How Much Do Superyachts Cost?

who owns 2 ladies yacht

When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.

These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.

So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.

The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.

Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.

Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.

The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.

Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.

While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.

The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.

Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.

Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.

From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.

In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.

While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.

No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.

Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye

When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.

For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.

Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.

In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.

This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.

Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.

For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.

Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.

These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.

Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.

Final Thoughts

Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and status, and the list of yacht owners reads like a who’s who of billionaires.

From the Emir of Qatar’s world-record breaking $400 million yacht to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s vessel with a helicopter pad and on-board spa, the amenities of these luxury vessels are truly stunning.

With prices ranging from $30 million to over $400 million, owning a superyacht is an expensive endeavor.

Whether you’re looking to purchase one or just curious to learn more about the owners and their amenities, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to stay up to date with the superyacht scene.

9 Stars Who Own Ultraluxurious Yachts

who owns 2 ladies yacht

Luxury doesn’t stop once you leave the land, or even at private jets. Behold the celebrity yacht, something the most opulent individuals keep on hand so they can extravagantly take to the seas at a moment’s notice. Some, like Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck or Kylie Jenner , merely charter yachts for a few weeks a year, but others, with a true commitment to the nautical lifestyle, pony up the millions it costs to buy and maintain a massive boat year after year. Below, we detail some of the best and biggest celebrity yachts (and the parties that take place aboard!).

Giorgio Armani

“I want this boat for the rest of my life, or for what remains of it,” Giorgio Armani told British Vogue during their visit to the yacht he meticulously designed himself, known as the Maín . The perfectly polished all black boat, complete with tinted windows throughout, is an impressive antidote to the sea of entirely white yachts at most docks. His previous boat, the Mariù , was equally as stylish, and he welcomed AD aboard in 2003.

Diane von Furstenberg

Image may contain Vehicle Transportation Vessel Watercraft Water Boat Waterfront Dock Port Pier and Marina

Eos , the yacht of Diane von Furstenberg and her husband Barry Diller, is said to be one of the largest in the world . The couple clearly takes advantage of all that room—just take the well documented trip to Tahiti they took with Anderson Cooper, Alison Williams, Bradley Cooper, Irina Shayk, and Andy Cohen, among others, as proof.

It’s no surprise that multibillionaire Jeff Bezos has a yacht of his own. The Amazon founder’s $500 million boat is on track to be ready this June, years after he commissioned it in 2018 . Bezos has recently faced backlash for requesting that a bridge in Rotterdam, Netherlands, be dismantled so his massive yacht can pass through the town later this year.

Andrea Bocelli

The lavish lifestyle of opera star Andrea Bocelli wouldn’t be complete without a yacht. The star singer has owned eight different vessels over the last two decades, and in 2018 he replaced his 72-foot Gamma 22 Libertas with an 86-foot-long Darwin 86 called the Stella del Nord .

Tiger Woods

Image may contain Transportation Vehicle Boat and Yacht

The Privacy.

According to Golf , Tiger Woods’s yacht Privacy is something of a second home to the athlete, who sleeps on board when he’s away from home at major championship tournaments. Nine other guests could easily sleep on the boat, and enjoy the jacuzzi, wet bar, and decompression chamber.

Just six months after buying a $2 million mini yacht, the Wajer 55s, Tom Brady spent $6 million on the Wajer 77, with a sleeping capacity of nine, more than double the first boat’s capacity. “I think the 77 will be a little more suited for what we need it for down here, which is a few more day trips and weekend trips,” Brady said in a video announcing the Wajer 77. “We spend a lot of time in the Bahamas, so going from the east coast of Florida across into the Bahamas and around the Bahamas would be really great trips for us as a family.”

David Geffen

Image may contain Transportation Vehicle Boat and Yacht

The Rising Sun.

This Cozy Connecticut Farmhouse Ups the Ante on Countryside Living

Billionaire movie and music produce r David Geffen’s $590 million yacht, the Rising Sun , easily trumps Jeff Bezos’s and the parties Geffen’s thrown onboard rival those that Diane von Fursternberg has hosted. The Obamas, Steven Spielberg, JJ Abrams, Oprah , and Julia Roberts are among the many big names who’ve rode on the Rising Sun , which reportedly counts a double-height cinema and basketball court among its list of luxurious amenities.

Tommy Hilfiger

Image may contain Transportation Vehicle Boat and Yacht

The Wajer 77.

Appropriate for the designer known for his love of red, white, and blue, Tommy Hilfiger’s yacht is named the Flag . Hilfiger has owned the boat which he calls his “most prized possession” for five years now, and over that time, he’s added his Americana-inspired touch to the classy interiors that were designed by Chahan Minassian.

Valentino Garavani

Image may contain Transportation Vehicle Boat Yacht Human and Person

The TM Blue One .

Fashion maven Valentino Garavani has owned his yacht, TM Blue One, since 1988, and yet it still remains an essential hot spot for his family and celebrity pals. The yacht is named for his parents, Teresa and Mauro, and was designed by Peter Marino, the architect who designed his New York apartment, too. Though the pastime du jour is unknown, it’s said that all guests were encouraged to take up needlepoint while on board back in the 90s.

Women on Yachts & Yachting: 3 Industry Leaders

Three industry leading women on yachts & yachting.

Historically male-dominated, the yachting industry has seen a growth in women leaders in the last few decades. To celebrate Women’s History Month, we wanted to highlight three female figures who currently have great influence on the industry. From yacht manufacturing executives to luxury interior designers, these women in yachting have already made a big impact and are poised to continue contributing to the luxury yachting space for many years to come. We have not only compiled a few of their major accomplishments but have also collected some of their insightful thoughts on yachts and the yachting industry.

Giovanna Vitelli

Executive Vice President at Azimut | Benetti Group

The daughter of Paolo Vitelli, the founder of Azimut | Benetti Group, luxury yacht manufacturing is part of the family business to Giovanna Vitelli. After joining the company in 2000, Vitelli has worked her way up to executive vice president and become the leader of product strategy and development. Respected for her grasp of what modern yacht owners want, she has significantly contributed to the company’s continued success. Some of her successful initiatives include streamlining the group’s management processing and partnering with renowned architects and designers outside of the yachting sphere.

“This is still very much a male directed industry because there is so much technology – engineering is one of the most fascinating and important parts of the business and this department is male dominant. Saying that, yachts are a combination of beauty and technology and on the beauty side, we’re seeing more and more ladies. There are also more women coming into the technical side, which is probably due to the new generation who don’t see one thing for men and one for women. But I think that traditionally, and in Italy for sure, the presence of women at high levels is still an open issue that’s not solved yet. At our company, I don’t actively push to hire more women but I think we are more open minded than a usual Italian industrial company.” – Giovanna Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group Executive Vice President 1

Sylvie Ernoult

Show Director at Cannes Yachting Festival

As show director of one of the largest and most prestigious annual yachting events in Europe, Sylvie Ernoult must ensure that hundreds of boats and tens of thousands of industry professionals and yachting enthusiast safely arrive at Cannes for the festival. The event, ideally located on the French Riviera, celebrates the latest product launches and company developments from the yachting world. Ernoult has organized the event for the past eight years to great success. While the Cannes Yachting Festival has to skip 2020 due to COVID-19, Ernoult is organizing its comeback for September 2021.

“Luxury is often what we want but don’t have. For me, time is luxury. My job is certainly extremely exciting but very demanding. My luxury is having time for my family, my friends and if we can also spend time on a boat – even better!” – Sylvie Ernoult, Cannes Yachting Festival Show Director 2

Zaniz Jakubowski

Founder at Zaniz Studio

As founder of the London and Tuscany based Zaniz Studio, Zaniz Jakubowski has designed a number of high-profile luxury homes and yachts across the U.S. and the Middle East. Jakubowski is a private yet incredibly accomplished multi-discipline designer. One of the most well-known residential urban commercial and residential projects she oversaw the design for is Trump Tower. After branching out to nautical projects, Jakubowski has worked on a growing number of luxury vessels including ocean liners SS Norway and Queen Elizabeth 2. Her studio also did the interior and exterior design for the 108 meter gigayacht M/Y Luminosity from Benetti.

“It's like designing someone's private island,” she says. “People live differently onboard a boat compared to a house. You need to fulfil all the functions in case they spend extended periods onboard. You have to consider things like adequate food stores and how to get vehicles on and off the boat. If I need cranes, I don't want them exposed so I need them to fit into the profile seamlessly. All those things become critical when you can’t simply go outside.” – Zaniz Jakubowski, Zaniz Studio Founder 3
