Fortunately, Croatia enacted fewer restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing our guests more freedom in their vacation planning. This year we said goodbye to Marina Vodice and moved to Marina Betina on the beautiful island of Murter. Murter is known as the gateway to the Kornati islands and is an excellent starting point for a sailing trip on the Adriatic. The grace of the landscape reveals itself in idyllic bays, great beaches, a variety of festivals and events, the boat building museum, the Gajeta regatta in August and much more. Discover the diversity of the region for yourself. 4. Sailing Conditions

Croatian sailing season runs from April to November and is quite long. The best period to come to Croatia depends on the kind of vacation that you would like to have. In July and August, periods of calm prevail - ideal for those who like smooth waters for enjoying the summer fun activities and water sports, or relaxed vacation with the family.

Winds are predominantly westerly in the summer (Mistral and Tramontana). If sailing is your primary interest then Croatia is a place for you during the early summer and spring with light to moderate winds in May and June.

September and October will provide you with the right winds to set your sails and trim your jib with prolonged periods of the Bora (strong north wind) and the Scirocco (humid east-southeast wind). While bura and jugo each in their own way offer sailors excitement and challenge, maestral guarantees pure pleasure during which you can give yourself to the sea without fear. Sailing during the winter on the Adriatic is a unique adventure as well, but make sure that you charter a boat with the heating and prepare yourself for possible high winds and rough seas.

5. Mediterranean Climate with Hot Summers and Mild Winters

2,500+ hours of sunshine every year make Croatia one of the sunniest regions in Europe. The Croatian coast has a Mediterranean climate and which means that summers are hot, and winters are mild. The typical sailing season is from early April to late October while the peak season is in July and August. The less crowded months are June and September while the weather is still predominantly sunny and warm. In April and May (pre-season) and in October (post-season) the weather can be more unstable. You could experience summer temperatures with occasional cold fronts and showers. However, these months are perfect for you if you want peace and quiet and decent sailing winds.

6. Preserved Nature

Croatia is among the most persevered regions in Europe. The slogan of the Croatian Tourist Board has been used for years and is actually “Croatia - the Mediterranean as it once was”. That is one of the reasons why Sailing in Croatia is popular. You can rent this boat in Murter and it navigate yourself toward north to visit beautiful islands near Murter, like Vrgada island. While there, you can enjoy the amazing views, try local food and olive oil. Croatian specialties, fresh fish and sea food is some of the best!
