming months and is expected to be delivered in the spring. It is not believed that she will be available to charter upon delivery.

Project 1601 is built by Lurssen Yachts, in collaboration with Espen Oeino and Dölker + Voges interior design.

Espen Oeino has given project 1601 a striking design with extraordinary features and which is dominated by planar surfaces, straight lines and angular corners. The crispness of the exterior styling suggests a geometrical precision that permeates every facet of the yacht. Her interior is designed by Dölker + Voges and echoes the same design themes as her exterior. Cornelsen & Partner is acting as Project Manager in the Owner’s team throughout the construction process.

The 90-metre/295ft superyacht PROJECT 1601 was revealed at Lurssen shipyard.

Motor yacht PROJECT 1601 was designed by world-renowned Espen Oeino . So far very little is known about the new boat. Lurssen have not released any official images at this stage but the video below shows the technical launch of PROJECT 1601.

The yacht enthusiasts have mentioned on the social media that the new yacht has some similarities with famous Skat . One of the most notable features of the exterior profile is definitely the piercing bow. There will be plenty of glazing which will create bright interior living areas.

Kazan city and Tatarstan Republic of Russia coats of arms

The city of Kazan is also known as the Eternal City of Russia. The reason is not only in the number of hills on the left bank of the Volga river modern Kazan is standing on. Look at the coat of arms of Tatarstan republic .

The coat of arms of Russian Tatarstan republic consists of winged snow leopard with round shield sideways. The front right pad is uplifted. The sun's disk is a background. Tatar people national ornamental pattern is framing the whole composition. The inscription means "Tatarstan" . The wings of snow leopard consist of seven feathers, the shield rosette consists of eight petals. The colors of Tatarstan republic coat of arms are the colors of Tatarstan national flag .

The central form of Tatarstan coat of arms is winged snow leopard - the ancient deity of fertility, the protector of kids. In the Tatarstan coat of arms - the protector of Tatarstan republic people . The sun is an ancient deity of various nations. Red sun on the Tatarstan coat of arms means success, life and happiness. The round shield is the symbol of law, power and economics.

The shield aster flower with even number of petals means the source of eternal life and longevity. The uplifted front right pad of the snow leopard is the traditional heraldic gesture showing the greatness of supreme power. It also means the beginning of motion. Three golden ring shape the Tatarstan coat of arms on three levels. The mean the ideas of unity, infinity and perfection.

Golden color - the symbol of elegancy, beauty, wealth of Tatarstan land.

Green color - the symbol of spring, Tatarstan rebirth.

White color - the symbol of purity of Tatar people thoughts.

Red color -the symbol of maturity, energy, power and life.

There is a legend about this beautiful winged snow leopard depicted on the Tatarstan republic coat of arms . The legend says that a snow leopard found an orphan and saved him from enemies. It looks like the same way as a she-wolf raised the founders of Rome - Romulus and Remus.

The modern description of Russian city of Kazan coat of arms : "The black dragon with dark red wings and tongue, golden pads, claws and eyes crowned golden coronet in the silver field on the green land. The shield is crowned with Kazan cap."

The dragon is the symbol of creation and the power that helps people. The dragon has supernatural power. The dragon also symbolizes might, greatness, life, light, wisdom, invincibility, immortality and eternal rebirth. The arrow styled tongue means impulse, swiftness and purposefulness.

The green land is the keeper of life and wealth, the symbol of life. The coronet is the symbol of an advanced stage of development. Kazan cap means the status of Kazan city as a capital of territory and Kazan city ancient traditions.

The symbolic meanings of colors:

Green - the symbol of spring, joy, hope, nature, prosperity, stability.

Gold - the symbol of wealth, greatness, constancy, solidity, strength, generosity, intellect, intuition, sun light.

Silver - the symbol of perfection, nobility, peace.

Dark red - the symbol of bravery, spirit, fearlessness, maturity, energy.

Black - the symbol of sense, wisdom, honesty, humility.
