For the past two years, international yacht shows have not gone ahead as we know it, with virtual viewings and forced closures. However, in 2022, some of the most prestigious events on the international yachting calendar are back. From the world-class Monaco Yacht Show to the coveted Fort Lauderdale Boat Show , discover which of the world’s most spectacular yacht shows in 2022 are set to become a hub of spectacular boat viewings, international networking, and extravagant parties.

In order of the events taking place throughout the year, here are Silver Star Yachting’s must-visit yacht shows to add to your yachting calendar in 2022:

Palm Beach International Boat Show 2022

The Palm Beach International Boat Show  returns on the 24th to the 27th of March, bringing its unique mix of old-world glamour and an exquisite line-up of contemporary yachts to America’s East Coast. Attracting thousands of visitors every year, the Palm Beach International Boat Show plays host to more than $1.2 billion worth of boats and marine accessories, with a huge number of top boating brands and shipyards exhibiting their latest products and services. For those that are interested in private yacht charters, plenty of the superyachts on display will be available for attendees to tour their luxurious interiors. 

Those looking to mix with fellow show attendees can take advantage of the Windward VIP experience, which takes place in an exclusive lounge complete with a well-equipped bar. With so many new features and breathtaking superyachts, The Palm Beach International Boat Show 2022 is an event that is not to be missed.

The Superyacht Show Barcelona 2022

With a beautiful backdrop of idyllic Spanish architecture, The Superyacht Show Barcelona  is back in May 2022 with the dates to be announced. Organised by the Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA), serious clients and their brokers are invited to attend the show to browse the finest selection of yachts on display ahead of the Mediterranean yacht charter season. Some of the largest and most impressive motor yachts on the international charter fleet are promised to attend the show and are all available for private tours. Although the superyachts are bound to steal the show, industry professionals will line the boardwalks offering valuable information to all their clients. 

The show’s premium address at Port Vell, located just a stone’s throw from the yacht charter hotspots of Ibiza and the Balearic islands, adds an extra level of glamour to the event.

Cannes Yachting Festival 2022

Following on from a successful 2021 boat show, the Cannes Yachting Festival will return in 2022 to the two sites of Vieux Port and Port Canto in Cannes. From the 6th to the 11th of September, an annual fleet of around 700 motor yachts, sailing boats, multihulls and tenders will be on display for visitors all week. Guests will get to experience direct onboard sessions and a rare opportunity to engage in demonstrations throughout the event. As the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 is one of the leading European fixtures of the yachting calendar, dozens of shipyards debut stunning new models set to hit the market that year. Avid watersporters and racers will also get the chance to try demonstrations on the water as well as the Concours D’Elegance with vintage boats on display.

Monaco Yacht Show 2022

Globally acclaimed for showcasing some of the most impressive superyachts on the market, t he Monaco Yacht Show maintains its position as one of the most premium yacht shows as a fleet of incredible motor and sailing yachts descend to Monaco ’s port on the 28th of September for four days. Hosted in Port Hercule, famous for being part of the Monaco Grand Prix track, some of the biggest names in the yachting industry including Azimut, Sunseeker, Gulf Craft and many more will give visitors the chance to tour and charter the displays. 

In addition to the glistening plethora of captivating yachts, the VIP Sapphire Experience offers the boat show visitors an exclusive lounge, bar, fine dining and opportunities to connect with other yachting enthusiasts, the Sapphire Experience is perfect for truly making the most out of the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 . 

Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2022 

The ‘yachting capital of the world’ opens its doors once again from the 26th to the 1st of October for the prestigious Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022 . Scheduled to showcase more than $4 billion worth of yachts and merchandise, FLIBS 2022 is an ideal opportunity to view potential yacht charters and buy some of the latest marine products. The sprawling boat show is spread over seven locations around Fort Lauderdale, with a smooth transport system escorting visitors to each site. Attracting over 100,000 visitors and featuring more than 6 miles of floating docks, Fort Lauderdale is the largest on-water boat show and it most definitely delivers to that standard. Embrace the live music, cocktail parties and spectacular demonstrations upon your visit.

Miami Yacht Show 2022

After its cancellation due to global health concerns, the Miami Yacht Show is back, bigger and better than ever before, for 2022. The Miami Yacht Show and concurrent Miami International Boat Show will be joining forces to provide an unparalleled offering to the yachting industry. Held between the 16th and 20th February 2022 in Miami's glittering Biscayne Bay, the 2022 edition of the Miami Yacht Show will see its the constant evolution of the event reach new heights.

Informa Markets, co-owner and operator of Miami Yacht Show and Superyacht Miami, has announced that 2022 will see the first ever joint Miami Yacht Show, Superyacht Miami and Miami International Boat Show event. In partnership with NMMA, the yachting festivities will take placce over President's Day weekend to create one of the largest boat shows in the world and the ultimate sales and marketing destination for industry members.

The upcoming show will also include an expansion of existing in-water components at the Genting location, as well as the on-land component at the newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center, and the addition of an adjacent outdoor venue at Miami Beach's Pride Park. Miami Dealer Days will also be re-introduced to the event format.

Leveraging the status of all three shows, Informa Markets aims to bring tohether their shared talent and resources to provide an unparalleled experience with exponential growth potential.

For superyacht enthusiasts, Superyacht Miami is hosted in the modern and high-end Island Gardens Deep Harbour, showcasing the Miami Yacht Show's largest vessels in one dedicated section.

11 new yachts to see at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) will take place later this month (October 26-30) and some of the biggest names in the industry will be using the occasion to introduce their latest projects to the American market. If you are in town for the world's largest yacht showcase, don’t miss these exciting new launches that will be making their US debuts this year...

Project Aura

Length: 50 metres   Builder: Heesen

Project Aura, formerly known as YN19650, will be making her global debut at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. She marks the latest addition to Heesen 's line of steel displacement superyachts and features an eye-catching automotive-inspired design from the drawing boards of Clifford Denn . Meanwhile, Reymond Langton has created a pared-back Scandi-chic interior that revolves around clean lines and an ocean-influenced colour palette.

Ocean Alexander 28E

Length:  27.74 metres Builder: Ocean Alexander

Following a debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in Australia earlier this year, the Ocean Alexander 28E will make her first American appearance at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Part of the brand’s Explorer line, Ocean Alexander has once again teamed up with Evan K Marshall for the yacht’s exterior and interior design. This five-stateroom yacht offers plenty of volume with features including a penthouse-inspired skylounge, a spacious saloon with lounging and dining area, and an oversized swim platform.

Length: 29.5 metres Builder: CL Yachts

After a successful premier event in Hong Kong earlier this year, CL Yachts ’ new flagship has been transported to the US to make her debut in Fort Lauderdale. Milan-based Jozeph Forakis was responsible for the yacht’s interior and exterior design, which has been specifically tailored for the American market. Standout features on board include a “sky deck” with al fresco dining aft and an expansive beach club with a hydraulic, submerging swim platform.

Tri-Deck FD110

Length: 33.38 metres Builder: Horizon Launched this summer, the Tri-Deck FD110 is the largest build to date in Horizon’s Cor D. Rover -designed Fast Displacement series. Making her world debut in Florida, the five-cabin yacht incorporates the series' characteristic full-height windows and elongated deck areas.

Tri-Deck FD100

Length: 30.94 metres Builder: Horizon

Also making her debut in Fort Lauderdale, alongside Horizon’s FD110 , is the builder’s slightly more compact FD100 model. The yacht features a contemporary interior styled by Miami-based Design Studio JAC that utilises high-quality natural materials such as linens, natural stone, and European oak wall panelling. Similar to the FD110, full-height windows allow light to flood the yacht’s interior spaces and she also boasts a full beam master cabin.

Length: 33.53 metres Builder: Sanlorenzo

Following a successful debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the SP110 is gearing up to make its American debut. The hydrojet-powered sports yacht is the first in Sanlorenzo’s SP (Smart Performance) series and marks the brand’s entry into the sports yacht market. Marco Arnaboldi was responsible for the hull design, with Bernardo Zuccon designing its slender exterior and Piero Lissoni creating the interiors.

Length: 27.10 metres Builder: Sunseeker

British builder Sunseeker will be using the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show to introduce its 90 Ocean model to the American market. The yacht’s substantial beam and stem bow have created a 20% increase in overall volume and 25-30% more deck space. One of the yacht’s standout areas is its beach club, which incorporates X-Tend sunbeds that won the Innovation of the Year catergory at the BOAT International Design and Innovation Awards 2022.

Length: 26.38 metres Builder: Sunseeker

Having made its debut appearance at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival, Sunseeker’s 88 Yacht how now made it to US waters. Similarly to the 90 Ocean, one of the yacht’s standout features is her beach club, which also features the X-Tend sunbeds to offer unprecedented space and storage for a yacht of her size. The compact yacht’s flybridge can also be customised to accommodate an infinity spa pool for up to five guests with sun pads on either side.

Ferretti Yachts 860

Length: 26.95 metres Builder: Ferretti

Built for an Italian owner the first unit in the Ferretti Yachts 860 series will make its American debut in Fort Lauderdale. The flybridge superyacht was launched in June 2022, just eight months after the project was initially announced, and features interiors by Ideaeitalia studio, while Filippo Salvetti was responsible for her curved lines.

Galeon 800 Fly

Length: 25.35 metres Builder: Galeon

Combining a sporty silhouette with impressive performance, the Galeon 800 Fly features interior and exterior design by Tony Castro . Built in Poland the yacht can accommodate up to eight guests and her interior features an open-galley design with art deco detailing.

Length: 36.58 metres Builder: Sanlorenzo

The flagship of the Asymmetric range was announced back in 2020 and, true to its name, features an asymmetric layout that sacrifices the port walkway in favour of greater interior volume. After making its debut appearance at Cannes Yachting Festival, the model is heading stateside and will be available to view at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. 

80 Sunreef Power

Length: 23.96 metres   Builder: Sunreef

Sunreef Yachts will premiere its popular 80 Sunreef Power at this year's show. The entry-level catamaran is billed as a universal multihull designed for long cruises in ultimate comfort. Highlights include a full-beam bow terrace, a large tender garage and aft platform that drops down to water level, and a generous flybridge.

Jury finds ex-politician guilty of murder in 2022 killing of Las Vegas investigative reporter

LAS VEGAS -- A jury in Nevada has found a Democratic former Las Vegas-area politician guilty of murder in the killing of an investigative journalist who wrote articles critical of his conduct in elected office.

Robert Telles hung his head, shaking it slightly from side to side as the verdict was read Wednesday in Clark County District Court. Jurors deliberated for nearly 12 hours after hearing eight days of evidence in his trial, which began Aug 12.

Telles, 47, has been jailed without bail since his arrest several days after Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German was found stabbed to death in a side yard of his home over Labor Day weekend 2022.

Jurors now will hear evidence in the penalty phase of trial before deciding Telles' sentence.

Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty. Telles faces life in prison without parole, life with parole eligibility at 20 years, or 20 to 50 years in prison.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson, a Democrat, would not specify for the media the reason he didn't seek the death penalty but told The Associated Press separately that "in and of themselves" neither Telles' position as an elected official nor German's role as an investigative reporter were deciding factors. He declined to be more specific

He said outside the courtroom that he was surprised by the length of time the jury deliberated but is confident jurors carefully considered evidence.

"The jury hit the ball out of the park this time," he said. "They hit a home run by getting the right verdict."

Telles denied killing German. He alleged a broad conspiracy of people framed him for German's killing in retaliation for his effort to root out corruption he saw in his office.

"I am not the kind of person who would stab someone. I didn't kill Mr. German," he testified. "And that's my testimony."

Jessica Coleman, a coworker in the troubled county office who attended the trial, sobbed as she exited the courtroom after the verdict was read.

"Finally. Finally," she said. "Finally the system is working."

Defense lawyer Robert Draskovich showed the jury an image during closing arguments Monday of a person whose profile didn't look like Telles' driving a maroon SUV that evidence showed was key to the crime. He noted that none of German's blood or DNA was found on Telles, in his vehicle or at his home.

He asked jurors to ask themselves, "What evidence is missing?"

Prosecutor Christopher Hamner told jurors that finding Telles guilty would be like "connecting the dots" based on overwhelming evidence they heard - including DNA that matched Telles found beneath German's fingernails.

Hamner maintained that German fought to the death with his attacker and that Telles blamed German for destroying his career, ruining his reputation and threatening his marriage.

Telles lost his primary for a second elected term after German's stories appeared in the Las Vegas Review-Journal in May and June 2022. They described turmoil and bullying at the Clark County Public Administrator/Guardian office and a romantic relationship between Telles and an employee.

Hamner said Telles learned from county officials just hours before German was killed that the reporter was working on another story about that relationship.

Prosecutors presented a timeline and videos showing Telles' maroon SUV leaving the neighborhood near his home a little after 9 a.m. on Sept. 2, 2022, and driving on streets near German's home a short time later.

The SUV driver is seen wearing a bright orange outfit similar to one worn by a person captured on camera walking to German's home and slipping into a side yard where German was attacked just after 11:15 a.m.

A little more than 2 minutes later, the figure in orange emerged and walked down a sidewalk. German did not reappear.

Evidence showed Telles' wife sent him a text message about 10:30 a.m. asking, "Where are you?" Prosecutors said Telles left his cellphone at home so he couldn't be tracked. Telles told the jury he took a walk and then went to a gym in the afternoon.

German, 69, was a respected journalist who spent 44 years covering crime, courts and corruption in Las Vegas. About a dozen of his family members and friends have watched the trial. They've declined as a group to comment.

Telles is an attorney who practiced civil law before he was elected in 2018. His law license was suspended following his arrest.

Weckerly and Hamner presented 28 witnesses and hundreds of pages of photos, police reports and video. Telles and five other people testified for the defense. No Telles family members were called to the stand or identified in the trial gallery.

German was the only journalist killed in the U.S. in 2022, according to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists. The nonprofit has records of 17 media workers killed in the U.S. since 1992.

Superyachts arrive for the 2022 Palm Beach International Boat Show

West Palm Beach looks set to be a hive of activity once more as boating enthusiasts and industry professionals flock to the 40th edition of the Palm Beach International Boat Show .

Running between 24-27 March along South Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach, the 2022 Palm Beach International Boat Show will feature “more than $1.2 billion worth of yachts and accessories”, alongside a number of exhibitors and manufacturers.

As the last Americana show of the season, it is a mainstay in the calendar for the global yachting industry, and provides an excellent opportunity for show-attendees to network and socialise, especially important after such a long lay off for many yacht shows globally during the pandemic.

This year is already shaping up to be a show to remember, promising a wide spectrum of vessels, ranging from sportfishers and pleasure cruisers to sailing vessels and luxury motor yachts . 

The 2022 line-up

As ever, the line-up will include a selection of superyachts available for charter . Here are a few of our top picks attending this year's show;

The largest yacht confirmed to attend is the Silverfast expedition yacht BOLD . Built in 2019, the impressive 83m (280ft) Australian-built vessel is the fastest explorer yacht in the world, capable of speeds up to 23 knots, and has been meticulously designed for the intrepid explorer. 

She already wowed show-goers at the Monaco Yacht Show, and is sure to turn plenty of heads on this side of the Atlantic too, with her considerable size and rugged Espen Øino-designed profile, culminating in the large Heli landing deck on the aft deck.

The 63m/207ft Benetti yacht 11.11 is set to make her debut appearance at the show. Her iconic plumb bow and ice-white exterior is certain to draw admiring stares.

But it will surely be for her lavish Art-deco-inspired interiors that will stop lucky show-goers in their tracks. Featuring resplendent chandeliers, rich Italian marbles and artwork from the likes of Tracey Emin and Ben Sack, this yacht has aesthetic appeal in spades.

Also marking her debut at the show is the 68m (224ft) Abeking and Rasmussen  superyacht SOARING . Delivered in 2020, she has already proven a popular charter platform. Boasting chic interiors showcasing subtle Art Deco accents along with an impressive selection of amenities, she’ll be crowd-pleaser for sure. 

Stand out features include a sprawling sundeck replete with oversized Jacuzzi and swim up bar, as well as a large beach club featuring a tiled Hammam, beauty therapy room and well-equipped gym area. 

Other stand-out superyachts attending the 2022 Palm beach show are Rossinavi's 49m/160ft motor yacht EIV , launched in 2020 and featuring a plunge pool, beach club with a wellness center, as well as another star turn from Benetti, this time in the form of the elegant 52m/171ft motor yacht VIANNE , who recently made headlines after it was announced that the owner would be accepting payment for sale or charter in Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and major cryptocurrency.

Exciting events

As well as touring boats and perusing exhibitors’ stands, show-goers will additionally have the opportunity to attend informative seminars and see water toy demos.

Seasoned sportfishers and those still getting to grips with the sport will find a number of sportfishing seminars useful and eye-opening, with boat captains and industry experts sharing tips and techniques. For younger attendees, a kid’s fishing clinic will also be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Back by popular demand, the Aquazone will once again bring some excitement to the show, with demonstrations of water accessories including paddle boarding, SUP Yoga, kayaks and hovercrafts, to name just a few.

The VIP Experience

Show-goers looking to enhance their time at the Palm Beach Boat Show should opt for the Windward VIP Club, now part of the show’s premium experience. Located within the Lakeside Pavilion, It is the perfect haven for those that want to enjoy the finer things in life whilst at the show.

As well as providing a relaxing sanctuary within the show with a premium open bar and gourmet hors d'oeuvres, the indoor/outdoor lounging area also makes a fabulous setting for socialising and networking.

Daily events are on the agenda, including wine tasting, complimentary massages and margarita mixing, as well as a VIP brunch event and pop-up boutique.

Nearby, the Culinary Experience is headed up by experienced Executive Chef Vagn Nielsen, where you will find a vast range of culinary delights to whet your appetite; from wood-fired pizzas to hand-crafted burgers, perfect for those who prefer not to stray too far.

The 2022 Palm Beach Boat will run between 22 - 27 March, with opening times between 10am and 7pm (with a 12pm start on Thursday and 5pm finish on Sunday).
