43m Orion One reaches construction milestone

A construction milestone has been reached on the 43-metre Orion One , currently being built at Orion Yachts ' facility in Yalova, Turkey. The hull and superstructure are now complete, with work on the electrical systems, piping and insulation underway. Delivery is scheduled for the end of 2025.

Red Yacht Design is responsible for the interior and exterior design of the 480GT yacht, characterised by a flared bow, cascading aft decks and generous lines of glazing.

Interior renderings reveal the use of light woods and a neutral colour scheme offset by aquamarine and emerald details.

"The choice of light colours, the playful infusion of tones, and the thoughtful incorporation of contemporary elements aim to provide a serene yet dynamic setting for discerning yacht enthusiasts," added Cana Gokhan of Red Yacht Design.

There is a total of five cabins including the owner's cabin, arranged in a way that makes Orion One suitable for use as a charter yacht .

Naval architecture on the new yacht has been completed by Alfa Marine Engineering. Special consideration has been given to the use of al fresco areas, with key features including a foredeck sunpad area and Portuguese bridge, plus a sundeck with a unique waterfall installation that feeds water into the dip pool.

Orion One will be the first vessel built under the Orion Yachts brand, the superyacht branch of Hersek Gemi . 

In recent news, Nebula Yacht turned the hull on its 63.5-metre project All About U, which promises to "reimagine conventional norms" with its layout inspired by sailing vessels. Red Yacht Design is responsible for the interiors.

O’RION is a fabulous, well-designed charter yacht built by Star Moschini Italian Yachts in 2004 and refitted by Golden Yachts in 2015. The 41 m motor yacht O’RION offers ultimate elegance and style combined with the latest technology. She is one of the most luxurious yachts on the charter market. Designed specifically for the charter market and her clientele, O’RION meets all expectations to the highest standards.

Her main salon is designed with the simplicity of pure elegance and is equipped with state-of-the-art entertainment systems.His spacious main salon area features 2 large couches as well as 2 seating corners. The adjoining dining area comfortably seats twelve guests who can enjoy the gourmet meals prepared by the chef if the galley located just forward of the dining area, serviced by the pantry.

Motor yacht O’RION can accommodate up to 12 guests in a Master, a VIP, 2 double bedded cabins and 2 twin cabins all with en suite facilities. The spacious master cabin is located on the main deck and features a desk that can be used as a boudoir or office according to guest’s needs. The ensuite bathroom is huge with a large shower steam room enclosed in glass and stone, as well as a round spa pool that looks up to the sky through its glass ceiling. The VIP suite is located on the upper deck. Guests staying in this cabin have the opportunity to enjoy the magical views from the upper deck, which direct access from the cabin. The remaining cabins are located on the lower deck and include the 2 double cabins and the 2 twin cabins. All cabins are fitted with Plasma-LCD Monitors and Theatre systems as well as high quality woods such as mahogany and madrona, tailor- made carpets and fabrics, and en-suite bathrooms with yellow and white onyx marbles.

Motor yacht O’RION also boasts spacious exterior deck areas. The aft deck features a large fixed sofa and occasional chairs long with a large table for alfresco dinning. There is an additional table on the upper deck outside the VI cabin and a large sundeck complete with Spa Pool and sun pads.

Orion 49 / Explorer

The Orion 49 / Explorer has the same hull, keel, rudder and rig as the Orion 49 / Cruiser (design 169). This version has a different deck, cockpit, deckhouse, interior and a different transom with a scope. The assignment was to design a robust and fast family cruising yacht, with a small deck saloon and suitable for sailing in cold regions.

Also for this version, we have chosen aluminum, partly for its robust looks like (this aluminum is unpainted) and partly because aluminum is an extremely solid and lightweight construction material.

Orion 49/ Explorer In order to anchor close to the shore, to sail a nice river, or to allow the mooring in a nice harbor, we have choosen for a retractable keel. Because of the keel is vertically retractable, it’s possible to sail with various drafts, wherein said steering characteristics remain the same.

Exterior This version of the Orion 49 has a smaller cockpit with one pedestal. Two winches are in the centre of the cockpit for tne main- and jibsheet.  The seats have a good backrest and sit comfortably. The entire cockpit is kept as low as possible, to give the crew in heavy seas security. For that reason, there is also created sufficient space behind the helm. The mainsheet is attached to the deck saloon, so there is no maintrack in the cockpit.

Solid Construction

It all starts with a solid foundation. As with any good quality build, you must have a great base to start from! With a tried and true hand laminated boat with a solid fiberglass hull bottom, you are sure to receive a boat that will last a lifetime. Our CNC cut stringers, bulkheads and coring ensure that all hulls are at the same level of exactness and quality we expect! Our stringers, bulkheads and tanks (fuel/water) are glassed in while the hull is still in the mold to ensure the truest results. This takes a little longer in the mold, but it is well worth the wait!

By way of background, my business interests include controlling stakes in 3 publicly traded companies which operate vessels in the 500 to 5000dwt range. On average, one new vessel a year would be added to the fleet. As a result, I have access to in-house marine architects, engineers and construction supervisors. Consequently, when I decided to build my first large motor yacht, I did not feel I needed the services of a company like Moran Yacht & Ship. In any event, I was persuaded to let them negotiate on my behalf while I simultaneously held discussions with other building options. Exiled russian oligarch’s 257’ superyacht amaryllis seen towed through palm beach.

The 257’ superyacht Amaryllis apparently owned by exiled Russian oligarch Andrey Borodin was towed past Palm Beach, FL on Friday morning, according to a visual account by CorpGov .

The yacht, whose owner is frequently cited as Mr. Borodin by enthusiast publications, moved slowly through the Lake Worth lagoon where bridges were raised for its passage. A towboat with flashing lights about 150 feet ahead pulled the Amaryllis , built by German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen in 2011.

While CorpGov could not officially confirm Mr. Borodin as the owner of the vessel, his wife, socialite Tatiana Korsakova, has posted dozens of Instagram photos and videos aboard the Amaryllis. A yacht broker interviewed by CorpGov confirmed that Ms. Korsakova is indeed aboard the Amaryllis in the photos and videos.

The sighting comes as billions of dollars in Russian-owned yachts have been seized around the world as a result of international sanctions. CNN has published an extensive list of seized vessels, which were taken in harbor cities including Mallorca, Spain and London.

However, it is unclear if the Amaryllis was being seized or voluntarily towed. Very large yachts often choose to be towed because bridges are required to raise for them, according to the yacht broker.

The former Bank of Moscow chief was granted political asylum in the UK in February 2013 after fleeing what he alleged to be politically-motivated fraud and embezzlement charges. Mr. Borodin would go on to be tried and convicted in abstentia in Russian Court in 2018, but not before managing to enlist a number of prominent American lawmakers to lobby Washington for a U.S. visa. Despite Russian extradition requests to the UK government, Borodin’s controversial attempts to make large donations to the NHS, and the uncovering of an assassination plot against his life, the fugitive banker remains overseas, having been granted access to his Swiss bank accounts and having made several notable London real estate purchases during his time in exile.

Mr. Borodin is widely listed as a billionaire, but his total wealth remains difficult to confirm accurately, with the governments of Switzerland and the Bahamas having been asked to help the Russian government in its legal case. In 2012, Borodin purchased the UK’s then-most expensive home, an 80-hectare 18th-century estate in Oxfordshire, for upwards of $217 million. In 2017 he was granted access to personal Swiss accounts holding a reported $378 million. The Amaryllis was purchased for a reported $120 million.

Mr. Borodin did not immediately respond to an emailed query from CorpGov , while the FBI declined to comment. An emailed query to The Department of Homeland Security was not returned.
