Benetti launches 48m custom superyacht Hawa

Benetti has launched a fully custom 48 metre superyacht named Hawa . The motor yacht hit the water for the first time in Livorno, Italy, and is scheduled for delivery to its owners in summer 2021.

Hawa was designed inside and out by British studio RWD . She is constructed in steel and aluminium and is characterised by a distinctive “desert sand” hull paint.

A primary focus of the designers when working on the concept of Hawa was to create an open layout which provides continuous contact with the surrounding environment. As such, there are a number of indoor/outdoor social spaces on board, including the main saloon with five openings to the outside world.

The upper deck aft and the sun deck also feature al fresco entertaining spaces including a dining table for 12, a drinks bar and an outdoor cinema.

Below deck, Hawa’s interiors are finished in eucalyptus and dark walnut with leather and marble details. There are accommodations for up to five guests and nine crew, with the owner’s full-beam cabin located at the bow of the yacht and offering a private study and lounge.

To optimise time spent on the water, Hawa is also equipped with a substantial beach club boasting two swimming platforms and providing a lounge space to dry off as well as shower, sauna and areas dedicated to diving and fishing. Other highlights on board include a full gym with outdoor openings.

Hawa is powered by a pair of 1,268 kW MTUs engines and can reach a top speed of 15.5 knots. At a cruising speed of 10 knots she offers a range of 4,000 nautical miles. Her hull has been specially designed by P.L.A.N.A. studio to enhance her performance at sea, in collaboration with the Azimut Benetti research and development department.

According to a statement issued by the Italian yard, the owner is a “loyal Benetti customer, passionate about boating and with a great deal of experience behind him."

Benetti Launches Custom 48m Superyacht HAWA

Benetti has launched its latest full-custom superyacht, 48m M/Y Hawa, from its shipyard in Livorno, Italy. The superyacht features an interior and exterior design penned by the celebrated English studio RWD, and she has been built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. M/Y Hawa is planned for delivery this summer.

Hawa stands out for her original layout, incredible brightness of the rooms and refined interiors, which have been furnished with matte painted eucalyptus woods and refined dark walnut details. 

The 48m superyacht accommodates 10 guests across 5 cabins, with 9 crew on hand to provide unforgettable experiences on the water. Powered by two 1268kW MTU engines, she has a cruising speed of 10 miles and a range of 4,000nm. 

The owner is a loyal Benetti customer, passionate about boating and with extensive experience on the waters. He declared himself very satisfied with the result and recognized the shipyard for its excellent know-how and the manufacturing capacity in completing the project with his input in careful consideration. 

Characterized by elegant external lines, M/Y Hawa wears a “desert sand” hull colour which was selected by her owner, while her original layout prioritises continuous contact with the environment. 

The Main Deck enjoys incredible brightness, owing to a lounge with five openings to the outside that offer continuous views across the sea. Toward the bow, a traditional galley has been replaced by a large VIP cabin with shower and sauna that precedes the full-beam master cabin. The space has been designed with a private study for the owner, bed, two wardrobes on the port side and a lounge area with bathroom to the starboard. 

The Lower Deck houses three double cabins for guests as well as the galley, equipped with a dumbwaiter that allows the crew to serve all decks. The beach area has two side openings that deploy into platforms, adding to the already considerable beach area. 

The aft part of the Upper Deck is designed for convivial moments in the open air, with areas for relaxation, conversation and sunbathing. Inside the bright sky lounge there is a pantry, complete gym and wheelhouse with full-height windows covering 180-degrees. The wheelhouse boasts an advanced level of software integration, derived from military technology, along with ceiling screens and an ergonomic Besenzoni commander’s chair, all of which has made it possible to have all the controls in two small ‘peninsulas’, oriented like extended armrests of the ‘Captain Chair’. 

The Sun Deck is designed to make the most of every time of the day. The stern and bow spaces are separated by a windproof structure with sliding doors that increases the feeling of privacy for the owner and guests. The stern area features a dining table for 12 people. The large sofa that frames a cinema area is accessible from the external staircase, while the bow area is equipped with bar counter, table for 4, and forward-facing sundeck sofa. 

This stunning new full-custom 48m superyacht is another fine addition to the stellar Benetti fleet, and we look forward to her delivery this summer. The news of Hawa's launch comes shortly after Benetti announced the launch of 65m custom superyacht Zazou in April 2021.

The use of refined furnishing elements and materials is striking, in particular the matte-painted eucalyptus with dark walnut details and inlays of various leathers and marbles.

The main deck enjoys incredible brightness, thanks to a lounge with five openings to the outside that allow continuous views of the sea. Toward the bow, instead of the traditional galley, the Owner asked to have a pantry and a large VIP cabin with shower with sauna that precedes the large full beam master cabin. Here the space was designed with a private study for the Owner, a bed, two wardrobes on the port side and a lounge area with bathroom to the starboard.

The lower deck houses three double cabins for guests, as well as the galley, equipped with a dumbwaiter that allows the crew to serve all decks, including the sun deck. The beach area has two side openings that deploy into platforms, overlooking the sea that add to the considerable beach area. The interiors of the beach club are designed to maximise the enjoyment of relaxing moments and feature a comfortable L-shaped sofa, a bathroom with shower, sauna and an area dedicated to fishing and diving equipment – two great passions of the Owner.

The aft part of the upper deck is designed for convivial moments in the open air, with areas for relaxation, conversation and sunbathing. Inside the bright sky lounge with two large opening side windows, there is a pantry, a complete gym (also with opening side windows), and the wheelhouse with full-height windows covering 180°. For the classic wheelhouse, the Owner preferred a futuristic ‘light bridge console’ developed by Benetti. The advanced level of software integration, derived from military technology, and the choice to have ceiling screens and an ergonomic Besenzoni commander’s chair, made it possible to have all the controls in two small ‘peninsulas’, oriented like extended armrests of the captain’s chair. Racks and navigational devices are housed within two compartments located by the entrance to the area.

The sun deck is designed to make the most of every time of day. The stern and bow spaces are separated by a windproof structure with sliding doors that increases the feeling of privacy for the Owner and guests. The stern area features a dining table for 12 people. The large sofa that frames a cinema area is accessible from the external staircase, while the bow area is equipped with a bar counter, table for four and a forward-facing sundeck sofa. The space can be accessed by the crew from a separate staircase.

The hull, designed by the P.L.A.N.A. studio in collaboration with the Azimut Benetti Research and Development department, ensures high performance and excellent seaworthiness for safe and comfortable navigation. The engine room houses a pair of MTUs of 1,268 kW each, which guarantee the yacht a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles at the 10 knot cruising speed.

Hawa is planned for delivery this summer.

At the end of April, Benetti launched their latest yacht, the 48-meter "Hawa". This vessel finished in a sandy hull colour has a design both inside and out by RWD. Three double cabins are located on the lower deck for guests while the owner and a VIP reside in the master suite and VIP cabins located on the main deck. Two MTU engines are expected to provide a 15.5-knot top speed and at 10-knots, a 4,000 nautical mile range is anticipated. Hawa was built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Delivery is anticipated for Summer 2021.

Italian shipyard, Benetti announced the launch of its latest Oasis 40M motor yacht KAHALA . The yacht represents the 14th Benetti Oasis 40M model, boasting exterior design by RWD and interiors by Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture .

Five staterooms with ensuite bathroom facilities accommodate up to ten guests in style and great comfort, while a crew of nine ensure everyone on board is well taken care of and has a relaxing time. Some of the outstanding design aspects of the yacht include the curved glass Wass in the study or the flexible beach club that can be converted into a vast water-side terrace.

KAHALA is powered by two MAN Diesel engines, allowing her to reach a maximum speed of up to 16 knots and cruise at a comfortable speed of 12 knots.

Chukotka Autonomous Okrug - Overview

Chukotka Autonomous Okrug or just Chukotka is a federal subject of Russia located in the Far East, bordering with the United States by sea in the east, part of the Far Eastern Federal District. Anadyr is the capital city of the region.

The population of Chukotka is about 50,000 (2022), the area - 721,481 sq. km.

19 December, 2019   / On December 19, 2019, in Pevek, the northernmost city of Russia located in the Chukotka Autonomous Region, the floating nuclear power plant "Akademik Lomonosov" began to supply electricity to the local grid. Thus, the number of operating nuclear power plants in Russia increased from 10 to 11.

History of Chukotka

The first people came to Chukotka tens of thousands of years ago during the Stone Age. These were primitive hunters from more southern regions of Central and Eastern Asia. In those days tundra of North-East Asia and Alaska were a single natural region of Beringia with forests, herds of mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses, bison, reindeer.

In contrast to the mythical Atlantis, Beringia went under water about 10 thousand years ago. The earliest found ancient man sites in Chukotka are Ananayveem on the Ananayveem River (about 8,400 years ago) and Koolen IV on Lake Koolen near the village of Uelen (about 6,000 years ago).

In historical time the Chukchi are considered the indigenous people of Chukotka, although they preserved the memory of the more ancient people called the Onkilons. Reindeer husbandry played an important role in the rise of the Chukchi. The first encounter with the Russians happened in 1641, to the west of present Chukotka on the Yana River. By this time, the Chukchi were still at the technological level of the Stone Age.

Chukotka itself was discovered by the Russians during an expedition of Semyon Dezhnev in 1648. Anadyr fortress, founded in 1649, became the first Russian settlement. In the era of Russian colonization of Chukotka, it belonged to Yakutsk province. In 1778, the official peace treaty was signed between the Russians and the Chukchi.

In 1930, Chukotka national region was formed. In 1980, it became autonomous. In 1992, Chukotka autonomous region withdrew from the Magadan region and became a separate subject of the Russian Federation. Today, it is the only autonomous okrug that is not part of any region of Russia.

Chukotka - Features

The entire territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug refers to the Far North. Pevek, the northernmost town in Russia, and Anadyr, the easternmost town, are located here. Chukotka occupies the entire peninsula of Chukotka and a number of islands (Wrangel, Ayon, Big Diomede and others). The region is washed by the East Siberian and Chukchi Seas of the Arctic Ocean and the Bering Sea of the Pacific Ocean.

Most of the region is located above the Arctic Circle. Therefore, the climate is harsh, subarctic, on the coast - maritime, in the hinterland - continental. Winter lasts up to 10 months. The average temperature in January varies from -15 to -39 degrees Celsius, in July - from +5 to +10 degrees Celsius, the absolute minimum - minus 61 degrees Celsius, the absolute maximum - plus 34 degrees Celsius. A lot of climatic records were registered in Chukotka.

The territory of Chukotka is rich in water resources. There are more than 8,000 rivers longer than 10 km, most of them are mountain rivers. The main rivers are the Anadyr, Omolon, Velikaya, Amguema, Bolshoi, and Maly Anyui. The largest lakes are Krasnoye, Maynits, Pekulneyskoe and unique Lake El’gygytgyn, the study of which allows people to understand what was the climate of the Earth thousands of years ago.

Chukotka has large reserves of natural resources: oil, natural gas, coal, gold, tin, tungsten, quicksilver. Mining industry is the basis of the local economy. The indigenous population is engaged in traditional crafts.

The main focus of agriculture in the region is reindeer herding. Chukotka reindeer herd is one of the largest in the world. In 1970, it reached its maximum - 587 thousand (a quarter of the world population of reindeer). In 2010, the number was about 195 thousand.

Tourism in Chukotka

Tourism is based on expeditions, cruises, ethno-tourism. Cruises attract the largest number of visitors, mainly foreigners. The main attractions are located in the border area. Foreigners need to get permission of the Federal Security Service of Russia to visit Chukotka.

Today, paved roads are available only in the towns and adjacent villages; throughout the rest of the territory of Chukotka winter roads are used - unpaved roads, where movement is possible only in winter. Chukotka also has no railways. The main means of transport for long-distance transportation are sea and air. Despite the proximity of Alaska, there are no regular air and sea links.

Traveling by waterways provides an excellent opportunity to see the beautiful nature of Chukotka. Kayaking and boating are possible in July and August, in the rest of the year the rivers are either covered with ice or too shallow.

Cruises are available along the coast of Chukotka and Providence districts (mostly American, Canadian and Russian tourists). They include visiting unique natural sites, historical and cultural monuments: the Whale Alley on Yttyrgan Island, Lorin hot springs, ethnographical places on Nunyamo and Dezhnev capes, national settlements.

Also cruises along the coast of Anadyr and Bering districts become more and more popular. For tourists visiting Anadyr in summer there are tours in Onemen Bay, Kanchalin estuaries, Anadyr estuary and mouths of the Anadyr and Velikaya rivers. Chukotka has a lot of hunting places.

Every year a large number of Russian and foreign scientists visit Chukotka and conduct research in various fields of science. Several scientific expeditions are constantly working in the region. The camps of reindeer-breeders in Shmidt and Iultinsky districts and settlements on the coast attract ethnographers and linguists who study the peoples of the Far North. Ornithologists are frequent guests in Chukotka too, more than 250 species of birds live here.

Chukotka is mostly hilly territory with low- and middle mountain relief. Under these conditions walking and biking tours of various complexity are possible in summer. Famous extreme travelers consider Chukotka one of the most difficult and interesting regions in the world.
