Welcome Aboard Temma, our beautiful 42ft, one of a kind, custom built commuter yacht. Built in 1928 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine by BW Rand's Boat Shop. Originally named Priscilla for the Teel Family in Boston, MA. Before Pricilla, BW Rand's Boat Shop built a Sam Crocker Design with a raised deck. BW Rand later realized that with a couple changes he could improve upon the original Sam Crocker Design. With borrowed molds, the shop spaced some sections, and opted for the long cabin top and adjusted the stern layouts. With a displacement hull, speed was never the main goal for Temma but instead designed to be stable & spacious. With her smooth styling, Temma is a perfect cruiser. Over the years multiple families have been the caretakers of this iconic New England Yacht & each have maintained her perfectly, for the next owners to continue on the legacy. Newport Classic Yacht Co. welcomes you to our private yacht endeavor, Temma.

Summer wind is in the Air

Early summer is here and a great time to book a charter. Here’s what you will see and do on a charter from Newport Yacht Charters.

Pickup is at Ann Street Pier, right off Thames St. Going around the harbor heading south first, clockwise, is Cottrell’s Wharf. This is a time share condo’s with boat dockages. The next dock is Brown & Howard Wharf. This is the start of the biggest yachts to tie up in Newport Harbor. Lee’s Wharf is next with West Howard Wharf right after. The next dockage belongs to the International Yacht Restoration School at Spring Wharf. Still heading in a southerly direction is Waites Wharf. An upscale restaurant called, ‘At The Deck’ is at the end of the dock surrounded by an RSVP dock called West Wind Marina. Ending the cruise south is Coddington Wharf with high end condominiums.

Turning to the east we pass by Kings Park. Kings Park has a monument to the French nobleman and General Rochambeau erected in 1934. General Rochambeau was a key commander of the French forces in 1780 who assisted George Washington and the Continental army during the American Revolutionary war. The next dockage ahead is the Ida Lewis Yacht Club. The name, ‘Ida Lewis’ derives its name from the nationally famous daughter of the keeper of the Lime Rock Light. Ida Lewis took over light house duties about 1869 until her death in 1911. She was credited with saving eighteen lives which is shown as eighteen stars on the Ida Lewis Burgee.

Coming up next on the cruise is the original estate of John Nicholas Brown, ‘Harbour Court’ estate. The estate was built in 1904-1904 for the widow of John Nicholas Brown I. In 1987, the New York Yacht Club purchased the estate as their summer headquarters.

The next mansion in Brenton Cover is a Scottish Baronial-style home called Beech Bound Estate. Beech Bound was build in 1895 for iron magnate William Fletcher Burden and his wife circa 1859-1897. The mansion was split into condominiums in the 1970’s.

Right after Beech Bound is Bonnie Crest. Bonnie Crest was built by J. Russell Pope for Stewart Duncan, of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, in 1926. Allegedly, the home’s chimneys are all designed to look like Lea & Perrins Bottles.

Coming up next on the tour is Beacon Hill House, circa 1891. Built for Edwin Morgan, cousin of J. P. Morgan who lived there for 3 decades. In 1921, Captain Marion Eppley took possession for the estate for 20 more years. In 1951, the property was purchased by Felix De Weldon, a world-renowned artist. The mansion has 16 principal rooms, 10 ½ baths, 11 fireplaces, 2 billiard tables, weight room, and steam room.

Further south on the tour is the Brenton Cove condominiums overlooking the end of the cove. These condo’s were built in the 1970’s and do rent for about $10,000 per month in the summer and have sold for $750,000.

We have been out in Newport on a few different charter boats, but our experience on Tabasco was simply the best. The boat is a great example of a traditional New England picnic boat and Curtis and his crew were top notch. They have complimentary local drinks on board and have partnered with Bellevue Boards to let you pre-order a charcuterie board ahead of time - the perfect, classy snack on this 1.5 hours cruise. Should you be interested, they are very knowledgeable about the area and are happy to note points of interest and history along the way, or if you prefer, they will let you and you guests talk amongst yourselves instead. This is not a one-size fits all operation, and they are happy to work around your wishes. You can't visit Newport without getting out on the water, and there is no better way than Tabasco!

Yacht Charters & Sailing Vacations from 42′ to 45′ Sailboats… offering 3 and 4 cabin sailboats

Charter Payments

For your private boat charter a 50% deposit is required upon signing our contract. Final payment is due 10 business days prior to the event.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy: For your private boat charter the total charter amount returned if cancelled more than 15 days in advance. Owner will refund 75% of the total charter amount if cancelled 14 days in advance of the charter date (half the deposit is returned). Owner will refund 50% of the total charter amount if cancelled between14 and 5 days in advance of the charter date (deposit is forfeited). Cancellations due to weather are made only by the captain. This decision can be made up until one hour before departure. A full refund or the option to reschedule without penalty is available if the Captain cancels due to weather. If the Charterer wishes to reschedule for any reason with at least a 5 days notice, a 25% rescheduling fee will be applied. If the Charterer wishes to reschedule due to weather predictions or for any reason without the Captain’s accord within 5 days of the event, a 50% rescheduling fee is applied.

We are located off of America’s Cup Avenue in front of the “Landing Restaurant” at 23 Bowens Wharf in Newport Rhode Island 02840.

Parking Information

Metered parking is limited, and traffic can get very congested in the area, plan at least 30 minutes for parking. There are also several pay lots available, and the Gateway Parking Lot, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the boat.

Sailing in Newport Rhode Island’s waters is world-class and is a wonderful way to experience this beautiful and historic area. Aboard one of our two boats, you can enjoy one of our custom private day sail charters. Our two sailboats are icons of the Newport Sailing fleet and of Narragansett Bay. Lyra is our 44-foot Reliance sailboat and Wren is our 35-foot Allied Seabreeze. With a capacity of up to 6 guests each, both boats sail on daily charters from Newport RI, beginning mid-April through the end of October. We offer private 90-minute, two-hour, three-hour, half and full-day sailing charters. Once you confirm your reservation, your broker will process your payment.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

This was the most epic trip. We took our friends and family to Catalina for an amazing day.  Captain Mark was absolutely phenomenal.  He was super fun and accommodating.  He took us around wherever we wanted to go and care of everything. He set up all the toys and made sure we had everything we wanted at all times.  The boat is gorgeous and was spotless.  This was one of the most memorable days ever.  Thank you!!!

Captain Mark and Aperitivo = Only the Best! We had a super fun full life aquatic day for the Huntington Beach Airshow with fam and friends. Yachting with Captain Mark felt more like yachting with family. Mark has a boating CV that is lifelong, outstanding professional experience with a penchant for safety. That said; it was max fun knowing we were in great hands and enjoyed the day with blue skies, blue water and a high caliber Airshow out in the ocean.  I even brought my father whom recently turned 79. He became as youthful as a teenager on full smiles out on the water with Mark showing him the ropes of yacht Aperitivo. All my friends are already calling me to make plans and get their families out on the water. Highly recommended, do not hesitate, get out and yacht; nothing but outstanding family/friends memories that will not be forgotten; thank you Mark, thank you Aperitivo 100%.

We chartered the Aperitivo for my daughter’s 15th birthday. Mark the Captain made us all feel comfortable and safe. His experience and knowledge of the ocean were very apparent. Everyone had a great time swimming, hanging out on the swim float, and paddleboarding. I had no idea how fast 4 hours could go by. The kids all had a blast and were very grateful of their time on the water. If you’re in the Newport Beach area and want to spend some quality time on a luxury vessel, then book this boat.
