Feb 2021 was last visit there. Golden Eagle was awesome. Like the cruise ship, # of people on board were way down which made it even better. Fun trip to snorkel site, then to a beach for some chill time. Fun trip back to port taking in lots of coastline. A lively trip!  Will be there in Feb 2023 and we’ve already booked it again.

atlast95

We were on the Princess Excursion yesterday and the captain of the Golden Eagle III wasn't paying attention as we were sailing back to the cruise port and we were almost in a head on collision with an oncoming barge going full speed. Passengers started acreaming and the Captain  swerved at the last minute. We were hit hard on the side. Several passengers went down hard and one lady went into convulsions. Had to make an emergency stop so EMS could come on board.

Oh my goodness! That sounds awful. I hope everyone is ok.

We are scheduled for this via Celebrity in two weeks. I'll update if the excursion is canceled because of damage to the boat (or lack of a captain!).

There are multiple Golden Eagle Catamarans -- there were 2 at the dock when we did our tour, so your tour is probably running. If I had to do it over again I would choose a different shore excursion. I don't think I could have swum to shore if we had been involved in the head on collision at full speed that we narrowly missed. I don't think the lady in the wheelchair could have either. Or the people who were completely wasted.

Hope someone has video. Was on this cat!

Did you experience the collision?

Yes. Banged up my knees and arm. We were so lucky 🍀

Does this have to be booked through the ship, or can it be purchased directly from Golden Eagle when you arrive on St. Marten?

Golden Eagle was always our go to for St. Martin .. probably done it a dozen times and loved it. However, our last visit in July 2021 we were very disappointed. We didn't feel as "pampered" as they always had before, and the snorkeling was just barely interesting. I don't know if we went to a different area because of weather or something, but it had many floating docks and a walkway built of PVC on the ocean floor. Coral and fish not great.

We will be in St Martin next week and will be doing Golden Eagle catamaran. Any recent experience/reviews? We have done it in the past and enjoyed.

Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express

The Trans-Siberian Express is undoubtedly the most famous train route in the world, a journey from the west to the far east shrouded in intrigue and mystery. The railway actually encompasses three routes, the Trans-Siberian (from Moscow to Vladivostok) , Trans-Mongolian and Trans-Manchurian, both to Beijing . The most luxurious and comfortable way to make this fabled journey is on the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express train, Russia’s most luxurious private train journeying from Moscow to far eastern shores.

In old-world cabins with grand interiors and first-class service, passengers on The Golden Eagle also can also travel through Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and more. With tours ranging from 9 to 22 days and crossing eight time zones, make sure have plenty of time to take in and the Golden Eagle’s voyages of a lifetime.

Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express journey

Stretching across the world from Moscow to the Far East, the Trans-Siberian railway travels through Russia, Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and more. The Golden Eagle offers such routes, some taking a leisurely two weeks and crossing as many as eight time zones.

Ten itineraries are offered on the train in total, and all include hotel stays pre- and post- train. Travellers can opt for the original route across Siberia from Moscow to Vladivostok, or almost complete the route with a journey from Moscow to Ulaan Baatat for the Naadman Festival. Also in Siberia is the Trans-Siberian Winter Wonderland journey, from Moscow to Vladivostok during mid-winter, and a westbound version pulled by a steam engine.

Other highlights include Arctic Explorer – Quest for the Northern Lights, a journey from St Petersburg to Moscow via Murmansk, and the Silk Road, from Being to Moscow via Xian. Along with other Silk Road itineraries, there’s also a Caspian Odyssey journey, from Yerevan to Almaty via the Caspian Sea. Itineraries range from 12 to 22 days.

Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express train

When compared to the standard railcars of the Trans-Siberian railway, the Golden Eagle is pretty much a palace on wheels. Beneath the regal blue and gold livery are all-suite compartments, large panorama windows, two fine dining restaurants cars and a spacious bar lounge car.

With stained glass wall detailing, oak-panelling, plush cream leather sofas and feature lighting, the bar lounge car is a welcome retreat from a day of exploring. It’s the social hub of the train, hosting language teachers and lecturers by day, serving up afternoon tea and acting as a meeting point for the day’s activities. During the evening, the train’s resident pianist plays away on the baby grand and cocktails and nightcaps flow freely. The bar stays open until the very last passenger turns in for the night.

Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express Cabins

All all-suite accommodation on board the Golden Eagle is superlative, with oak wall panelling, royal blue carpets and antique-style furnishings. Two-berth Silver cabins are the most compact at 5 sqm, featuring a single upper and lower bed, TV screen with DVD player, safe, air-conditioning, wardrobe, large picture window and private en-suite shower room. Gold cabins are more spacious at 7sq m, and feature all the facilities and amenities of Silver cabins with passengers also benefiting from complimentary drinks off the Standard Bar List in the Bar Lounge Car.

Both Gold and Siler cabins come with complimentary tea, coffee and mineral water, robes, slippers and bathroom toiletries. The most opulent offering is the Imperial Suite, measuring 11.1 sq m and boasting a double bed, dressing table, lounge area, en-suite bathroom, small library, complimentary mini-bar, free premium beverages, laundry service, in-cabin dining and a bottle of Dom Perignon on arrival. All classes of suite are seating areas by day and transformed to sleeping quarters at night.

Food and drink

Dining on the Golden Eagle is a glamorous and indulgent affair, and all meals are curated and freshly prepared by the executive chef and his team. The menu includes modern takes on traditional Russian dishes, and delights like black sturgeon, borsch, red Pacific salmon caviar and fish local to Lake Baikal. Each day starts with a bountiful breakfast buffet and menu of hot dishes, whereas lunch and dinner are more formal affairs with many sit-down courses.

Ever-changing dishes made with locally sourced produce are served with a menu of fine wine pairings curated by Golden Eagles founder Tim Littler, along with draught beer and soft drinks. All meals are served in the two elegant restaurant cars, in the finest china, on white tablecloths and by white-gloved waiters.  Vegetarian and other dietary requirements are all catered for.

Venturing for thousands of miles, passengers certainly have many hours to fill, and ‘excursions’ happen both on and off the train. On board the Golden Eagle passengers can take part in Russian language classes and lecturers, and off train excursions range from city and museum tours to more unique experiences like cooking up some traditional Russian dishes with a local chef, visiting a traditional Russian Dacha (summer house), attending a local concert in Ulan Ude or visiting a shoreside Ice Festival in Lake Baikal, complete with a  hovercraft ride across the lake to see ice fishing, dog sledges and snowmobiles. All excursions are included in the ticket and include all stops on the train route.

Dress code on the Golden Eagle

During the day, the dress code on the Golden Eagle is casual, with evenings calling for smart casual attire. For winter tours guests are advised to pack ski-type jackets and trousers and thermal underwear. On board, the train itself is well heated and normal indoor clothing can be worn.

Fellow passengers

While there are no age restrictions, the majority of travellers are aged 55+, the average age being 64.

What’s included

The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian offers an all-inclusive service on its service, and the cost of a ticket includes all accommodation (on train and in hotels), three meals a day (including a welcome and farewell dinner), alcoholic drinks with meals, and tea, coffee and mineral water at all times.

Tickets also include guided off-train excursions, the services of train stewards, access to the 24/7 on-board doctor, porterage and all gratuities. Imperial Suite passengers also have all beverages included (standard and premium) from the bar car, laundry and transfers, and Gold passengers have complimentary standard beverages from the bar car.

Day 1 – London to Paris and onboard the sleeper service to Moscow

Your epic voyage begins at London St Pancras where you board the Eurostar service to begin your 8,000-mile journey across one third of the globe.  Sit back and relax as your meal and drinks are served in the comfort of your Standard Premier service seat whilst the countryside flashes past.  On arrival in Paris you change onto the direct sleeper service to Moscow.  This evening you travel eastwards through France and cross the border into Germany at around midnight.

Days 2 and 3 – Onwards towards Moscow

You spend a full day on board the sleeper train watching the passing scenery as you travel through Germany, Poland and Belarus and onwards into Russia, arriving in Moscow at around midday on Day 3. Upon leaving the train you transfer to your centrally located hotel, the stylish Four Seasons Hotel (5 star) for your two night stay.   After you have settled in to your room, you have the rest of the day to explore your surroundings.   Your hotel is superbly located in the centre of Moscow and only a short walk from the Kremlin and Red Square.

Day 4 – At leisure in Moscow

You have a full day at leisure in Moscow, with the opportunity for some sightseeing in this magnificent city.   This evening you enjoy a welcome Champagne drinks reception and dinner with wine included, and a chance to meet some of your fellow travellers who will be joining you on your amazing Trans-Siberian adventure.

Day 5 – Sightseeing in Moscow

Discover the fascinating city of Moscow and its famous sights during a full guided day which includes the Kremlin, iconic Red Square and St Basil’s Cathedral with its onion-domed spires.  In the Kremlin you will enjoy an exclusive private viewing of the treasures of the Tsars in the Armoury Chamber.   Lunch is served in the legendary Café Pushkin with its décor which evokes that of an early 19th century mansion.   In the late afternoon you will be transferred to Moscow Kazansky Station and greeted in the beautifully decorated Imperial Waiting Room with a glass of cold Russian Champagne and canapés.  You can mingle with the other guests before being escorted to the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express private train.  Once on board you have time to settle in to your modern, stylish cabin. Enjoy dinner on board the train in one of its beautifully designed restaurant cars as you begin your fantastic 12-night journey to Vladivostok.

moscow

Day 6 – Kazan

Your first stop is picturesque Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, situated  on the River Volga.  Although a large industrial city, Kazan is renowned for its beautifully ornate buildings including the Kremlin fortress, a UNESCO world-heritage site, home to the awe-inspiring Kul Sharif Mosque and the colourful onion-domed Russian Orthodox cathedral. Kazan is the birthplace of Feodor Chaliapin, one of Russia’s most famous opera singers, and you are treated to a private concert of his music.  Re-join your luxury train for dinner and perhaps a chance to meet new acquaintances over a drink in the bar car.

Kazan_Pano

Day 7 – Yekaterinburg

The train crosses the Europe-Asia divide and arrives in Yekaterinburg, capital of the Urals. Here the cultural and architectural influences of European and Asian civilisations come together in this fascinating and cosmopolitan landscape.   Your city tour includes the poignant site where the Romanov family were murdered in 1918, now a memorial church to the Russian Royal family. You will be taken to the obelisk marking the geographical border where you can drink a glass of Champagne with one foot in Europe and the other in Asia.

Day 8 – Novosibirsk

Today you arrive in Novosibirsk, capital of Siberia, founded in 1893 as a stop on the Trans-Siberian Railway, during its construction. Your guided tour includes the world’s largest Opera House, completed in 1945 by the city’s women and children, and Lenin Square, home to an impressive statue of this iconic political leader.  Time permitting you also travel to Akademgorodok to see its minerals museum and the fascinating Siberian Railway Museum.

Day 9 – On board the Golden Eagle

As your luxury train heads east you have time to watch the landscape unfold and spend a leisurely day enjoying the comfort and camaraderie of life on board.

Exterior

Day 10 – Irkutsk

This morning the train rolls into Irkutsk, the ‘Paris of Siberia’. Irkutsk is one of Siberia’s oldest cities, founded by the Cossacks in the mid-17th century. During your guided sightseeing tour marvel at the city’s Opera House, its museums and some classic Siberian carved-wood architecture, for which this area is renowned. At the Volkonsky House Museum, dedicated to the memory of the exiled aristocrats who are credited with helping to bring culture to Siberia, you are treated to a private concert and a Champagne reception. There is some free time to explore the quaint tree-lined streets and shop for souvenirs before you re-join the train.

Day 11 – Lake Baikal

Enjoy one of the most scenic days on board the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express as the train winds its way through tunnels and round cliffs as it hugs the shore of Lake Baikal, the largest freshwater lake in the world. There is a barbecue lunch on the beach (weather permitting) from where you can gaze at the snow-covered mountains on the distant shore and even go for a swim if you are feeling brave!  During the day there will be plenty of opportunities to take photographs.  After lunch is the chance to visit the small Baikal village of Listvyanka to see an exhibition about the area’s fascinating and unique ecology.

Day 12 – Ulan Ude

As you arrive in Ulan Ude, capital of the Buryat Republic, you will note a fascinating change of people and faces as you tour the area. During your guided city sightseeing there is a visit to the colourful Buddhist temple – the centre of Buddhism in Russia. At the Village of Old Believers there is time to learn about the local culture and history of these unique people as you are treated to a traditional meal and enjoy a concert featuring local dancers and musicians.

Ulan Ude

Day 13 – Ulaan Baatar

Your journey continues into Mongolia today and its’ capital city, Ulaan Baatar. Passing the central monument to the legendary ruler, Gengis Khan, there is a visit to the Natural History Museum. We start the tour at Gandan Monastery, one of Mongolia’s most important Buddhist Monasteries housing a community of over 500 monks. During lunch at a restaurant housed in a Ger or Yurt, a round felt-covered tent which is still a traditional dwelling for about a third of this nomadic nation, you can experience local hospitality and entertainment at its best.  A visit to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park allows you to experience the beautiful scenery of Mongolia.  Later you board the train in time for dinner as it heads back into Russia.

Days 14 to 16 – Remote Siberia

Now the Trans-Siberian railway, running like a steel ribbon from west to east, comes into its own as your luxury train continues eastward, contrasting dramatically with the harsh climate outside. The train follows the Shilka and Amur Rivers never far from the Chinese border. This is Siberia at its most remote. Discover the timeless beauty of this unparalleled region as the route takes you across a zone of permafrost. The vast distances and forbidding landscape demonstrate what a huge challenge it is to simply exist in this terrain. During the closing stages of your epic voyage the train reaches the most easterly point of the journey, passing Khabarovsk where it crosses the River Amur. Unbelievably you are now heading towards the Pacific coast and journey’s end. Enjoy a final dinner with your fellow travellers on board the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express.

Day 17 – The Sea of Japan and Vladivostok

Today you arrive in Vladivostok after having travelled over a staggering 8,000 miles from London along this classic route to the end of the Trans-Siberian line. It is time to bid farewell to the train as you set off on a tour of this intriguing, once “closed” city. Here, where European and Oriental cultures meet, highlights include a tour of a restored submarine, a visit to the Arsenyev History Museum and a boat cruise on Golden Horn Bay, a natural deep-water harbour which served as the headquarters of the Russian Pacific Fleet. Day 18 – Return home

After breakfast you say farewell to Vladivostock as you make your own onward flight arrangements.

The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express Hotel Train

Restaurant

Throughout your journey the bar lounge car and restaurant cars will host a variety of entertaining and enriching activities such as Russian language lessons and engaging lectures on local history and culture from expert guest speakers.  At the social heart of the train is of course the bar car lounge, a great place to relax and settle into the unhurried pace of life on board.

As evening falls, enjoy the sounds of the resident pianist playing on the baby grand piano in the bar lounge car.  Unwind in comfortable surroundings and watch the world go by as you get to know your fellow passengers… the bar stays open until the last person leaves.

A particular delight of the Golden Eagle are the two beautifully appointed restaurant cars.   Each morning a buffet breakfast is served and at lunch and dinner you will enjoy a delightful culinary experience inspired by the countries you venture through. All meals are skilfully prepared by the Executive Chef and his onboard team, using the very best ingredients and locally sourced wherever possible.  Attentive service and an excellent choice of wines accompany lunch and dinner, in addition to bottled mineral water, draught beer and soft drinks.

Day 1 moscow.

Arrive at Moscow Airport, where you are met and transferred to the stylish five-star Four Seasons Hotel Moscow. Located in the historic building of Moskva Hotel and occupying one of the most enviable addresses in the very heart of Moscow, the hotel is a short walk from the Kremlin, Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre.

On your first evening in Moscow you will be invited to a champagne drinks reception before our exclusive Welcome Dinner. Specially selected international wines are included with dinner, as with all meals during the tour.

DAY 2 Moscow

Our touring programme of Russia’s capital takes us to the grandeur of the Kremlin – the spiritual, historical and political heart of Moscow – and to see the treasures of the Tsars in the Armoury Chamber where we will enjoy an exclusive private viewing.

Our exploration of the city continues with a visit to Red Square, the iconic symbol of Russia’s former military and political might with its eclectic mix of fascinating architecture. Here we visit the ornate St Basil’s Cathedral’s magnificent onion-domed spires and marvel at the beautiful façade of the world-famous GUM department store which was constructed in Tsarist times.

Lunch is served in Café Pushkin, a legendary Moscow restaurant with a décor that revives the atmosphere of an early 19th century mansion and serves traditional Russian cuisine. An essential part of any visit to Moscow is a tour of the opulent and unique stations of the Moscow metro – showpieces of Socialist art furnished with statues, frescoes and mosaics, unsurpassed anywhere in the world.

If you have been to Moscow before we offer an included Freedom of Choice touring programme where we show you other sights of Moscow such as the famous State Tretyakov Gallery (National Museum of Fine Art) or the Space Museum (all subject to opening times).

Upon arrival at Moscow Kazansky Station in the late afternoon, you will be greeted in the ornately decorated Imperial Waiting Room with a cold glass of Russian Champagne and canapes as you mix with the other guests and are welcomed by the train staff. The excitement in the waiting room audibly mounts and, 30 minutes before departure, your car attendants will escort you to Platform 1 where the Golden Eagle awaits ready for departure.

DAY 3 Kazan

Situated on the River Volga, the picturesque and historic city of Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan. Here we see for ourselves its rich tapestry of history and culture. One of the highlights of this city tour is our exploration of the Kremlin Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within the walls of this ancient citadel we will explore the stunning mosque and picture-perfect onion-domed cathedral.

As Kazan is the birthplace of one of Russia’s most famous opera singers, Feodor Chaliapin (1873-1938), we honour his memory with a private concert of his music. You will also have time to wander through the main pedestrian area of Kazan and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the city.

DAY 4 Yekaterinburg

ounded in 1723 by Peter the Great, Yekaterinburg is the capital of the Urals. Known as the Great Divide, the Ural Mountains create the natural border between Europe and Asia so that the cultural and architectural influences of European and Asian civilisations come together in this fascinating and cosmopolitan landscape. Our city tour takes us to the poignant site where the Romanov, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, was executed with his family by the Bolsheviks in 1918 following 78 days of imprisonment. Now a church dedicated to their memory, this site provides us with a powerful insight into the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. We will also drive to the obelisk marking the geographical border can drink a glass of champagne with one foot in Europe and the other in Asia.

Time permitting, our Freedom of Choice programme features a visit to the recently opened Museum of Military Machinery. The museum houses an amazing collection of different types of military hardware including tanks, aircraft, boats and even armoured trains. The museum is a real treat for anyone with an interest in the Soviet past, unparalleled by anything else along the route. Alternatively, we will make a short stop at the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Centre, recently opened in Yekaterinburg, which is dedicated to the contemporary political history of Russia and its first president.

DAY 5 Novosibirsk

A modern ‘Soviet’ city, we experience the life and character of Novosibirsk’s rich culture where the arts and science predominate. The city is located in the heart of Russia and is situated on both banks of the River Ob. Our city tour takes us to Lenin Square where the imposing Opera House is located. An architectural marvel, it houses two permanent ballet and opera companies and is one of the largest opera houses in the world. In front of the Opera House, we visit an impressive statue of Lenin – a marvellous opportunity to have your photograph taken with this iconic political leader.

Time permitting, south of the city we will visit Novosibirsk’s excellent Railway Museum. The museum displays locomotives and rolling stock from the late 1800s, including carriages of the Tsars, through to the Soviet era. Alternatively, as part of our Freedom of Choice programme, you may choose to visit the Mineralogical Centre with its fine display of Siberian minerals.

DAY 6 On Board

A day to unwind and reflect on the many sights and sounds we have experienced on our journey so far.

Chat to your fellow passengers, perhaps learn a few words of Russian or simply enjoy the ever-changing landscape outside your window as it unfolds.

DAY 7 Irkutsk

Our visit to Irkutsk, the ‘Paris of Siberia’, takes in the most significant sites and museums in this fascinating city, including an exploration of the classic wooden architecture with its intricately carved lace-like decorations that has given many of this region’s buildings such a distinctive and unique appearance. We also visit the Volkonsky House Museum, which is dedicated to the memory of the aristocrats who were exiled to this remote outpost after the failed Decembrists uprising of 1825. We recreate the atmosphere of that time with a champagne reception and private concert.

You could learn to cook some traditional Russian dishes with a local chef and prepare your own lunch with our Freedom of Choice option. Or you might also wish to visit a traditional Russian Dacha (summer house) to get an insight into the everyday life of an average Russian family.

Please note: Freedom of Choice touring options may be subject to variations dependent on finalised train timings and local weather conditions.

DAY 8 Lake Baikal

Few natural sights can surpass the beauty and grandeur of Lake Baikal, a major highlight on our Trans-Siberian journey. Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and holds 20 per cent of the world’s freshwater. Also known as the ‘Pearl of Siberia’, it is home to a unique breed of freshwater seal and over 50 species of fish including omul. For five hours we wind our way through tunnels along cliff hugging tracks above the lake. With a vista of snow-capped peaks along the far shore forming a picture-perfect backdrop, we gain a full appreciation of the engineering achievement which produced this part of the railway in the early twentieth century. To add to the grandeur of the day our Golden Eagle train will be hauled by a Soviet Era steam locomotive on this beautiful section of line. There will be plenty of opportunities to take photographs as the train winds its way along the lake.

Weather permitting, we stop in an extremely picturesque location by the lake for photographic opportunities. For the brave hearted, there is time for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear and ice-cold waters of Baikal. Travelling onwards to the end of the Baikal branch line, we leave the train and travel by boat on the lake to Listvyanka, a small Baikal settlement nestling at the base of the surrounding hills and visit the Lake Baikal Museum and Aquarium where you can learn about the flora and fauna of the lake.

We will enjoy a delicious barbecue prepared by our own chefs, including freshly smoked omul fish, in the delightful covered dining area on the shore of Lake Baikal to complete a memorable day.

As part of our Freedom of Choice excursion programme you can choose a hiking opportunity up Chersky Mount or you can choose to take the chair lift, which offers some spectacular and panoramic hillside views of the grandeur of the lake below.

DAY 9 Ulan Ude

The ethnic and cultural diversity of Ulan Ude, the capital of the Buryat Republic, offers a unique insight into its heritage. As we tour the area you will notice the different faces of these welcoming Buryat people.

During our exploration of the Old Believers’ Village we have the opportunity to learn about the culture and history of these religious people as we are treated to a concert featuring local traditions and folk singing.

DAY 10 Ulaan Baatar

Our Trans-Siberian adventure takes us into Mongolia and a visit to its capital, Ulaan Baatar. Mongolia, once the very centre of an enormous empire led by Genghis Khan, is a country of beautiful landscapes and nomadic people, rich in culture and history. Mongolia is famous for its endless green Steppes, grazing livestock and white, nomadic Gers (Yurts) dotted across the countryside.

We start the tour at Gandan Monastery, one of Mongolia’s most important Buddhist Monasteries housing a community of over 500 monks. The full name, Gandantegchinlen, translates as ‘the great place of complete joy’. At Chinggis Square (formerly Sukhbaatar Square) we can see the central monument to Genghis Khan, undoubtedly the most feared and revered Mongol. We then drive out of the city to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and enjoy the beautiful scenery of wild Mongolia, having the opportunity to visit a traditional Ger and meet a nomadic family or try our hand at horse-riding, an intrinsic part of Mongolian life.

Alternatively, there is an option to stay in the city as part of our Freedom of Choice touring. After Gandan Monastery and Chinggis Square we visit the National Museum where we learn about the country’s intriguing history. We will also see Bogd Khan Winter Palace Museum, the winter residences of Bogd Khan, the last Mongolian emperor, built between 1893 and 1903.

We can also explore the city and have some free time for shopping for Mongolian souvenirs and their specialty cashmere. We will also enjoy a performance of traditional Mongolian throat singing and contortionists.

Please note, depending on final timings provided by the railway authorities we may substitute the railway journey from Russia into Ulaan Baatar with a private jet charter from Irkutsk or Ulan Ude so that we can maintain the advertised programme for Mongolia.  This will be advised to you in your final documentation.

DAY 11  On Board

Enjoy a more leisurely pace today as we travel through the beautiful landscape of the Russian Far East.

You may wish to attend one of the interesting lectures or Russian language lessons.

DAY 12  On Board

It’s the perfect opportunity to practice your Russian or simply relax as our journey today follows the Shilka and Amur rivers, close to the Chinese border.

Enjoy Russia at its most dramatic and remote, as the Golden Eagle eats up the miles on our way to Vladivostok.

DAY 13  On Board

Passing directly north of Seoul, Darwin and Osaka, we spend our last full day on board the Golden Eagle today as the most easterly point of this mammoth journey is reached passing through Khabarovsk, where we cross the River Amur.

Tonight we enjoy our final dinner on board our private train that has been our home for the last twelve days as we approach our final destination on this unforgettable journey.

DAY 14  Vladivostok

Vladivostok is a military port located on the western shores of the Sea of Japan and is home to the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet. Due to its military importance, the city was closed to foreigners between 1930 and 1992. Vladivostok (literally translated as ‘Ruler of the East’) offers visitors an interesting opportunity to explore its principal military attractions including a visit to a preserved World War Two submarine. Our city tour will also take us to the iconic suspension bridge over Golden Horn Bay, one of the largest of its kind worldwide, which opened in 2012 for the APEC conference.

This evening you are invited to our farewell dinner. Specially selected international wines are included with dinner, as with all meals during the tour. Our hotel in Vladivostok, where we stay for one night, is the five-star Lotte Hotel Vladivostok.

DAY 15  Vladivostok

Following breakfast, spend the remaining time in Vladivostok at your leisure, followed by your transfer which will take you to the airport to begin the return flight home.
