20. Lionheart – $150 Million

Sir Philip Green kicks off the list with his 207-foot behemoth, Lionheart.

The British retail billionaire commissioned Italian shipbuilding company, Benetti, to build his superyacht.

The boat has six VIP rooms, several private balconies and was finished in 2016.

Lionheart has had many famous faces walking its decks, including Kate Moss , Simon Cowell and Cristiano Ronaldo .

19. Aviva – $150 Million

British billionaire Joe Lewis’s superyacht comes in at number nineteen at a cool $150 million.

His boat has a full-size tennis court and is thought to house some of his most precious and expensive art pieces, including Picasso.

When he’s not spending time in his Bahamas residence, Joe spends several months a year aboard Aviva and his other three superyachts.

18. Solandge – $180 Million

Next up, we have the $180 million dollar superyacht built by Lurssen. 

In 2017, the Solandge was the highest brokerage and is available to rent for around $1.1 million a week.

The 280-foot yacht has eight VIP suites, a grand piano and a glass art installation by Murano.

17. Ecstasea – $200 Million

Built by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich in 2004, Ecstasea was the largest Feadship ever built.

The yacht is made of steel and is approximately 85.95 metres long and has a beam of 11.50 metres. This means it has a deadweight of 585 metric tons!

Ecstasea comfortably sleeps 14 passengers and has won multiple design awards for its stunning interior.

16. The Rising Sun – $200 Million

The Rising Sun was designed by Jon Bannenberg and built by Lürssen in 2004 for Larry Ellison .

It has 82 rooms over five floors, a basketball court, wine cellar and a movie theatre.

From 2010 it has been owned by David Geffen and is the 12th largest superyacht in the world, measuring 138 metres.

The Rising Sun cost $200 million to build and has since had even more money spent on luxury fixtures and fittings.

15. Octopus – $200 Million 

Designed and built in 2003 for Microsoft Co-founder, Paul Allen, Octopus has one hell of a lavish interior.

It has a large study, basketball court, recording studio, an outside bar with a whirlpool and a glass bottom swimming pool.

Octopus sleeps up to 26 guests and 56 crew members at any one time and comes equipped with two submarines and two helipads. 

14. Lady Moura – $210 Million

The next most expensive superyacht in the world is Lady Moura.

Lady Moura is owned by Saudi Arabian businessman Nasser Al-Rashid, who’s also an advisor to the Saudi Royal family.

The yacht comes with some very impressive features, such as a pool with a retractable roof, a helicopter and 24 karat gold lettering and embellishments throughout.

If that wasn’t enough, Lady Moura also features a unique sand-covered hydraulic platform that comes out of one side, to give guests a beach-like experience in the middle of the ocean.

13. Al Mirqab – $250 Million 

Al Mirqab is owned by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al-Thani, the former Prime Minister of Qatar.

The yacht has 10 bedrooms, a helipad, a swimming pool, a selection of VIP suites, an onboard cinema, jacuzzi and a variety of watersports equipment.

After it was completed in 2008, it was dubbed the second most beautiful yacht in the world.

It can accommodate up to 24 guests and comfortably house crew members in its 55 crew cabins.

12. Dilbar – $256 Million

Number twelve is Russian owned superyacht, Dilbar.

It belongs to Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, and he’s often seen using Dilbar to cruise around his private islands.

As well as being one of the most expensive yachts in the world, it’s also one of the largest – measuring a colossal 360ft in length and just over 50ft high.

It was built in 2008 by Lürssen Yachts and was named after Alisher’s mother.

Dilbar has one helipad, several swimming pools and accommodates 20 guests and 48 cabin crew.

11. Pelorus – $300 Million

Pelorus was built by Lürssen in 2003 and bought by Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich in 2004.

Since then, Pelorus has changed hands a few times and is now owned by HongKong based billionaire, Samuel Tak Lee.

Pelorus is 115 meters long and weighs a staggering 5517 tonnes.

As well as all the normal luxuries you’d expect to find onboard a superyacht of this calibre, she also comes equipped with two helipads, landing boats and jet skis.

She accommodates a full-time crew of 46, year round.

10. Serene – $300 Million

The tenth most expensive yacht in the world is the 439-foot, Serene.

Built-in 2011 by Fincantieri, for Russian billionaire Yuri Scheffler, Serene is has been one of the favourite rental yachts for the mega-rich, reportedly costing celebrities like Bill Gates around million a week!

It was purchased in 2015 by Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and sleeps around 24 guests and 52 crew members.

It comes with multiple swimming pools, two helipads, a submarine, and an amazing underwater viewing room!

9. Al Said – $300 Million

The next mega yacht on the list is owned by and named after the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos Bin Said Al Said.

Built between 2007-2008, little else is known about the Al Said, other than it has a large concert hall that’s big enough to house a 50-piece orchestra.

Also, it can host up to 70 guests, sleep a crew of 154 and reach around 22 knots!

8. Radiant – $320 Million

Built by Lürssen in 2009, Radiant is owned by Emirate Billionaire Abdulla Al Futtaim.

The superyacht is roughly 110 meters long, weighs approximately 5027 gross tons and sleeps up to 20 guests and 44 crew members.

She comes with multiple swimming pools, a helipad, a massage room, a swimming platform, a movie theatre, a gym and a jacuzzi.

The Radiant is also equipped with a highly powerful water cannon to defend herself from pirate attacks!

7. Dubai – $400 Million

Dubai is owned by the Sheik of Dubai, Mohammed Rashid al-Maktoum.

Some of its features include jacuzzis, a swimming pool with handmade tiles, a helipad and a striking circular glass staircase which changes colour when lit from above.

Dubai also houses a split-level owner’s deck, several VIP and social areas, guest suites and a crew of up to 115 people.

6. Motor Yacht A – $440 Million 

This very impressive looking 390-foot superyacht was built by Blohm + Voss shipyard and launched in 2008.

It’s thought to be owned by Andrey Melnichenko, a Russian billionaire businessman and philanthropist.

Motor Yacht A can accommodate 14 guests and 42 crew members and is around 400 feet long.

It features a 2,500 sqft master bedroom, a disco, a helicopter hanger, a separate 30-foot speedboat and a glass-bottomed swimming pool.

5. Topaz – $527 Million

Coming in at number five is this stunning Lürssen built superyacht, Topaz.

She was built for Abu Dhabi tycoon, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Germany and launched in 2012.

The exterior was designed by Tim Heywood and Terrance Disdale Design did the interior.

It has a large jacuzzi on the main deck, a swimming pool, double helicopter landing pads and a state-of-the-art gym, cinema and conference room.

4. Azzam – $600 Million

This 590-foot megayacht is the world’s largest yacht to date.

Its owned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nayan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi.

Lürssen Yachts are the ones behind this mega build. Azzam has its very own missile defence system, a bullet-proof master suite and can reach speeds of more than 30 knots, or 35mph, making it one of the fastest yachts on the planet!

3. Streets of Monaco – $1 Billion

The first billion-dollar yacht on our list is the “Streets of Monaco”.

By far one of the most impressive and expensive yachts in the world, once finished, the Streets of Monaco is going to be a 509-foot mega yacht, designed to feature miniature versions of some of Monaco’s and Monte Carlos most renowned landmarks.

The finished superyacht will include a go-kart circuit, three swimming pools, a mini-submarine a helipad, seven guest suites, a mini waterfall and a restaurant that with a fabulous underwater view.

2. Eclipse – $1.5 Billion 

The second most expensive yacht in the world, Eclipse, is owned by Roman Abramovich.

The Russian billionaire has spared no expense when it comes to his superyacht.

He’s installed a private defence system, including missile detection sensors, intruder alarms and armour plating and bulletproof windows in his master bedroom. 

On top of that, Eclipse has two helipads, two swimming pools, 24 guest bedrooms, a disco hall and a mini-submarine.

It’s unclear how much Eclipse actually cost, but it is believed to be in the region of $1.5 billion!

1. History Supreme – $4.8 Billion

Topping the list of the most expensive superyachts in the world at an eye-watering $4.8 billion is History Supreme.

This magnificent accomplishment is built from 10,000 kilograms of solid gold and platinum and is 100-foot long.

It was designed by Stuart Huges, a world-renowned luxury designer, for Malaysia’s richest man, Robert Knok. The History Supreme took roughly three years to build and features an array of luxury items.

The master bedroom includes a genuine Tyrannosaurus Rex bone statue and a wall made entirely of meteorite rocks!

If that wasn’t enough, the master suite also has a 24-carat gold Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium.

Whether you’re drinking it neat or mixing it into a margarita, you probably have a favorite brand that you know tastes great.

However, some brands can get incredibly expensive, and it is these tequilas that we are counting down today.

How did we select this list of tequilas?

We’ve put over 10 hours of research into re-writing and updating this list for 2024.

The tequilas on this list were selected by taking the current average sale price, at the time of writing.

Prices for rare tequila can vary depending on where they’re listed for sale; so for each tequila on this list, we checked the price across multiple websites and settled on the average.

Next comes the question, when does tequila stop being tequila, and start being artwork?

If you’re a fan of tequila you can probably think of at least one brand that treats their bottles as artwork.

These bottles can often be worth thousands, but is it all just similar tequila in a fancy and unique bottle?

We’ve decided we’re not going to be the judge of what’s tequila and what’s artwork, so what you see on this list reflects a true order, based on price per bottle.

Tequila is a very versatile liquor and there is no shortage of varieties you can find at your local store.

That said, some of these tequilas are reserved for only the most wealthy buyers, and you certainly won’t want to drink them on a casual night out.

Without further ado, here’s our list of the 20 most expensive tequilas money can buy:

20. 1800 Coleccion Tequila

Price/Bottle: $2,000

This unique expensive tequila gets its name from the year that distillers started using oak barrels for aging, and it is owned by the insanely wealthy Beckmann family.

Distilled twice during its 10-year aging process, this tequila has a flavor reminiscent of Amaretto, but with a bolder kick that reminds you that it’s tequila.

For $2,000, this tequila comes in its own crystal decanter trimmed with pewter and securely placed in a lavish case lined with suede to protect its precious contents.

It doesn’t get much more high-end than that!

19. Barrique de Ponciano Porfidio

Price/Bottle: $2,200

Made from 100% agave, Barrique de Ponciano Porfidio is a luxury tequila that has been aged for 10 years in French oak barrels and it is limited to special batches of only 2,000 bottles per year.

While its purity does impact this tequila’s price, the bottle that it comes in also makes it more expensive.

Each bottle comes with lettering and images engraved with one of the most expensive precious metals in the world, 21-karat gold.

It definitely looks and tastes every bit worth its hefty price tag.

18. Clase Azul Extra Añejo Ultra

Price/Bottle: $2,500

The first Clase Azul product to appear on this list is the only one in regular production and not a limited edition.

Clase Azul’s extra anejo ultra is aged for 5 years in American whiskey and sherry casks.

The bottle is decorated in platinum, silver, and 24-karat gold.

You can expect to pay around $2,500 a bottle for this tequila.

17. AsomBroso Reserva del Porto Extra Anejo

Price/Bottle: $2800

This brandy-like tequila is the type of drink that you break out during life’s greatest milestones.

Aged for 10 years in port wine barrels from Portugal, it is mixed with a small portion of white oak-aged tequila before being bottled.

Stored in a bottle shaped like a historical decanter found in an eighteenth-century Portuguese castle, it even comes secured in its own cedar humidor.

Although this tequila usually costs $2,800, you can sometimes get lucky and find it on sale for $1,499, which is honestly a great price, all things considered.

16. AsomBroso The Collaboration 12 Year Extra Anejo

Price/Bottle: $3,000

AsomBroso’s The Collaboration is an extra anejo tequila, aged 12 years in Silver Oak Cellar’s American casks.

The tequila is bottled inside a crystal decanter hand-made by Luciano Gambaro, a famous Italian artist.

The decanter is then packaged in a custom-polished humidor with laser engraving.

A single bottle might set you back $3,000, but there are places where you might be able to get your hands on one for cheaper.

15. Tesla Tequila Limited Edition Anejo

Price/Bottle: $4,000

It does seem that Elon Musk can do no wrong. 

Tesla Tequila started as an April Fool’s joke but quickly became a physical product that sold out immediately.

For the limited edition variant, only 420 bottles were produced, a number that jokingly references a time when Musk said he was going to take Tesla private at $420 a share.

The numbered limited edition variant with matching shot glass is currently selling for around $4,000, whilst the regular variant can fetch up to $1,500.

14. Codigo 1530 14 Year Extra Anejo

Price/Bottle: $4,500

Codigo’s 1530 extra Añejo has been aged inside French White Oak Napa Valley Cabernet wine barrels for 14 years and then finished in French Cognac casks.

This is Codigo’s most expensive tequila they’ve ever produced.

A single bottle is now worth $4,500.

13. Clase Azul Pink Limited Edition Reposado

Price/Bottle: $6,000

This isn’t the first Clase Azul tequila featured on this list, and it definitely won’t be the last.

The ‘Pink’ limited edition reposado was originally released in 2016 for breast cancer awareness, with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to charity.

Just 3000 bottles of the original 2016 version were produced, featuring a white bottle hand-painted with pink artwork.

There have since been one or two other ‘Pink’ breast cancer awareness releases from Clase Azul.

12. Patron Limited Edition En Lalique Serie 3

Price/Bottle: $7,500

Patron’s En Lalique Serie line the creme de la creme of their tequila. 

Whatever we have here is the Serie 3, their latest release, but it’s the least expensive of the three.

The Serie 3 contains a blend of 14 different extra anejo tequilas, aged in 6 different barrel types.

Held in a crystal hand-carved decanter, with decoration inspired by the Weber Blue Agave.

The decanter is stored inside a luxurious wooden box.

Each decanter is numbered, and given the fact that this is Patron’s latest release, you can expect the Serie 3’s price to rise over the next few years.

11. Patron Limited Edition En Lalique Serie 1 Extra Anejo

Price/Bottle: $8000

Patron’s En Lalique Serie 1 uses some of their oldest tequila, presented in a hand-made decanter inspired by Mexico’s Weber Blue Agave plant, topped off with an amber stopper.

Although this bottle cost $8,000, it’s not their most expensive tequila. 

Patron went one step further for their next tequila, but more on that shortly.

10. Dos Armadillos Extra Anejo Sterling Silver

Price/Bottle: $10,000

The Dos Armadillos Extra Anejo uses only an 8-year mature Blue Weber Agave.

The tequila is bottled in their signature armadillo-armored bottle, however, the armor for this edition is made entirely out of sterling silver.

$10,000 is the current price to pick up one of these bottles, a number that’s far more expensive than any other product in their range.

9. Clase Azul Puebla Limited Edition

The Clase Azul Puebla limited edition tequila was released on the 5th of May 2021, to commemorate Cinco de Mayo, or the Battle of Puebla.

Cinco de Mayo is a yearly celebration held on the 5th of May to celebrate Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire in 1862.

Just 300 bottles were produced and sold with a price tag of $400.

If you wished to purchase a bottle of Puebla Limited Edition today, the price would be more along the lines of $10,000.

8. Clase Azul Dia de Muertos Limited Edition

The Dia de Los Muertos collection from Clase Azul features several individual releases, but with most of them fetching similar prices, we’ve decided to include them in one single entry.

Dia de Muertos, or ‘The Day of the Dead’ as it’s otherwise known, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated during November. 

Clase Azul has released a new edition within the Dia de Muertos line annually for the past several years.

Some of the bottle designs for the Dia de Muertos range are spectacular and tend to rise in value once they are no longer produced.

7. Patron Limited Edition En Lalique Serie 2 Extra Anejo

Price/Bottle: $10,500

Patron’s En Lalique Serie 2 is aged and made slowly in small batches to ensure perfect quality.

The bottle is carved crystal, featuring a crystal bee stopper with hand-painted gold accents.

It’s then placed inside a wooden box that spins to open, creating a rather luxurious effect.

We’ve seen prices ranging from $8,000 to $12,000 for this bottle, so if you’re patient you might be able to get it at a good price.

6. Clase Azul Master Artisans

Price/Bottle: $20,000

Clase Azul’s most popular and iconic tequila is their resposado tequila, housed in a blue and white bottle.

In 2021, the brand collaborated with the award-winning artist, Ángel Santos to create a hand-crafted, limited edition resposado.

The ‘Master Artisans’ line aims to highlight the work of Mexico’s most talented artists.

The Ángel Santos edition, which at launch sold for $5,000 a bottle , can now reach up to $20,000.

5. Clase Azul Jalisco 200 Limited Edition

Price/Bottle: $25,000

The Clase Azul Jalisco is an extra anejo tequila, named after Jalisco, a state in Mexico.

As the name might also suggest, only 200 bottles of this limited-edition tequila were distilled.

The tequila comes packaged inside a custom-built wooden box, which opens to reveal a drinking glass on either side.

With just 200 bottles released, getting your hands on one of these bottles isn’t cheap.

4. Clase Azul 15th Anniversary Edition

Price/bottle: $30,000.

The Clase Azul celebrated its 15th anniversary by releasing 15 limited edition bottles priced at $30,000 each.

Each of the unique bottles was handcrafted to convey the story of Mexico and all proceeds from the sale of these bottles were donated to the Fundacion con Causa Azul A.C, which supports the work of craftsmen and artisans in Mexico.

Although this tequila is no longer available for sale, we imagine that Clase Azul will release another special edition for a future anniversary, so if you want to grab a bottle, be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

3. Jose Cuervo 250 Aniversario The Rolling Stones Special Edition

Price/Bottle: $75,000

Jose Cuervo was the very first legal tequila company to be established, with the company’s history dating back to 1795 .

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Case Cuervo, Jose Cuervo released the 250 Anniversario tequila.

They also released a limited edition of the tequila, in collaboration with the Rolling Stones rock band.

The Jose Cuervo brand played a leading role in the Rolling Stones’ 1972 North American tour, ‘Tequila Sunrise’.

For the Rolling Stones special edition, the tequila bottle is embossed with the famous ‘Hot Lips’ logo in 14-carat gold, and spikes along the sides.

It also comes packaged in a leather guitar-shaped case, including seven shot glasses.

The tequila was initially released with a price tag of just $4,000, but prices have skyrocketed to almost $75,000 since then.

2. Tequila Ley .925 Ultra-Premium

Price/Bottle: $225,000

In 2006, the artists at Tequila Ley designed three unique bottles to contain the tequila designed by Mexican artist Alejandro Gomez.

Each bottle was only created 33 times, for a total of 99 bottles, each more expensive than the last.

While this tequila in a glass bottle retails for $3,500, the gold and silver bottle goes for $25,000, and the gold and platinum for $150,000.

The most expensive of all was the white gold and platinum, which carried the insane price tag of $225,000!

Although the tequila itself is delectable, the real stars are the bottles that collectors and tequila enthusiasts scrambled to try and grab while they lasted.

1. Tequila Ley .925 Diamante

Price/Bottle: $3.5 Million

Recorded as the most expensive tequila ever sold by a mile, the .925 Diamante is a true work of art.

The Ley .925 Diamante tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber agave, which is grown in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.

The tequila is then aged for 7 years inside French Oak barrels before being poured into a platinum and white gold version of Tequila Ley’s signature-shaped bottle.

However, none of these things truly account for the Diamante’s insane price tag.

As the name might suggest, the bottle is encrusted with 4000 diamonds, amounting to a total of 18.5 carats.

Now that we’ve come to the end of the list, you might have noticed a common theme.

Clase Azul had the most entries on this list, holding seven positions in the top 20.

This is largely due to the fact they treat their bottles as artwork, often showcasing hand-painted art in limited edition releases.

That’s not to take away from their tequila, but to say that their unique approach is very popular among collectors and tequila enthusiasts alike.

They’re associated with luxury and wealth more than ever before, and cigar aficionados are constantly looking for rare and exclusive cigars to add to their collections.

This begs the question: how expensive can cigars be, and how difficult could it be to get your hands on the rarest of the rare?

Today we’re bringing you our updated list of the most expensive cigars in the world.

How did we select this list of cigars?

One of the issues with many expensive cigar lists on the internet, including the original version of our own, is how the cigar values are calculated.

For instance, there was once an auction for a very rare box of cigars that sold for more than half a million dollars, but the box consisted of almost 800 cigars. More details on that are below.

We’ve decided to thoroughly calculate the price/stick for each of the entries on this list, so you can have a clearer understanding of exactly which cigars are the most expensive in the world.

Whilst it may be difficult to obtain some of these cigars individually, assuming you’d want to obtain them of course, we think this is the best way of ranking the list.

Another thing we decided to take into account is limited edition releases which are packaged in custom humidors instead of regular boxes.

These humidors can often cost thousands of dollars alone, and end up distorting the price of the cigar.

Can people still buy these cigars?

Most of the cigars featured on this list can still be bought and smoked to this day. 

Many of them are limited edition lines and are likely harder to find than most cigars.

Limited edition productions can often limit the total number of cigars produced, and as time passes the number of those remaining drops.

A lot of rare cigar releases also use aged tobacco leaves, and you’ll see several brands on this list that age their tobacco for at least 10 years before the cigar is rolled.

Brand recognition also plays a part as particular brands such as Cohiba are always sought after.

Finally, if none of the above results in a cigar being expensive, there are a select few who will cover cigars in gold leaf, and diamonds, and infuse them with expensive cognac.

But more on that later.

We’ve done countless hours of research to ensure that our updated version of this list is the best resource available.

Without further ado, let’s get into this list of the 25 most expensive cigars in the world:

25. El Septimo The Zaya Collection (Mirifico Sapphire)

Price/Stick: $100

The Zaya Collection, produced by El Septimo, contains 8 different varieties of cigars.

Each variety contains five different filler tobaccos, with the tobacco leaves aged up to 15 years.

Typically, each cigar features are larger ring gauge of around 60, due to the variety of filler leaves used.

Whilst the cigars within this collection have very different flavor profiles from one another, the prices/stick are relatively similar.

At the time of researching this article, we’ve included the variety selling for the most, which is Mirifico Sapphire, at $100/stick.

24. Arturo Fuente Opus X 20th Anniversary

Price/Stick: $115

Arturo Fuente has long been known for their high-quality cigars, and their Opus X range contains some of the most sought-after cigars in the brand’s history.

The Opus X line was created in 1995 and in 2016 Fuente released the ‘Opus X 20th Anniversary’ edition to commemorate 20 years of the Opus X.

The ’20th Anniversary’ line contained four cigars:

• Father & Son
• God’s Whisper
• Power of A Dream

The prices do vary between each variety, however, because the ‘God’s Whisper’ variety comes in a ‘Perfecto’ size it tends to be sold for higher prices than the rest of the line.

23. Cohiba Spectre 2023

Price/Stick: $130

The Spectre line from Cohiba was initially introduced in 2018 and cost $90 per stick.

Separate versions of the Cohiba Spectre have since been released annually, with the most expensive being the Spectre 2023.

The 2023 Spectre is limited to 600 boxes of 10 cigars, featuring a 52 ring gauge and 6 1/2 inches in length.

What’s most interesting about the release is the packaging, which differs somewhat from most cigars, including that of Cohiba.

The cigars are stored in a box that opens vertically, featuring a hydraulic system that elevates the tubed cigars when you press the ‘O’ button inside the Cohiba logo.

22. Davidoff Royal Release Salamones

Price/Stick: $150

To be qualified enough to roll the Royal Release Salamones, Davidoff makes sure you have more than 15 years of experience rolling cigars.

This cigar is only rolled by 8 different people who together have rolled over 7 million cigars.

The Royal Release Salmones takes 10 years to grow from tobacco seed to finished product and is sold in boxes of 10 for $1,500.

21. Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012

Price/Stick: $181

The Epicure No. 2 is one of Hoyo de Monterrey’s signature cigars.

In 2016, Habanos SA announced the release of the No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012.

This blend only uses tobacco leaves from 2012, aged for a minimum of three years.

With just 5000 boxes of 20 cigars produced, this cigar is bound to increase in value with time.

20. Hoyo de Monterrey Double Coronas Gran Reserva Cosecha 2013

Price/Stick: $200

Here we have another Hoyo de Monterrey ‘Reserva’ release, the Double Coronas Gran Reserva Cosecha 2013.

Typically, Gran Reserva lines are more sought after than regular Reserva series, due to the difference in tobacco aging.

Reserva cigar blends use tobacco leaves that are aged for a minimum of three years.

Whereas Gran Reserva blends use tobacco leaves aged for a minimum of 5 years.

Gran Reservas are also produced with only 15 sticks per box, instead of the usual 20.

19. Cohiba Siglo De Oro (Year of the Rabbit)

Price/Stick: $250

In 2023, Cohiba announced the release of the Siglo De Oro, to commemorate both the Chinese ‘Year of the Rabbit’, and also the 30th anniversary of the Siglo series.

Naturally, people across China, Hong Kong, and various other countries in Asia were the first to see these cigars unveiled.

Only 18,888 boxes of the Siglo De Oro will be produced.

That number might sound oddly specific, and it is indeed no coincidence, as the number 8 is lucky in Chinese culture.

The Siglo De Oro is a 54 ring gauge, 4 1/2 inch long cigar, sold in boxes of 18.

  18. H. Upmann Sir Winston Gran Reserva Cosecha 2011

Price/Stick: $260

H. Upmann is one of the oldest cigar brands in the world, with history going all the way back to 1843.

The Sir Winston Gran Reserva Cosecha is of course named after the legendary Sir Winston Churchill , who was known not only for being one of the most important prime ministers in British history; but also for his love of cigars.

The Gran Reserve line was launched by H. Upmann in 2009, and in 2011 the Sir Winston edition was released.

Just 5000 boxes of 15 cigars were produced, for a total of 75,000 cigars.

17. Partagas Serie E No.1 Colección Habanos 2013

Price/stick: $280.

The Serie E No. 1 Colección Habanos 2013 from Partagas appears 18th on our list of the most expensive cigars.

With this particular cigar now being over 10 years old, its price has risen heavily.

You can still find this cigar for sale in the USA for roughly $280 per stick, however, prices do vary.

16. Hoyo De Monterrey Maravillas Collection 2015

Price/stick: $290.

The most expensive Hoyo de Monterrey cigar is the Maravillas Collection 2015.

There were just 2000 boxes of 20 cigars produced, amounting to a total of 40,000 cigars.

Given the smaller production number in comparison to the other Hoyo de Monterrey’s featured on this list, you can expect to pay $290/stick for this cigar.

15. Cohiba Behike Series

Price/Stick $300

Cohiba Behikes are one of the most popular and sought-after cigars in the world.

Behike cigars are known for their full-strength flavor and quality, provided you can get your hands on the authentic product.

They’re sold in three different ring gauges: 52, 54, and 56.

These sizes are represented in their names respectively: Behike 52, Behike 54, and Behike 56.

The Cohiba Behike cigars are sold in 10-count boxes and increase in price depending on their size.

14. Oliva Serie V Roaring Twenties Super Limited Edition

Oliva Cigar Co. are well known for producing cigars that provide a great smoking experience for a great value.

However, in 2023 they decided to do something a little different.

The most popular line of Oliva cigars is the ‘Series V’, and last year they announced a new Series V Roaring Twenties Super Limited Edition.

When we take a look at the average price of an Oliva cigar, we can see a price of around $10, so what’s different?

The packaging is the most notable difference, with the Roaring Twenties SLE cigars being placed in boxes produced by Daniel Marshall.

Half of the cigars (the top layer) are also covered in gold foil.

In addition, there will only ever be 300 boxes created, for a total of 3000 cigars.

13. Trinidad Casilda Coleccion Habanos 2019

Price/stick: $370.

As you may have already noticed, Habanos limited edition collections can become incredibly expensive.

The Trinidad Casilda 2019 is another edition within the Coleccion Habanos with only 3000 boxes being produced.

This cigar once again features the traditional book-shaped box packaging as with any ‘Coleccion Habanos’ release.

Getting your hands on a single stick could cost up to $370.

12. Daniel Marshall 24KT Golden Gigante

Price/Stick: $395

Continuing both the obsession with gold and also the story of Daniel Marshall brings us to the next cigar on our list.

For those who are unaware of Daniel Marshall ; he’s a well-known figure within the cigar industry for his work with manufacturing custom humidors.

In 2011, Marshall decided to create a 24KT gold cigar for his friend’s 64th birthday. 

Marshall then produced a limited run of the cigar which would be packaged in a custom-signed travel humidor.

The 24kt cigar comes in two sizes, Torpedo and Gigante, with the Gigante size being the more expensive of the two.

Its base is that of the DM2 cigar, also sold by Daniel Marshall, which is rolled and sold to him by the Plasencia factory.

Daniel then covers the cigar with a thin layer of gold leaf from Italy.

  11. Montecristo Gran Piramides Limited Edition 2017

Price/Stick: $400 

Montecristo is one of the most popular cigar brands in the world, and one of their most expensive cigars is the Gran Piramides Limited Edition from 2017.

The Gran Piramides are part of the ‘Coleccion Habanos’, which come packaged in a box that’s shaped to look like a book.

At its core, the Gran Piramides are a Montecristo No. 2 that has been increased in size for this limited collection.

This cigar has a length of 6.25 inches and a ring gauge of 57, while Montecristo No. 2’s are a 52 ring gauge, and slightly shorter in length.

Only 2000 boxes of the Gran Piramides 2017 were produced by Habanos SA.

10. Partagas Lusitanias Gran Reserva Cosecha 2007

Price/Stick: $430

Continuing with another Habanos SA-produced cigar, the 2007 Gran Reserva Lusitanias from Partagas is our 11th most expensive cigar.

Just 5000 boxes of 15 cigars were produced, resulting in a total count of 75,000 cigars.

The Gran Reserve Cosecha 2007 can still be found for sale, but given its age, you might have to shell out more than you wish to.

9. Cohiba Talisman Edicion Limitada 2017

Price/Stick: $450

When it was originally released, the Cohiba Talisman EL 2017 cost just $547 for a box of 10.

Since their release, the price has risen rapidly year over year.

The cigars were produced at the world-famous El Laguito factory in Havana, Cuba.

At the time of writing this article, you’d be lucky to find a single stick for under $450.

8. Cohiba 55 Aniversario Edicion Limitada 2021

Price/Stick: $500

While not the most expensive release from Cohiba in the year 2021, the next entry on this list was certainly an important one.

The 55 Anniversario Edicion Limitada 2021 marked the 55th anniversary of Cohiba.

As the name suggests, the cigar was indeed a limited edition, and difficult to get a hold of.

The cigar was released in 10-count boxes, costing roughly $5000/box.

7. Davidoff Oro Blanco

Price/Stick: $600

Davidoff claims that the Oro Blanco is the most exceptional cigar they’ve ever created.

The Oro Blanco is a 6-inch, 54 ring gauge, toro-shaped cigar, with an all-Dominican wrapper, binder, and filler

So why does it cost $600 per cigar?

One of the main reasons for its high cost is due to Davidoff’s aging process.

The Oro Blanco, which translates to “White Gold”, is made with tobacco leaves grown in areas with some of the richest soil across the entire Dominican Republic.

The leaves are then aged for 12 years before the cigar is rolled; a task completed only by Davidoff’s most experienced rollers (15+ years of experience).

After one additional year of aging, the single cigar is then reviewed, approved, and placed into a custom box.

6. Mayan Sicars

Price/stick: $633.

At the beginning of this article, we mentioned a specific auction involving a box of 800 cigars.

In 2012, a large crate of Mayan cigars, expected to be more than 600 years old, was discovered in Guatemala.

It’s important to mention that the most reliable source of this information mentions the sale of all 800 cigars for a total of $507,000, which would put the price/stick at $633.

The cigars were buried deep below the surface in sealed clay pots, and discovered by an archeologist team from Tampa University.

Who paid the $507,000? A man named Gary Liotta, owner of the Santiago Cigar Factory in New York.

5. Gurkha His Majesty’s Reserve

Price/Stick: $750

On the sixth spot, we have Gurkha His Majesty’s Reserve cigar.

It’s made each year, and if you’re a cigar enthusiast, you will need to preorder them a few years beforehand. 

The total size of each cigar is 7-5 x 52 inches. The Connecticut Maduro wrapper comes with a Dominican binder and filler that is aged for 12 years.

The filler is infused with Louis XIII cognac, which gives it an amazing aroma.

This cigar is very rare and special, and the cognac has been known for selling only to dignitaries worldwide. 

A total of 75 boxes are being made every year. The incredible aroma, as well as the taste of the cigar, will be something that you will be so impressed with that you will never forget. 

4. Cohiba Ideales Coleccion 2021

Price/Stick: $1100

As the name suggests, this Cohiba cigar was released in 2021, measuring almost 7 inches in length, with a 56 ring gauge.

The Ideales Coleccion 2021 is limited to just 3000 boxes of 20 cigars, totaling 60,000 sticks.

The box is manufactured to look like a book.

Cohiba’s Ideales Coleccion 2021 is the last cigar to feature on this list that isn’t either covered in gold leaf and crystals or nearly 20 years old.

Which makes it the most expensive plain cigar that can still be purchased today.

3. Gurkha Black Dragon (2006 Edition)

Price/stick: $1,150.

The Gurkha Black Dragon is a cigar that you can still buy and smoke newer versions of to this day, but the original 2006 edition is a rare find.

The OG boxes were handmade using camel bone and were limited to just 5 boxes of 100 cigars.

Those who have smoked the original Black Dragon from 2006, and the newer editions seem to conclude that the taste is more or less the same.

Although the 2006 first edition of the Gurkha Black Dragon cost around $1,150, given how limited it was at the time; the current version of this cigar can be added to your collection for just $40/stick.

2. King of Denmark Cigar

Price/stick: $4,500.

The King of Denmark cigar is produced by Royal Danish and only 30 sticks are rolled per day.

Buyers can customize the cigar with both 24KT gold leaf and Swarovski crystals. 

They’re also able to have their name inscribed on the cigar.

Whilst this cigar doesn’t have to cost you thousands, it can reach up to $4,500/stick depending on the customization.

1. Gurkha Royal Courtesan

Price/Stick: $1.36 Million

The most expensive cigar in the world is the Gurkha Royal Courtesan cigar.

The Royal Courtesan is worth a ridiculous $1.36 million per stick.

One of the most interesting things here is that Gurkha are not known for their quality. 

In fact, Gurkha’s quality control is often a common problem reported by fellow cigar aficionados.

This begs the question: why does this cigar cost so much more money than anything else on the list before it?

Let’s get into the details of the Royal Courtesan:

• The cigar’s filler is infused with Remy Martin’s Louis XIII cognac.
• It’s hand-rolled by a select few skilled rollers, who are blindfolded.
• The band of the cigar is covered in 5-carat diamonds.
• Rare Himalayan tobacco leaves are used for the wrapper.
• The wrapper is also covered in a layer of 24KT gold leaf.
• Personal delivery to the owner by a messenger

Notable Mentions

That concludes our main list of the 25 most expensive cigars in the world.

There are, however, a few entries we’d like to mention.

Although these weren’t included in the main list, they’re worth mentioning to any fellow cigar aficionado.

Regius Double Corona Cigar

Price: $52,000.

We decided to leave out the Regius Double Corona from our main list as the cigar itself is not the main reason for the high price.

In 2013, Regius Cigars developed their Double Corona cigar, which is produced in Nicaragua.

However, the main attraction was not actually the cigar itself, but what was included with the purchase.

The buyer of the cigar would be flown first class out to Regius headquarters in Nicaragua, where they would be given a private tour of the factory.

They would also be allowed to create their own cigar blend, and be given 1000 sticks of said blend to take home with them.

Gran Habano #5 El Gigante

Price: $185,000.

Technically this cigar does have a clear price/stick, selling for $185,000 in 2013.

However, it’s probably worth mentioning that the cigar is 19 feet long, 3 feet thick, and weighs over 600 pounds.

Here are some interesting facts about the Gran Habano #5 El Gigante:

• Despite its size, it can be smoked by multiple people at the same time.
• Made with 1,600 pounds of tobacco.
• Equivalent to smoking 25,000 cigars
• Contains 15,000 wrapper leaves
• Has a ring gauge of 1920
• Weighs 2,500 pounds with the wooden case

10. Barbados – $2,061

Kicking off our list of the 10 most expensive countries to live in worldwide, is Barbados. 

Barbados is a sovereign island nation in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, which is the Caribbean region of North America. 

It covers approximately 349km² and is 23 kilometres wide and 34 kilometres long, with a total population of 285,719 people. 

Barbados is the fourth-most densely populated country in the Americas and, it’s capital city, Bridgetown, has approximately 110,000 people living in it. 

To rent a one-bedroom studio apartment in Bridgetown, you’re looking at spending around $500 a month, or $100 a night in an Airbnb. 

A basic meal out will cost you no less than $13. A beer is around $6.50 and coffee is approximately $5.00 depending on where you go. 

9. Japan – $2,612

The ninth most expensive country to live in worldwide is Japan. 

Japan is an archipelago island nation in South-East Asia, made up of 6,852 islands, with a current total population of 126.8 million people. 

Of the 6,582 islands, the four largest islands account for the majority of inhabitants, as roughly 97% Japans population live on the four islands. 

Japan has many major cities, like Osaka, Yokohoma, Nagoya and Sapporo, which are all populated by more than 2 million people. 

However, Tokyo, Japans Capital City and the largest city in Japan, has an approximate population of 37 million people. 

To rent a one-bedroom studio apartment in Tokyo, you’re looking at spending in the region of $1,370 a month, or $111 a night in an Airbnb.

It’s only the 171st most densely populated country on earth, with roughly 14 people for every square kilometre. 

Rent is expensive in Norway’s capital, so renting a one-bedroom studio apartment in Oslo, will set you back around $1,193 a month, or $85 a night in an Airbnb. 

You won’t have much change left from $15 when buying a meal out, and a beer will set you back around $9.11.

7. The Bahamas – $2,704

The next most expensive country in the world to live in is The Bahamas. 

Made up of over 700 islands, the Bahamas has an approximate population of 389,482 million people living across its 13,943km² landmass. 

The largest city in the Bahamas is Nassau, with a total population of 255,000. 

If you’re thinking about visiting the Bahamas, then you should budget approximately $950 a month for a one-bedroom studio apartment in the city, or $149 a night for an Airbnb. 

You’ll need to take at least $50-$100 with you when you go out for a meal and some drinks, as a basic meal costs around $15-$20 and a beer will cost you around $2.50. 

Coffee is a little on the expensive side, at around $5 each. 

6. Luxembourg – $2,751

One of the smallest countries on our list, Luxembourg, is also one of the smallest sovereign nations on the planet, and it won’t leave you with a lot of wiggle room when it comes to your monthly expenses. 

Luxembourg is a landlocked country, located in western Europe, and has an estimated population of 620,319 people. 

Its population is small compared to other countries on the list, however, it has roughly 207 people per square kilometre, making it the 67th most densely populated country on earth. 

When you arrive in Luxembourg City, you can expect to pay around $1,322 per month for a one-bedroom studio apartment, or $80 a night in an Airbnb. 

Luxembourg seems like it’s slightly more expensive than the Bahamas when it comes to luxuries like beer and coffee, as one beer will cost you around $9 and coffee will set you back $6. 

Eating a basic meal out will cost between $17-$25 for one person depending on what you order. 

5. Iceland – $2,802

Coming in at number five on our list of the most expensive countries in the world is Iceland. 

Iceland is located between the North and Atlantic Oceans and has a total surface area of 103,001 square kilometres. 

However, Iceland’s population of 339,949 people, remains relatively low in comparison to others on our list as its harsh geographical landscape proves difficult to live in for many, at times. 

As a result, Iceland has the lowest population density of any European country, at just 3 people per kilometre. 

Staying in Iceland will cost you approximately $1,236 a month for a one-bedroom studio apartment in the capital city of Reykjavik, or $128 a night in an Airbnb.  

Whilst you’re there, eating out will cost you around $12 for a basic meal, $8 for a beer and $2.15 for a cup of coffee. 

4. Denmark – $3,312

The southernmost Nordic country in Northern Europe, Denmark, is the fourth most expensive country to live in worldwide. 

Denmark, bordered by Germany, Sweden and Norway has a total current population of 5.7 million people. 

The Scandinavian countries capital city is Copenhagen, which has an urban population of 1.2 million people, and a metropolitan population of 1.99 million.  

Known as one of the happiest places to live on earth, Copenhagen is also a very expensive city to live in.

For a one-bedroom studio apartment, you’re looking at $1,917 a month, or $96 a night in an Airbnb. 

Eating out will cost you approximately $18 per person and beers and coffee are anyway between $5.50-$6.50 a pop!

3. Switzerland – $3,162

Switzerland is the third most expensive country to live in worldwide. 

With more than 8.6 million people living across, 41,285 square kilometres, Switzerland is the 95th most populated country in the world, and the 135th largest country in terms of the total landmass. 

Switzerland has a number of beautiful cities to live in, like it’s capital, Bern, and it’s the largest city, Zurich. 

Bern has approximately 133,000 people living there and accommodation for a month in Bern, for one person, will cost in the region of $1,366, or $86 a night in an Airbnb. 

A meal out will cost you approximately $15-$20, with an additional beer costing around $6.00 and coffee costing around $5.00 a cup. 

2. Cayman Islands – $3,387

The Cayman Islands is the second most populated British overseas territory in the world, just behind Bermuda.

It is located in the western end of the Caribbean sea and has a total current population of approximately 63,000 people. 

It’s made up of a number of islands like Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac. 

The Cayman Islands are well known for housing offshore companies, and it’s believed that there are over 100,000 companies registered in the Cayman Islands.

One of the Most Expensive Yachts of 2023 Just Sold 

One of the most expensive yacht of 2023 has sold after just 10 weeks on the market. The boat, ARROW, was listed by Fraser for $151 million , and according to representatives, was the second highest yacht sale on record this year, though its exact price was not disclosed. “With luxurious amenities and state-of-the-art technology, ARROW  caters to every indulgence and ensures an unforgettable experience for all guests on board,” reads the superyacht’s listing page . 

A deck offers easy access to the ocean. 

Spanning 246 feet, the massive ship is the size of three tennis courts. ARROW was built by Dutch shipyard Feadship and delivered in 2020. Designed with a steel and aluminium body, the ship is crafted with hybrid technology “enabling the most efficient use of energy with the lowest possible impact.” London-based studio H2 Yacht Design worked on the interior and exterior designs, creating a mix of contemporary lounge and bedroom spaces and opting for a classic nautical style for the decks. Feadship de Voogt was responsible for the naval architecture.

Complete with six staterooms, the ship can accommodate 12 guests and 19 crew. Onboard, yachters will find a collection of luxury amenities including a hot tub, fully equipped gym, and cinema. The beach club, a lounge and swim platform area, is completed with a bar, sauna, massage room, dive store, and toy area. Boasting expansive glass bulwarks, the yacht offers sea views from all sides. 

ARROW was rumored to belong to Michael Platt, an investor and founder of BlueCrest Capital Management. Michael Tabor and Brandon Kummer of Kitson Yachts represented the buyer of the second most expensive yacht of 2023, though they were not disclosed.

Rising Sun, valued at $200 million

Rising Sun superyacht is valued at $200 million and was purchased by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison in 2004, according to Robb Report .

Rising Sun was later purchased again by Geffen Records executive David Geffen in 2010, according to Club Yacht . Geffen also owns another yacht called Pelorus and his yachts have been frequented by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, according to the outlet.

Aviva, valued at $250 million

Aviva, valued at $250 million is 323 feet long and was built in 2017, according to Robb Report . The boat is so large that it has a paddle tennis court that doubles as an indoor soccer field in its interior, according to the outlet.

Andreas Hering, the project manager of the shipyard where the boat was constructed, told Boat International that "in three years" to "build a big yacht around a padel tennis court was the main brief, I guess."

Octopus, valued at $200 million

Octopus, a 414-foot superyacht owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, is valued at $200 million, according to Robb Report.

The boat can accommodate 12 guests in 13 different cabins, according to Yacht Charter Fleet . The boat also has a dance floor and a movie theatre, according to the outlet.

Radiant, valued at $300 million

Radiant, a superyacht built for Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky in 2010, is 360 feet long and worth $300 million, according to Robb Report.

The boat can accommodate up to 20 guests and 44 crew and sports a beauty salon, gym, pool, and jacuzzi, according to the outlet.

Dubai, valued at $400 million

The "Dubai" megayacht, owned by United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is 532 feet long and is worth around $400 million, according to Architectural Digest .

Topaz, valued at $527 million

Topaz was built in Germany for the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to Dubai realtor LuxuryProperty.  

The nearly 500-foot yacht has a helicopter pad, gym, pool, and cinema hall, according to the realtor. Mansour owns Abu Dhabi United Group, which acquired Manchester United FC in 2008. 

Eclipse, valued at $600 million

The 533-foot Eclipse superyacht is valued at $600 million, according to the luxury magazine Robb Report .

The Eclipse is owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, one of 16 yachts and vessels that he owns, according to Forbes .

Azzam, valued at $600 million

Azzam is the largest and one of the fastest yachts in the world, according to Architectural Digest.

The boat took around three years to build and sits at 590 feet long and can travel at a speed of 35 miles per hour, according to the outlet.

Azzam is owned by the family of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was the Second President of the United Arab Emirates before his death in May 2022.

Al Said, valued at $600 million

The 508-foot Al Said sits in the Lürssen shipyard in Germany and was purchased by the former Sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 2008 for $600 million, according to Robb Report.

The yacht can travel up to 25 miles per hour and has a concert hall that can accommodate a 50-person orchestra, according to the outlet.

Dilbar, valued at $735 million

Dilbar, owned by Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, is the largest superyacht in the world and it's valued at $735 million.

In April 2022, the yacht was impounded in Germany . German federal police said they seized the yacht after an investigation into "offshore concealment" and determined that Usmanov's sister is the owner of the yacht. The boat remains at a shipyard in Hamburg, Germany.

The superyacht industry exceeded expectations this year, experiencing an unexpected 8.3 percent increase in total sales over the past 12 months. Despite instances of undisclosed asking prices, like in the recent sale of Aquijo, which is estimated to have reached nine figures, the overall value still rose from €3.6 billion in 2022 to €3.9 billion in 2023.

As we enter the new year, let’s reflect on the most significant and thrilling transactions of 2023, beginning with the record-breaking single most expensive yacht brokerage sale in history…

Length:  115.1m Asking price:  €330,000,000

The superyacht industry witnessed a significant moment as news spread about the sale of Lürssen’s Ahpo in what is believed to be the largest brokerage deal ever recorded. To add to the spectacle, the immense impact of this sale propelled May 2023 into the history books as the single highest-grossing month for brokerage sales. Crafted by Nuvolari Lenard, Ahpo boasts a remarkable profile inspired by high-performance sports cars, featuring tapered decks, a distinctive two-tone color scheme, and iconic half-moon windows. The yacht’s interior continues the theme of nature, evident in the choice of artwork, a central staircase depicting an olive tree, and an aft deck winter garden.

Length:  95m Asking price:  €227,500,000

In collaboration with the German shipyard Lürssen, designers Peder Eidsgaard and Laura Sessa joined forces to create the award-winning Madsummer in 2019. The project catered to an owner in search of both a new yacht and a new plane, resulting in a subtly masculine-looking superyacht. The interior is characterized by a burst of vibrant colors, while a dedicated deck accommodates the owner’s Husky seaplane. Notable features on board include a fully certified helideck at the bow, a 12-meter swimming pool, and accommodations for up to 12 guests in uniquely colored staterooms.

Here Comes the Sun

Length:  89m Asking price:  $195,000,000

This previously listed yacht successfully changed hands in August of this year, achieving a sale within a mere four months on the brokerage market. Originally delivered in 2017, Here Comes the Sun holds the distinction of being Dutch shipbuilder Amels’ largest yacht to date. In 2021, the vessel underwent a comprehensive rebuild, orchestrated by Azure Naval Architects, which included a six-meter stern extension, the addition of a second helipad, and a fresh navy blue and white paint job. Here Comes the Sun earned recognition at the 2022 World Superyacht Awards, receiving a Neptune for Best Rebuilt Yacht, with judges commending its newfound elegance and well-thought-out internal layout.

The Lürssen superyacht Whisper (formerly known as Kismet) swiftly changed hands within a span of just three months through Cecil Wright yacht brokerage, right before its scheduled appearance at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. Originally commissioned by billionaire businessman Shahid Khan, the yacht was envisioned as a “champagne and caviar superyacht” suitable for both family and corporate entertainment. In line with this vision, the esteemed design firm Espen Øino chose a champagne-colored hull and incorporated numerous crowd-pleasing amenities into an art deco interior. Some of the standout design features include a multi-level swimming pool, a Persian-inspired spa, and a Crystal Caviar chandelier weighing an impressive 350kg.

In the same month as Ahpo, the 75-meter Feadship Arrow achieved the second nine-figure sale in May. The distinctive design featuring a sharply raked bow and a sleek, low profile was conceptualized by the London-based studio H2 Yacht Design, which also curated the yacht’s modern and vibrant interior. Arrow incorporates Feadship’s latest hybrid technology, including an advanced waste heat recovery system, contributing to the overall efficiency of the yacht. The accommodations onboard cater to 12 guests across six cabins, with supplementary quarters available for a crew of up to 19.

Length:  68.2m Asking price:  €88,000,000

Sold in March and subsequently renamed Starlust, Abeking & Rasmussen’s Soaring, delivered in 2020, underwent a transformation by Focus Yacht Design. The original owner’s directive to create an exterior that stands out resulted in distinctive features such as scalloped windows, an “eagle-beak” bow, and a striking orange bootstripe complementing the pale grey hull. Starlust is also equipped with two Compass Tenders, each adorned with a recognizable orange band along the bottom to mirror the style of the main yacht.

Length:  60m Asking price:  $82,000,000

Measuring 60 meters in length, the recently launched superyacht Lusine, crafted by Dutch shipbuilder Heesen, stands as their largest steel yacht to date, featuring an exterior design by Omega Architects. Notably, Lusine received a Judges’ Commendation at both the 2023 World Superyacht Awards and the Design & Innovation Awards of the same year. The yacht places emphasis on a sophisticated and intricate lighting scheme, highlighting elegant joinery, luxurious textures, and rare stone surfaces throughout the vessel. This includes the incorporation of actual fragments of a moon meteorite, aligning with the yacht’s lunar theme.

Length:  68.2m Asking price:  €69,500,000

Originally serving as a multipurpose supply vessel in 2012, the yacht Q (formerly known as Ragnar) underwent a transformative process at the hands of Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts in 2020, turning it into a globe-trotting expedition vessel. The exterior, crafted by RWD, is rumored to draw inspiration from a medieval Viking helmet, while the interior incorporates discernible design elements reminiscent of cozy ski chalets and Scottish castles. Among its extensive explorer features, Q boasts diesel-electric propulsion with ice-breaking propellers, an industrial-grade crane, and a certified helideck designed to accommodate an Airbus EC145 helicopter.

Casino Royale

Length:  72m Asking price:  €66,000,000

Completing this year’s top 10 is the flagship of Tankoa, Casino Royale, which, during the past winter, underwent a transformation at the Amico shipyard, transitioning from its characteristic beige hull to an all-white exterior. The vessel received its contemporary aesthetic from Francesco Paszkowski Design, in collaboration with Margherita Casprini, resulting in a darkened, subtly masculine interior. According to Paszkowski, a key design element of the yacht is its beach club, allowing natural light from a glass-bottom pool above and connecting to the onboard wellness hub, featuring a hammam and several fold-out terrace balconies.

The Largest Top 100 Superyacht Launches of 2023

This year has seen an exceptional array of superyachts launched, from complex refits to technically advanced new builds. We take a look at six of the largest launches of the year, according to Superyachts.com’s Top 100 list of the largest yachts in the world.

Ranging from 90 to 145 metres in length, the five largest yachts launched in 2023 have certainly set the bar high for future launches. Three of the five largest yachts launched this year are Lürssen builds, as the German yard once again prevails as an esteemed industry leader. Freire Shipyard and Oceanco have also launched two exceptional vessels in 2023. 

145m - LUMINANCE

Builder: Lürssen

LUMINANCE was launched in February 2023: a highly anticipated project marking Lürssen’s eighth largest build. Her exterior design has been penned by Espen Oeino, marking the thirtieth collaboration between the designer and the shipyard. 

Her details have been kept tightly under wraps throughout her build process and following her launch, however she is said to have an internal volume of 9,000 GT and a beam of 20m, whilst bearing a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. 

According to Superyachts.com’s Top 100 list, LUMINANCE ranks as the 12th largest yacht in the world, marginally behind the Egyptian presidential yacht EL MAHROUSA which has an LOA of 145.7m. 

140m+ - Project ALI BABA

Despite an unintentional launch earlier this month due to a technical fault at her dock, Lürssen once again stunned the industry with the unveiling of the 140m+ Project ALI BABA. 

Whilst details of her build, design and specifications remain tightly under wraps, Project ALI BABA showcases a sleek, low grey profile, an elongated stretching bow, and two helipads. The industry had long awaited more news of ALI BABA’s build, as she was last seen in May 2022 during transport to begin her assembly. Following this unexpected launch and disruption, she is still on track to be delivered to her owner in 2024, recently moved to Lürssen’s Hamburg facilities for completion. 

With her official length still yet to be confirmed, Project ALI BABA will likely sit 16th in the Superyachts.com Top 100 largest yachts in the world, just behind Lloyd Werft's SOLARIS. 

In August, Lürssen launched its highly anticipated 122m JAG. She features an exterior design by Nuvolari Leanard: a sleek and sophisticated profile, with monochromatic black and white tones accented with splashes of red. Reymond Langton penned her interiors, and whilst they have not been revealed, we can only assume that they are just as eye-catching as her exterior design.

She can accommodate up to 20 guests across 11 staterooms with a crew of 40. She boasts exceptional space onboard, with a beam of 17.8m, making her a highly comfortable vessel. 

JAG ranks as the 32nd largest yacht in the world according to the Superyachts.com Top 100 list. 

114m - Project COSMOS

Project Cosmos was technically launched in March, known otherwise as Project 13759. Her first sighting was a highly exciting moment for the industry as, like LUMINANCE, little information has been revealed about the vessel. 

She has an interior volume of around 6300 GT, a beam of 18m, and a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Notably, she is the first Lürssen superyacht to feature new fuel cell technology that significantly reduces emissions by avoiding greenhouse gases, contributing to a more sustainable superyacht future. 

Her technical launch revealed that Project Cosmos features a large aft deck and swimming pool, alongside a cut-out that we can presume will house a tender. 

According to Superyachts.com’s Top 100 listings, Project Cosmos ranks as the 45th largest yacht in the world. 

112m - RENAISSANCE

Builder: Freire Shipyard

RENAISSANCE was launched this year as Freire Shipyard’s new flagship motor yacht and the largest yacht ever to be built in Spain. Bannenberg & Rowell oversaw her exterior and interior design, of which her interiors boast neutral colours, tactile furnishings and highly usable spaces. 

She has six decks and can accommodate 36 passengers in 19 luxurious cabins. RENAISSANCE features a double-height dining saloon, a beach club and al fresco dining opportunities on four of the decks. She promises the ultimate relaxation retreat, with stunning views and a range of treatment rooms and salons, as well as an expansive beach club showcasing the latest water toys. 

Currently, she is the most expensive yacht on the charter market, with a starting price of three million euros a week in low season with Burgess. RENAISSANCE sits just behind Project Cosmos on the Top 100 list, ranking as the 47th largest yacht in the world.

105m - 1050H 

Builder: Oceanco

Superyacht standards were set very early on in 2023 with the launch of Oceanco’s 1050H on the 10th of January. She was one of the industry’s most closely-guarded secrets: neither a newbuild, refit, or conversion, representing a fundamental rebuild of unprecedented scale. 

1050H is a heritage superyacht that has been completely transformed: the first vessel that has been recreated to such an extent that no single element remains the same. She has a modern exterior aesthetic, with an entirely new superstructure, and with interiors penned by Reymond Langton Design. 

The Dutch yard commented: ‘At a time when yachting is increasingly mindful of the impact on the planet, bringing an existing superyacht up to date with contemporary standards can have as much, if not more, of a positive effect as a sustainable new build.’ This highlights the importance placed on sustainability, showing 1050H to be an exceptional vessel beyond aesthetics and performance. 

1050H ranks at 63rd on the Superyachts.com Top 100 list. 

2023 has been a remarkable year for superyacht launches, in particular with the emphasis placed on sustainability and future-proof design. These five vessels set the benchmark not only for 2024 launches, but for future yachts in general, as they all exude not only exceptional aesthetics and amenities but highly complex and innovative technical features.

12. Nord – $300 Million

Nord is a massive superyacht built by German shipbuilding company Lürssen in 2021. It was initially named OPUS. According to Forbes, the yacht is currently valued at $300 million.

The yacht’s construction was done under the supervision of Moran Yacht, a private yacht dealership based in Florida. Both its interior and exterior designs were carried out by an Italian naval design firm, Nuvolari & Lenard.

The superyacht is fitted with state-of-the-art zero-speed stabilizers that reduce roll while being anchored or not underway. It features amenities such as a swimming pool, spa, a tender garage, and two helicopter landing pads, one on the top deck and another on the bow.

Nord is owned by Russian billionaire Alexei Mordashov, the chairman and majority shareholder of the biggest steel and mining company in Russia – Severstal.

Specifications :

At 142 meters in length, Nord is one of the largest superyachts in the world. It has a volume of 10,154 gross tonnage or gt. It can accommodate a maximum of 36 guests at a time.

The vessel is powered by four MTU engines and has a cruising speed of 15 knots or 28 kph.

11. Pelorus – $300 Million

Launched In : 2003

Builder : Lürssen Current Owner : Samuel Tak Lee

Pelorus is the oldest superyacht on this list and has a rich history. Since its completion in 2003, the vessel has changed hands several times.

Pelorus was initially ordered by a Saudi businessman named Sheikh Abdul Mohsen in 1999. The construction started in the year 2000 and entered service two years later in 2003.

However, the yacht was sold to the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich within a year of its launch. As a new owner, Roman Abramovich made several modifications to the superyacht, which included adding a second helicopter pad.

In 2011, Pelorus was bought by David Geffen for about $300 million. But he sold the yacht after a brief period to sultan Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of UAE.

The superyacht changed ownership again in 2016. Its current owner is Samuel Tak Lee, a Hong Kong-based real estate billionaire.

At 115 meters in length, Pelorus is perhaps the smallest superyacht on this list, but it is still a gigantic vessel. For perspective, the total length of an entire football field is 110 meters. It has a volume of 5,317 gt.

Pelorus has a cruising speed of 14 knots or 26 kph and a reported maximum speed of 20 knots (37 kph).

10. Dubai – $400 Million

Launched In : 2006

Builder : Blohm+Voss Owner : Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

‘Dubai’ is a superyacht owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the vice president/prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. It is currently the tenth most expensive superyacht in the world.

Until 2009, it was the largest private superyacht in the world but was surpassed by Eclipse, Azzam, and Fulk Al Salamah.

The yacht is built by Blohm+Voss, a German shipbuilding company best known for producing the German battleship Bismark during World War II. Blohm+Voss was acquired by the Lürssen shipyard in 2016.

Dubai superyacht is designed by renowned yacht designer Andrew Winch along with interior designer firm Platinum Yachts.

The superyacht carries a helipad, two motorboats, water bikes, and a submersible. Amenities include a large dining room, swimming pool, a movie theater, and disco.

At a length of 162 meters, Dubai is currently the fourth largest private superyacht in the world. It has a tonnage of 13,470 gt. Dubai superyacht is powered by four MTU diesel engines, each delivering 8,479 hp. It has a maximum speed of 26 knots (48 km/h) and a range of 8,500 nmi (15,700 km).

9. Eclipse – $438 Million

Eclipse is a massive superyacht owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich. He is currently the 13the richest individual in Russia and made his wealth through the steel industry and other investments.

After its launch in 2009, Eclipse became the world’s largest private yacht. However, it has been surpassed by Fulk Al Salamah and Azzam in recent years.

Eclipse was built by Blohm+Voss, three years after the Dubai superyacht, in 2009. Its estimated cost is around €340 million.

The superyacht accommodates about a dozen of luxurious cabins for guests, two helipads, an entertainment hall, and a mini-submarine that can submerge up to 50 meters below the surface.

While it is clear that Eclipse is no ordinary superyacht, what makes it truly stand out from the rest is its military-styled missile defense system that detects and fires missiles at possible threats.

The yacht also features an ‘anti-photo shield’ for enhanced privacy. When activated, the shield detects a CCD sensor (closed coupled device) and fires a shot of laser in its direction to destroy any photographs. However, the effectiveness of such technology remains debatable .

Eclipse has a length of 162.5 meters and a volume of 13,000 gt. Its beam is 22 meters, and the draft is 5.9 meters. The vessel is powered by four MTU diesel engines and has a maximum speed of 22 knots or 40.7 km per hour.

It requires about 70 crew members to serve all the guests. Eclipse was last seen at a small village port in Turkey.

8. Flying Fox – $455 Million

Builder : Lürssen Owner : Dmitry Kamenshchik

The Flying Fox is a luxury yacht built by Germany’s Lürssen shipyard in 2019. It is perhaps the world’s largest and most expensive yacht available for charter. A week-long vacation on this superyacht would cost you about $4 million.

This spectacular vessel is a result of collective design work from interior designer Mark Berryman and renowned superyacht architect Espen Oeino . Apart from the Flying Fox, Mr. Oeino is known for his work on other superyachts such as Silver Fast and Octopus (owned by Microsoft’s co-founder Paul Allen).

Like most modern superyachts, the Flying Fox is primarily centered around wellness and watersports themes. Its exceptional tender garage carries nearly every water sports equipment from hoverboards and seabobs to windsurfs and flying boards. Moreover, it also carries a personal submarine that can be launched using a crane.

Often regarded as a ‘floating resort,’ the superyacht has guest suits, a two-level saloon space, a specialized gym, multiple fireplaces, and lots of greenery.

But perhaps its most eye-catching feature is the 12-meter deck pool with adjustable height floor, massage jets at one side, and swim jets at the other. Moreover, the yacht also carries a cryosauna which can help you emulate the post-workout endorphins rush.

Due to the sheer size and splendor of the Flying Fox, it was speculated that the yacht was owned by Jeff Bezos (the world’s richest person in 2019).

However, in 2022, it was revealed that the actual owner of the yacht is a Russian oligarch named Dmitry Kamenshchik.

The Flying Fox measures 136 meters in length and 9,022 gt in internal volume. It has a beam of 22.5 meters and a draft of 5.1 meters. It is currently the 22nd largest yacht in the world by length.

The superyacht requires a crew of 55 (including four chefs) to serve a maximum of 25 guests at a time.

While the Flying Fox is privately owned, it’s managed mostly by superyacht brokerage house Imperial Yachts.

7. Solaris – $474 Million

Builder : Lloyd Werft Owner : Roman Abramovich

Solaris is a giant superyacht owned by Roman Abramovich. It is perhaps the most expensive yacht in his possession. At a length of 138 meters, Solaris is smaller but a more expensive and luxurious yacht than Eclipse.

The superyacht features amenities including a Jacuzzi, sauna, a gym, entertainment center, an office, and custom-built lounge areas. It also carries several high-speed jet skis and even a submersible for adventurous guests who want to explore the ocean.

Apart from the luxuries, Solaris has some of the most impressive and up-to-date security features to prevent any crisis situation. It is fitted with bulletproof windows, armored cabins, and a radar-controlled missile detection system. The yacht also has the ice-breaking capability.

Solaris was built by Lloyd Werft, a German shipyard that went bankrupt in 2022.

The overall internal volume of Solaris is about 11,000 gt. It has a total of eight decks with a capacity of 36 guests and 60 crew members onboard.

Solaris is powered by two high-tech marine propulsion units called Azipod, which consists of an electric motor driving a fixed pitch propeller. It is mounted on a steerable pod that allows the vessel to be more maneuverable.

6. A+ (formerly Topaz) – $527 Million

Launched In : 2012

Builder : Lürssen Owner : Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan

The next in the line of most expensive superyachts is called A+. It was built by Germany’s Lürssen yachts for about $527 million. The yacht was initially named ‘Topaz.’

A+ is currently owned by Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the deputy Prime minister of UAE.

The exterior of the ship was designed by renowned yacht designer Tim Heywood. For interior design and decorations, Lürssen hired Terence Disdale, a U.K-based specialist design firm that has worked on several superyachts, including Pelorus, Tatoosh, and Ecstasea.

The superyacht has eight decks, three swimming pools, two helicopter landing pads, a jacuzzi, and a theater, among other amenities.

In 2020, A+ was embroiled in a global scandal after reports surfaced that it was partially financed by embezzled funds from Malaysia’s 1MDB sovereign wealth fund.

At 147 meters, A+ is currently the world’s tenth largest yacht by length. It measures 11,589 gt in volume. The main structure of the vessel is made of aluminum.

A+ is powered by two French-made Pielstick diesel engines, each producing 7990 hp. The yacht has a cruising speed of 22.9 knots, while it can reach a maximum speed of more than 25 knots.

5. Serene -$550 Million

Launched In : 2011

Builder : Fincantieri Owner : Mohammed bin Salman

Serene is currently the fifth most expensive yacht in the world. It was built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri initially for Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler, who made his wealth through his alcoholic beverage empire.

Serene’s interior design and decoration were carried out by Reymond Langton Design, an independent design studio specializing in luxury yachts. The estimated manufacturing cost of the yacht is around $330 million.

After its completion in 2011, Serene was among the ten largest private yachts in the world. However, it is currently ranked 21st. It has a bunch of ultra-luxurious amenities, including a large seawater pool, spa, a nightclub, a full-scale library, and a helipad. There is also an underwater viewing room.

Yuri Shefler sold the superyacht to Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman for about $550 million in 2014. A few months before this transaction, Serene was rented by Bill Gates for a fee of $5 million a week .

In 2019, a report stated that Salvator Mundi, the world’s most expensive painting , was stored inside the yacht. However, it was never confirmed.

Salvator Mundi is one of the most iconic paintings made by Leonardo da Vinci. It was sold for a whopping $450 million ($497 million adjusted value) at Christie’s auction house in November 2017.

The superyacht has a moderately large internal volume of 8,230 gt and a total length of 134 meters . Instead of a single large propeller, it is fitted with two controllable pitch propellers. Serene has a total of seven decks with 12 guest cabins and 30 crew cabins.

4. Sailing Yacht A – $578 Million

Builder : Nobiskrug (Former) Owner : Andrey Melnichenko

A sailing yacht differs from a typical motor yacht as it uses sails as a primary method for propulsion. A or sailing yacht A is actually a sail-assisted motor yacht with a hybrid powerplant and three mast sailing rig. It is the largest sailing yacht in the world.

Sailing Yacht A is designed by renowned French industrial architect Philippe Starck, who has worked for brands such as Adidas, Hilton International, and a bunch of private entities. The yacht is owned by Andrey Melnichenko.

With a gross tonnage of 12,558 gt and a length of 142.81 meters, the sailing yacht A is perhaps the largest yacht of its type. The beam and draft lengths are 24.8 meters and 8 meters, respectively.

The vessel features an underwater observation pod with 30 cm thick glass. The cruising speed of sailing yacht A is 16 knots (39 km/h) and has a range of 9,890 km.

3. Dilbar – $588 Million

Builder : Lürssen (Former) Owner : Alisher Usmanov

With a price tag of nearly $590 million, Dilbar is currently the third-most expensive yacht in the world. It was built by Lürssen Yachts for Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov. The yacht is named after his mother.

Usmanov is one of the richest Russian oligarchs, who made his wealth through steel, telecom, and investments after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Dilbar is not just your regular large yacht. It is currently the third-largest (by gross tonnage) and sixth longest motor yacht in the world ( the third-longest built by Lürssen). Apart from other luxuries, the superyacht has two helipads and a huge indoor pool.

According to the U.S Department of Treasury, Dilbar’s estimated worth is between $600 million and $735 million . The annual maintenance cost for this gigantic ship is about $60 million.

Dilbar superyacht was among the many private assets owned by Russian billionaires that were seized by foreign governments in 2022. The yacht was impounded by the German authorities at Hamburg port in April 2022.

At 15,917 gt, Dilbar is the second largest private yacht in the world by gross tonnage after Fulk Al Salamah , owned by the Omani Royal Family.

The length of the superyacht is 156 m. For perspective, the total length of a football field is 110 m or 360 ft. It has a beam of 24 m and a draft of 6.1 m.

Dilbar has a cruising speed of 18 knots (33 km/h) and a maximum speed of 22.5 knots (41.7 km/h).

2. Azzam – $605 Million

Builder : Lürssen Yachts Owner : Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE (Until his death in May 2022)

Azzam (Arabic word for ‘Resolute’) is a luxury superyacht built by German yacht maker Lürssen. The construction of the yacht was personally ordered by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former president of the United Arab Emirates.

The superyacht is a remarkable piece of engineering in more than one way. It took Lürssen about three years to complete Azzam’s construction after an entire year of design work. The vessel has a shallow draft of 4.3 meters. It is currently the longest motor yacht in service.

The total manufacturing cost of Azzam is estimated to be around $600 million making it the second-most expensive private yacht in the world.

After the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in May 2022, it was reported that Azzam was listed for charter.

Azzam’s recorded length is 179.9 m, which is about 17 m more than Eclipse’s. It is powered by two diesel engines and two gas turbines, each producing 23,500 hp.

At $4.8 billion , History Supreme is the most expensive superyacht ever made. Like any other superyacht, History Supreme has private cabins, a swimming pool, and other luxury amenities. The reason behind History Supreme’s sky-high value is the amount of gold and other precious metals that are used on its body. The yacht has over 100,000 kilograms of gold and platinum from top to bottom.

While the deck, a large dining area, and railings are coated with gold, the main cabin is covered with platinum. It is also reported that a real dinosaur bone from T-rex is placed on a cabin wall.

Moreover, the entire base of the vessel is wrapped in a thin layer of gold.

History Supreme is designed by Stuart Hughes, a British luxury goods designer widely known for his extravagant use of gold and diamond on electronic gadgets, luxury cars, and other luxury items.

According to reports, the superyacht is owned by Malaysian businessman and billionaire Robert Kuok.

13. al mirqab – $250 to $300 million.

Al Mirqab, initially known as ‘Project May,’ is a superyacht owned by Qatari politician Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. It is currently valued between $250 and $300 million.

The vessel is constructed by a small German shipyard Peters Werft and is designed by a pair of renowned yacht designers – Andrew Winch and Tim Heywood.

Al Mirqab has two VIP or owner suits and 10 additional suits for guests. It can serve up to 24 guests at a time. The amenities include a jacuzzi, a swimming pool, and a helipad.

14. Ocean Victory – $295 Million

Ocean Victory superyacht has seven decks, a large tender garage, multiple pools, and a helipad. It can accommodate a maximum of 36 guests at a time.

According to Forbes, the yacht is currently owned by Russian billionaire Victor Rashnikov and is valued at $295 million.

15. Octopus – $240 Million

The superyacht has a total of eight decks with 13 guest suites and a private owner’s deck. Amenities include a gym, a spa, an entertainment center, and a basketball court. Moreover, it has not one but two helipads.

‘Octopus’ was designed by Espen Oeino and Seatle-based interior designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett. During its construction, Paul Allen asked the designers to build a vessel capable of conducting long expeditions and even rescue operations on top of having leisure amenities onboard.

It is equipped with two mini-submarines and a remotely operated underwater vehicle or ROV for underwater research and rescue operations.

In December 2018, the yacht underwent an overhaul at Blohm+Voss shipyard for over seven months. In 2021, the yacht was reported to be bought by an anonymous buyer for £200 million .

The construction of a superyacht is usually done in four phases – planning or design, engineering, superstructure construction, and outfitting.

It takes about three to four years to build an entire custom superyacht. While it takes less time to construct a vessel on a pre-developed platform with standard elements, building a customized superyacht that caters to all your requirements takes more time. You also have to take unexpected delays into consideration.

The design or planning is the most critical phase in a superyacht construction. Considering the budget and specific requirements, the entire process could take between nine months and a year.

The Current International Market for Luxury Superyachts

The yacht industry is on the rise, and the demand for luxury superyachts has exploded in the last few years during soaring stock markets and crypto gains. Most of the demand is from the United States.

The global yacht industry is valued at $64 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach $84.7 Billion by 2027 growing at a CAGR of 4.1 percent.

According to Boat International’s Global Order Book, about 1,024 superyachts are under construction or on order globally in 2022. It is about a 25 percent increase from the last year’s 821 vessels.

For this ranking, we looked at the superyachts and luxury expedition mega yachts that are used privately or made available for charter. We excluded so-called ‘residential superyachts’ (think Njord and The World), which are essentially luxury apartment buildings at sea where people own private residences inside the superyacht rather than the whole yacht. By researching diverse, reliable sources like Wikipedia and the Superyacht Times, we compile a list of the largest yachts in the world.

26. Y721 (aka Koru) | 417 feet—127m

Ever wonder where Jeff Bezos spends his downtime? As of today, we’re predicting it to be on his $500 million superyacht. Y721—nicknamed Koru—is 127m long. And featuring three sky-high slender masts, Koru is said to be the largest sailing yacht in the world . 

With dark exteriors and natural wooden decks, Koru is inspired by another one of Bezos’ yachts—the Black Pearl. The clean lines and classically curved bow speak to an understated elegance despite the yacht’s mammoth size. While a long line of portals indicates at least 9 guest cabins. In light of all the secrecy surrounding Koru, we doubt Bezos will ever charter her out, but we can still dream.

25. Al Mirqab | 436 feet—133m

Adorned with cascading chandeliers and gold accents, Al Mirqab is renowned for its unrivaled interiors. Surrounded by suspended glass artworks, a grand staircase floats throughout the four floors. And inspired by authentic Arabian styles, the magnificent superyacht is reminiscent of a magic carpet ride through the seas . 

Built for the former Prime Minister of Qatar, Peterswerft-Kusch spared no expense in delivering Al Mirqab to an impossibly high standard for luxury. The large swimming pool is a standout feature as it opens up into the sea, creating the ultimate playground for adults. Al Mirqab has a capacity for up to 60 guests and is manned by an equal number of crew. Although you have to be invited by the politician himself as Al Mirqab isn’t available for private charter.

Adeptly named, the magnificent superyacht embodies the serenity of a life at sea. Serene was built in Italy for a Russian owner in 2011. She was leased to Bill Gates for the Summer in 2014 for $5 million per week. 

Designed by Reymond Langton, the 134m mega yacht marries elegant sophistication with state-of-the-art technologies. The seven decks leave ample space for guests to soak in scintillating views. While the underwater viewing room—nicknamed the Nemo room—is a permanent gallery of resplendent sealife. The real-life snow room makes up to four inches of snow. And whilst this may seem odd when your billionaire boss asks for snow—you make it snow.

Yet another Lurssen masterpiece, Crescent pays homage to classic naval designs with traditional architecture and elegant interiors. Formerly named Project Thunder, she was built in Germany and delivered to Igor Sechin in 2018. The Russian oligarch’s superyacht was seized by Spain after sanctions were placed on Russia in 2022. 

Crescent features low bulwarks and full-height windows to maximize the view from the center of the boat. Her distinctive wing station provides unrivaled views for up to 18 guests. But don’t get your hopes up—Crescent is strictly for private use only and isn’t available for charter. 

22. Savarona | 446 feet – 136m

Savarona is the second-largest yacht built by Blohm & Voss and spends most of her time in the Mediterranean. This luxury superyacht is one of the oldest in the market — a perfect fusion of traditional charm and modern facilities. 

Previously named Gunes Dil, Savarona was designed by Cox & Stevens, with interior design carefully handled by Donald Starkey. She’s available to charter on a weekly basis and has been refurbished over the years. Back in the day, her cost price was $4 million, and in 1989, she was chartered by Kahraman Sadikoglu, owner of the Turkish Sadikoglu Group, who spent an estimated $50 million on refurbishing her from top to bottom.

21. Flying Fox | 446 feet – 136m

Flying Fox is known as the most expensive charter yacht in the world , and a week aboard will set you back around $3 million. Chartered by the one and only power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z in 2021, it’s filled to the brim with all of the luxury facilities you could ever possibly want. 

The Flying Fox is rumored to be owned by Jeff Bezos, although that’s a claim that’s never been totally certified. She spends most of her time in the Mediterranean, specifically Cannes, Capri, and Sardinia, although she’s recently visited Norway, too. She can accommodate the largest helicopters on the market, and it reportedly took more than 50 meetings with her owner for interior design to be completed.

20. Rising Sun | 454 feet – 138m

The Rising Sun’s original owner, Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle Corporation, sold her in 2010 as he considered her too large. Famously used by David Geffen for self-isolation, Rising Sun has also been a popular hang-out spot for celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Beatrice, the Princess of York. 

She’s a Superyacht with impressive attention to detail like interiors kitted out in teak and onyx and endless features like a full gym, a large wine cellar, a sauna, and a spa. She’s got a full-size basketball court that doubles up as a helicopter landing pad and a private cinema for those long evenings spent at sea.

19. Al Salamah | 457 feet – 139m

Al Salamah is part of the Omani Royal fleet and started her very secretive life in Genoa. Known as the world’s biggest superyacht right up until 2016, she’s a sleek masterpiece of a ship, with a distinctive cream color and beach club design. 

Al Salamah does everything in multiples, from the five galleys onboard (the main galley, a bakery, a crew galley, an owner’s diet galley, and an Arab galley), three hospitals (one for the owner, one for guests, and one for the crew) and 2,000 sqm of floor space. She was put on sale briefly for $280 million USD, before being delisted and instead given as a gift to the Crown Prince of Bahrain. 

18. Solaris | 458 feet – 139m

Everything about Solaris was supposed to be kept a secret when she was being built—a secret that didn’t last long when her huge size was spotted undergoing sea trials in the North Sea. One of this Superyacht’s main attractions is her beach club on the top floor: the perfect spot for relaxation during those long days out at sea. 

That beach club comes complemented with endless other stylish amenities, like a large helipad, sun deck, and a crane to launch tenders, toys, and subs. Interior design is largely unknown, but, if it’s anything as sleek and white as its exteriors, it’s sure to be impressive.

17. Scheherazade | 459 feet – 140m

Two helicopter landing pads, two outdoor Jacuzzis, and two outdoor fire pits: Scheherazade doesn’t hold back with not only the essentials but also the luxuries. Previously named Lightning, “Scheherazade” is mostly associated with a female character in the Middle Eastern folk tales in the series One Thousand and One Nights. 

Not much is known about this superyacht, and even her birth and building process were referred to under a codename: Project Lightning. No one involved in her creation, even Lurssen, has revealed anything about her interiors or her owner. All that’s really known is that she sailed from Germany to Norway initially after completion. 

16. Ocean Victory | 460 feet – 140m

Ocean Victory has traveled all over the world, from Europe to Southeast Asia and back again. Owned by Russian billionaire Viktor Rashnikov, she’s the upgraded vessel to follow his purchase of the 76-meter Ebony Shine. 

She’s one designed with pure luxury in mind, from the six individual swimming pools onboard to the 300-square meter spa area. She’s beautiful both inside and out, with a unique concept designed by Espen Oeino and interior designer Alberto Pinto. The largest superyacht ever built in Italy, Ocean Victory shows some of the finest in the world when it comes to premium quality adventures at sea.

Yas is known best for its seamless and rather unusual design — one that’s a little different from most superyachts out there. The owner of Yas wanted a yacht that lived up to his own heritage; one with a backbone reminiscent of the navy and with abstract lines throughout. 

He chose an existing boat in Abu Dhabi, which was deconstructed within the region before being shipped off and renovated into the wonder that it is today. The Yas yacht was originally a Dutch navy frigate, which you’d never guess from strolling around onboard today.

14. Nord | 465 feet – 142m

Nord’s distinctive bow design has never been seen before on a yacht. That’s one of the first things you’ll notice about her. The next thing you’ll notice is her unusual design, which verges on battle-esque and has been called “ a warship wearing a tuxedo ” by Dan Lenard of the Italian design studio Nuvolari-Lenard. 

She’s one of the best superyachts out there for fun, with a sports and diving center on the lower deck, a swimming pool higher up, overlooking the ocean, and a fleet of tenders. She was designed for global exploration: a yacht that will calmly cruise her way all across the world.

13. Sailing Yacht A | 469 feet—142.8m

Challenging the status quo and pushing design boundaries, Sailing Yacht A is an enigma. The sail-assisted superyacht was built in Germany and delivered to Russian tycoon Andrey Melnichenko in 2017. However, she was seized by the Italian police force, Guardia di Finanza, in 2022 after sanctions were placed on Russian businessmen following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. 

Distinguished by soaring rotating carbon fiber masts, Nobiskrug’s hybrid approach to superyachts makes Sailing Yacht A more eco-conscious than other luxury yachts of her size. The u nderwater viewing pod molded into the keel speaks to her unrivaled innovation. And many balconies are enclosed by some of the largest pieces of curved glass ever made. 

12. El Mahrousa | 478 feet – 146m

El Mahrousa had a few different names in her time, ranging from the translated “The Protected” to El Horreya, which in Arabic translates to “Freedom.” It’s not surprising that she’s had more than one name when you take into account her age. As the oldest superyacht in the world, she’s undergone a lot of restoration over time, including multiple lengthenings and faster engines. 

She was renamed back to El Mahrousa in 2000 and gained even more recognition for being the first ship to cross the new Suez Canal extension in 2015. Back in her original days, she was built on the River Thames and took her first trip in 1867.

11. OK | 479 feet—146m

Delivered in Japan in 1982, OK is one of the largest and most unique superyachts in the world. Sprawling over 479 feet, the water giant is engineered to submerge almost seventy percent. This is accredited to the work done by Karmarine Shipyard. While the majority of the vessel was built by Oshima Shipping, it was privately converted to a semi-submersible yacht in Turkey. 

The superlative finishing on OK superyacht was designed by Timur Bozca, winner of the Younger Designer of the Year award in 2015. The blueprint being as many games as possible. The extraordinary vessel has the uncanny ability to hold over seventy toys, including a sailing yacht, a sea plane, tenders, buggies and even a tennis court.

10. Opera | 480 feet—146.4m 

Like many of the most majestic water titans, Opera was delivered by Lurssen in Germany and built for Abu Dhabi royalty. This time, the owner is Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, son of the founder of the United Arab Emirates. And while it may not be quite as astronomical as Lurssen’s previous builds—Azzam, Blue and Dilbar—the streamlined vessel is equally impressive onboard. 

The three-story superyacht proves large enough for a pair of helipads and two swimming pools, amongst many other toys, while simultaneously making room for up to 48 guests and 80 crew members. When it comes to the interior, details are sparse, but we do know that it was designed by Terence Disdale, a London firm renowned for creating bespoke luxury spaces. 

9. Prince Abdulaziz | 482 feet – 147m

The Prince Abdulaziz’s yacht was ordered by King Fahd, who named her after his son Prince Abdul Aziz. Now, she’s owned by his brother, Abdullah. Just one of the yachts owned by the Saudi royal family, she’s spotted frequently throughout Europe, especially in Cannes, where the royal family owns a property. 

She’s been redecorated once — in 2007 — in a project that took 15 months to complete, without even taking into account the rest of the ship’s upkeep. The Prince Abdulaziz is known for its combination of bold colors and fusion of traditional and modern design, thanks to its influence from the late David Hicks.

8. A+ | 483 feet – 147m

What do you do when the name “A” is already taken for your superyacht? Choose the next closest thing: A+. Previously named Topaz, this superyacht was the world’s fourth-largest luxury yacht when she was built, before being stripped of that particular title only a few years later. 

Nevertheless, she’s a seriously impressive superyacht, with endless facilities like a large jacuzzi, double helicopter landing pads, a swimming pool with a swimming platform and underwater lights, as well as a fitness hall, cinema, and a large conference room. She’s also well equipped with water toys, like jet skis, inflatable boats, a catamaran, and even a mini-submarine.

7. Al Said | 508 feet – 155m

Another Superyacht built, shrouded in secrecy, Al-Said was referred to as “Project Sunflower” the entire time she was being created, right up until she was delivered to her owner in 2008. Not much is known about Al Said, from her movements through to her amenities — although she is known to have a huge concert room with space for a full 50-person orchestra. 

Currently, she’s flying the flag of Oman and has spent a lot of time in its surrounding waters. Her interior was styled by British designer design house RWD, with exterior design being credited to Espen Oeino. When she was delivered to the Sultan of Oman, she replaced a previous ship of a smaller size. 

6. Dilbar | 511 feet – 156m

Dilbar, or Project Omar, as it was originally known as, is another superyacht designed with the help of exterior expert Espen Oeino, but with interiors strikingly designed by Andrew Winch. Dilbar is famously known as the world’s largest yacht by gross tonnage (interior volume) but as the fifth-longest superyacht in the world. 

She’s home to a spa pool and beach club, as well as a large private cinema, spacious cabins set high on the main deck, a spacious dining room, and a salon with its own piano. She’s just as classy and beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

5. Blue | 527 feet—160.6m

Sunday blues simply cease to exist on one of the world’s most extravagant superyachts. The elegant behemoth was built for member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi and billionaire, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2022. Valued at over $600 million, Blue is one of the most expensive superyachts in the world. And with a strong emphasis on the environment, this superyacht is also one of the most sustainable. 

Blue strives to be as environmentally friendly as possible. She is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept developed by Lürssen’s own engineering specialists. And the wastewater treatment plant allows water to be disposed of in drinking water quality.

4. Dubai | 531 feet – 162m

Dubai had multiple names in the planning stages—including Panhandle, Platinum, and Golden Star. Owned by the ruler of Dubai, it was aptly named after its home country and comes with all of the luxurious amenities you’d expect from such a name. 

The Dubai comes complete with a huge swimming pool and two jacuzzis. Further down, you’ll find a large dining room with striking blue and burgundy decor and space for up to 90 guests. Dubai usually spends her time moored at Sheikh Mohammed’s private island in front of his summer palace in Dubai. She’s basically the definition of a floating palace.

3. Eclipse | 533 feet – 162.5m

It took around five years for Eclipse to be built from start to finish. While she was always designed to be a huge, luxurious Superyacht, the focus was more on decking it out appropriately rather than breaking any records. An award-winning superyacht, she’s incredibly spacious, with endless rooms to explore and a sleek, neutral color palette running through. 

The Eclipse’s owner, Roman Abramovich, was more focused on facilities: he wanted more than one helicopter pad and a large swimming pool, too. Other than that, designer Terry Disdale had free reign for the rest of the superyacht. It’s just as much a clean piece of architectural styling as it is a stunning experience on deck.

2. Fulk Al Salamah | 538 feet – 164m

Fulk Al Salamah translates to “Ship of Peace” and that’s something that sounds like a given when you’ve taken a look at this superyacht’s incredible layout. Developed under the codename Project Saffron, Fulk Al Salamah is more of a support vessel than she is a typical superyacht. 

While she might still come complete with all of the necessities for a particularly relaxing voyage, she’s more so known for being a transport ship for the Royal Navy of Oman. She’s also used as a sort of friendship boat — pun intended — and is often sailed across the world with the intention of strengthening ties with the Sultanate. In some ports, influential people are welcomed onboard.

Most superyachts in the top 10 category have a few mere inches between sizes, but the Azzam shoots far ahead with a large amount of extra length. The largest superyacht in the world, she was never designed to win the title — rather just to be a sleek and elegant vessel. Azzam was crafted backward, with the plans for her interior confirmed long before her exterior was fully signed off. 

Her length only came to be as such to incorporate everything required for the interiors, which added an extra 35 meters to her overall size. She’s also designed to look smaller than she actually is, with a blend of indoor and outdoor living. It took more than 4,000 people to build Azzam , clocking up six million man-hours over a period of four years.

The most expensive yacht in the world

The fact that the History Supreme, the world’s most expensive superyacht, comes coated in gold, is only part of the reason for its high cost. A superyacht with a real-life Midas touch, it was sold to an anonymous Malaysian businessman for $4.8 billion. 

Robert Kuok, the richest Malaysian businessman, is the rumored owner of History Supreme, but no one has confirmed for sure. The History Supreme also comes with plenty of other impressive touches: a master bedroom decked out in platinum, a wall feature made from meteoric stone, and a genuine T-Rex dinosaur bone, to add to the list. 

She took three years to build from scratch and comes with 10,000 kilograms of solid gold and platinum. Other seriously luxe features are her 68 kilograms 24-carat gold Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium and a liquor bottle adorned with a rare 18.5-carat diamond . The base of the vessel comes wrapped in gold, too.

The 181-m (590 ft) Azzam is the world’s longest yacht in length, but the 156-m Dilbar has a much larger internal volume (measured in Gross Tons) at 15,917 GT (Gross Tons) versus 13,136 GT for Azzam. The biggest yacht in the world is the Azzam , which has an estimated cost of $600 million. She’s owned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is not currently for sale.

With a combined length of 2,929 feet, the world’s top 10 superyachts scheduled for delivery this year are moving away from the idea that yachting is about whose boat is bigger. The trend is now more about mission than size. This year’s launches will be wide ranging, from motoryachts to sailing vessels, explorers and even a giant sportfish.

The list includes offerings from German shipyard Lürssen , which has two 400-foot-plus yachts ready to splash this year, with noteworthy deliveries from other shipyards in Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands showcasing different definitions of design, power and performance.

Here are the yachts we can’t wait to see.

‘Koru’ (564 feet) Oceanco

Jeff Bezos’ first yacht, Koru , was spotted last week on sea trials. The Amazon founder chose to make a bold design statement by commissioning the world’s largest sailing yacht, not to mention the longest pleasure vessel, motor or sail, ever from The Netherlands. Built by Oceanco, the titanic sailing machine is an incredible 3300 GT, powered by kinetic energy generated by the sails. Besides its massive length, its classic canoe stern, a double-deck wooden coach house and navy hull with a red stripe differentiate Koru from any other vessel on the water. The project remains hush-hush. Even the designers remain a secret.

‘Liva’ (387 feet, 1 inch) Abeking & Rasmussen

Launched late last year and scheduled to be delivered in early 2023, Liva is the largest yacht built by Abeking to date, overtaking the German shipyard’s previous flagship Aviva by 65 feet. The French studio Joseph Dirand Architecture was commissioned to pen both the exterior and interior, which is reported to include a semi-submerged underwater observation room on the lower deck, a supersized pool, helipad, spa with sauna and beauty salon, and a lower-deck beach club.

‘Alchemy’ (216 feet, 5 inches) Rossinavi

Commissioned by a private American client, the 216-foot multi-deck motoryacht Alchemy is one of three yachts to be launched by Italian shipyard Rossinavi in 2023. Exterior design is by Philippe Briand, with interior styling by Enrico Gobbi’s Team for Design. Little information has yet to be revealed, though it’s visible from images that the custom yacht features an axe bow, drop-down side terraces at the stern and large floor-to-ceiling windows that afford views from all levels.

Project Jag (400 feet) Lürssen

The 400-foot displacement motoryacht known only as “Project Jag” is reported to be the owner’s third Lürssen. His most recent is Kismet . It is set for delivery in late 2023. Capable of sleeping 20 guests and 40 crew, the gigayacht is equipped with a helipad, spa, swimming pool, two cinemas, gym and storage for a sub. Italian design firm Nuvolari Lenard designed the steel yacht’s exterior, while UK studio Reymond Langton has crafted what is rumored to be a “bespoke homage to the owner’s lifestyle”—whatever that means.

Project Luminance (426 feet, 5 inches) Lürssen

Project Luminance is a 426.5-foot motor yacht that Lürssen claims will be one of the largest and most technologically advanced boats in the world. It’s also the largest yacht due to deliver in 2023. Construction began in 2018, yet few details have been revealed. What we do know is that the seventh-largest project to ever come out of the German shipyard to date features state-of-the-art propulsion systems, advanced navigation and communication systems, as well as next-generation entertainment.

‘T52’ (170 feet) Baglietto

The first model in Baglietto’s T52 line, which splashed in February 2023, features sleek lines and aerodynamic grills penned by Francesco Paszkowski Design. Power comes from a diesel-electric-hybrid propulsion system. The yacht celebrates outdoor space, including a large multi-level beach club at the stern with a fold-down transom, oversized sunbeds and a swimming pool with a floor that rises flush with the deck. Sliding windows on the upper deck convert space into an open-air sky lounge and a 78-foot sundeck with a glass-encased hot tub.

Project 406 (170 feet, 6 inches) Royal Huisman

The Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman made its name building some of the world’s largest sailing yachts, including 296-foot Athena , but now it’s hitting the record books again with the impending launch of Project 406 , the world’s largest sportsfisherman. Naval architecture, exterior and interior are by Dutch studio Vripack. The firm gave the six-decked aluminum yacht a towering profile promising spectacular front-row views of the big game fishing action. The team balanced its height by a long bow, high bulwarks and uncluttered fishing cockpit.

‘Black Shark’ (252 feet, 6 inches) Nobiskrug

Black Shark first began construction in 2019, but all work ceased when Nobiskrug later filed for insolvency. In March 2022, following the German shipyard’s acquisition by entrepreneur Lars Windhorst, work on Black Shark recommenced, with delivery set for 2023. The 252-foot boat, designed by Winch Design, gets its name from its predatory profile and mast shaped like a dorsal fin. A reverse bow, black matte hull and metallic silver superstructure will also help to enhance the marine connection.

‘Ultra G’ (196 feet, 8 inches) Heesen

Heesen is renowned for building fast boats, so it’s no surprise that Ultra G , equipped with a propulsion package totaling 22,000 horsepower, with four water jets and a top speed of 37 knots. The Dutch yard hailed this as its most powerful project to date. The motoryacht was commissioned by an avid sportfisherman, with a fighting chair and storage for 40 rods. Entertainment was also a big mandate for the design, stretching from Samsung’s “The Wall” screen, an infinity pool, and a dedicated self-cleaning “dog park” for furry guests.

‘Maverick’ (145 feet, 3 inches) Cantiere delle Marche

Maverick is the first Flexplorer 142 to soon be delivered by Cantiere delle Marche (CdM), bought by a young German who is a keen sailor and serial owner of both sailing boats and motoryachts. The owner’s itinerary will see him cruising the Mediterranean, before heading to the Northern latitudes to cross the Northwest Passage and put Hydro Tec’s bold exterior design and running surface to the test. Key features include a custom-built A-frame crane that sits flush on the deck when not in use, collapsible bulwarks that fold-down to reveal a 1,450-square-foot beach club, and an infinity pool at the transom.

The Monaco Yacht Show is considered the most exclusive superyacht show in the world, and 2023 did not disappoint. Set around Monaco’s iconic Port Hercules, the event showcased some of the world’s largest superyachts alongside best-in-class superyacht service providers and luxury lifestyle goods befitting of the superyacht world. Guests had the opportunity to meet with service providers from across the yachting industry, including luxury boatbuilders, crew recruiters, yacht designers and naval architects, yacht marketing specialists, and the world’s leading yacht brokerages, such as Northrop & Johnson .

But which yachts reigned supreme at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show ? Here, we look at some of the largest head-turning vessels

Her many onboard amenities mirror the world’s finest charter yachts, including a glass-fronted swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness suite, a swim platform, and an abundance of water toys.

Highlights include three distinct exterior lounge areas designed to maximise time on the water, with cushioned sun loungers and oversized sun beds, a gym, a large swim platform, luxurious staterooms, and an oversized tender garage housing two tenders and a host of water toys, including a jellyfish pool.

When you're choosing a place to live, the cost of living matters — a lot. While some states offer an affordable lifestyle, others place serious pressure on people's wallets year in and year out. So, which is the most expensive state to live in ? And which other states should you avoid if you're worried about your budget?

A team of analysts working for Forbes attempted to formulate answers to these very questions by wading through the most recent data available from The Council for Community and Economic Research, KFF (formerly the Kaiser Family Foundation), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Living Wage Calculator and the United States Census Bureau.

The figures they uncovered brought into focus a picture of people's yearly expenses for housing, health care, taxes, food and transportation state by state.

Let's examine the analysts' research into cost of living and disposable income, plus data from other reports, to learn more about the 10 most expensive states in the U.S., starting with the priciest.

1. Hawaii: $55,491

With a staggering $55,491 as its cost of living, Hawaii tops the list as the most expensive state in the nation.

This Pacific Ocean paradise, known for its breathtaking landscapes and tropical climate, also comes with a hefty price tag. The high demand for housing, coupled with limited supply, drives up housing prices, making it one of the most costly places to call home. The average monthly mortgage payment there is a whopping $5,770.

According to the governor's office, as of 2023, housing costs across the state of Hawaii were 2.7 times the national average, and median prices for single-family homes and condos — $850,000 and $600,000, respectively — had tripled since the 1990s.

Despite the state's scenic beauty, residents often struggle with the extra expenses associated with everyday life. Transportation costs average $7,500 annually, and the average rent there ($2,423 per month) is higher than the national average ( $2,115 per month ), contributing to the state’s high cost of living.

Although the median household income in the state is $92,458 , the high expenses mean Hawaiian residents have the least amount of disposable income (only about $9,500 each year) compared to the rest of the country.

2. Massachusetts: $53,860

Massachusetts is the second-most expensive state to live in. Known for its rich history, prestigious educational institutions and vibrant cities, the state offers a high quality of life but at a steep price.

The median home values, especially in cities like Boston, are far above the national average, contributing to the high cost of living. Between 2023 and 2024, the median price for a single-family home in the state increased from about $560,000 to about $610,000 .

However, the state also boasts high salaries (about $80,300 on average) and a relatively high median household income ( $94,488 annually ).

When all is said and done, Massachusetts residents have a little more than $26,000 left over, ranking the state fifth in terms of disposable income. Still, the housing costs, healthcare costs, and utility costs are significant, making Massachusetts a costly place to live.

3. California: $53,171

California is synonymous with high costs. From the bustling tech hub of Silicon Valley to the expensive city of San Francisco, California's housing market is among the most competitive in the country.

The high cost of housing, driven by high demand, pushes many residents to the brink. Two-thirds of California residents pay more than $2,000 per month in rent , with nearly 15 percent of all residents paying $3,000 or more.

The state offers a high median household income ($91,551 annually), and the difference between income and expenses often leaves residents with around $24,000 in disposable income. However, California also has some of the highest costs for utilities, health care and transportation, firmly solidifying its place on this list.

4. New York: $49,623

While it may not be the most expensive state, the cost of living in New York, especially in New York City, is still exorbitant. Housing prices there are among the highest in the country: 30 percent of homes are valued between $500,000 and $999,999, and 11 percent of homes are valued at over $1 million.

On top of this, property taxes in New York are significant, with the median annual property taxes for single-family homes above $5,000 .

New York residents enjoy a relatively high median household income ( $79,557 annually ), and they're ranked second in terms of disposable income — about $29,00 per year. However, the high costs of miscellaneous goods and services, utilities and healthcare still make life in the Empire State a financial challenge for many.

5. New Jersey: $49,511

Despite being a small state, New Jersey has big housing costs and property taxes, which are some of the highest in the country. A whopping 25 percent of residents pay $2,000 or more in rent each month — at least $700 more than the national average.

And in 2023, no other state had a higher median property tax bill with regard to single-family homes; the average property taxes ranged from about $4,600 to $11,350 , depending on the county.

However, New Jersey's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia offers high earning opportunities. The median household income is just over $96,000, and residents enjoy a disposable income of about $24,474 each year (the 10th highest out of all the states).

Still, the high cost of living there would likely cause anyone to pause when considering whether or not to make New Jersey their new home.

6. Alaska: $48,670

Alaska might be known for its breathtaking natural beauty and vast wilderness, but the state's remote location contributes to high transportation costs, and the cold climate leads to significant expenses for utilities such as heating and natural gas .

Alaska has the highest utility bills in the country, totaling about $570 per month. That's $140 more than the national average.

The median household income in Alaska is $88,121, while the average disposable income is $21,219. Despite there being no state income tax, the high costs of goods, services, and healthcare are a heavy responsibility for many who live there.

For example, the average cost of health insurance premiums for employer-sponsored coverage in Alaska was nearly $23,000 in 2019 , much higher than the national average of about $20,500.

7. Maryland: $48,235

Maryland's proximity to Washington, D.C., and its strong job market (the median household income there is about $95,000 ) make it an attractive place to live. But the high cost of housing and property taxes can be daunting.

If you want to buy a home there, you'd better have deep pockets, since one-third of the houses are valued at half a million dollars or more. On top of this challenge, the state is experiencing a housing crisis, being short nearly 100,000 homes .

Healthcare costs and utility costs in Maryland are also above the national average, further contributing to the state's high living index. Despite these costs, Maryland's residents enjoy a relatively modest disposable income of $25,397 annually.

8. Washington: $47,231

The booming tech industry in Washington state — particularly in cities like Seattle — has driven up housing prices and the cost of living. The state has seen a significant increase in housing prices, with the median home price reaching approximately $615,000 , which is well above the national average ( $412,000 as of Q2 2024 ).

The state's overall utility costs, including electricity and natural gas, are actually about 7 percent lower per month than the national average. However, the state has the fourth-highest average combined state and local sales tax rates, at 9.38 percent , adding significantly to the cost of goods and services.

While it may be the eighth-most expensive state to live in, Washington residents enjoy a median household income of about $91,000 , and they have about $31,000 in disposable income each year — more than any other state.

9. Connecticut: $46,912

Known for its picturesque small towns and proximity to New York City, Connecticut offers a high quality of life but at a high cost. The state's property taxes are the 12th-highest in the nation at 6.35 percent , and the monthly average for utility bills comes to $533 — 24 percent higher than the national average.

This is due in part to the fact that the state faces some of the highest energy costs in the country, with residential electricity rates 77 percent above the national average, driven by both demand and infrastructure needs.

With a median household income of $88,429 and a disposable income of $26,825, Connecticut residents manage to maintain a relatively high standard of living despite the steep costs they're up against.

10. Oregon: $46,193

Oregon's housing market has seen significant price increases in recent years, with the median home price approaching $525,000 , largely due to high demand and limited housing supply.

The state’s median household income is approximately $76,000 , with residents managing a disposable income of $20,512, perhaps due in part because Oregon (like Alaska) doesn't have statewide sales tax .

That said, it has the fifth highest income tax rate in the nation, at 9.9 percent for single filers earning more than $125,000 or joint filers over $250,000, which impacts residents' take-home pay significantly.

Despite these high costs, Oregon is known for its strong environmental policies and high quality of life, so it continues to attract residents who value sustainability and enjoy outdoor activities.

Lightyear was almost cheap given how big its concept was and how much earlier movies cost the same amount to make, but it failed to live up to the name of its iconic title character.

8 Toy Story 4 (2019)

Interestingly, Toy Story 4 cost the same amount to make as Toy Story 3 , which came out almost 10 years earlier. While costs should supposedly go down as animation techniques are perfected and streamlined, Toy Story pushes the boundaries of the characters' physical forms and the setting's details with each new movie. Toy Story 4 features more plush toys than any of its predecessors, with the fluffy stuffed animals Ducky and Bunny demanding more work.

Toy Story 4

Josh Cooley directed the fourth installment in the Toy Story series and the direct sequel to 2010's Toy Story 3. Once again starring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Annie Potts, 2019's Toy Story 4 sees Woody struggling to adapt to his new life as one of Bonnie's toys, as Andy heads off to college.

Meanwhile, the carnival and antique shop setting included a lot of minuscule features for production design to figure out, while the cast expanded to include even more A-listers. However, Toy Story has yet to see a financially unsuccessful movie, and Toy Story 4 brought in more than enough profits to make up for its budget. What remains to be seen is if costs will finally go down for Toy Story 5 , or if the Pixar artists will once again come up with something clever that keeps it as an expensive project.

7 Incredibles 2 (2018)

They spared no expense in making everything and everyone in this movie look as sleek as possible.

The cast of major stars all returned for Incredibles 2 , along with some new ones to increase costs. However, Incredibles 2 possibly cost so much because it was doing justice to concepts that arguably were just ahead of what Pixar was capable of animating at the time of the first movie's production. The Incredibles was Pixar's first movie to focus primarily on people, and people with unique physicalities at that. They had avoided showing humans as much as possible in Toy Story and Finding Nemo when toys and fish were easier to create.

The Incredibles 2

The sequel to Pixar's The Incredibles, Incredibles 2 follows the Parr family as they continue to fight crime as Supers. In a world that has only recently rediscovered its need for superpowered heroes, building trust is key. However, when Elastigirl uncovers a villainous plot to discredit the Super community, the family investigates, putting the Parrs in more danger than ever before. 

The people in The Incredibles look just a little bit creepy, while Pixar was over-capable when it came time to make Incredibles 2 . They spared no expense in making everything and everyone in this movie look as sleek as possible. Incredibles 2 was met with the success of most sequels to Pixar's classics, prompting a huge Father's Day weekend family event that brought old fans out in droves for the superhero family's next adventure.

6 Finding Dory (2016)

Ellen DeGeneres reported that she was paid "$75,000 for three years of work" to voice Dory in Finding Nemo (via Business Insider ). The Ellen DeGeneres Show premiered the same year Finding Nemo came out, the beginning of her campaign to make a Finding Nemo sequel. It is a safe assumption that DeGeneres and Pixar's net worths were both much higher by the time of Finding Dory ; in addition to her salary, there is whatever they paid for Signorey Weaver's voice.

The sequel to Pixar's Finding Nemo, Finding Dory focuses on the character of Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) as she sets off to locate her parents. Still living with amnesia after the events of Finding Nemo, Dory is unable to remember her parents, but an unexpected flashback prompts her to find them. Her journey takes her not only across the ocean but also out of it, enlisting all manner of marine life to help her in her quest. 

Pixar has successfully built an animation empire with incredible stories, building on some of the most popular franchises with compelling sequels.

Many more impressive stars joined the cast for the highly anticipated sequel, which included the challenging animation of the big blue sea, as well as the aquatic settings within the aquarium. Despite Finding Dory 's weaknesses, pure nostalgia carried it to the $1 billion mark at the box office. Given how beloved Finding Nemo is, it would be very difficult for any movie remotely related to it to fail.

5 Monsters University (2013)

Billy Crystal and John Goodman were always huge stars for Monsters, Inc. to have recruited, let alone get back for a prequel. Additionally, like with Elemental , it is hard to use standard animation techniques for background characters in a world like that of Monsters University when everyone has a unique design. Monsters University is an average addition to the franchise that didn't necessarily need to happen, but it made a sizable profit at the box office.

This prequel to Monsters, Inc. takes viewers back to a time before James P. "Sully" Sullivan and Michael "Mike" Wazowski formed the most successful "scarer" team in Monsters, Inc. history. The film chronicles the pair's Monsters University origins, where 18-year old Sulley and Mike first meet and become competitive rivals. However, as the two monsters go head-to-head, a larger dilemma forces them together, forging a lifelong friendship.

New movies attached to something from the Pixar golden age like Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 are almost guaranteed to find success. What's interesting about Monsters University is it is a prequel rather than a sequel, promising the fun setting of a university for monsters rather than a workplace. It loses the novelty and emotional variety of its predecessor, depending too much on prequel clichés, but is a serviceable movie.

4 Cars 2 (2011)

Cars 2 saw new actors, more settings, more races, and everything in between. However, it is also essentially James Bond meets Cars , racking up costs where some of the secret agent special features are concerned. With explosions to go around, Cars 2 had its work cut out for it. Unfortunately for Pixar, this movie did not live up to their expectations or fans' fondness for the down-to-earth original movie. Cars 2 technically made a profit, but this is where anything good to say about it ends.

Following the first film, racecar Lightning McQueen and tow truck Mater travel to Japan for Lightning to compete in the Grand Prix. However, Mater stumbles into the world of international espionage, and must work with two British spies to bring down a criminal who threatens the race.

Cars 2 is generally considered one of the worst Pixar movies and at least its worst sequel. It didn't have as much time to build up nostalgia as some of the studio's other legacy sequels and completely abandoned the tone and themes of the original. Pixar at least learned from its mistakes with Cars 2 and returned to a story about fame and career in Cars 3 , not one of Pixar's best movies but at least better than the installment that came before it.

3 Toy Story 3 (2010)

Pixar went for bigger and better with Toy Story 3 . The human characters finally look like real people, the cast list expands, and there are more complex settings than ever before. The toys admittedly move around a lot in the first two movies, but upon revisiting them, it is possible to see how the settings' designs are much simpler. It paid off when Toy Story 3 was received as the perfect, then assumed to be the end of the franchise, which was nominated for Best Picture.

The third installment in the Toy Story franchise, Toy Story 3, continues the story of Woody and Buzz as they come to terms with the inevitable. With their owner, Andy, growing older and no longer playing with his toys, Woody, Buzz, and co. are given a new lease on life when they end up in a local daycare center. However, things there aren't as they seem, and the toys must work together to find their way home.

Sunnyside Daycare has a lot of moving pieces, while a bigger variety of toys appear. Toy Story 3 was also the first Pixar movie to use the then brand-new Dolby Surround 7.1 technology, costing them extra dollars (via SlashFilm ). However, Toy Story 3 is one of the most tear-jerking Pixar movies there is, depicting all the feelings about growing up and moving away through the eyes of Andy's toys, and it was worth Pixar spending the extra money to make it special.

2 The Lion King (2019)

Movie's budget: $260 million.

Most people can probably guess why Jon Favreau's The Lion King cost so much to make , a movie that is labeled as "animated" due to all the characters being rendered on computers — even if they are designed to look much more realistic than regular animation. In comparison, Favreau's The Jungle Book cost $175 million . The combination of the movie's accoladed cast and its groundbreaking technology drove costs far above even Pixar's highest budget.

The Lion King

Jon Favreau directs this 2019 live-action adaptation of Walt Disney's popular film, The Lion King. Starring Donald Glover, Alfre Woodard, Seth Rogen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, this release follows young Simba as he grows up to become a mighty lion and take vengeance on his dastardly uncle, Scar.

The Lion King is a direct product of the Disney live-action remake era, which keeps bringing in profits despite some annoyance among audiences. However, no one can deny that The Lion King is a huge accomplishment of CGI and design and that the cast of new and old Lion King actors is very impressive. Disney felt emboldened enough by its success to make the Mufasa prequel, utilizing the same techniques.

1 Tangled (2010)

The most expensive animated movie of all time label goes not to Pixar nor a crazy "live-action" feature, but the now-classic romp Tangled , Disney's first 3D-animated Disney Princess movie. Tangled went through a lot of rewrites and an extensive production cycle due to the animation of Rapunzel's hair, racking up costs (via CBR ). After the lackluster period of the 2000s for Disney Animation, they were committed to getting this movie right — and were successful, setting the stage for Frozen three years later.

An adaptation of the fairytale of Rapunzel, Disney's Tangled follows the long-haired princess as she journeys to discover her real identity. Kidnapped as a child by the evil Mother Gothel in order to exploit the healing properties of her magical hair, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) has lived her whole life isolated in a tower. A chance encounter with a smooth-talking fugitive called Flynn Ryder (Zachary Levi) sees Rapunzel venture out into the dangerous world to find the kingdom of Corona and unlock the secrets of her past.

3D animation had proven to be risky at Disney with the failures of Treasure Island and Meet the Robinsons in the 2000s. The studio spent a lot of money on Tangled , but this was arguably a long-term investment when figuring out this technology meant the success of later movies. It still may come as a surprise that Tangled is the most expensive animated movie ever made, but this is partially because it was made at a time and by people who were still learning their way around this animation style.

The Richard Mille Prototype 3 Reference RM27-01 Rafael Nadal was sold for 1,270,000 CHF in May 2024. This model showcased an exceptional blend of innovation and athleticism. A product of the collaboration between Richard Mille and tennis legend Rafael Nadal, this model represented the culmination of extensive research and development. Weighing only 19 grams with the strap, it was one of the lightest tourbillon watches ever produced. The movement, weighing just 3.5 grams, was rigorously tested by Nadal throughout his tennis season, proving its resilience against extreme shocks and movements.

Powered by the Calibre RMAL2 automatic movement with 38 jewels, this model boasted unparalleled precision and reliability. A standout feature was the innovative rotor geometry adjustment mechanism which was activated by a pusher at 7 o'clock. This allowed the watch to transition into Sport Mode by halting rotor movement during intense activities.

The Richard Mille watch was encased in Quartz TPT, a material renowned for its lightweight and durable properties. Complemented by a rubber strap and titanium double-folding clasp, the watch offered a secure fit and stylish, robust, and elegant design. Created in collaboration with French rally driver Sébastien Loeb, the Richard Mille watch was a testament to Loeb's unparalleled success in the World Rally Championship. The Richard Mille Reference RM015 was sold for 2,159,000 HKD in April 2024. Known as the Tourbillon Marine, this model was originally designed for the crew of the Richard Mille racing yacht, Scorcha. Crafted from 18k pink gold, the Richard Mille watch featured a skeletonized dial that displayed the intricate workings of the Calibre RM015 movement with 29 jewels. The watch incorporated a dual time complication, essential for managing time during ocean races that spanned multiple time zones.

Additional features included a tourbillon, torque indicator, and power reserve indicator, all housed within a 48mm x 39mm case. The crown featured a pusher mechanism similar to Rolex's Ring Command bezel, allowing for easy adjustments. This combination of functionality and design made the RM015 a valuable tool for ocean racers and a symbol of Richard Mille watch engineering excellence.

5. Richard Mille RM002 AF WG White Gold Semi-Skeletonized Circa 2008, 241,300 CHF 

The Richard Mille RM002 was sold for 241,300 CHF in May 2024. Introduced in 2002, it was the second watch ever created by the brand and built upon the success of its predecessor. The Richard Mille RM002 introduced the world's first function selector, marking a significant innovation in watchmaking. This model featured a white gold case and semi-skeletonized dial, housing the Calibre RM002 V2 manual winding movement with 30 jewels.

The Richard RM002-V2 was released in 2005 and further advanced Richard Mille's use of materials with a carbon nanofiber baseplate, offering exceptional thermometric stability and chemical inertness. The function selector was positioned at 4 o'clock and controlled the watch's operations including winding, time-setting, and a neutral position for free rotation. Barcelona’s new away top revealed as most expensive across the world

On Wednesday, Barcelona unveiled their new away kit, which has proven to be a big hit amongst online supporters. It is predominantly black, with slight twinges of the Blaugrana colours.

The kit went on sale soon after its launch, and the prices took many by surprise. The basic shirt costs €114.99, with the player version rising to €184.99. As per MD , the former is the most expensive basic football top that can be bought from a club’s official store, which it costing €15 more than Real Madrid’s most expensive.

The fact that the kit is a hit with supporters will be of delightful news to Barcelona president, who will be hopeful of many, many sales that would help the club with its financial predicament.

There will be many supporters that disagree with the high pricing, but Barcelona will undoubtedly see it as necessary because of the problems they are having financially. It remains to be seen how much these sales will help.

The most expensive yachts for sale at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024

The highlight of the superyacht calendar, this year's Monaco Yacht Show is fast approaching – and brokers are bringing their best. Those exploring the docks at Port Hercule will be able to visit and purchase world-class builds from pedigree shipyards and studios from across the globe, including World Superyacht Awards winners, social media sensations and builds capable of exploring the Antarctic.

BOAT takes a closer look at the lineup, beginning with the world's most expensive superyacht ...

Builder : Oceanco Length : 105.3m

The most expensive yacht for sale at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show is H3 . Her three-year rebuild, beginning in 2020, won her international acclaim and a World Superyacht Award . Virtually nothing was left from her previous life as Indian Empress except the hull, which had also been extended a further 10 metres. The refit also added a piano in the main saloon which previously belonged to Elton John – it's the one on which he wrote the album Songs from the West Coast . Her amenities are too numerous to mention but some standouts include a large pool with a waterfall feature, a huge spa and wellness area with a nail salon and a climate-controlled winter garden in the owner's suite.

H3 is asking €295,000,000 with Edmiston .

Builder : Oceanco Length : 90m

Another World Superyacht Awards winner , Dar is inspired by a hammerhead shark and features sinuous lines, wide set wing stations and a mast modelled after a dorsal fin, courtesy of Luiz De Basto . The nautical theme continues indoors, including a school of fish modelled from Venetian plaster which winds its way up the stairs – one of several pieces made by DKT Artworks . But Dar is renowned for her extensive use of glass. There are 390 square metres in her superstructure alone, measuring 30 millimetres thick at its heaviest point.

Dar is asking €208,000,000 with Large Yacht Corp .

Builder : Amels Length : 77.8m

Tasked with a brief to "defy convention and find ways to connect with the ocean", naval architect Espen Øino and interior designer François Zuretti came together to create Energy . The design duo first worked together on Blohm & Voss ' 74.5-metre Eco , now Zeus , with Martin Francis in the 1980s. The superyacht has an impressive volume of 2,885GT which houses accommodation for 14 guests, an upper deck aft pool, a spacious gym, a large beach club with spa and a glass elevator, to name a few. She has only been used privately since new and was recently selected as BOAT International 's brokerage boat of the month .

Energy is asking €199,000,000 with Burgess and Cecil Wright and Partners .

Builder : Abeking & Rasmussen Length : 78.4m

Amaryllis is best known for her lavish Art Deco interiors, designed by Reymond Langton and featuring Macassar ebony furniture, chandeliers and custom floral panels. She can sleep twelve guests across six cabins, including an owner's cabin with a clawfoot bed, lime marble en suite and 180-degree ocean views. Standout features include a piano lounge and a cinema suite, while her beach club boasts a dedicated spa with a sauna, steam room, plunge pool and massage room. Amaryllis last underwent a major refit in 2019 and will be looking fresh on the docks for prospective buyers.

Amaryllis is asking €89,000,000 with Burgess , Merle Wood & Associates and Moravia Yachting .

Planet Nine

Builder : Admiral - The Italian Sea Group Length : 73.2m

Planet Nine is another recognisable build with her militaristic, gunmetal-grey exterior by British designer Tim Heywood . But don't be fooled: her interiors are airy and contemporary, styled by Mlinaric, Henry and Zervudachi and custom-built by German luxury outfitter Fitz. Accommodation is across eight cabins, including the owner’s suite with massive windows and doors out to balconies, another master suite on the main deck and a VIP with a private outside area on the bridge deck. Key features include a commercial-standard helipad, two large beach clubs and a sundeck spa pool with water retention tank.

Planet Nine is asking €79,500,000 with Fraser .

Builder : Amels Length : 60m

Another Tim Heywood design, Moonstone is the second unit in the Amels 200 series and was sold less than five months before her delivery. The Dutch shipyard is known for its 'risky' on spec builds but, as Damen Yachting sales manager Jorrit Pilaar said at the time: "We have never finished a boat without a client." Accommodation is across six cabins, including a VIP on the bridge deck and a generous main deck owners’ suite with a balcony and Mongolian marble bathroom. A sundeck Jacuzzi, gym and massage room is the standout leisure feature, though the superyacht's multi-beam sonar system and 3D ocean floor mapping will appeal to certain buyers.

Moonstone is asking €74,900,000 with Superyacht Sales and Charter .

Builder : Sanlorenzo Length : 61.5m

The first 62Steel model, Lemon Tree was developed to slot in between Sanlorenzo's 57Steel and its flagship, the 73Steel . The superyacht is recognised by her "sober", understated exterior but best known for her owner's suite, situated on the upper deck with oversized windows, a study and a private terrace with swimming pool. Her two large garages were also a design focus, positioned in the middle of the yacht so that launching and retrieving the 9.5-metre tender and toys would not interfere with Lemon Tree 's spacious beach club zone.

Lemon Tree is asking €59,500,000 with Y.CO .

Builder : Astilleros Armón Length : 68.2m

Delivered in 2021, Wayfinder is the second unit in the Shadowcat series and builds on the capability of the shipyard's flagship catamaran, Hodor , which was delivered in 2019 . With a 14-metre beam, Wayfinder has plenty of space for a helicopter deck – doubling as a pickleball court or events space – plus a hangar for an EC-145 and can store vast amounts of food supplies, dive equipment and water toys. She also sports a fully-equipped medical suite, 12 individual staff cabins and quarters for 20 crew in 12 additional cabins. The superyacht is reportedly owned by the former managing director of Microsoft, Bill Gates.

Wayfinder is asking €55,000,000 with Edmiston.

Builder : Icon Yachts Length : 67.5m

Loon is both one of most recognisable superyachts on the social media scene – owed to her trend-savvy crew – and an enviable charter platform, with the broker reporting over $13 million in gross revenues in 18 months.  On the main deck, the raised pool is the crowd pleaser – panels of glass filter light down to the beach club which was extended considerably during a 2014 refit with Icon Yachts . Accommodation is across a main deck master suite with a private lounge, a VIP suite on the upper deck and lower deck cabins with direct access to said beach club. Exterior design is by British studio RWD , with an interior by Studio Linse .

Loon is asking $47,500,000 with Merle Wood & Associates.

Serenissima I

Builder : Mengi Yay Length : 47.5m

Serenissima I is one of the newest entries on the list, with her delivery announced in August 2024 . She is the first unit in a new Mengi Yay series designed by Italian firm Nuvolari Lenard . The yacht was commissioned by an experienced owner who wanted the deck and interior space of a larger vessel in a Med-friendly package, with "showstopper features" that include an elevator, a dedicated owner's deck and "one of the largest [sundecks] in this category of yachts". The model also has a main saloon complete with a balcony and a wine cellar.

Serenissima I is asking €35,800,000 with Northrop & Johnson .

Queen Mavia

Builder : Oceanco Length : 62m

Queen Mavia was delivered in 2001 to an exterior by Evan K. Another highlight is the bridge deck, reserved exclusively for the owner and featuring a private lounge and full onyx stone bathroom.

Queen Mavia is asking €34,900,000 with Fraser.

Builder : Perini Navi Length : 56m

Fidelis is the tenth and final unit in Perini Navi's 56M series and "has never stopped sailing since she was delivered," according to the shipyard. The owners were extensive charterers before commissioning the sailing yacht, which was nominated at the 2015 World Superyacht Awards . She has undergone an extensive refit programme, most recently in 2023 when she received a hull wrap in La Spezia, Italy. Key features include an outdoor sunken cockpit, a flybridge with sunbeds and al fresco dining and balconies to starboard and port.

Fidelis is asking €32,000,000 with Edmiston.

Builder : CRN Length : 60m

Delivered in 2011, Aifer emerged from an extensive refit at Icon Yachts in 2019 with a new exterior paint job and various interior improvements, including a new bridge. Her main social hubs are found in the main saloon – arranged with two large settees, armchairs and formal dining for up to 12 guests – and the sundeck, which comes complete with sunloungers and a Jacuzzi flanked with sunpads. Accommodation includes a  master cabin located on the main deck with an office, his and hers walk-in wardrobes, sofa area and balcony.

Aifer is asking €31,500,000 with Camper & Nicholsons and IYC .

Builder : SilverYachts Length : 73.3m

Dragonfly was hailed as the fastest, most fuel-efficient long-range cruiser when she was delivered in 2009, with a transatlantic range of 22 knots. Her outdoor cinema, large sun pad that can convert into a dance floor and swim platform – dubbed the "ultimate toy launchpad" by the broker – are the major crowd pleasers. She was also commended for her contribution to the disaster relief effort in Vanuatu after Hurricane Pam devastated the island in 2015. Exterior design is courtesy of Espen Øino , while her rich, ambient interiors are by Danielo Silvestrin .

Dragonfly is asking €27,000,000 with Y.CO.

Black Legend

Builder : Overmarine Length : 49.9m

Black Legend is designed inside and out by Italian shipyard Overmaine and is "one of the most iconic Mangusta yachts ever built", according to the broker. That moniker is worth a visit alone, as are her Asian-inspired interiors, which incorporate a rich palette of red, black and gold. On the lower deck, the full-beam owner's suite features a private study and dressing area, which is further complemented by a gym, cinema, and three guest cabins, including a VIP cabin. She was commissioned by a highly experienced owner and has only been used under this original ownership since her delivery in 2017.

Black Legend is asking €26,900,000 with Camper & Nicholsons.

Builder : Palmer Johnson Length : 52.4m

Delivered in 2016, Sanam was the final unit built at Palmer Johnson's US facility, making her a unique addition to this year's lineup. The yacht has the same striking Nuvolari Lenard lines and low-profile design as her sisters DB9 and Bliss and the she has only ever been used privately since commission. Entertainment-optimised features include a pair of pools, one of which sits on the foredeck and spans 24 square metres. The second is located on the sundeck, adjacent to a shaded seating area with drop-down cinema screen, gym equipment and sunpad spread.

Sanam is asking €26,900,000 with Worth Avenue Yachts .

Builder : Baglietto Length : 39.8m

Club M w as designed for an owner with 30 years of boating experience who spent three years on the design process, visiting and sounding out designers and yards in Europe. The effort paid off in more ways than one, with the superyacht now having a Neptune and a Design & Innovation Award to her name. Highlights include a main deck owner's cabin with an extending balcony, a glass-sided Jacuzzi and a gym on the lower deck. Hidden ladders allow crew members to access decks without disturbing guests, with privacy being high on the owner's design brief.

Club M is asking €19,900,000 with Christie Yachts .

The Richard Mille Prototype 3 Reference RM27-01 Rafael Nadal was sold for 1,270,000 CHF in May 2024. This model showcased an exceptional blend of innovation and athleticism. A product of the collaboration between Richard Mille and tennis legend Rafael Nadal, this model represented the culmination of extensive research and development. Weighing only 19 grams with the strap, it was one of the lightest tourbillon watches ever produced. The movement, weighing just 3.5 grams, was rigorously tested by Nadal throughout his tennis season, proving its resilience against extreme shocks and movements.

Constructed from grade 5 titanium and aluminum-lithium alloy, the movement was suspended by braided steel cables, allowing it to withstand accelerations of up to 5000 G. The case was crafted from grey anthracite polymer injected with carbon nanotubes to ensure exceptional durability. Limited to 50 pieces worldwide and further rarefied by its prototype status, this piece was a coveted collector's item.

2. Richard Mille Reference RM35-03 Rafael Nadal Quartz TPT Circa 2023, 508,000 CHF

The Richard Mille Reference RM35-03 Rafael Nadal Quartz TPT sold for 508,000 CHF in May 2024. This model captivated collectors with its skeletonized dial and advanced technology. Powered by the Calibre RMAL2 automatic movement with 38 jewels, this model boasted unparalleled precision and reliability. A standout feature was the innovative rotor geometry adjustment mechanism which was activated by a pusher at 7 o'clock. This allowed the watch to transition into Sport Mode by halting rotor movement during intense activities.

The Richard Mille watch was encased in Quartz TPT, a material renowned for its lightweight and durable properties. Complemented by a rubber strap and titanium double-folding clasp, the watch offered a secure fit and stylish, robust, and elegant design. Its association with Rafael Nadal further heightened its desirability among collectors.

3. Richard Mille Reference RM36-01 CA TI AO G-Sensor Tourbillon Sébastien Loeb Circa 2019, 324,000 USD

The Richard Mille Reference RM36-01 CA TI AO G-Sensor Tourbillon was sold for 324,000 USD in June 2024. Created in collaboration with French rally driver Sébastien Loeb, the Richard Mille watch was a testament to Loeb's unparalleled success in the World Rally Championship. This model was limited to just 30 units during its 2014 run. The watch's defining feature was the rotary G-force sensor, capable of detecting up to 6 Gs and providing a vital safety measure for drivers.

Encased in carbon nanotubes and titanium, the RM36-01 featured a manual-winding tourbillon movement to ensure precision and durability. The G-sensor was adjustable via the brown ceramic bezel to allow drivers to monitor both lateral and longitudinal forces encountered during rallies. Complete with original accessories, this timepiece offered a unique blend of performance and innovation.

4. Richard Mille Reference RM015 Pink Gold Skeletonized Dual Time Circa 2008, 2,159,000 HKD

The Richard Mille Reference RM015 was sold for 2,159,000 HKD in April 2024. Known as the Tourbillon Marine, this model was originally designed for the crew of the Richard Mille racing yacht, Scorcha. Crafted from 18k pink gold, the Richard Mille watch featured a skeletonized dial that displayed the intricate workings of the Calibre RM015 movement with 29 jewels. The watch incorporated a dual time complication, essential for managing time during ocean races that spanned multiple time zones.

Additional features included a tourbillon, torque indicator, and power reserve indicator, all housed within a 48mm x 39mm case. The crown featured a pusher mechanism similar to Rolex's Ring Command bezel, allowing for easy adjustments. This combination of functionality and design made the RM015 a valuable tool for ocean racers and a symbol of Richard Mille watch engineering excellence.

5. Richard Mille RM002 AF WG White Gold Semi-Skeletonized Circa 2008, 241,300 CHF 

The Richard Mille RM002 was sold for 241,300 CHF in May 2024. Introduced in 2002, it was the second watch ever created by the brand and built upon the success of its predecessor. The Richard Mille RM002 introduced the world's first function selector, marking a significant innovation in watchmaking. This model featured a white gold case and semi-skeletonized dial, housing the Calibre RM002 V2 manual winding movement with 30 jewels.

The Richard RM002-V2 was released in 2005 and further advanced Richard Mille's use of materials with a carbon nanofiber baseplate, offering exceptional thermometric stability and chemical inertness. The function selector was positioned at 4 o'clock and controlled the watch's operations including winding, time-setting, and a neutral position for free rotation. Complete with its original presentation case and documentation, the RM002-V2 was a pivotal model in the Richard Mille brand's history and embodied the brand's commitment to innovation and excellence.
