43 Wallytender Reviewed

In the 43 Wallytender, the design signatures of Monaco-based Wally are immediately apparent: a near-plumb and wave-piercing bow, a low sheerline, chunky all-around rub rails, flush teak decking, and sun pads everywhere. As with other recent launches from this builder, the 43 has fold-down quarter cheeks that create beach decks aft, and there’s a cuddy cabin with a head under the foredeck, making the boat an option for weekends aboard.

But what makes the 43 different from previous Wallytender launches is a center cockpit that can be ordered with a galley module. The cockpit is created by high wraparound glazing that leaves room for practical side decks and provides a little more weather protection and privacy on board.

In other words, the 43 is proof positive that the Wallytender has evolved again—in ways that continue to make the boating experience better.

Attention to detail has always been Wally’s fairy dust, and it’s evident in far more than the 43′s center cockpit. Also impressive is the windshield, which is a one-piece, thick acrylic panel with a clean, simple molded crease down the middle. Then there’s the broad use of carbon fiber: on the window framing to port and starboard, the framed pilot seats, the instrument console, the pedestal table in the cockpit, and the yacht’s T-top, which has sailcloth panels. All of these details add to the boat’s unmistakable style.

The 43, like all the latest Wallytenders, is built in Forli, Italy, by the Ferretti Group, which has owned Wally for the past two years. Hulls are vacuum-bagged with solid vinylester laminates below the waterline and foam cores above it.

Standard propulsion is twin 380 hp Volvo Penta Aquamatic D6 Duoprop sterndrives, but the 43 I got aboard had the upgraded twin 440 hp D6 engines, which reportedly add around 4 knots to the yacht’s top-end speed. As with every other Wallytender I’ve driven over the years, the 43′s handling was light and precise.

When I opened up the diesels to their maximum 3,600 rpm, the 43 managed a consistent 39 knots while taking 3-foot seas in stride, all at more than half-load with six people, full water and just more than half fuel on board. The performance falls in line with Wally’s promise of a 40-knot top-end speed.

With the engines spinning at 3,000 to 3,200 rpm, expect to cruise at the 27- to 30-knot mark, at which point the Volvo Pentas consume more than 30 gallons per hour, providing a range of 270 to 280 nautical miles.

The yacht’s standard finish is white gelcoat, but Wallytender owners typically opt for paint. Hull No. 1 of the 43 Wallytender has an iridescent metallic “gator green” hull. The color is an homage to the Wallygator, the boat that Wally founder Luca Bassani built almost 30 years ago, in the earliest days of the brand.

Styling and details may change over the years, but cool is just cool forever.

Wally Yachts Reveals 43wallytender

Wally Yachts has revealed a 13 metre new tender model named the 43wallytender.

Developed by Wally with Ferretti Group’s technical engineering department, the 43wallytender builds on the group’s successful 48wallytender model.

Constructed in advanced composite at Ferretti Group’s Forli-based facility, the 43wallytender will be available in a range of eye-catching colours.

The first unit is currently under production and due for completion in August. Featuring a “striking iridescent green hull” dubbed “gator green” in reference to Wally’s first sailing yacht the Wallygator, the first hull will be unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival this September.

Key features of the new model include a new ‘centre cockpit’ design that combines “the protection of the cockpit with the practicality and access of a walkaround”.

Wraparound glass will cocoon those onboard from three sides while the T-Top will shelter from above.

Elsewhere, the 43wallytender, which has been specifically designed for driver experience, easy handling and performance, will feature a flush, open deck space behind the cockpit.

Storage in the aft sunbed will be large enough to swallow Seabobs, wakeboards, scuba diving tanks and other small water toys.

Powered by a pair of Volvo Penta diesel 380hp engines, 43wallytender will have a top speed of 36 knots. Owners also have the option to upgrade to twin 440hp engines for predicted top speeds of more than 40 knots.

Speaking about the new model, chief designer and founder of Wally, Luca Bassani, said: “Our team has worked tirelessly to create a new tender that perfectly meets the multifunctional needs of today’s owners while also staying true to our Wally design philosophy. You will not find a single item onboard that does not serve a purpose in its purest, simplest and most beautiful form.”

Wally managing director Stefano de Vivo added: “Upholding Wally’s customary cool aesthetics and extraordinary performance, this latest addition to the Wally family is sure to be a benchmark of the future.”

Thrilling fast - wally tender 43

Here we have the stealth-looking Wally Tender 43. This particular Wally was the first ever to be sold as new in Southeast Asia, when she was bought by a Singapore-based enthusiast in 2022. It came after Wally Yachts joined the Ferretti Group’s portfolio of owned brands in 2019. The sale was facilitated by an exclusive local dealer; Hong Seh Yachting based at Sentosa Cove, Singapore. Hong Seh represents various brands in the realm of prestigious yachting, such as Riva, Ferretti, and Pershing.

With over 25 years of experience, Monaco-based Wally Yachts have created an unparalleled 13.2m vessel with supreme handling and power. She is thrillingly fast with an athletic performance of around 40 knots. Power comes from her two Volvo Penta D6 diesel engines that provide a maximum combined propulsion of 880 horsepower.

She has a beam of 4.3m and sits in the water with a 1.2m draft. With a max capacity of 1,200 litres in her fuel tank, and a comfortable cruising speed of 30 knots, she can reach a range of approx 320 nautical miles at a blistering pace.

The seaworthy Wally Tender 43 has a carbon fibre superstructure and a balanced, deep-V carbon fibre hull for utmost durability and maneuverability. Her state-of-the-art cockpit is enveloped behind a striking angular glass windshield and is centrally located at the heart of the vessel, which allows for a convenient and practical walkaround with LED deck lighting. 

Mounted across her T-top, upon single slim-line pillars, is a unique carbon sail hard-top that sets the stage for an unrivaled experience on the water. This aerodynamic, innovative solution allows passengers to enjoy the exhilarating open-air living even at top speeds, with its provision of dappled sunshade and protection from the elements. Her slick exterior lines and streamlined silhouette exudes a sense of timeless beauty. 

Merging the allure of adventure with the embodiment of refined opulence, this remarkable vessel has set a new standard in the world of luxury seafaring. Not only does she have a sumptuous sunpad at her foredeck and an alfresco dining area aft of the helm, but she also boasts two fold-down bulwark wings that create an unmatched, expansive beachclub deck space at the stern, complete with two articulated sofa-sunpads. She looks majestic here in her gun-metal grey colouring, but she is also available in a whole range of head-turning colours.

Sunrise Yachts, a luxury yacht building company which is based in Turkey, has been made a main sponsor of next year’s 2011 Moscow International Boat Show (MIBS). The four-day Russian yacht show event is currently scheduled to run from April 14-17 at the Moscow’s Crocus exhibition centre.

MIBS is organised by the ITE Group and it is one of Russia’s leading boat shows and is an internationally recognised superyacht event. The show covering everything from small parts and accessories to large superyacht with over 9,000 people and 178 exhibitors attended the last year show.

The Paolo Scanu-designed Sunrise 45 yacht is an ocean-going cruising yacht that was released in 2009 to much acclaim at this was the group’s first-ever model.

Sunrise Yachts was founded in 2007 by the German entrepreneur Herbert P Baum along with the French-British yacht builder Guillaume Roché. The luxury yacht group is based in Antalya, Turkey and utilises a 10,000sq m shipyard facility. Sunrise has two sheds measuring 100m (328ft) x 16m (53ft), as well as a 70m (230ft) x 16m (53ft) fully acclimatized paint shed that can accommodate new-build and refit projects up to 65m (213ft) in length and 1,200 tonnes displacement.

Along each side of the yacht-building facility, space is available for long-term sub-contractors with the latest equipment and logistics capabilities, along with air-conditioned storage, ventilation and extraction plants. The shipyard is organized as an “assembler,” based loosely on the car industry’s model, with a small, yet powerful project management team charged with running all the in-house long-term sub-contractors.
