Royal Yacht

There is nothing more magical than an evening cruise along the Abu Dhabi Corniche, with the spectacular skyline becoming even more special as the sun sets and the buildings start to twinkle in the dusk light. Royal Yacht offers a variety of dinner cruises, with the 120-person Royal Yacht Restaurant taking dining to the sea.

The company specialises in private dinner cruises, school events, company events, birthday parties and more, making this is a great choice for a celebration in the city.

Open daily from 10am until 2am, Royal Yacht specialises in Mexican, Italian, Spanish and Arabic food.

There are evening dinner cruises on Wednesday and Thursday from 7pm to 9pm, as well as a Friday lunch cruise from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

About Chef Ross Shonhan

Ross Shonhan, hailing from Australia, has a rich culinary background, including holding esteemed positions such as Executive Chef at Nobu Dallas and Zuma London. He founded Bone Daddies, Flesh & Buns and Shack-Fuyu in London, and his latest venture, Netsu in Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, reflects his deep expertise in Japanese cuisine.

Ross is known for creating unique menus that blend fresh ingredients with his love for cooking, showcased in his diverse ventures and his commitment to culinary sustainability.

Dining Space

Arrival at Strawfire is through the Tsumiko Lounge, an immersive space designed to reflect harvest time during a full moon. The main dining room opens to reveal the feature grill centre stage, and soft golden drapery across ceilings symbolise the dancing flames. The restaurant’s interior design, artisan Kumiko panels and furnishings will transport you into a world of Warayaki dining.

The Toyama private dining room exemplifies Japanese artistry and craftsmanship. Accommodating up to 18 guests, it boasts a dramatic centrepiece: a 7.3-meter, 830-kilogram sacred Shimenawa rope -- the largest ever produced.

Handcrafted by Nawawaseya in Toyama, Japan, this rare traditional rope made of rice straw symbolises sanctity and purity while warding off bad luck, ensuring durability and cleanliness while honouring Shinto traditions.

From the days depicting Kyoto as the capital of Japan to scenes of farming and rural life during the Edo and Meiji periods, the hand-painted silk wall and ceiling covering will tell a story that’ll take you back in time – encouraging conversations amongst guests and contemplation between servings. It pays homage to some of Japan's most renowned artistic treasures, such as the gold leaf-embellished 17th Century masterpiece ‘In and Around the Capital’, as well as works by celebrated artists including Utagawa Hiroshige and Katsushika Hokusai.

Under the Shimenawa is a solid plank with a live edge, creating a juxtaposition between the perfect symmetry of the space and the natural beauty of the dining table material. A handwoven tip sheer, cut and loop pile carpet with silk accents in a spectrum of greens and gold delineates Japanese rice fields and hillside farms.
