The book contains reviews of 20 small(ish) sailboats that Vigor has chosen as being seaworthy enough to take the competent sailor anywhere in the world that she wants to go. The boats range in size from the diminutive Flicka 20 to the cavernous Westsail 32.
All are small - from 20 feet to 32 feet overall - but all have crossed oceans. Many have circumnavigated the world. And all are cheap. Choosing the right boat to take you across an ocean or around the world can be confusing and exasperating, particularly if your budget is tight. Vigor sets out to remedy that in this book.

I think there would be a real audience for another book, a book covering the small sailboats he doesn't mention here, the Bayfield 25 the Cheoy Lee, and others that one reviewer suggested. He could call it: Twenty MORE Small Sailboats to Take You Anywhere. I'm sure Vigor could come up with more suggestions many haven't considered.

The boats IIRC are from most seaworthy being #1 and least being #20 (the Catalina 27) based on a capsize ratios, comfort at sea and whatever other criteria he was factoring in. I have and love the book and a lot of my favorite small boats are listed there. If you are looking for something a little bigger there is another book called Twenty Affordable Boats to Take You Anywhere, with boats 30 ...

This book picks up where "Twenty Small Sailboats to Take You Anywhere" (by John Vigor) left off. Vigor writes the extraordinarily humorous preface, which is actually one of the best parts of the book (laughed out loud). Vigor writes with greater humor than Nestor (no insult, as this is Vigor's special gift), but both are extremely informative ...
