Superyacht AURORA is a 26m (84ft) superyacht whose home port is Coral Sea Marina in Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island when she is not cruising the northern waters of Tropical Far North Queensland or exploring the Sydney waterways.

Guests can enjoy freshly prepared locally sourced food and Australian wines while cruising around the visually mesmerizing islands, beaches and bays as they are individually prepared by our on-board chef and served by the attentive superyacht crew.

Hamilton Island  

The most famous Island in the Whitsundays is Hamilton Island. Our guests embark and disembark the superyacht from Hamilton Island (Berthing costs extra) or from Coral Sea Marina in Airlie Beach . We suggest that our guests ask their travel agents to book some pre-post accommodation on the island to ensure their arrival on the superyacht is not interrupted with airline delays.   

Superyacht Wining & Dining Your on-board chef will be creating culinary delights matched with wines to tantalise even the most well-developed palate for the entire cruise.

Snorkel   The Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsunday Islands  For snorkelers we will be visiting sections of the outer Great Barrier Reef where you will see both spectacular marine life and amazing corals. Friendly turtles, Giant Potato Cod and Maori Wrasse will be your companions as you navigate the pristine clear waters and coral reefs. 

Whitehaven Beach   – Whitsunday Islands Every visitor to the Whitsundays requests to visit the jewel in the Whitsunday Island crown Whitehaven Beach , so we always include a day in our superyacht itineraries for guests to explore the famous silicon sand beaches. Guests may choose to hike to Hill Inlet Lookout, comb the seven kilometre beach or take a hike to Chance Bay. The Whitehaven Beach sand contains 98% silica meaning it is extremely fine and soft, with some comparing the consistency to that of a baby powder like feel. Because of the silica, the sand does not retain heat and makes it a fantastic place to walk on bare feet, even on a hot day.

Hook Island   – Whitsundays A place not to be missed when visiting the Whitsunday Islands. Hook Island offers spectacular natural surroundings and excellent snorkelling sites. The second largest island in the Cumberland group, it is 58 square kilometres in size and includes sheltered, picturesque bays, deep fjord-like inlets, ideal for SUP boarding and kayaking. The marine life here will have you in awe of their friendliness and individual personalities. Enjoy the wildlife in the air such as eagles, kites and ospreys and underwater interactions with sea turtles, multi-coloured fish, dolphins, manta rays and even humpback whales during the months of June to September.

Nara Inlet – Whitsundays A wonderful tropical island that hides paintings dating back hundreds of years. This is a Ngaro Aboriginal cultural site and a place all guests must visit to learn all about these sea going people and their ancient culture. There is even an interactive display where you can learn about the history of the Ngaro Aboriginal people. A visit to Nara Inlet is not complete without venturing further down to the bottom of the inlet, where you will find a magical fresh-water rock pool and refreshing waterfall (seasonal). Please not this natural pool only flows during the green season.

Outer Great Barrier Reef Lagoon Our superyacht Captain always tries to take his guests to regions and locations around the Whitsunday Islands that other superyacht Captains and boats have not yet discovered and show them some of his favourite snorkel spots in a lagoon that lies 50NM from the Australian mainland. This secret outer Great Barrier Reef lagoon is only accessible under certain weather conditions.        

Hayman Island – Great Barrier Reef Hayman Island has enough options to keep the keenest snorkelers in the water all day long. Good coral and friendly fish make for a lovely session in the water and you may even get to meet the resident Humphead  Maori Wrasse named Elvis.

Relax With Unspoilt Scenery The Whitsundays scenery never fails to draw the breath as the kaleidoscope of colours and beauty intertwined mesmerise visitors. Some of the most-lush green islands are seen at every angle as they push upwards from the depth of the ocean producing enchanting scenery as you cruise by gently on your superyacht voyage.

Nature Hikes – Whitsunday Islands Explore the many secluded bays and anchorages of the Whitsunday Islands. There are plenty of great swimming spots, fishing holes and for the active we offer some hike on various islands and beaches.

No shoe policy on the superyacht – medical conditions may apply. No smoking on the superyacht without prior permission from the captain.

Travel Insurance

We highly recommend you secure comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking your YOTSPACE superyacht Holiday. This can be arranged through your luxury travel agent or a travel insurance company of your choice.  On purchasing this Travel Offer you are bound by the General Terms and Conditions, in addition to the specific terms and conditions outlined in this Important Information. Please ensure to read full Terms and Conditions . Yacht Charter Departure:  This is a sole charter YOTSPACE superyacht voyage. Each luxury yacht charter voyage is a departure based on the receipt of the full payment on or before the eighth week of embarkation. Should the yacht fail to depart voyagers will be given the option of choosing another luxury yacht option with similar or same inclusions, costs and terms and conditions of the superyacht that was originally requested. Should we not find a suitable replacement yacht a refund less any bank merchant fees and a 10% administration fee will apply. We always recommend Travel Insurance and that all ancillary travel reservations have flexible conditions.

Payment Policy To secure a luxury yacht charter voyage with YOTSPACE, a 50% deposit or full payment is required within forty-eight (48) hours of receiving confirmation of Your booking request.  Full payment is required on or before sixty (60) calendar days (8 weeks) before the Voyage Departure date. If the departure date is inside the sixty (60) calendar days (8 weeks), full payment must be paid at the time of booking.  As mentioned above, due to potential operational, Government directives, weather issues or other disasters out of our control we cannot guarantee that all voyages will depart.  Your YOTSPACE superyacht agent will notify You in the event the luxury yacht charter is cancelled. Guest Cancellations Cancellation requests must be made in writing.  You are strongly advised to speak with your YOTSPACE crew member with regard to the purchase of specific travel insurance for the luxury yacht charter at the time of booking.  Cancellation requests received sixty (60) days or less prior to voyage departure – forfeiture of 50% deposit – Should we re-sell that reserved voyage, for that departure, for that date, prior to the Superyacht charter departure, an administration fee equal to only 10% of the voyage shall apply along with any bank or merchant transfer fees.  Cancellation within Thirty (30) days or less -100% of full Charter Fare to be forfeited.  Failure to board at the time of the luxury charter yacht voyage departure – 100% of the total Voyage Fare forfeited to the Contractor YOTSPACE.  Note: Please refer to each individual private charter agreement prior to confirming your yacht charter agreement as these cancellations conditions may alter on some occasions such as peak season, special events or special offers.

Covid/ Pandemic Policy Should a pandemic or an outbreak occur and disrupt travel plans in the destination of departure or a ruling government prevent travel, all paid bookings will be held for future travel when permitted and subject to availability.  Guests may be moved to another luxury yacht charter with similar or the same terms and conditions of the deferred voyage at no charge. Guests may also have the option of a refund of monies paid less any bank merchant fees and a 10% administration fee subject to the terms and conditions of the individual yacht charter agreement. Please consult your YOTSPACE superyacht crew member and update your travel insurance policy for the change of voyage date and change of yacht.

Provisioning Policy: Should the superyacht charter voyage be cancelled last minute and the superyacht has already been supplied with the advanced provisioning of fresh food, supplies and beverages, the cost of the provisioning will be applied to your charter cost fees and no refund applies.

MY AURORA will endeavour to follow the voyage as described in the itinerary and the passenger accepts that MY AURORA has the right to change the itinerary, the yacht, or cancel the cruise as a result of some Unexpected Event or prevailing inclement weather conditions. The passenger accepts that the passenger will not be entitled to any compensation or a refund of the fare paid should this occur. Hamilton Island Transfers Hamilton Island offers a taxi service referred to as Resort Link which offers a 13 seater bus and luggage trailer to transfer passengers from the Hamilton Island Airport to Marina. Bookings can be made directly on 0437 242 847. Alternatively if you are staying on the Island transfers can be arranged through the hotel concierge.

Child Policy

As a private charter this superyacht accommodates up to 8 guests – max 8 Adults or 6 Adults and 2 Children.  All YOTSPACE sole charter superyacht voyages are intended for both adults and children who are travelling with family dependant on the region of the voyage. Children under the age of eighteen(18) (minors) will be accepted in circumstances where the charter is a sole charter voyage and cruising in a safe region. Parents and guardians are to take full responsibility for the children at all times. This must be agreed directly with the Contractor.

Covid – 19 Policy

YOTSPACE and our superyacht captains take the safety and wellbeing of passengers very seriously. The superyacht follows on-board sanitisation protocols to ensure the vessel is highly sanitised at all times. All guests are to register their principle place of residence and disclose to the company (YOTSPACE) if they have recently visited a Covid-19 hotspot in the 3 weeks prior to departure. We will require passengers to visit their GP and provide a health report 72 hours prior to departure. Whitsundays Climate & Average Temperatures

The Whitsundays enjoy a sunny climate with mild winters and warm summers, perfect for making the most of the outdoors. Plan ahead with this information on temperature and rainfall.    Summer (December – February) During the height of summer temperatures can be up to 29 to 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) Winter (June – August) Average daily temperatures range from around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius (73.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in the winter months of June and July. Keep your eyes peeled for the annual Humpback Whale migration in the Whitsundays. The other months remain a welcoming 25 degrees.

Water Temperatures The water temperatures remain a welcoming 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit)  most of the year round which means the Whitsundays waters are perfect, year round for not only swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving but all watersports.

We recommend to pack personal items in a soft bag that is easily stored with outfits for an extended beach holiday. Gratuities / Tipping

Gratuities (tips) are not included in the superyacht voyage price for services of the crew throughout the cruise. Tipping is optional and at the passengers discretion. In the superyacht industry it is normally the practice on sole charters that the prime guest gives a cash tip to the Captain and crew. However tipping the crew is entirely up to yourself. If you feel you have been extremely well looked after then we are sure the crew would really appreciate the tip. You may do this of your own accord or with your other guests on the superyacht voyage.

The cost of a yacht charter is dependent on a number of factors, including the type of yacht, the charter destination, local taxes, and the base cost. (If the yacht has a celebrity owner, well that too, can add to the cost.)

Therefore, yacht charters have a wide range of base prices. That’s why charters can cost from $10,000 per week on smaller sailing yachts and catamarans, up to $150,000+ per week on the most luxurious motor superyachts.

Yacht Charter Price Structure: “All-Inclusive” vs “Plus Expenses”

In the world of yachting, two types of crewed yacht charters are available to you – “All-Inclusive” and “Plus Expenses” charter experiences. What do these terms mean exactly? Here’s a quick look:

• All-Inclusive Yacht Charters – Some charters (mainly catamaran and monohull charters in the Virgin Islands) offer all-inclusive rates. That means rates are based on the number of guests, and they include all food and drink, water sports, and fuel costs. Dockage and taxes, though, are usually charged separately.
• Plus Expenses Charters – Rates for larger motor yachts do not include running expenses, which must be paid separately. For these luxury charters, the base price is for the yacht only. Additional expenses, i.e. food, bar, fuel, dockage, port taxes, and other expenses, are charged separately. Most frequently, the running expenses are paid by an Advance Provisioning Allowance, or APA, which is typically 35% of the base price; this is an amount that’s paid prior to the charter.

Since charter yachts are privately owned, prices are set by the owner. This can explain, in part, the wide range of differences in price between boats of similar lengths. Yet, several other factors can significantly impact price, including:

• The Yacht – The year the boat was built, the builder, previous owners, and the boat’s selection of water toys can also increase the cost of a yacht. Boats can also develop a reputation, i.e. the largest or most luxurious, or having a famous builder or previous owner. Reputation can also affect pricing.
• Season – Prices typically increase in the high season – i.e. high summer in the Mediterranean or winter in the Caribbean – and decrease in low seasons.
• Destination – Your charter destination also plays a role in charter cost. For example, prices increase in areas without large charter fleets (i.e. the Galapagos), whereas Bahamas yacht charters,   BVI charters , or Mediterranean yacht charter are priced more competitively.

Additional Costs Considerations on Yacht Charter

In addition to the cost associated with running the yacht and provisioning, there are a number of other costs that must be considered. These are the most significant:

Advanced Provisioning Allowance

The APA on Plus Expenses charters equals roughly 35% of the yacht’s base price. This is a fee that’s collected prior to charter, and it’s similar to an expense account the captain can access during the charter. At the end of the charter, you will receive a detailed accounting of your APA account, plus any unused APA funds in cash.

In the case of overages, you may be required to replenish the APA account during the charter. This can be done with cash, although many choose to set up accounts with their charter brokers , which can be accessed if requested by the captain.

Taxes and Value Added Tax (VAT)

Most boats – whether all-inclusive or Plus Expenses – will not include local taxes or a Value Added Tax into their charter rate. The charterer will be responsible for paying those taxes. Taxes range significantly by destination; here’s a look at some of yachting’s most popular destinations:

• The Bahamas – Tax: 4% plus 10% VAT
• BVI – Tax: between $6 and $16 per person per day, depending on the flag of the boat
• Croatia – VAT: 13%
• Florida – Tax: 6% for Broward County, 7% for Miami-Dade County
• France – VAT: 20%, however, 10% can be applied when an itinerary includes International Waters
• Greece – VAT: 12%
• Italy – VAT: 22%, however 6.6% (over 24m) and 8.8% (under 24m) can be applied when an itinerary includes International Waters
• Montenegro – NO VAT
• New England – NO TAX
• Spain – VAT: 21%
• Turkey – NO VAT

Charterers can purchase cancellation and curtailment insurance – which is similar to traveler’s insurance. This insurance can help cover costs if a charterer must cancel or shorten the charter. Charter brokers can help you weigh insurance options, and often offer several different options.

Crew Gratuity

While crew gratuity is certainly not mandatory, it is recommended, particularly if you were truly impressed with your charter experience. In general, crew gratuity is roughly 15-20% of the base charter rate, which is handed to the captain at the conclusion of your charter.

Delivery Fees

While these fees do not apply on most charters, you may be asked to pay delivery costs if you are not chartering in the yacht’s normal cruising ground. In most cases, you will only be required to cover the fuel for the trip.

There are a number of factors that affect charter yacht pricing. However, on average, a week-long private yacht charter costs anywhere from $10,000 on luxurious sailing yachts and catamarans, and up to $150,000 for superyachts.

What affects charter yacht prices?

There are several things that influence how much your yacht charter will cost. The type of vessel, charter destination, length of trip, base cost, time of year, and local taxes all make a difference.

How much does it cost for a crewed vessel?

Charter yacht prices do increase when hiring a crew along with the boat. At Worldwide Boat, we offer two types of crewed charter experiences: all-inclusive and plus expenses. An all-inclusive charter yacht includes accommodation for all guests, food and drink, water sport activities, and fuel costs – dockage fees and taxes are charged separately. A plus expenses experience accounts for just the yacht’s base price. Things like food, drinks, fuel, dockages, taxes, and other expenses are charged separately and are usually estimated to be about 35% of the base price.

What’s included in all-inclusive boat charters?

At Worldwide Boat, your all-inclusive charter experience includes a diligent and friendly crew, water toys, food, drinks, fuel, water and electric services, and occasionally diving experiences.

What are some additional charter boat costs to consider?

After finding a base price you’re comfortable with and evaluating your package, you’ll also want to consider delivery fees, crew gratuity, insurance fees, taxes, and Advanced Provisioning Allowance rates. If you are responsible for these fees, your crew will handle the necessary transactions on your behalf.

What does it cost to rent a 100- foot yacht charter?

This depends on what type of vessel you’re looking at and how long you’ll need it for. The average weekly cost of a 100-foot sailing yacht is between $50,000-100,000. A weekly 80-foot catamaran charter runs around $40,000-100,000, and a week-long 100-foot motor yacht rental is anywhere between $50,000-80,000.

Does the price to rent a yacht change depending on what type of boat it is?

Yes. Worldwide Boat offers sailing yachts, catamarans, and motor yachts. How does my destination affect charter yacht cost?

The more remote an area is, the more expensive it will be to charter a yacht there. That’s because prices go up in areas that have fewer boats. If you were to travel somewhere like the Galapagos, which isn’t a typical yacht destination, you’d pay more than you would if you were traveling to the Caribbean.

How much do I tip the crew when reviewing my yacht charter expenses?

It’s not required that you tip your crew, but it is recommended and appreciated. If you had an enjoyable experience it’s considered polite to tip your crew anywhere from 15-20% at the end of your charter.

Conversely, smaller 'all inclusive' type vacations cost between Euro 15,000 to 50,000 per week. Timing & Weather: The Mediterranean Yachting Season

The Mediterranean yachting season generally runs from April to the end of October. During the height of the season, in July and August, the climate is warm and sunny and the winds tend to be light. While this is the high season for all tourism, you can still easily avoid onshore tourists while afloat. The weather can also be good during the shoulder seasons.

Tip: Shoulder Season Means Value & Choice

Another good time to charter your yacht is generally on either of the shoulder seasons from April-May and September-October. These periods fall each side of the main summer season when the temperatures are still comfortable. Got three days? Let's go on a yacht charter in the Bahamas! Every yacht charter we arrange even for just three days is planned uniquely for you. There is no fixed itinerary! You'll discuss with us and your captain beforehand an outline of what your ideal quick vacation away could include. Your yacht's captain will create a draft cruising plan just for you. You can go where you want to go and stay as long as you like in the Abacos. You'll be dependent only on the distance between islands, the weather, and where your yacht can safely go.

Start your private getaway at Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. Here you will meet your crew, board your yacht, and have lunch on deck before heading out to explore the surrounding area. Atlantis is a vacationer's dream come true. By day, enjoy the shops and cafes; by night, try your hand at the casino. Best of all, make time to relax on the beach and get acquainted with the many amenities offered at Atlantis.

Steam your way to Highbourn Cay! You will feel awake and refreshed after a midday swim or a leisurely stroll on the beautiful beach. Go to Allen's Cay in the afternoon to see iguanas lounging in their natural habitat; this is a rare refuge for the iguanas, so look but don’t touch! Yacht Charter Costs Explained

A comprehensive breakdown of your charter costs and fees.

When you begin planning a luxury yacht charter it is important to be aware of what is included in the cost of booking your dream charter yacht. although a yacht will have a base charter fee, this may or may not include additional expenses such as food and fuel and this is subject to the terms and conditions within the charter contract. there are various types of charter contracts and which one applies to you will depend on where you wish to cruise., high season.

High season refers to the most popular weeks of the year for yacht charter, whether it’s the winter period in the Caribbean or the height of summer in the Mediterranean , booking in high season requires early planning, determination and a big budget. In addition, planning a yacht charter to coincide with a major event will also be reflected in the price with marine spots for elite events often booking up early. Allow plenty of time when making enquiries to ensure a star studded, well prepared arrival.

Low season typically refers to any time outside of the high season periods. Groups of families and friends looking for a relaxing luxury vacation are advised to avoid high season weeks and opt for weeks outside of this time. The busiest periods are of course reflected in the charter costs and can be up to 15 to 30 percent more expensive than typical low season periods. Chartering a few weeks either side of these busy periods can be almost exactly the same, with the weather almost unchanged in some places, with far less crowds.

Some of the most successful superyachts in the industry can be reserved up to a year in advance and as most yacht brokers will warn away from last minute bookings, it is better to book early and have the pick of the bunch rather than miss out at the last moment. This article will go into detail of the costs to be expected when planning and booking a yacht charter. From the base charter fee of a yacht, what is covered within the fee and how it may vary in addition to details of contracts and how an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) can be used to manage any expenses.

Base Charter Fee

The base charter fee in essence refers to the hire cost of the yacht itself, with all equipment in working order in addition to the cost of food and wages for the crew during the entirety of the charter. This is essentially all the base charter fee covers with additional expenses often applicable on top. The base charter fee will vary from one yacht to another and this may be down to any number of reasons from size and on board amenities to the charter season. For instance, the base rate of a charter yacht may increase in "high season" and reduce during the "low season". "High season" and "low season" refers to the busiest and slowest periods for yacht charters though this may appear misleading, as these peak times refer to periods of weeks as opposed to full seasons. In addition, you may find that a yacht is also more expensive during special events such as the Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival and America's Cup. Unless you are keen to charter a yacht for a particular "high season" event, choose your dates carefully as although a "high season" rate will be more expensive than the "low season" the two can sometimes share much of the same weather conditions.

Aside from seasons and events, yachts of the same size may also differ in price and this may be down to a vast difference in on board amenities. A yacht which boasts an on board cinema or lavish water toys may have a higher base rate compared with a yacht of minimal amenities of the same size. If it is unclear as to why two yachts of the same size are vastly different in price, ask your yacht broker to explain what the differences are. Once you are clear on what the base price is and why, it is important to discover what costs will be applicable on top and this is dependent on the type of charter contract used.

The type of charter contract applicable to your charter will depend on where in the world you are cruising, as there are various terms within the industry which dictate how the payment structure is determined. For instance, a MYBA (Worldwide Yachting Association, formerly known as Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association) contract operates under Western Mediterranean Terms (WMT) and is arguably the most commonly used, particularly with large yachts embarking on a Mediterranean yacht charter. This contract is often referred to as a "plus all expenses" contract and requires that the charterer pay for fuel, food, beverages and dockage fees as an additional expense outside of the base charter fee. Typically, guests can accumulate an additional 25% to 50% of the base charter fee though this is dependent on what is consumed. These expenses can be tracked through the use of an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) which we will cover in the next section.

Alternatively, smaller yachts on a Caribbean yacht charter can expect a "mostly all-inclusive" contract known as Caribbean Terms Inclusive (CTI) sometimes referred to as Standard Caribbean Terms (SCT). The Standard Caribbean Terms greatly differ from Western Mediterranean Terms, as the Caribbean terms include three meals a day in addition to four hours cruising per day which is included in the base charter fee.

In addition to the commonly used MYBA terms and Standard Caribbean Terms, there are also less frequently used terms such as Standard Eastern Mediterranean Terms (SEMT) and Greek Terms (GI). Advance Provisioning Allowance (commonly referred to as APA)

Irrespective of the charter contract it is important for guests to be aware of the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA). The APA was designed to enable charterers to manage their expenses through a clear and trackable arrangement. An APA is a way to deposit the estimated expense amount of your charter to cover costs such as fuel, food and dockage fees. Typically, the APA accrues to approximately 25% to 30% of the base charter fee, though this does of course depend on the charter parties tastes and requirements and could be far less or far greater than this estimation. For instance, charter guests who intend to regularly dine on caviar and vintage wine can expect to pay more, whereas guests on board a sailing yacht charter can expect to save on fuel costs. Charterers can request an estimated APA amount from the yacht broker based on their on board expectations.

The APA is to be paid approximately one month prior to boarding the charter yacht and is paid directly to the Captain of the yacht. Once the APA has been paid to the captain it will then be retained as a bank account of sorts, from which the captain can make expenditures whilst keeping a record of what has been spent. At any point during the yacht charter guests can request a rundown of accounts from the captain as a way of keeping track of expenditures. The captain will request that any additional funds are paid during the charter should guests exceed the APA. It is therefore a good idea to keep an additional account with your yacht broker on shore, as should the APA become critically low at any time the yacht broker can release additional funds to the captain on the charterers command. Cash can be used if necessary though an on shore account may be deemed as hassle free to some.

It is important to remember that food and fuel for example, are charged at cost without mark up to the charterer and upon disembarking, transactions can be reviewed by the "head" charterer and Captain with any remaining funds to be paid back to the charterer.

Fuel and Dockage Fees

It is important to remember that whilst considering fuel costs, the fuel consumed when using jet-skis and tenders will also apply to the charterer. In addition, whilst docked at a marina the generators used in order to produce electricity will also use fuel. The distance travelled and speed of cruising also affects fuel costs and it is important to bear these factors in mind. Dockage fees may vary from very little to large sums and this is dependent again upon the location and whether you wish to dock during a special event such as the Monaco Grand Prix.

Although insurance costs are not directly connected to the charter costs as such, it is useful to bear in mind should you with to take out Charterers Liability Insurance or Cancellation and Curtailment cover. Value Added Tax (VAT)

European Union (EU) tax laws state VAT will apply should you disembark within their waters, for example Italian territorial waters. This may also apply to some Caribbean islands. Commercially registered vessels are usually VAT exempt though vessels which are not commercially registered will be liable for VAT for all charters within the EU.

No request is too large or detail too small on a yacht charter though it is wise to keep in mind the shipping costs should you request an expensive bottle of champagne to be transported to you whilst you are residing in a secluded bay of the Caribbean. It is important to understand the entire payment structure to ensure no unpleasant surprises arise and it is often prudent to keep an escrow account with your broker on shore in order to control charter costs without having to carry cash on board.

No hidden costs and a flat rate for the extra expenses associated with hiring a boat. We offer our guests the advantage to pay a flat rate prior to setting sail, and that’s it! After surfing the web and looking at different options for your sailing vacation, you might have noticed most yacht rental are structured similarly with renting a car. The charter rate covers the price for hiring the yacht itself (just like the car rental price covers the car itself). And all the other aspects/costs involved are on you to cover as you go. For a car that would be things like gas, toll rates. With similar structure, when you are budgeting for your sailing holidays, you will have add on top of the charter rate, the other expenses involved as they appear. The trouble with this approach is that for a yacht the total/ final price the extras add up to varies several factors. Which makes it difficult for the traveler to figure out the total price he will end up paying (an aspect that will naturally might make him worried or anxious). For example while the rate applied for skipper services is pretty much standard for all companies (200 - 260 euro/day), all the others extra can range according to many factors. How much fuel you are going to use depends on how long the engine will be running - more specifically on the distance to your favorite destination and weather condition. "But won't we be sailing most of the time-why are we discussing fuel?' you might be wondering. Please read below the paragraph marked with ** So we are taking a different approach. In order to avoid the hassle of having an expense account open , we have grouped everything in the : "All costs included" combo of 350 euro/day to include the expenses associated with chartering the sailing yacht (skipper, fuel, final cleaning, etc) that will guarantee worry free vacations. You won't have to keep an expense account open. You simply pay a one-time flat rate - divided in between the members in your group prior to setting sail, and that’s it! Much easier to plan and budget for! No hidden costs, no surprise at the end of the trip. ** How much will we be sailing /motoring? Well...it all depends on the wind conditions and the distance to the next destination. So let's take for example a sail from Mykonos to the port of Paroikia in Paros that is 28 nautical miles apart (a good average). In favorable weather conditions a sailboat is perfectly capable of reaching a destination powered only by sails. With a good wind speed (10-12 knots or more) a sailboat would be a moving with a regular speed around 7 miles/hour. Thus, assuming a proper breeze, you would be covering the 28 nautical miles distance in about 4 hours. But when winds are very mild or from an un-proper direction, the speed a sailboat can reach just on sail power can drop significantly - even as low as 2-3 miles/hour. As a result, if you try to save fuel and move just on sails, you would be covering the same distance in 9-10 hours (no time left for swimming or exploring the island you are heading to). This is when the engine is one's best friend! Is helping to go up to the regular speed of 7 knots so you reach the destination you wish, the day you wish in a reasonable time. This is an especially important aspect for many of our guests as soon as they realize a regular day on board is divided in several parts (the 3-5 hours travel time to the next destination, the 1-3 hours stop for a swim, the late afternoon/evening for exploring the islands you reach, on-shore activities, exploring the villages and dinner). With a 4 hours travel there's time to mix all these in a single day. click to close X sailboat charter rate : Prices in Euro (€) per DAY 1350 1150 950 10% discount for couples or party of 2 persons Depending on each situation, a one-way fee applies in order to cover the cost of the boat travelling from the base/regular embarkation point to the pick up point of your choice (fuel + rate for the day/s when it cannot be chartered as it will be traveling to the island you prefer to embark at). Thus the one way fee depends on the distance to the destination chosen and can vary from 800 euro to 1450 euro. This all depends on your interests but especially on how much time you have available in Greece - the more days you have on board the more islands you will be able to explore. Each day you will be visiting a new island ( and you will be surprise at how different each of them is ). Thus the more days you have on board, the more varied and flexible the itinerary will be and the more you will experience. In order to enjoy the full magic the Greek island can offer, we'd recommend at least 5-7 day on board. If your program only allows a shorter 3-4 day cruise - no worries. From the very first contact the emails were so extremely detailed and informative we knew right away we found the right crew - miles ahead of the others we contacted. Can’t wait to return next year and explore more islands with you. This vacation was a longtime bucket list item and over 1 year in the actual planning. We had a fantastic 2 weeks visiting numerous islands in the Cyclades with our 2 sons and their wives. We have our own sailboat at home but the harbor system and mooring is very different from how it is done in Canada. Adriana and Radu handle their boat with skill and confidence; we could just sit back, relax and try to learn how it is done! Their local knowledge is indispensible for knowing which harbors were best to visit based on the daily weather and wind, and where to find the little bays and inlets for swimming. As we arrived at each destination, Adriana would pull out books and maps from her collection and give us tips for the best things to see and do. There are always options, and Adriana listened to every word, then did her best to accommodate our wishes. The sailboat is well setup, excellently maintained, and was very comfortable for the 6 of us. We were able to use the extra cabin to store some of our stuff; this is a sailboat and you do need to heed Adriana's advice to pack lightly! Supplies were readily available at all the harbors so we periodically restocked for breakfast and lunch items. We found it easier and very affordable to eat dinner at the local tavernas, and Adriana and Radu always had suggestions for those as well. We spent one beautiful night at anchor in Kleftiko Bay (Milos) and grilled fish we had bought that morning from the local fishing boat on the same pier where we had moored. Certainly, could have done that a few more times :) Apart from our own food, boat friendly shoes and beach/swim towels, everything else is on the boat. Once we had picked out appropriate sizes of snorkel gear, it was set aside. The galley was well equipped and has a large fridge (kept our ice frozen for a whole week!). Radu and Adriana use the forward V-berth (as you can see on the diagram on their website) and were extremely conscientious about not interfering with our own activities (e.g. they would wait for us to be done or off the boat before making their own breakfast). We were very happy that they did accept to join us for dinner towards the end of the trip (it was my birthday :)) as we had quickly considered them to be friends. They were always thinking of how they could make our trip even more enjoyable than it already was! For example, we had opted to spend a bit of extra time on Tinos and not stop at Delos based on weather. But as we got close to Delos, the strong winds forecasted had not developed, so that option was reconsidered and we did stop and visit this amazing archeological site. Anchoring and preparing the dinghy takes a bit of time and extra work, but they never once minded going the extra (nautical) mile! One thing to keep in mind is that most of the islands are best toured with a rental car. We had not considered that in advance although someone else mentions it in another review here. Radu would accompany us to the rental office (always near the harbor) and ensure we were properly looked after. The rates were quite reasonable and the smallest vehicles are adequate. Our trip was in early May and the weather was perfect. We packed a lot into our two weeks; towards the end we forced ourselves to slow the pace a little so we could just sit back and relax a bit on the boat (which you can do while sailing between islands although not so much when the wind picks up). Definitely would do this again with Adriana and Captain Sparrow (Radu) on the good ship Albatross! This was our second trip with Blue Water Sailing charter put of Athens. A year and a half ago we took a one week trip with them. This time we chose do cruise with them two weeks. I wish we had done a three week cruise. The boat is comfortable. We each had our own stateroom. There are four on the vessel for customers. Two bathrooms, a very functional kitchen and a nice salon area. The crew is extremely knowledgeable about each island they took us too. Explaining all our options once we arrived. The price was extremely seasonal.
