Introducing The Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 126719 BLRO With Meteorite Dial In White Gold (Live Pics & Pricing)

Last's year's hit is back – but with a very special dial..

rolex yacht master meteorite

The GMT-Master is back again this year and with a slight upgrade – in white gold with a Meteorite dial. If you remember from last year, Rolex released the GMT in steel with a Jubilee bracelet to replace the white gold version that came out in 2014. But the white gold version was not entirely discontinued; they released a white gold version with blue dial last year too.

This year the white gold version with Oyster bracelet is back again but with a Meteorite dial. People love the GMT Pepsi (you still can’t get the GMT in steel – just ask any of your local ADs) and last year the Jubilee bracelet gave it a little extra oomph. This year's version is exactly the same as last year’s model, measuring 40mm in diameter with a blue and red Cerachrom bezel, and the COSC-certified automatic caliber 3285 movement, but in white gold with an Oyster bracelet.

rolex yacht master meteorite

While there is nothing technically “new” about this watch, it is still nice to see Rolex do what they do best – make minor tweaks to existing classics. And while Meteorite dials are nothing new to Rolex, it is the first time they have used Meteorite on a GMT. Meteorite is a piece of a meteor that has fallen to the Earth’s surface; it is mostly iron and nickel. I believe the first time Rolex used this unusual material on their watches was with the Daytona in white gold, but it is consistently seen on Datejusts and other models throughout. The GMT is an unusual choice for a Meteorite dial, but then again, travel is a luxury and so is a Rolex.

Review: Rolex GMT-Master II Meteorite

Baselworld 2019 was an interesting event for a number of reasons, and not all them good. The big headline was the retraction of the Swatch Group, which left a lot of empty space in the display halls, followed by the disappointment in Rolex ’s meagre turnout, with no big, exciting announcements made. Funny thing is that in amongst all the hubbub, Rolex quietly added a watch to its website that is unlike anything anyone ever expected—and that’s the watch we’ve got here today.

I first saw this particular GMT-Master II 126719BLRO on the Rolex website just as Baselworld 2019 kicked off. At first, I thought it was a mistake—there had been no announcement for this watch, and with a sense of disappointment floating around what had been announced, I wondered for a moment if it wasn’t supposed to have been uploaded at all. But it turns out, as this watch here proves, that the new, meteorite dial 126719BLRO was indeed the latest model to grace Rolex’s line-up.

If this all sounds like a load of overinflated hype, let me give you a little bit of context. Rolex is a brand for whom evolution is a just a bit too fast for its liking. When Rolex makes a change, it’s the work of an age; it takes a long time to do anything at Rolex, and Rolex never does anything unless it is worth taking a long time to do.

Take this GMT-Master II here. It is the work of fourteen years of slow, slow progress, from the introduction of the ceramic bezel to the brand for the very first time, through to the development of the single-piece, two-tone ceramic bezel in black and blue, and then red and blue, first in white gold, then in steel—and so when Rolex casually slaps a meteorite dial into the white gold version of its famous traveller’s watch and doesn’t tell anyone about it, it’s kind of a big deal.

This is one of only two Rolex sports watches to receive the meteorite treatment, the Daytona included, but that was given a different look that was a bit more glitzy and dressy with Roman numerals and red accents. This GMT-Master II is exactly as you’d find it in steel, only in white gold, and with the addition of the meteorite.

rolex yacht master meteorite

Meteorite, for those who have puzzled over the terminology, is an asteroid or meteoroid that has made it through the Earth’s atmosphere all the way to the surface. An asteroid is a large rocky body orbiting the sun, a meteoroid a smaller rock or particle. Sometimes a meteoroid can be vaporised when it hits the atmosphere—this is a meteor.

It stands to reason that the slice of space rock you see here behind the sapphire crystal of this GMT-Master II is the type that made it to the surface, namely the Gibeon meteorite that fell to Earth in Namibia in prehistoric times, scattering debris all across an area of around 10,000 square miles surrounding the town of Gibeon. The meteorite and all its fragments are now protected as a National Monument, and so the supply Rolex has is limited, used sparingly in only the most special pieces—such as this GMT-Master II 126719BLRO.

First discovered in the 1830s by Captain J. E. Alexander, the Gibeon meteorite is formulated of an iron-nickel alloy peppered with cobalt and phosphorus. What makes this other-wordly material so appealing are the crystalline patterns, known as Thomson structures, that run through the meteorite. Long cooling times caused the alloys to stretch into millimetre-sized bands called lamellae that form an octahedrite structure which, when acid etched, reveals the shape and texture you see here.

Whilst there’s a lot to be said of the fantastic dials that watchmakers like Grand Seiko have introduced to the world over the decades, there’s something incredibly profound about a beauty that has emerged straight from nature, has travelled lightyears to get here, has taken millions of years to form and is impossible to recreate here on Earth.

rolex yacht master meteorite

By comparison, humanity as we know it is just a spec in the eye of an aging universe so vast and so old that we can never truly appreciate or understand its magnificence and its magnitude. It is both truly wonderful and truly terrifying, and this little slice of it inside this GMT-Master II is a beautiful and haunting reminder of that.

That’s why it was such a surprise to see it so quietly added to the Rolex website without fuss or fanfare. The rarity of meteorite—and this Gibeon meteorite in particular—makes this GMT-Master II particularly special and quite literally unique, seeing as the formation found on the dial here will never be repeated ever again.

Why Rolex chose this particular watch to feature some of its dwindling supply of Gibeon meteorite, I don’t know, as a blue dial version from 2018 already delineates the white gold BLRO from the steel. That’s not a criticism, more of an observation; given how long it has taken to get to the point where we even have a red and blue ceramic GMT-Master II in the first place, the surprise inclusion of a meteorite dial is very un-Rolex.

Perhaps it’s the likes of Grand Seiko and its ever-increasing range of superb dials that’s caused Rolex to take a bit more of a risk with its own? Maybe this is the start of something new and exciting from Rolex, where we see more ornate and interesting materials used in its precious metal sports watches? Whether that’s true or not, we’ve yet to find out, however one thing remains true: the GMT-Master II 126719BLRO meteorite may have been completely unexpected, but as surprises go, it was a very pleasant one.

rolex yacht master meteorite

If you’re looking for a luxurious, rare, beautiful watch from Rolex, you’re going to be hard pushed to find something better than the 126719BLRO. All the utilitarian style of the GMT-Master II with a subtle splash of luxurious white gold, topped off with the magnificence of the Gibeon meteorite, and we’ve got ourselves a winner. Fingers crossed it’s the start of something truly special—it certainly made Baselworld 2019 more interesting.

Review of the Rolex GMT-Master II Meteorite REF 126719 BLRO

rolex GMT-Master II Meteorite

Baselworld 2019 saw the release of the first Rolex GMT-Master II Meteorite. Rolex meteorite dials are nothing new. They’ve been featured on the Daytona, Day-Date, Datejust, Pearlmaster, and now the GMT-Master II.

Meteorite dials are rare, eye-catching and obviously make great conversation starters. All Rolex collectors need at least one!

Rolex and Meteorite Dials

Rolex was the first watch manufacturer to use meteorite in its production. We expect nothing less from one of the most innovative and pioneering watch makers in the world.

The Daytona and the Day-Date models first featured a meteorite dial. It came as no surprise, seeing as these two models have always been collectable pieces.

Other watchmakers followed suit, particularity Omega. Omega used meteorite material for its Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon watch, which launched in 2014. It’s no coincidence that Apollo 11 astronauts wore Speedmasters on the first moon landing in 1969.

Where Does Rolex Get Meteorite

Rolex only sources its meteorite material from a piece of the Gibeon meteorite, which was found in Namibia, Africa in 1836. More than 1,000 tons have been found, and new pieces are still found today.

Since Rolex procured its meteorite slice, it has since been protected by Namibia law. No further harvesting is permitted.

As a matter of fact, any meteorites found in Namibia are automatically protected as National Monuments and must not be removed from where they have been found, nor damaged in any way

What is Meteorite Made of?

The Gibeon meteorite is likely the debris of a molten planetary core. It’s thought to be billions of years old. Meteorites may also be from comets, asteroids, or meteoroids. Basically anything from outer space that can make it past Earth’s orbit.

Meteorites are made of iron and nickel, which make for sturdy watch dials. The really cool pattern (known as the Widmanstätten  pattern) is. formed as the molten meteorite’s temperature cools through space travel.

Slicing the rock reveals the pattern.

The Meteorite Dial

meteorite dial

Each slice of the Gibeon meteorite is fitted onto the dial surface. It’s then treated with an acid-wash finish to bring out its natural crystalline pattern.

No two meteorite dials are exactly the same. Because of the completely organic and unique nature of a meteorite formation, it’s impossible to replicate in a lab.

So why did Rolex put a meteorite dial on the GMT-Master II? We’ll get to that in just a bit.

A Quick History of the Rolex GMT-Master II

Everything about this watch was originally intended for international travel. The “GMT” in its name stands for “Greenwich  Mean Time”, which has become the standard in aviation use. Originally, the GMT-Master was used by pilots to keep track of time zones as they traveled internationally.

It’s been through many a transformation over the decades. White gold, steel, jubilee bracelet, oyster bracelet, and countless different dial and bezel combinations. Many of which, collectors have given special nicknames.

Oh, the nicknames. There are the infamous “ Batman ” and “ Pespsi ” versions, and the collectable “ Rootbeer ” and “ Fat Lady ” GMT II’s to name a few.

What’s New With the GMT-Master II Rolex Meteorite REF 126719 BLRO

There aren’t a lot of differences, compared to the 2018 GMT-Master II release. None of the below has changed.

  • 40 mm diameter
  •  blue and red Cerachrom bezel
  • caliber 3285 movement

The main new feature is of course, the meteorite dial. Other updates include the white gold case and the Oyster bracelet.

A meteorite paired with the Pepsi dial surprised a lot of Rolex fans. Some feel the combo is too busy, while others absolutely love the whimsical pair.

Final Thoughts

When you put two premium materials together with a Pepsi dial– like meteorite and white gold– you get a supremely flashy watch. This watch definitely isn’t for everyone.

If you’re in the market for a more subdued, wallet friendly watch, it’s definitely not the one. But if you still don’t have a meteorite dial in the collection, this is a watch to consider.

The dial doesn’t lend itself to be the most readable, when compared to other GMT II dials. Not that we wear watches to actually tell time these days, but it’s something to think about.

All in all, we think this very limited model was manufactured with a specific audience in mind. It’s a uniquely rare, luxury model meant to be shown off and doted over.

Up Close: Rolex GMT-Master II Meteorite Ref. 126719BLRO-0002

rolex yacht master meteorite

In the Rolex sports watch hall of fame, the GMT-Master II is arguably the most practical. It is a relatively affordable, dual time zone watch; and there are, after all, more people who travel than those who dive or race or sail.

At the same time, the GMT-Master has always been available in precious metal, in 18k Everose  for instance, and also lavishly bejewelled like the popular sapphire and ruby “SARU”.

The new meteorite dial GMT-Master II, on the other hand, is bling meets functionality without the gemstones, making it an unusual and compelling watch. And it’s also the first time Rolex has used meteorite in a watch other than the Daytona or Day-Date.

In fact, the meteorite GMT-Master probably the most practical ultra-luxe travel watch out there. And it costs only about US$1600 over the standard white gold GMT-Master with a blue dial, making it a worthwhile upgrade.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-6

Maybe “Pan Am”

Rolex has not revealed what inspired the meteorite GMT-Master, but the GMT-Master “Pan Am” or “Albino” is obvious.

Reputedly made in small numbers for executives at Pan American Airways – the company credited for the creation of the GMT-Master – the GMT-Masters fitted with white dials are either the refs. 6542 or 1675.

A handful are known and have sold for well into six figures, but the white dial examples are controversial and often accompanied by unending questions as to whether they are legit.

A jewel of a watch

In contrast, the modern day equivalent of the “Pan Am” is unquestionably a beautifully made, hefty, and shiny object.

On the wrist it gleams; the white gold case has a slightly lighter, greyish tone than steel, and the meteorite dial sparkles when it catches the light just right. And because the dial is silver and the case is white metal, it catches the eye without being ostentatious.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-2

Notably, the gold case and bracelet appear to be 18k white gold in its natural state, without the rhodium plating that is often used to give it a bright, silvery finish.

Consequently the case and bracelet are grey with a very, very slight tinge of yellow; personally I prefer white gold cases without plating as they are easier to polish or refinish.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-5

The tangible function of the watch is identical to other Rolex sports watches – solid, precise and dependable. But the weight of the case, combined with its shine, give it an appealingly expensive feel.

But it doesn’t just look like good, it stands up to scrutiny up close. The remarkable quality of production is evident even in the smallest details of the case, like the notches on the bezel for instance.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-12

Though the watch is heavy, wearability is excellent, particularly since “micro” adjustment of the bracelet is possible with the EasyLink extension integrated into the clasp.

The only impractical aspect of the watch, and this common to several Rolex sports model, is the mirror polished finish on the centre links and clasp, making them prone to scratches and scuffs, especially on the raised middle of the buckle.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-1

Red, blue and silver

Although the meteorite GMT-Master lacks the stark, contrasting colours of most Rolex sports watches – the greyish-silver meteorite dial is essentially the same tone as the case and bracelet – the watch is striking on the wrist. In photos the lack of contrast seems obvious, but in the metal the way the meteorite dial catches the light gives it an expensive sheen.

That being said, the lack of contrast on the dial – the hands and hour markers sometimes blend into the meteorite – means that its readability is not as good as that on other Rolex sports watches, but it is an acceptable concession.

Up close the meteorite dial looks like most other meteorite dials. The streaky surface known as Widmanstätten patterns, which result from the nickel-iron crystals within the meteorite.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-8

Specifically, the dial is made of iron meteorite, which is space rock composed mostly of iron-nickel in a crystalline structure. The other, more common, type of meteorite is stony, which is mostly rock.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-9

The grain of the meteorite is obvious under the “cyclops” magnifier for the date

Though iron meteorites are rare compared to stony meteorites, they are common and widely collected enough that the material is easily accessible, so meteorite is widely used for watch dials.

To produce a dial, the material is sliced, etched with acid to bring out the Widmanstätten patterns, and then polished. After that comes the operations to actually turn it into a dial, like drilling holes for the hour indices and printing the markings.

On the topic of printing, because the surface of the meteorite is not perfectly smooth as it is on conventional lacquer dials, the markings on the dial are slightly – visible only upon magnification – fuzzy around the edges. It’s an inevitable consequence of the dial material, and only stands out because of how perfectly the rest of the watch is manufactured.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-4

“Superlative Chronometer”

As is expected for a Rolex watch, the tech inside is impeccable. The movement boasts 10 patents that improve various metrics of functionality, including a longer, 70-hour power reserve.

It’s powered by the cal. 3285, the same movement found in current GMT-Master models. The cal. 3285 is a latest generation movement that boasts all of the company’s recent innovations; the small coronet in between “Swiss” and “made” at six o’clock distinguishes it from watches with earlier generation movements.

As mass produced mechanical watches go, the latest generation Rolex movements are amongst the best in terms of performance. Rolex promises the watch will run within two seconds a day.

rolex gmt master meteorite 126719BLRO-10

Concluding thoughts

The meteorite GMT-Master looks a lot fancier than the standard model – it is discreet bling – but retains all the functionality. The only downside slightly diminished legibility with the lack of dial contrast, but it compensates by being a gorgeous timepiece.

As high-end travel watches go, this is reasonably affordable and not too much more than the standard GMT-Master II in gold.

Diameter: 40mm Material: 18 white gold Water resistance: 100m

Movement: cal. 3285 Frequency: 28,800bph, or 4Hz Power reserve: 70 hours

Strap: 18k white gold Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock clasp and Easylink extension

Price and availability

The GMT-Master II with a meteorite dial (ref. 126719BLRO-0002) is priced at US$38,400. And in other currencies, it is €35,150 or 51,620 Singapore dollars.

The watch is already available at Rolex retailers, but naturally expect a long wait for one.

Staying on course

The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 in 18 ct white gold with a black dial and an Oysterflex bracelet.

The oysterflex bracelet, highly resistant and durable.

The Yacht-Master’s new Oysterflex bracelet, developed by Rolex and patented, offers a sporty alternative to metal bracelets. The bracelet attaches to the watch case and the Oysterlock safety clasp by a flexible titanium and nickel alloy metal blade.

The blade is overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer which is particularly resistant to environmental effects, very durable and perfectly inert for the wearer of the watch. For enhanced comfort, the inside of the Oysterflex bracelet is equipped with a patented longitudinal cushion system that stabilizes the watch on the wrist and fitted with an 18 ct white gold Oysterlock safety clasp. It also features the Rolex Glidelock extension system, designed by the brand and patented. This inventive toothed mechanism, integrated beneath the clasp, allows fine adjustment of the bracelet length by some 15 mm in increments of approximately 2.5 mm, without the use of tools.

18 ct white gold

Commitment to excellence

By operating its own exclusive foundry, Rolex has the unrivalled ability to cast the highest quality 18 ct gold alloys. According to the proportion of silver, copper, platinum or palladium added, different types of 18 ct gold are obtained: yellow, pink or white.

They are made with only the purest metals and meticulously inspected in an in-house laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, before the gold is formed and shaped with the same painstaking attention to quality. Rolex's commitment to excellence begins at the source.

Bidirectional Rotatable Bezel

Timing the distance.

The Yacht-Master’s bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel is made entirely from precious metals or fitted with a Cerachrom insert in high-tech ceramic. The raised polished numerals and graduations stand out clearly against a matt, sand-blasted background.

This functional bezel – which allows the wearer to calculate, for example, the sailing time between two buoys – is also a key component in the model’s distinctive visual identity.

Exceptional legibility

Like all Rolex Professional watches, the Yacht-Master 42 offers exceptional legibility in all circumstances, and especially in the dark, thanks to its Chromalight display.

The broad hands and hour markers in simple shapes – triangles, circles, rectangles – are filled with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting glow.

RECOMMENDED READING: Rare rocks? The truth about Rolex meteorite dials

It isn’t every day you look out the window and see a meteor shower. In fact, it’s a newsworthy event when anyone is lucky enough to catch one on film. So I don’t think you would be going out on a limb to say that they are fairly uncommon events, causing you to assume that meteorite is a pretty rare mineral to come by, and it must be very expensive. How then are so many watch companies producing timepieces with meteorite dials? One of the most talked about watches from Baselworld 2019 was a white gold Rolex GMT-Master II with a meteorite dial, the distinctive geometric patterns on the thin slice of rock making for an attractive watch. But the question that came to some people is where do Rolex meteorite dials come from?

The folk at Gear Patrol were also perplexed by this set of circumstances, so they did a little digging to find out more and published what they found here. As it turns out, there are a few challenges in working with this exotic material.

Designed to display two different time zones simultaneously, the Rolex GMT-Master II is the ideal watch for jet setters and global entrepreneurs. Launched in 1955, the GMT-Master was initially developed as a navigational tool for busy globe-trotting professionals. It’s become a statement of elegance and sophistication and is a highly coveted Rolex model among collectors.

The Rolex GMT-Master II White Gold model features a bidirectional rotating bezel that comes in a two-tone red and blue finish; it helps the wearer measure elapsed time and time remaining. The bezel is made from Cerachrom, a ceramic-metal blend material exclusive to Rolex. This gives the bezel outstanding anti-corrosion properties and ensures the colors won’t fade over time. The fluted bezel edges retain the characteristic Rolex design aesthetic while providing exceptional grip for accurate time measurements.

The meteorite dial sets the GMT-Master II 126719 BLRO apart from other models in the lineup. The dial is crafted from a solid slice of the Gibeon meteorite, which crashed in Namibia and was discovered in 1838. The piece of the meteorite is polished and finished to amplify the space rock’s unusual texture. Each dial pattern is unique depending on the angle of the cut to the rock face. Beneath the dial, the case houses a 3285 caliber movement designed to allow travelers to easily adjust the watch to the local time without disrupting the mechanism. The certified Swiss chronograph features a Parachrom hairspring for optimal impact resistance and boasts a 70-hour power reserve. Each of our Rolex watches comes with a 5-year warranty and a Certificate of Authenticity, so you can rest assured you are receiving a genuine Rolex timepiece.

Owner review: rolex gmt-master ii pepsi meteorite 126719blro.

Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Meteorite 126719BLRO

Having owned the Pepsi BLRO in stainless steel , my next natural progression was to also own a Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Meteorite 126719BLRO.

The meteorite dial is an extremely special piece to me, as no two dials are identical. As most Rolex sport models have the same 40mm cases and only 2 versions of different bracelets, this particular model really stood out. It was a way of being different from the rest. Since each piece is unique, that also means getting a dial you like, would depend hugely on your luck as well!

Fortunately for me, mine turned out beautifully – the metallic pattern and colour were exactly to my liking. The dial has many different facets to it, depending much on the reflection angle and lighting. It definitely has a very mysterious feel about it, and being able to own a piece of rock from outer space and to be able to wear it on your wrist is indeed very special.

Like all Rolex sport models in precious metal – the white gold case and oyster bracelet are very susceptible to being scratched and dented. So extreme care has to be taken while wearing this piece. While this is still within my tolerance level, it might not be very comfortable lugging around this hefty piece on your wrist on a daily basis, especially if you are used to wearing stainless steel pieces.

As for the movement, it comes with the 3285 calibre with 70 hours power reserve – within my acceptable range.

As a watch lover, I love the feel and fit of  the Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Meteorite on my wrist. If you ever get a chance to own one, I do not see any other reasons from holding you back, besides being able to get your hands on one! Definitely a conversation piece and a very versatile watch, which isn’t too flashy for any occasion. A very rare and special piece!

Meteorite dial

An alloy from outer space.

The only GMT-Master II with a meteorite dial is this one. Meteorite is a material that is propelled across the Solar System by the explosion of an asteroid or possibly a planet, until it falls into our planet’s orbit by accident and is drawn to Earth by gravity. Because molten asteroid cores cool extremely slowly, the meteorite’s center gradually changes during travel, creating extremely unique metallic patterns. From these combinations, Rolex’s designers craft a one-of-a-kind gem for some of the most esteemed models—like this GMT-Master II.

24-Hour Rotatable Bezel

Innovative high-technology.

This model has a red and blue ceramic two-color Cerachrom bezel insert with a black dial. The GMT-Master II has two unique features: a bidirectionally rotatable 24-hour graded bezel and an arrow-tipped hand that rounds the dial once every 24 hours in addition to the standard hour, minute, and seconds hands.

The bezel’s graduations read the “home” reference time in the first time zone, which is displayed by the eye-catchingly colored 24-hour hand. Thanks to a clever mechanism that is controlled by the winding crown, the traveler may effortlessly fix their local time by simply “jumping” from hour to hour. The hour hand can be moved forward or backward without affecting the minute and seconds hands. Travelers can do this to easily adjust to their new time zone without

The Oyster bracelet

Alchemy of form and function.

The Oyster bracelet, which combines functionality and style, design and technology, is a marvel that is both comfortable and durable. It has two features that are exclusive to Rolex: the Easylink comfort extension link and the Oysterlock folding clasp, which guard against unintentional opening.

With the help of this clever mechanism, the wearer can extend the bracelet by around 5 mm, which adds comfort in any situation.

Baselworld 2019: Rolex “Pepsi” GMT-Master II with Meteorite Dial

rolex yacht master meteorite

Last year at Baselworld, the star of the show was easily the stainless steel Rolex Pepsi GMT-Master II watch . With waitlists still several years in length at authorized retailers, and pre-owned examples trading for well-above their original purchase prices on the secondary market, it is undeniable that the Rolex “Pepsi” look is extremely desirable right now. This year for Baselworld 2019, there is a new white gold version of the Rolex GMT-Master II “Pepsi” – however this time it features a striking meteorite dial.

meteorite dial

The Rolex “Pepsi” GMT-Master II ref. 126719 BLRO with Meteorite Dial

Although the reference 126719BLRO is technically a new watch, a white gold GMT-Master II with a red and blue “Pepsi” bezel already existed in the Rolex catalog. Additionally, it should also be noted that the use of meteorite dials is not a new novelty for Rolex, and examples can be found on various watches throughout their past, particularly within the Daytona, Day-Date, and Datejust collections. However, this new ultra-premium dial variation marks the first time that a meteorite dial has been fitted to a Rolex GMT.

We have discussed Rolex’s meteorite dials before; however, in case anyone is wondering, yes, they do actually feature slices of meteorite on their surfaces. The meteorite itself primarily consists of iron and nickel, and the unique pattern on its surface is the result of how the metals cooled when the meteorite fell to earth all those years ago. As its appearance is the product of a natural occurrence, the pattern will vary from one meteorite dial to the next, and no two watches will look exactly the same.

With the latest updates to the GMT-Master collection, Rolex will no longer be manufacturing stainless steel GMT-Master II watches with Oyster bracelets. This means that if you want a white-metal Rolex GMT and also want an Oyster bracelet, you will have to get one in solid white gold – like the reference 126719 BLRO “Pepsi” GMT-Master II with meteorite dial,  which is set to have an official price of $38,400.
