N.J. man struck by boat’s propellers after collision on bay

A man was hospitalized after being struck by a boat’s propellers following a collision on Manahawkin Bay on Saturday afternoon.

The 59-year-old Neshanic Station resident was operating a personal watercraft on the bay in Long Beach Township when he hit the side of a 28-foot boat, according to a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

The man was thrown into the water by the impact, police said, and “sucked underwater by the other vessel’s propulsion.”

Then, the boat’s propellers struck him, the spokesman said.

Police responded to the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m.

The man was transported to a hospital for treatment, where he remained in stable condition on Monday, police said.
