The 42 Manta is well respected among cruisers as a very capable and practical long range cruising yacht. Built in Sarasota, Florida to very high standards, she is safe, comfortable and fast. Built in safety features include the laminated hull to deck joint and collision bulkheads creating watertight compartments in the ends of each hull. Beginning with the design of the Manta 38 in 1993 in St Petersburg, Florida and ending with the last Manta 42 Mark IV built in 2008. Several 42 Mantas have completed circumnavigations and many others are cruising to distant harbors. The Manta 42 enjoys one of the highest percentages of live aboard owners of any production boat.

| Construction: | The hull, deck, bulkheads and sub-sole are vacumed bagged utilizing a varying lamination schedule of biaxial, triaxial and unidirectional cloth, cored with Core Cell(hull & deck) and Nida Core honeycomb coring(bulkheads, sub-sole) and laminatated with vinylester and isopthalic resins. Wetted sufaces below the waterline are solid GRP contruction with vinylester resin, and above the waterline in the hull and deck isopthalic resin is used. In the areas of thru-hulls, chainplates and deck hardware the construction is solid GRP. All deck hardware is thru-bolted with aluminum backing plates laminated into the respective location. Manta further uses Kevlar in the bow and keel areas. Thru-hull fittings and sea cocks are non-corrosive Marelon. The hull to deck marriage is done with 3M 5200 marine adhesive/sealant then further reinforced with 360 degree unidirectional laminates on the inside of the hull/deck bond for additonal structural integrity and stiffness and essentially creating a monocoque structure. The hull/deck seam is then finished with a heavy duty vinly rub rail. |

Built with the cruising couple in mind, the Manta Mk-II is a US built Bluewater vessel with an excellent reputation. Storyteller is a Maryland based 2007 Manta 42 Mk. IV Catamaran for Sale by Owner. Storyteller is hull No. 118 and began as the builder’s “boat show” boat, featured in magazine articles and at the Miami Boat show. She has never been in charter. The original owners purchased her when Manta closed.

The Manta 42 is a world class catamaran made in the USA. They were built in Florida from the 1990's into the early 2000's. Thoughtfully designed, engineered and built to withstand just about anything mother nature can dig out. Many Manta's have crossed the Atlantic and circled the globe. They are designed to be run by a cruising couple but can also be easily singlehanded. All rigging lines/ sheets are run back to the helm and it's electric winch.
Down below there is plenty of natural light, headroom and storage. The main salon is spacious and well laid out with a large galley and seating area. This owner's version has a large master stateroom with head and two additional cabins with a shared head. This catamaran was the featured boat at the Annapolis Boat Show in 2000 and also won boat of the year. She still has the same owners. Recent additions include Mack Pack main installed 2017, Garmin electronics package 2022, new custom mattress owners berth 2022, and new hot water heater 2024. Twin Volvo Penta engines have 2000 hours. Much recent mechanical work this year ensures the next owner has even more reliable power plants. Boat was stored indoors from 2000-2010 and annually shrink wrapped since. She has been to the Bahamas and Florida but is a New England boat primarily. Overall a very nice boat that presents very well and shows years of good care , maintenance and upgrades. Boat not available until after Labor Day. Preliminary pictures- interior shots coming soon.
