Is a Crew Member About to Get Kicked off 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'?

Updated June 5 2020, 1:08 p.m. ET

After the absolute dumpster fire that was last season’s Below Deck, Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been relatively smooth sailing—even idyllic, for a Bravo show.

However, the new spinoff sailing series has just entered the midseason mark, which is when the drama usually tends to heat up with the cast swapping make-out buddies, losing their tempers with each other and generally being all-around messes.

In the teasers for the second half of the season, audiences were tantalized to see the possibility of a threesome brewing between Paget, Ciara and Georgia, and, of course, more ongoing drama between the most annoying couple on the boat, Adam and Jenna .

But what really caught a lot of people’s attention in the teasers was when Captain Shephard said to Jenna, “I would be very surprised if somebody few to Corfu with cocaine.”

Naturally, audiences are clamoring to figure out just who got caught with cocaine in their bag and whether that’s the end of their professional sailing career. Fans of the show will also remember the infamous drug incident from Below Deck’ s premiere episode, and the show’s no-nonsense policy when it comes to illegal substances on-board.

Keep reading while we dig into Below Deck 's cocaine scandals.

Which crew member on 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' got caught with with a stash of cocaine?

In the teaser scenes for Below Deck Sailing ’s March 30 episode, fans saw Captain Glenn confiding in Jenna, saying that he would be surprised if someone flew to Corfu with cocaine.

But in the next scene we see Captain Glenn rummaging through someone’s bag asking, “Is there anything in here that you don’t want me to find? What’s in here?” The captain ominously also adds that, “there might be a change of personnel.”

Although we don’t know exactly who the alleged drugs belong to, we do know that having illegal substances onboard is an extremely serious offense. If it turns out that Captain Glenn does find cocaine among any of the crew’s belongings, it’s safe to assume that they will be immediately fired and replaced on the boat.

What happened the last time someone found cocaine on the show?

Fans may recall the epic drug bust in the very first episode of Below Deck ’s Season 1 when stewardess Kat Held found a bag of white powder and a rolled-up dollar bill in a guest’s cabin. After Captain Lee was informed, he immediately turned his boat around to head to the dock, without even informing the charter guests until they were asked to leave the boat mid-charter .

Not only did the incident cement the no-nonsense tone of Captain’s Lee’s managing style with his crew and guests alike, it was also extremely entertaining television to watch a spoiled, rich charter guest like Johnny Eyelash (yes, that was his name) not realize what exactly was happening until he was unceremoniously kicked off the boat mid-charter.

"It was a tough situation to be in. On the one hand, we want clients to be happy. On the other hand, I don't want my boat to get boarded by the Coast Guard, and I don't want to go to jail for 25 years," Captain Lee said in his book, Running Against the Tide . "I made the decision to kick them off the boat.”

We can’t wait to see the rest of this season’s drama unfold on the Parsifal III. Tune in to Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.

Below Deck Med’s Malia Has Regrets About Reporting Hannah for Having Valium on Board: ‘Could Have Handled It a Lot Better’ (Exclusive)

Looking back! While Malia White stands by her decision to report Hannah Ferrier for not declaring her Valium, there is something she regrets from the drama that followed.

“I don’t regret doing my job, but I do regret how I handled it,” Malia, 31, exclusively told Us Weekly about the decision that led to Hannah’s exit in season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean .

During an August 2020 episode of the Bravo series, Malia reported to Captain Sandy that the chief stew, 34, had the anti-anxiety medication and a CBD vape pen in her room. Hannah was terminated as a result — and the decision was met with plenty of backlash.

At the time, Hannah responded to the accusation that she didn’t have a prescription for the Valium.

“I like Malia’s arranging skills,” she tweeted, referencing the photo that her castmate took to send to the captain , 56. “So that’s prescribed Valium, CBD (which is legal in Spain), a lighter (not sure what this has to do with anything) and my passport holder… And for anyone who’s interested the prescription is on the other side of the box as shown… #belowdeckmed.”

The bosun, for her part, responded that the issue came from Hannah not disclosing that she had the drugs with her on the boat.

“I never said you CANT have medications – you just have to follow proper procedures that are in place to protect ALL crew members,” Malia explained on Instagram. “The Captain of the vessel has the right to know who might be taking what & when!”

Looking back on it now, Malia thinks she could have “handled it a lot better,” telling Us , “I do have regrets with how everything went down last season, but I don’t have a regret having to do my job.”

The reality star elaborated on why she shouldn’t have gotten involved as the bosun, adding, “I would have maybe tried to stay out of it a little bit more [because] as a bosun you don’t want to get involved with crew things. But … you’re in that spot where you are directly under the captain.”

Hannah’s firing isn’t the only misunderstanding the Bravolebrity wants to redo. Following a night of drinking during season 6, Malia found herself at odds with roommate Lexi Wilson as the stew fought with multiple people from the crew. Malia admitted that she didn’t regret getting emotional during the July episode.

“It’s like frustrating tears. Like, here’s this girl that I think came in with so many preconceived notions of who I was [and] that is frustrating,” she explained. “Like, dude, I hope you get the feeling that I have right now after the show comes out.”

After Lexi ended the night by pushing Mzi “Zee” Dempers , she explained the next morning that she didn’t remember what happened. Malia previously told Us that she didn’t think that Lexi’s apology was sincere.

“I think she was kind of like, ‘Yeah, whatever. I don’t remember. I’m sorry. Like, everyone get over it,’” the Below Deck Med star recalled. “We were like, ‘How do you not remember? You were saying some, like, pretty intense stuff, you know?’ So, I don’t think it was as sincere as we wanted it to be, but I think for her, that’s the best we were going to get.”

Lexi, for her part, said that her personal life caused her to lash out a bit more during the crew night out.

“I had a s–t ton of stuff going on in my head, like, a lot of stuff, but I didn’t tell anyone, which is my fault. And I guess I wasn’t dealing with it properly, which is also my fault,” she told The Daily Dish last month. “In that short space, you know, 15-hour working days, a lot going on, and just, like, alcohol doesn’t make it better. I had a lot going on with my dad. I’m still reeling with emotions there. Any little thing triggered me, like out of control, actually.”

‘Below Deck’ guests facing sea of legal trouble in prescription drug plot, authorities say

A doctor who appeared on a hit Bravo reality show was arrested on Long Island — accused of stealing the identities of cast members of the show in a scheme to obtain prescription drugs, according to law enforcement officials.

Dr. Francis Martinis — a urologist in Fort Salonga — and his wife, Jessica Martinis, who both appeared on the Bravo reality-show franchise “Below Deck,” are accused of allegedly using the personal information of other cast members to write bogus prescriptions for oxycodone.

Investigators said the scheme started to unfold earlier this year, when Jessica Martinis went to a pharmacy in Kings Park in an attempt to fill a bogus oxycodone prescription in January. According to those officials, the handwritten prescription raised concerns, prompting a pharmacist to call police.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the doctor had sent dozens of prescriptions for oxycodone to Suffolk County pharmacies over a two-year period, law enforcement officials said. Many of these prescriptions were allegedly fake — written under the names of two “Below Deck” cast members.

Investigators said that Jessica Martinis would pick up the prescriptions and pay in cash as part of the alleged plot.

The duo was arrested in May and charged with eight counts of criminal sale of controlled substance and falsifying business records, law enforcement officials said.

Investigators are not revealing whether they believe the couple was using or reselling the drugs, or both.

Former New York Homeland Security Director Michael Balboni said the allegations are serious, especially amid an ongoing national addiction and overdose crisis.

“He abused the celebrity position that he had on that ship to take the identities of his crew members — if that is proven — and then use that to buy drugs,” Balboni said. “That is a common scheme for a common criminal.”

The pair were among the guests who chartered Sirocco, a luxury yacht that set sail on the French Riviera in 2019 and had part of their trip documented for “Below Deck Mediterranean.” The doctor was a guest once again the following year, this time on another “Below Deck” spinoff, “Below Deck Sailing Yacht.” The series documented life on a 180-foot sailboat that cruised the Ionian Sea.

Following their appearances in the franchise, the doctor-and-wife duo attended promotional events with other crew members.

Peter A. Crusco, the attorney representing the couple, said his clients pleaded not guilty.  "The evidence will show the charges are bogus and cannot be substantiated," he said.

Bravo, which is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News, did not respond to a request for comment.

Below Deck Guests Arrested for Drug Scheme, Accused of Using Cast Members’ Names on Fake Prescriptions, Details Revealed

Authorities Claim Two Below Deck Med Charter Guests Were Arrested for Scheme Involving Bogus Opioid Prescriptions, Falsely Used Names of Two Other Castmembers

Authorities claim two Below Deck Mediterranean   guests were arrested for plotting an opioid scheme – involving bogus prescriptions from a doctor who also appeared on  Below Deck Sailing Yacht .

The urologist and his wife falsely used two other Below Deck cast members’ names while writing the prescriptions, said investigators.

According to officials in law enforcement, via nbcnewyork.com , Fort Salonga urologist  Dr. Francis Martinis  got arrested in Long Island. He was accused of stealing the cast members’ identities in a plot to get prescription drugs.

Officials accused Francis and his wife Jessica of writing fake prescriptions to obtain oxycodone, using the other cast members’ personal info.

Per the investigators, their plot began when the doctor’s wife tried to fill the fake prescription for oxycodone at a Kings Park pharmacy in January 2023 – and the pharmacist called the police after getting concerned about the handwritten prescription.

This prompted an investigation that showed that the urologist was sending oxycodone illegally to pharmacies in Suffolk County for two years, said officials. Many of the prescriptions allegedly were falsified, and the names of two Below Deck stars were used to write them up.

Officials claimed Jessica paid for the prescriptions in cash as she picked up the drugs.

“Doctors are supposed to be trusted members of the community and with that trust comes a tremendous amount of personal and professional responsibility,” said Raymond Tierney , the Suffolk County District Attorney. “Physicians are held to a high standard, as they take an oath to uphold a number of professional ethical standards when they begin their careers. The conduct Dr. Martinis allegedly engaged in with his wife not only violated this oath, but it also violated the law.”

Officials told the outlet that the couple, arrested in May, was charged with eight counts of falsifying business records and the criminal sale of a controlled substance.

“He abused the celebrity position that he had on that ship to take the identities of his crew members — if that is proven — and then use that to buy drugs,” said Michael Balboni , former New York Homeland Security Director, “that is a common scheme for a common criminal.”

The couple first appeared on Below Deck Mediterranean in 2019 on the French Riviera. A year later, the urologist also filmed as a guest for Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

But according to the couple’s lawyer Peter Crusco , they pleaded not guilty, and “evidence will show the charges are bogus and cannot be substantiated.”

“The DEA is rooted in an ‘all hands on deck’ approach to save lives from illegal drug misuse and abuse through enforcement, education, and prevention,” stated Frank Tarentino , the DEA Special Agent in Charge. “We identified two individuals who brazenly diverted controlled substances intended for medicinal purposes to the illegal drug market. These arrests are a reminder that a doctor’s illicit drug diversion can lead to irreparable harm like the drug overdoses and poisonings currently plaguing our nation.”

The couple was scheduled to go to court on Thursday.

“Prosecutors will want to send a message to all other physicians — you have special access to these drugs, you know how they work and if you do this you will be prosecuted,” said Balboni.

Billy on Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Fans share theories on why Captain Glenn’s drug search of guest’s cabin was a bust

Billy on below deck Sailing Yacht was accused of having drugs on yacht.

Billy on Below Deck Sailing Yacht was accused of having illegal drugs onboard the Parsifal III, but Captain Glenn Shephard’s search came up with nothing.

Fans immediately flooded social media with theories on the hot topic after the season finale of the Bravo show.

Billy agreed to the cabin search but was arrogant and rude while  Captain Glenn was riffing through his things . Later, Billy let the captain know how angry he was that a search had been conducted in the first place. He even said that it had ruined his luxury vacation.

Why did Captain Glenn not find any drugs?

There are a couple of fan theories floating around Twitter regarding why there were no drugs in Billy’s cabin.

One is that he honestly never had any illegal substance on Parsifal III. Billy did admit he was extremely drunk on the night Jenna and Chris began to question whether he was on drugs.

Another theory is that Billy had used all of his drugs the day before, and that’s why the search turned up nothing.

Twitter agrees that the result was lackluster after all the buildup. A majority of viewers thought that Billy did have drugs, but the resolution of the situation was boring at best, especially for a season finale.

so, last episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht review: not a huge fan of the lack of resolution with the guy who 10000000000% was doing cocaine on the boat however the season was fantastic. I learned to like (pretty much) the entire crew in different ways. 10/10 recommend. ??‍♂️ — Ethan Jeremiah (@ethanjeremiahh) May 26, 2020

Did Jenna lie about seeing Billy on drugs?

There is no question Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers have had it out for Jenna all season. Her romance with chef Adam Glick enraged fans, and the chief stew has even been bullied online.

One Twitter user accused Jenna of lying about what she saw to take Captain Glenn’s focus off of her and Adam. It is quite the claim, but a few users think it’s true.

After all, the good captain literally had it out with Jenna over her romance hours earlier and she was beyond disrespectful to Captain Glenn.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht I’m convinced the reason Jenna lied about seeing white powder on the guest was to take Glen’s attention off of her and Adam. Chris saw it. She lied to make sure Glen took it seriously & lost sight of her shortcomings. — dmd (@Dmd0718Donna) May 26, 2020

Fans will probably never know for sure if Billy on Below Deck Sailing Yacht brought drugs onto Parsifal III- just because Captain Glenn Shephard didn’t find drugs doesn’t mean they weren’t there at some point.

The finale and drug search will certainly be a topic at the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion . Perhaps fans will get more insight after the cast shares their side of the story.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion will air on Monday, June 1 at 8/7c on Bravo.

Below Deck Med's Hannah Ferrier on Being Fired over Valium: 'It's Not Something I Was Hiding'

"I think I've just been really disappointed because I feel I'm being painted as some sort of drug addict," the Bravo star said

Hannah Ferrier is speaking out after her shocking exit from Below Deck Mediterranean unfolded on Monday night's episode.

After bosun Malia White reported the franchise's longtime chief stewardess for having unregistered Valium and a vape pen in her possession on the vessel, Captain Sandy Yawn dismissed Ferrier from The Wellington crew.

In an interview with Decider , Ferrier, 33, said she was disappointed by the way it all played out.

"You can see on my face when she opens that bathroom door," she said. "My pants are undone. I'm going to the bathroom. I'm like, why would I flush my medication? It wouldn't have crossed my mind to flush Valium, because I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. It's anti-anxiety medication. It's like, it's five milligrams of Valium! It was just disappointing."

Maritime law stipulates that crew members must check medications in with the captain, and Ferrier acknowledges she "made the mistake of not clearing it" with Yawn.

"It's not something I was hiding," she said. "It wasn't like I went on and I was like, 'Ooh, I have this Valium. I can't let anyone see it.' To me, it's just anti-anxiety medication. I made the mistake of not clearing it when I brought it on the boat. Because I've always had it, every year. It just wasn't really a process that went through my mind. That was my mistake. But yeah, it certainly wasn't something I was trying to hide."

Ferrier said the vape pen was CBD, and that she also uses it for anxiety relief.

"When I travel, I check whether CBD is legal in the country that I'm going into," she said. "So yeah, I had checked that CBD was legal in Spain, and it is. Once again, I genuinely didn't think that there was anything. I didn't know I was doing something wrong."

Looking back, Ferrier said she would have done things differently if given the chance.

"Obviously, I would have declared the medication when I went on board," she said. "If I knew it was going to turn out like this, I probably just wouldn't have done the season."

And Ferrier, who announced earlier this summer that the current season of Below Deck Mediterranean will be her last , admitted that she's "in a different place" in her life now. (She's currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Josh.)

"To me, this season, I was very different to the seasons beforehand," she said. "My life is very different now. I think I'm very different when I'm single, and when I'm in a relationship. I wasn't going out and drinking a lot. You see the whole season, there's not one scene of me getting drunk. Because I wasn't getting drunk!"

"And that's not because of anything that Josh says, it's just for me," she added. "As you can understand as someone with anxiety, I don't want to wake up the next morning and go, 'I was drunk last night. What's going to come out on TV? Am I going to look like an idiot?' I'm in a different place in my life now. I think I was a lot more introverted. But I just wanted to do my job, make my money, and go home."

Ferrier also called out White, 30, for using the word "narcotics" when discussing the situation on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month.

"It's not narcotics. It's anti-anxiety medication," she said.

"I think I've just been really disappointed because I feel I'm being painted as some sort of drug addict or what have you," she continued. "Which is just so sad, because there are so many people in the world that suffer from mental illness. And it's 2020. We shouldn't be making people feel like a lesser for taking medication for mental illness. Or making them feel like they can't do a job, or they can't do what normal people can do."

On WWHL , White claimed that she saw Ferrier take Valium in an attempt to get her anxiety under control after she had a panic attack over Chef Kiko's departure.

"I think in that moment when she asked for Valium is when it really hit me that those were the pills that she was taking every night all season," she said. "That's when it became a real serious thing for me."

White also denied to host Andy Cohen that she reported Ferrier as revenge for her rooming situation.

"I already had my bunk at that point, so, yeah, it was because it was my duty to," she said. "I don't want to lose my licensing."

Ferrier defended herself during the episode by tweeting a photo of the drugs in question.

"I like Malia's arranging skills," she wrote. "So that's prescribed Valium, CBD (which is legal in Spain), a lighter (not sure what this has to do with anything) and my passport holder… And for anyone who's interested the prescription is on the other side of the box as shown…"

"She went into my cabin AFTER we had the fight about cabin arrangements..." Ferrier added . "Then went through my handbag and took a photo of my prescribed medication and legal CBD and sent it to Sandy."

Below Deck charter guests accused of stealing cast members' identities as part of opioid scheme

Urologist Francis Martinis and wife Jessica are in troubled legal waters.

Jessica is a staff writer at Entertainment Weekly, where she covers TV, movies, and pop culture. Her work has appeared in Bustle, NYLON, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, and more. She lives in California with her dog.

A couple who appeared as charter guests on episodes of the hit Bravo reality franchise Below Deck are setting sail for court after being indicted on allegations of falsely using the names of cast members in a scheme to obtain prescription drugs.

Dr. Francis Martinis, a urologist in Fort Salonga, N.Y., and his wife, Jessica Martinis, were charged with criminal sale of a prescription for a controlled substance and falsifying business records in Suffolk County on Thursday, the district attorney's office announced .

Prosecutors allege that Francis, 55, electronically transmitted numerous prescriptions for oxycodone to pharmacies under the names of former Below Deck cast members, and that Jessica, 38, would pick up the prescriptions and pay with cash. But the prescriptions were never intended for the purported patients — none of whom resided on Long Island — identified on the orders, prosecutors say.

Fred Jagueneau/Bravo

The DA's office said the scheme came to light in January after Jessica tried to fill a hand-written prescription for oxycodone issued by her husband, when prescriptions are often issued electronically. When the pharmacist noticed she was not the patient listed, they contacted the Suffolk County Police Department.

The Martinises pleaded not guilty and are currently on supervised release. They're scheduled to be back in court Jan. 25.

"Doctors are supposed to be trusted members of the community," Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement. "Physicians are held to a high standard, as they take an oath to uphold a number of professional ethical standards when they begin their careers. The conduct Dr. Martinis allegedly engaged in with his wife not only violated this oath, but it also violated the law."

Peter Crusco, an attorney for the couple, called the charges "bogus" when reached for comment by EW, adding that his clients "look forward to their day in court to clear their names."

Bravo declined to comment.

The Below Deck shows follow the interior and deck crews of luxury ships and the affluent passengers they cater to during a charter season. The Martinises appeared on the spinoff Below Deck Mediterranean , and Francis also returned on Below Deck Sailing Yacht .

Inside Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s Crash, and the Dramatic Aftermath

below deck sailing yacht drugs on board

Below Deck viewers have survived kitchen fires, nightmare charter guests , dramatic dismissals, drug scandals , and soured romantic relationships. But Monday’s episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, “Total Ship Show,” is unprecedented in franchise history, in terms of its sheer disaster quotient. Within the first five minutes of the episode, the Parsifal yacht crashes into a stone dock in high winds, destroying the end of the vessel and totaling Captain Glenn Shephard ’s already-dented ego. (Last week, Parsifal suffered a less serious collision. We hope the sailing yacht is not cursed.) The rest of the episode unravels like a high-paced thriller set aboard an out-of-control luxury yacht.

The villains: the shrill, gluten-free charter guests, who are too self-involved to notice the Parsifal ’s jacked transom door. The dramatic B-plot: the chef screwing up a five-course meal by serving steak after dessert. As if this were not enough action for a single episode, there is also an STD scare that forces an otherwise respectable woman to reckon with an indiscretion.

“It was almost like an embarrassment of riches,” said Below Deck executive producer Courtland Cox, of the chart-topping chaos in Croatia. “It’s amazing that this was all happening, but it’s also difficult to tell all of these stories in an interesting way within a limited amount of time per episode.” Some viewers complained that the season was starting off too smoothly, but Cox trusted the process and knew that such interesting cast members would yield climactic story lines. “With any great narrative structure, you want to have peaks and valleys that eventually crescendo into something interesting…. The yacht crashing, guests being crazy, and Jean-Luc [Cerza Lanaux] being worried about getting an STD, all that stuff is the seasoning.”

Ahead, Cox and Parsifal chief stew Daisy Kelliher take us behind the scenes of Monday’s bombshell episode to answer all of our burning questions—about everything from the crash to the onboard romances, including Dani’s pregnancy announcement.

Executive producer Cox was tucked away in a tiny control room on the Parsifal during both accidents, where he was able to watch what was happening from three different camera vantage points, and hear what was happening from the walkie-talkie dialogue on deck. Cox said that he knew that the Parsifal was going to hit the dock about five seconds before it happened—when first mate Gary King began calling out the shrinking measurements between the yacht and the dock, but the boat, because of the intense wind and swell, kept hurtling toward the dock at full speed. Because of a mechanical error that short-circuited the thrusters, Captain Glenn was not able to propel the vessel in the reverse direction.

As the ship sped toward the dock, the Below Deck producer juggled a contradictory range of concerns: the fear of a captive passenger aboard an out-of-control vessel; worry for his fellow shipmates; heartbreak for Captain Glenn, who was about to bite it in front of multiple cameras; and, conversely, the shark-like instincts of a reality-TV producer keen to capture the chaotic melee in all of its gruesome glory.

“The human part of me, my heart aches for Glenn,” Cox told Vanity Fair. Still, he continued, “My job is to capture what’s actually happening—so we told our camera operators, ‘Stay on Glenn.’ We don’t push right up in his face or get in his way, but the story in the moment was that Glenn hit the dock. How was he going to rectify the situation?”

In addition to seeing the crash, viewers also witness Captain Glenn’s spirit breaking close up—as the sweet Parsifal pilot realizes, in devastatingly real time, that he has not only incurred thousands of dollars in yacht damages, but has done so with a camera trained on him.

“I probably watched this episode 15 times in various incarnations, and every time I see Glenn’s face in the immediate aftermath of hitting that dock, I still get very emotional,” said Cox. “It’s a catastrophic moment for any yacht captain when you do damage to a boat. It’s the worst possible thing. And I also know that that’s compounded by a factor of a million because there are TV cameras on you.”

Cox has produced 16 seasons’ worth of Below Deck, and called the crash “the second-most intense moment ever on the series.” (The first-most intense was a near-death accident in 2018 during which deckhand Ashton Pienaar was pulled overboard after his ankle was caught in ropes.) “As a producer, it’s amazingly compelling. But as a person onboard, it’s terrifying…. But Glenn is a consummate professional. He didn’t try to deflect or make excuses or try to tap dance his way out of it. He went quickly into crisis mode, damage mode.”

Parsifal chief stew Daisy Kelliher said that watching the crash in the episode was worse than living it, “because I was downstairs when it happened. I have never seen a boat that crashed the dock or been in a boat that crashed the dock.”

The Life of Chuck: The Feel-Good Stephen King Apocalypse Movie

Speaking about Glenn, Kelliher said, “He was pretty upset at the time, but you quickly calm down. It was an accident, and the main thing is nobody got hurt. It’s like banging your car. You get the insurance sorted. You learn from it. And you move on.”

Image may contain Human Person and Photographer

How quickly did the episode’s events happen in real life?

The unfolded over the course of about 72 hours, according to Cox. “The boat hits the dock, it looks terrible, and Glenn’s like, ‘Well, the guests are getting here in four hours.’… The crew did a great job at kind of compartmentalizing, and putting the dock behind us as these charter guests come on. And the story becomes about J.L.’ s anxiety about the STD, and [chef] Natasha’s anxiety about these guests having crazy demands that are emotionally taxing on the heels of a traumatic event…. It’s exhausting for them.”

What did producers make of another unprecedented plot twist: J.L.’s on-camera concerns about a potential sexually transmitted disease?

This twist surprised even Cox. “I’m a fossil who grew up in the ’70s and ’80s,” said Cox. “What was going through my head was, ‘There’s a very easy way he could have prevented this—by using some kind of protection. If you roll the dice, you kinda gotta accept what happens to you. I’m not a heartless monster TV producer. I don’t want anyone to ever suffer or go through something they have an existential crisis over. In that moment, you’re hoping that it’s at least one of the lesser STDs that is easily treated.”

When did producers discover that Dani was pregnant? (The cast member revealed her pregnancy on Instagram last month.)

“Dani brought it to our attention when we were pretty far into the postproduction process,” said Cox. “Even once Dani found out, I think she kind of wanted to sit with [the news] herself. Then she let us know and said, ‘Hey, just so you know, I’m pregnant.’ We said, ‘Okay, great.’ I left that up to her and how much information she wanted to give us. My first reaction was, ‘That’s fantastic. Congratulations.’ Because she made it clear throughout the season that she wanted a family. The rest of that is for Dani to figure out.”

“I really don’t ask Dani much about it,” added Kelliher in a separate phone call. “I’m very aware that that she probably feels like she’s explaining herself to a lot of people. So I try and respect her privacy. We’ve spoken a little about it, but I figure the less I know the better.”

Do Daisy and Natasha eventually get to a place of mutual understanding and respect?

“I didn’t mind her,” said Kelliher. “On the show it looks like we hated each other. We were very civil with each other, and would laugh and sit with each other. It wasn’t constant arguing—that only came when it was time to serve meals…. At that stage, I had kind of given up, because I had tried everything. She didn’t want my help. She didn’t want to communicate with me…. I’m asking you if you’re serving five courses, you’re telling me no. I could stand here and keep arguing, but I wasn’t going to win in this.… We have a good relationship now. I have respect for her. But that [tension] never changes.”

What is Daisy’s read on the love triangle tensions between Gary, Sydney, and Alli?

“I wish I had been there for some of the conversations [between the three of them], because I don’t think they would have escalated as much,” said Kelliher. “I do think Sydney was pretty intense. I knew she was upset and understood why she was upset. If you’re a girl, it’s embarrassing if somebody chooses someone over you…. But some of the things she said were quite mean to Ali, and I didn’t really like that. If I had been there, that wouldn’t have happened because I wouldn’t have allowed it.”

“I’ve definitely seen love triangles. I’ve been involved in love triangles. This was intense because it escalated so quickly. I didn’t really get it. I guess maybe we’re all intense people—maybe that’s why you do a TV show about yachting. But I did find the whole thing a bit weird from all sides. I was like, ‘We’ve known each other [for] like three weeks…and don’t even know each others’ last names.’ Settle down.”

Welcome to plathville: micah's girlfriend veronica peters shouldn't have showed her face (the show destroys relationships), welcome to plathville: signs micah's girlfriend veronica peters' a clout chaser (is she using him for fame).

Amid producer plant accusations, Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King revealed whether the storylines on the show are all fake. A long-time crew member of the franchise, Gary King joined Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 as First Officer. Although he has worked well with others during his long duration on the show, Gary's conduct has been questioned over the past year-and-a-half. Perceived as a womanizer for how he treated his female crewmates, Gary found himself in trouble on and off Below Deck .

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King revealed the authenticity of the show's storylines.

In a post on Gary ’s Instagram Stories, he allowed viewers to ask him questions regarding Below Deck . One question asked if the producers influenced the drama at all. Gary jokingly replied, “Yeah they asked us to crash the boat…jokes, they have nothing to do with the drama that goes on. It’s an unscripted show.”

Although some of the storylines were far-fetched, Gary confirmed that the drama was real . This somewhat debunked speculation that producers had been interfering in the drama on Below Deck , and he confirmed that they just let it all play out.

Gary King Reveals If Charter Guests Are Told To “Act Crazy”

Gary will bring in viewers for sailing yacht season 5.

Gary opened his Instagram up for more questions, and some fans wanted to know about the guests that chartered the yacht. One fan wanted to know if producers told the guests to act crazy or if they were just crazy. In his reply, Gary stated, “Nope they’re all just crazy.” After the sexual misconduct claims levied against Gary after Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, he continued to be very vocal about Below Deck and his time on the show. However, he denied the sexual misconduct allegations against him, which could hinder viewership for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 .

Even though many fans made it clear they would not tune in for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, it seemed as though some fans didn’t get the memo. Gary has maintained high interaction with fans of the franchise through his Instagram , with many interested in what’s coming next in the series. Although Gary’s allegations and lack of accountability was a huge turn-off, it’s clear that the scandal attracted new attention and interest, which is making Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 highly anticipated before its premiere.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

As many fans of reality TV shows know, even unscripted drama can be manipulated by producers. Although Gary has cleared up the rumors of producer interference allegations by stating that the drama and storylines are all real, it will be interesting to see how they handle the allegations lodged against him during this upcoming season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht . It will be interesting to see if producers manipulate or avoid certain topics. Either way, Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 is going to be an interesting watch off of Gary’s appearance alone.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is a spin-off of the Below Deck reality television series. Premiering on Bravo, the show follows the life of a Yacht crew as they attempt to navigate a busy Charter season in which many customers make use of a 177-foot sailing yacht. Over the first three seasons, the yacht has been to Greece, Croatia, and Spain.

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht': Crew suspects guests of snorting coke, Glenn says they are in 'deep sh**'

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' has saved the best for last. The curtains are closing on the Bravo-backed reality show and it's highly unlikely that it'll make an exit without some high-voltage drama.

The last batch of charter guests from the season is from Manhattan and ever since they got on board, their behavior has raised suspicion among the crew members, especially Chris Miller and Jenna MacGillivray.

As the team got busy serving the guests, Chris pulled Jenna to a corner, whispering that he had spotted something strange around Billy's (one of the guests) nose, to which Jenna responded: "They're all f***ing high." This was a major point of concern for everyone on board and addressing them, Jenna said in her green-room interview that they would all be in trouble if someone on the yacht had drugs on them.

"If guests bring drugs on board, it can put us all at risk of being charged. So, if I suspect something and Chris suspects something, and we didn't say anything about it, the onus is on us," the chief stewardess added.

Not just Jenna, Captain Glenn Shephard too appeared to be worried in the preview clip about guests doing drugs. "I would be very surprised if somebody flew to Corfu with cocaine," he said and later, during the confessional, said he would have to take action if there were illegal substances on the yacht. "He's in deep sh** if there are drugs on board and in his cabin," Glenn added.

This isn't the only concern that the team is reeling with. In Episode 16, Chris sees a doctor about his injured back. When he joined the team, he had informed about his medical history but little did he know that it would come back to haunt him, possibly ending his charter season prematurely.

Even if he leaves, Chris made quite the impression on viewers as well as fellow yachties because he was willing to put in beyond 100% and was prepared to work beyond his schedule to ensure the deck functions smoothly.

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’: Did This Dude Bring Drugs on The Boat?

The sails might not be the only thing getting high next week on Below Deck Sailing Yacht . In the preview for the next episode of the Bravo series, we see Captain Glenn get even madder than he was when some oil spilled on the boat, after learning there could be an illegal substance on board.

During the last charter of the season, one of the guests is seen asking her friend, “Are you okay?” and explaining, “His eyes are rolling back in his head.”

We then hear Captain Glenn say, “I would be very surprised if somebody flew to Corfu with cocaine,” and stating, “If there are illegal substances on board, I have to do something.” He goes on to say, “He’s in deep shit if there’s drugs on board in his cabin,” and we hear a loud sniff from behind a guest room door. Uh oh, looks like this bro’s paddleboarding fun is about to come crashing down.

We’ll have to wait until next week to find out exactly what happens, but fans of the franchise will remember this isn’t the first — or the last — time that drugs on the boat were an issue. In Season 1 of Below Deck , stewardess Kat Held found a bag of white power and a rolled-up dollar bill in a guest’s cabin, causing Captain Lee to turn that boat right around and kick their butts off of it mid-charter. And in the latest trailer for Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5, premiering on Bravo Monday, June 1, Captain Sandy is seen having a stern conversation where she says “It’s been brought to my attention that you have drugs on board.” Yikes! Come on people, you’re on a beautiful yacht — you should just be high on life!

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Monday at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo.

5 years after deadly Conception fire NTSB pushing Coast Guard to improve boat safety

KABC logo

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Monday marks five years since 34 people were trapped below deck and killed in the Conception dive boat fire off the coast of Santa Cruz Island.

The National Transportation Safety Board is calling on the U.S. Coast Guard to finally carry out recommendations the NTSB has issued over the last two decades. That includes requiring owners of U.S.-flagged passenger vessels to implement a passenger safety management system.

"How many times does the NTSB have to issue this recommendation again before Coast Guard will take action?" said NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy during a press conference Monday. "How many deaths have to occur?"

Family members of some of the victims spoke during Monday's press conference, holding back tears.

"If a [ safety management system ] had been required, the crew would have been aware of inherent risks," said Kathy Mcilvain, whose son, Charles, died in the fire. "They would have been properly trained and prepared to respond to all emergencies, including fire, and we may not be standing here today."

In May, the captain of the dive boat was sentenced to four years in prison for seaman's manslaughter.

Prosecutors say he failed to have a night patrol or conduct fire drills, as required by law.
