The ProStart, is specifically designed, from the ground up, to give you the easiest, most accurate distance to line measurements ever.
Setting the line is as simple as telling your crew to press the boat button as you sail by the RC and then the pin button as you sail by the pin.

Speed and Course Over Ground
Ten seconds after your start, the ProStart automatically switches to showing your speed over ground (GPS speed) and course over ground. The accuracy and responsiveness of the speed measurements make the ProStart an unparalleled tool for optimizing your speed.
Since COG and SOG describe your course over the bottom (where the marks are anchored) the ProStart is also an extremely powerful tool for determining the influence of current on your performance. When you cross a tideline, the numbers on the ProStart jump and you can instantly see how favorable the new current is.
No distractions.
Our number one goal in designing the ProStart was to make sure that the product would never undermine your crew’s performance with unnecessary distractions during the pre-start. The front surface of the ProStart is reserved for the three most important start-related buttons: the pin, boat and gun buttons. The large size of these buttons makes them easy to press, even with gloved hands and easy to find in the midst of chaos. Big numbers make the instrument easy to read with a quick glance and helps you keep your attention focused outside the boat.
COUNTDOWN TIMER
With the ProStart, when you hear or see any type of start signal it’s the always the same drill: just hit the GUN button. If the timer isn’t running, it will start. If the timer is running it will sync.
Synced to the wrong signal? No problem; the ProStart lets you independently adjust the number of minutes on the timer while the seconds keep on rolling.
MAXIMUM SPEED RECALL
Recall your session’s absolute maximum and best 10 second average speeds with the click of a single clearly-marked button.
GPS DATA LOGGING
In addition to providing you real-time, on-the-water data, the ProStart constantly records your speed, heading and position to keep a running log of your most recent 30 hours of sailing. Once you get back to shore you can download this data to your Mac or PC and create race replay animations.
The ProStart has been tested to IPX-8, the most rigorous industrial water-resistance standard. This means that you can count on the ProStart to survive wipeout after epic wipeout.
MOUNT THE PROSTART ANYWHERE
Each ProStart comes packaged with a mounting cradle that can be bolted to the ProStart Mast Mounting Bracket or directly to a bulkhead. The cradle is also compatible with any bracket designed for the Tacktick Micro Compass.
Displays heading, speed and wind shift indicator, updated twice a second. Each wind shift indicator bar graph segment represents 2.5° of deviation from the initial tack angle.

RC Model Boat Race Starting Clock
RC model boat race starting clock operation for this model is as follows. For RC Model Boat Racing a starter clock is used for each race. In this video we are starting the Boat Race Timer Operation for the DSP1003_RC in the heat number mode. As you can see we are displaying heat number 3 to begin with as an example.
On the key pad we have several buttons, let's start with Run, Pause, Preset 1, and Preset 2. Normally the presets are set to a predetermined value. In this example preset 1 is set for 2:30 mins. That is a common pre-race time frame that can be used. Once the racers are situated out on the lake you can hit the run button on the top left of the keypad and the display will start counting down. Once the timer gets to zero that means the boats need to be at the starting line and ready to start, you can pause the countdown time if need be by tapping the pause button on the keypad. If you do hit the pause button make sure to hit the run button to continue your count down.
Boat Race Timer Operation
DSP1003_RC can manually change the heat number by hitting the next button to increase the heat number or the previous button to reduce the heat number also you can reset the heat number to zero with the reset button.
You can change your preset time by hitting the preset button then use the knob to dial in the time needed, press and hold the preset button until you see the dashes on the display and your new preset has been stored. Just hit the run button on the preset that was changed to see the new preset count down.

On the side of the keypad there are connections for additional features that can be added as needed.
The power connection on the back of the display can be plugged in with a standard power DC power supply however; with an adapter you can also plug the display into a car battery or a 12v power supply.
This has also been water proofed to protect against water spray (not to be used under water).

Race Committee Timer
Race Committee Timer, RCTimer, is an Android application designed for race committees to do starts for sailing regattas. The timer can be set to a count down time, for example 5 minutes. It can also be set to a specific start time, for example 12:30. A sequence can be set so that multiple fleets can be timed in rotation, for example a start every 15 minutes. The timer can be started or stopped and minutes can be added. There is a reference page with signal flags and a lock button. The latest feature is that the app will now talk or sound a horn blast. Sounds can be programmed to occur at any count down time and anything can be said. A simple text file defines what is said or when the horns are sounded. The app is free. It is in the Google Play store under RCTimer.

How About for Racing
The very powerful sailing racing app is StartLine discussed in an article below. If all you want is a count down timer that can be synchronized to GPS time or to a signal from the committee boat, this app will work just fine. You can also program instructions to your crew or have the app call out the start sequence over your boats bluetooth sound system.

| RCTimer has text to speech and horn sounds built in. Any text editor can create the required file which is placed in the RCTimer directory on the SD Card created when the program first runs. It is free from the Play store. In the file shown in the editor, at 3:30 and 3:00 the text displayed (the time) will be read off. At 3:45 and 3:55 a horn will sound. |

Starting Sequence Countdown Timers and Finish Applications
Every so often a question is asked if we know of any applications to run starting sequence and/or record finish sequence electronically. The following is an alphabetical list some of the applications I have come across in my travels through the Internet. There are others but I have not included them, because either the last update was over 5 years ago or the link I have no longer works.
I look forward to hearing of others that I am not aware of.
You will need to determine for yourself whether any of these App’s meets your requirements. In addition, be mindful of the following potential problems that can occur when using electronic devices on a committee boat.
a) An electronic device would probably need protecting from the wet or rain when used on a committee vessel.
b) A phone or tablet with direct sunlight can be difficult to read, even more so if it were contained in a cover to make it waterproof.
c) When boats are finishing rapidly or in a large group, selection of the right boat at the correct time (to give the appropriate time stamp) may be difficult if not impossible.
d) There is an increased chance of losing data.

Hi, I came across this thread and although it’s a bit old now I thought I’d add some info that might be useful to someone. As a member of Portchester Sailing Club we were looking to encourage members less experienced with OOD/Race control duties to get involved but the prospect of starting stop watches, sounding horns and manually controlling light/flag sequences at the same time makes it stressfull for one person and puts people off. We looked at what was available on the market for automating the sequence but nothing was available that was suitable.
So, I designed a system that with one button press would take care of the stop watch timing, sound signals and light sequence at the race start and also sound and record upto 20 finishing times.It’s portable and splash proof so can be taken on a commitee boat or rib also.
The system has been very well received and as there didn’t seem to be anything equivalent on the market I have decided to offer it to others that might be interested.

Funko Fusion release date and time
Funko Fusion will be released on Friday, Sept. 13. The game has a global release window, as revealed by listings on Steam and PlayStation , and will unlock for everyone at the same time. This means that those in New Zealand, for example, won’t be able to dive in first.
The exact time for Funko Fusion’s release is 8am PT/10am CT/11am ET/4pm BST/1am AEST (Sept. 14). Use our countdown below to keep tabs on exactly how long until its debut.
Remember this is for the digital release of Funko Fusion , and physical editions can be purchased in person as soon as your local retailer opens on Sept. 13. If you ordered a physical edition online, you can play it as soon as you have it in hand.

| is the website. they are loud, lightweight, have simple controls, and very rugged. one set of 4 AA batteries last all season. the first mod we did was tap the base plate for 1/4-20 thread, because we have some second hand camera tripods that we mount the units on--we can set the height, and adjust the legs for un-even ground, fold them for transport. Many brands about $25 and up. You'll want a couple of cheap micro SD cards to load a 2 minute sequence on one and 1 minute sequence on the other. If you add a 30 minute silent mp3 then you can just press fast forward to restart the timer. The microphone headset.

We have the same issue with the 1 and 2 minute handicap starts where the lowest handicap may be 30sec so you listen to the timer until it stops but someone usually moves over and presses the stop button once the start pressure is off.
