Eurocraft Explorer 44 (2011) Description

Built in 2011 and delivered in 2012, the 143’ EUROCRAFT EXPLORER 44 motor yacht is a steel and aluminium tri-deck vessel with an ice-breaker displacement hull. Her imposing exterior combines the classic lines of a modern Superyacht with hints of a strong yacht, built to explore more remote destinations in the world. So far, she is one of the two largest yachts built by the Italian yard Eurocraft Cantieri Navali.

This explorer yacht features naval architecture and exterior design by Eurocraft Studio and elegant interior design by Eurocraft Studio as well as her Owner. This EUROCRAFT EXPLORER 44 is incredibly stable at anchor thanks to her zero speed stabilizers. She is tailor-made for adventures across the high seas; from the tropics to the poles, where all you need to do is kick-back, relax and enjoy the spectacular vistas as you cruise on by.

With an impressive beam of 8.2m and a draft of 3m, she boats a vast volume of 478 GT. She is powered by twin 805 Hp MTU Diesel engines, which give her a maximum speed of 13.5 knots, while cruising at 10 knots. She also boats an incredibly long range of 25,000 nautical miles at eco speed of 6 knots.

The EUROCRAFT EXPLORER 44 for sale is thus a three-deck yacht with large aft external deck and an expansive open sun deck with large Jacuzzi, two dining areas; one inside on the main deck and one alfresco on the aft bridge deck, the main saloon on the main deck and a comfortable sky lounge on the bridge deck. This provides numerous deck spaces onboard for socialising and entertaining.

Coded for charter in Bureau Veritas Class, she can hold up to 50 guests for parties and corporate events.

She provides luxurious accommodation onboard for up to 12 guests in 6 generous en-suite staterooms. The Master suite is located on the main deck and offers spectacular stunning sea views through its large oval windows, as well as encompassing a separate office, His and Hers bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe. Welcome to the News and Views Archive. This collection has been digitized in searchable pdf format directly from the official document collections of the International Skeeter Association and the Northwestern Ice Yachting Association.   In the 1950’s and earlier, the two Associations published documents such as meeting minutes and race results separately. Beginning in the 1960’s, the publication “ISA News and Views” was used to gather and publish news, meeting information, race results, member lists, local club news, and a for sale section.   The collection is organized by Iceboat racing season, which stretches from fall of one year through spring of the following year. The order of seasons starts with the most recent and goes back to 1948-49 season.   The content gives an insight into developments in iceboating over the last 75 years, with the voices and images of many of the most prominent competitors, designers and builders appearing in these pages.   I hope you enjoy your journey back in time using these archives. PROVISIONAL RESULTS EVENT PAGE Update –  Post updated to include the real location. The webmaster regrets the error and blames it on not enough coffee. The 2024 Northwest Regatta kicked off on Lake WACONIA in Minnesota on Friday, February 23, the first one held in five years.

The winds remained relatively steady throughout most of the day, ranging from 8 to 12 mph. The Race Committee had to reset the course twice. However, as the day progressed, the winds began to fade. The last Stern Steerer, B Skeeter, and DN races were black-flagged because of the time limit.

The bumpy ice conditions tested each sailor’s skills. After each race, sailors had to check all fittings to ensure they remained secure, noted DNer John Harper (US60) from Michigan.

Feb 18, 2024 Regatta Watch: NIYA, ISA & Renegade Championship Called ON for Feb 23-25

NORTHWEST The Northwestern Ice Yachting Association Race Committee has called the 2024 regatta on for a yet to be determined Minnesota location north and west of St. Cloud. The dates are February 23rd-25th. The lakes are still to be final checked for surface and launch conditions. There are potential lakes in the Alexandria area, where lodging may be an issue, and lakes further north. The final call will be made as soon as possible, but Wednesday February 21st by noon at the latest. ISA The International Skeeter Association Race Committee has made the same call on for February 23rd-25th. In the event the Northwest is held the ISA will defer and postpone. A Big Thanks to NIYA & ISA Ice Checkers

The Race Committees for the Northwest and ISA regattas, would like to acknowledge all the efforts of our ice checkers who have been scouting and sailing potential regatta sites. Pat Heppert and Chris Wiberg spent an entire weekend driving the width of Minnesota setting up their boats and test sailing multiple lakes. Terry Reynolds and Mike Peters sailed Little Bay De Noc, and Jim McDonagh drove up to Lake Osakis on Wednesday at dawn sailed his DN all over the lake, then drove back in a whiteout. Blue Ice is a stunning Uniesse 72, entirely refitted in 2016. Its 22,4-meter length offers the spaces and comfort of a much larger boat. Education | Centennial Middle’s Arctic float boats recovered in Iceland

The small cedar boat that Boulder High 10th grader Yandel Becerra decorated in the spring of 2023 as a middle schooler made it from an ice floe in the Arctic Ocean to Iceland’s Black Beach earlier this summer.

Becerra was one of about 180 Centennial Middle School eighth graders who decorated wood boats as part of the Float Your Boat program. The project was led by now retired science teachers Bill Schmoker and Tina Mueh as a culminating activity for an oceanography unit.

Centennial’s current science teachers are considering participating in the program again this year and are on a waitlist to receive boats.

Becerra said he was shocked when he learned his boat was found in June.

“I mostly felt amazement because I realized how truly big, but small, the world is that one boat out of 30 in my class has been found so far away,” he wrote in an email. “Never in a million years, I would have thought I would encounter the wooden boat I had decorated two years prior.”

To participate in the Float Your Boat program, educators request a delivery of the 8-inch-long wooden boats, which are stamped with a number and web address. Students decorate the boats, and the teachers return them to the University of Washington’s Polar Science Center.

The decorated boats then are loaded on a plane or icebreaker ship on a research expedition to the Arctic Ocean. Scientists place the boats on an ice floe, along with a GPS buoy that allows participants to track the drift of the boats by following the buoy’s location. The boats can be tracked until they end up in the ocean when the ice drifts out of the Arctic and melts.

If someone later finds and reports a boat through the website, organizers let the participants know.

Schmoker, at Centennial, learned about the program when he was a PolarTREC teacher aboard a U.S. Coast Guard cutter. When he made his trip to the North Pole in 2015, the first batches of the Float Your Boat drift boats were placed on sea ice along the way. He received an email from a fisherman a couple of years later who found one of the boats and then located his contact information on a blog about his travels.

When Schmoker brought the project to Centennial in 2023, he included technology teacher Scott Kohla, who used a laser engraving machine to add the school’s cyclone logo to each boat before they were decorated by the eighth grade class.

Once decorated, the Centennial boats were dropped in the summer of 2023 at one location near Utqiaġvik, Alaska, and in two locations in the North Pole.

So far, four of Centennial’s boats from the North Pole were found this summer on beaches in Iceland. When found by campers walking on Black Beach , Becerra’s boat still had the cyclone and his name on one side, as well as the polar bear she drew on the other side.

“I chose something meaningful to me, which was a polar bear,” he wrote in an email. “I chose it to symbolize an animal that is resilient and can go on day to day in the hardest conditions while keeping its head up, which is what my boat did.”

Schmoker said it makes sense that the boats turned up in Iceland, since Iceland and Greenland are the first bodies of land as the Transpolar Drift exits from the Arctic Ocean into the North Atlantic. Beachcombing is popular in Iceland, while the coastal area of northeast Greenland is remote and largely uninhabited, he said.

Other places boats have been reported in the past include Norway, Canada, Russia, Alaska, some northern British islands and the Faroe Islands.

Schmoker used the project to give students a hands on experience to cap off the oceanography unit, which included learning about how ocean currents impact global weather patterns and heat distribution.

“Even though we are extremely far removed from the ocean in Colorado, ocean currents are incredibly important,” he said. “It’s all interconnected. There’s a big outreach component to the project to get kids personally involved.”

Algoma to celebrate Ice Age Trail Community designation

ALGOMA (WLUK) -- People along the Lakeshore are getting ready for a celebration that's at least 10,000 years in the making.

The National Scenic Ice Age Trail runs 1,200 miles around the state, following the path of the last time glaciers stretched into Wisconsin.

Now, Algoma is becoming the newest Ice Age Trail Community.

The trailhead for the Algoma section of the Ice Age Trail begins at the corner of 6th Street and Perry Street on the city's northwest side. John Pabich says the route then turns toward downtown.

"We've walked the Ice Age Trail in several different areas. And the ones that we found to be the most interesting for the trail communities are the ones that showed you all of their community," said Pabich, chair of the Algoma Ice Age Trail Community Committee.

Pabich was part of a push to get Algoma recognized as an Ice Age Trail Community. A ribbon cutting celebration is scheduled for Sunday at the Algoma Boat Club just across town.

"We're going to have food. We'll have Steel Belly BBQ there for purchase. Beverages will be available for purchase inside the boat club. We're going to have cake and ice cream sandwiches. We're going to ask folks to bring their lawn chairs. We don't know how many people we're going to have," said Pabich.

Algoma City Administrator Matt Murphy says he expects to see new faces along the 2.5 mile route.

"Any time different means, or different methods of bringing people into the city, to showcase what we have downtown. Whether it's our art on some of our historic buildings, or to use some of our local businesses, is fantastic," said Murphy.

Bright yellow markers called blazers guide the way, down to the Crescent Beach Boardwalk and beyond. Pabich says taking to the Ice Age Trail can be therapeutic.

"A lot of times, it's like a meditation. And it kind of takes you back, takes you down a little bit. You find out it's always good to commune with nature, to kind of re-center yourself. That's how I see it. And I'm sure there are other hikers that have a similar experience," he said.

Algoma will be the 22nd Ice Age Trail Community.

The August 25 celebration is free and open to the public. It runs from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
