Cantieri di Pisa became famous during the 1960s for a line of yachts named after the stars of the Eridanus constellation. The Italian yard is now paying homage to another ball of gas with a new series of superyachts.

“The new line features different types of boats and materials compared to the brand’s past production, but with immediately recognizable lines that tap into its traditional values,” Luxardo said in a statement.

This first model, the Polaris 48, measures 157 feet from bow to stern and has a beam of roughly 29 feet. The inaugural voyager offers the range of an explorer but showcases the versatile exteriors and sophisticated interiors of a superyacht , according to Luxardo. The designer adds that the liveability of the upper and main decks is a major drawcard.

Designed by Parisotto + Formenton, the light-filled interiors are decked out in various subtle shades of brown and white. Paying tribute to the yard’s old Akhir line , the Milanese firm outfitted the living quarters with classic materials such as pickled teak, carbon fiber, bronze, glass, and brass. The color palette and furnishings create a nautical aesthetic, while the extensive glazing ensures natural light and prime views.

In terms of layout, the main deck features a lounge of roughly 540 square feet, the owner’s suite, and a VIP stateroom. To the aft, a giant outdoor deck of more than 1,600 square feet is fitted with two large interconnecting terraces that create a seamless connection to the sea and a striking Jacuzzi that overlooks the stern. The aft deck can also hold three tenders or a rescue boat and two Jet Skis if needed. The gunwale opens out to make it easier to haul up the tender, too.

Powered by two 1,650 hp V-12 MAN engines, the Polaris 48 has a top speed of 16 knots and a range of around 4,000 miles at 10 knots. The Eco High Power Hull (EHPH) hull is meant to reduce fuel consumption, but the yard is also looking at hybrid propulsion to further lower emissions.

The Polaris 48 will be followed by Polaris 38 and Super Polaris 60. Stay tuned.

Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Ancona on Italy’s Adriatic Coast, Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) has established itself as a premier shipyard specializing in constructing long-range luxury explorer yachts. With a focus on semi-custom and custom designs ranging from 26 to 45 meters in length, CdM has garnered international acclaim for its exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to creating vessels embodying the spirit of exploration.

A Decade of Excellence: History of Cantiere delle Marche

Founded in 2010 by a group of veteran shipbuilders, for the first eight years of its existence, CdM focused on two exceptional product lines, the traditional explorer Darwin Class yachts and the contemporary Nauta Air line (now discontinued). The remarkable success of these lines propelled CdM to be listed among Boat International’s top 20 boat builders in 2018.

Expanding Horizons: New Lines and Custom Projects

In 2020, CdM introduced a rugged new line, the Flexplorer series, with the launch of Aurelia, Flexplorer 130. This 40-meter vessel combines yacht styling and accommodation with the capability of a shadow vessel. This series allows owners to explore remote destinations while carrying a significant tender. The Flexplorer line has since expanded, with three Flexplorer 146 currently in build.

In addition to its semi-custom offerings, CdM excels in custom projects. Notable among them is Project K42 Audace, CdM’s first all-custom explorer yacht, boasting a length overall (LOA) of 42.8 meters and a registered tonnage of 450 GT. This impressive vessel, developed in collaboration with Floating Life, was launched in January 2019. Another noteworthy custom project is the 42-meter explorer Crowbridge, designed by Tommaso Spadolini, featuring naval architecture and engineering by Hydro Tec. In 2022 CdM launched Acala, a 42m custom project by Horacio Bozzo complemented by interiors designed by Simon Hamui, which won the World Superyacht Award 2023. Two custom yachts are currently under construction at CdM’s Ancona facility, a 45-meter by Giorgio M. Cassetta and EXP43 by Paszkowski.

Celebrating Milestones: Notable CdM Superyachts and Award Winners

CdM has marked several significant milestones throughout its journey. In 2013, the Darwin Class 96 Stella di Mare (now Lyubov’P) made a captivating debut. This rugged explorer yacht, measuring 29.5 meters, features a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, with twin MTU 8V M72 diesel engines that provide an impressive range of 5,900 nautical miles at 10 knots.

The launch of the Nauta Air 86 YOLO (now Rosey) in June 2014 marked the beginning of the Nauta Air series. Mario Pedol and Massimo Gino of Nauta Design designed this 27.15-meter aluminum yacht accommodates ten guests in four staterooms and four crew members in two cabins. With a range of 3,200 nautical miles at 9 knots, the Nauta Air 86 YOLO set the foundation for the subsequent expansion of the line, including the 90-foot Noga (now Icon) and the benchmark 111-foot Hyhmä, which completed a voyage through the Northwest Passage.

CdM’s first project exceeding 100 feet in length was the Darwin Class 107, delivered in July 2015, boasting an impressive 300 GT rating. Following this achievement, the shipyard unveiled the Darwin Class Narvalo, a 108-foot explorer yacht, in 2016, which received a special award for Quality & Value at the 2017 World Superyacht Awards. Another notable vessel, the Nauta Air 110 Mimi la Sardine, delivered in 2018, received accolades at both Boat International’s Design Awards and the World Superyacht Awards, further solidifying CdM’s reputation for excellence.

Pioneering the Future: CdM’s Unwavering Leadership

As CdM celebrated its first decade of business in 2021, the shipyard’s semi-custom lines have coalesced around the Darwin Class model platforms at 92, 102 and 112 feet, the Flexplorer at 130 and 146 feet, and the RJ series based on platforms at 115 and 130 feet. Alongside these established lines, CdM remains committed to crafting bespoke yachts that cater to their discerning clients’ unique visions and desires.

BALISTA is in the top 30% by LOA in the world. She is one of 518 motor yachts in the 45-50m size range, and, compared to similarly sized motor yachts, her cruising speed is 7.02 kn above the average, her top speed 5.75 kn above the average, and her volume 3.62 GT above the average.

BALISTA is currently sailing under the Jamaica flag, the 7th most popular flag state for superyachts with a total of 229 yachts registered. Tabella di marcia serratissima in questi giorni per il Cantiere Nautico Cranchi SpA di Piantedo , eccellenza della nautica italiana che per la stagione nautica 2024-2025 è presente ai grandi Saloni nautici internazionali di settembre a Cannes, Genova, Monaco e Friedrichshafen.

Due le anteprime mondiali di nuovi modelli presentati in questi giorni a Cannes 2024: il “Sessantasette 67 Corda” e il “Sessantadue 62”.

Paola Cranchi, head of communications, sottolinea che Cranchi Yachts è un brand italiano solido che da sempre è sinonimo di eccellenza tecnologica nel mondo della nautica e prosegue la sua attività in modo indipendente dal 1970. «Gli Yachts Cranchi – afferma - sono il risultato di un processo produttivo altamente industrializzato e tutti quanti sono un punto di riferimento nelle rispettive categorie: flybridge, Hard Top, Corsa, Luxury Tender, sportcruiser e daycruiser».

L’imprenditrice ricorda che «la strategia della società di famiglia è sempre stata quella di continuare ad investire per crescere come fatto nelle stagioni passate e siamo molto determinati ad aumentare i nostri fatturati». Nel valutare l’andamento del mercato di settore Cranchi afferma che l’azienda sta «andando ben e, ma è meglio dirlo sottovoce ed attendiamo la fine del mese di settembre, quando tutti i Saloni si chiuderanno, per analizzare la situazione reale in merito all’andamento dei nostri mercati. A quel punto sapremo come sta effettivamente andando il mercato». Per la stagione 2024-2025 la scelta per l’azienda che oggi conta circa 200 dipendenti è quella di consolidare i fatturati (circa 90 milioni di euro) raggiunti in precedenza e ciò perché «abbiamo bisogno di manodopera, con relativi profili indicati nel nostro sito alla sezione “lavora con noi”. Manodopera alla quale dovremo poi trasferire le competenze tecniche per costruire le imbarcazioni e quindi questo non ci ha permette al momento di incremento del nostro fatturato.

Gli investimenti continui in ricerca e innovazione hanno permesso all’azienda straordinari rinnovamenti di gamma e ciò, aggiunge Cranchi, «ci ha permesso negli anni, di confermare e innalzare ulteriormente gli standard di sicurezza, comfort, qualità e design che hanno permesso ai nostri yacht di distinguersi nel mondo».

In tale ottica ha preso il via sette anni fa la collaborazione con Christian Grande, nome di punta dello yacht design internazionale, «una partnership che ha regalato agli appassionati di nautica e alla nostra rete di vendita dei modelli senza tempo: nuovi nelle linee, nei layout, nel decor e nel design. Una collaborazione da cui sono nati, oltre alle due anteprime citate, E 26 Classic & E 26 Rider, Cranchi Settantotto 78 e Cranchi Sessantasette 67.

Nel corso degli ultimi anni – conclude Cranchi - abbiamo inoltre aumentato il nostro pacchetto di servizi alla clientela inserendo nella nostra offerta anche un centro refitting già funzionante, ora al secondo anno, nel Tirreno. Siamo nel Golfo di Olbia ed offriamo un pacchetto di servizi per la cura dell’imbarcazione oltre al rimessaggio invernale, in aggiunta ad altri servizi a firma Cranchi. L’eccellenza insieme al rinnovamento hanno creato futuro per questa azienda. Un mix perfetto per riuscire ad attrarre nuovi mercati e nuovi clienti. Insieme a design e tecnologia, anno dopo anno – conclude l’imprenditrice - abbiamo riconquistato quote di mercato che erano poco attive e abbiamo creato nuovi mercati».
