New 500X Yacht Club Capri, the first in an “open-air” version

On July 1 st , Europe makes a new start: with the “Green Pass”, it will be possible to return to freedom of movement within the 27 countries of the European Union. Freedom, joie de vivre and escapism come with the long-awaited restart and the beginning of this year’s summer season. The desire to rediscover the pleasure of things big and small takes us back to the ambience of Dolce Vita that straddled the 1950s and ’60s, when Rome, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Portofino and Capri became the settings for the international jet set. Here in Italy, they found the right places for pure escapism, in the name of Italian style and taste.

“July 1 st is a significant date with a considerable symbolic value. It gives the green light to the recovery, to the reopening of Europe, to the return to freedom of movement and travel, and in a way to that carefree attitude typical of summer,” stated Olivier Francois, Fiat Chief Executive Officer and Stellantis CMO. “These were the precise values that inspired the creation of the new 500X Yacht Club Capri, the first “open-air” 500X, as the feeling of the wind in your hair is synonymous with freedom and happiness. The new “open-air” body makes its debut with the “Yacht Club Capri” Special Series, a tribute to a location as evocative as the Yacht Club Capri, and with the 500X Dolcevita Launch Edition.”

The 500X Yacht Club Capri adds a new body to the 500X line-up: on top of the Cross and Sport trims, the 500X now becomes “open-air” for the first time. In a few seconds and with a single push of a button, the electric soft top of the new Yacht Club Capri special series opens the 500X to the heavens. The new special series with its livery dedicated to the “Yacht Club Capri” is available in “Blue Venezia” with blue “Dolcevita” soft-top, brushed chrome mirror caps and door handles, and the Yacht Club Capri logo to cement the partnership on the B-pillar and tailgate. The line of beauty enhances the car's profile and sophistication. Also brand-new and exclusive are the 18” lightweight alloy wheels with Blue Venezia design cues. The sailing-inspired elegance and the reference to the years of the Dolce Vita can also be seen in the interior: soft touch white seats with 500 blue embroidery and as optional, a dashboard and gear knob in dark mahogany.

500X Dolcevita Launch Edition

The 500X Dolcevita Launch Edition embodies the excitement and pleasure of “open-air” driving in a prestigious launch edition. The external livery comes in Gelato White, the electric "DolceVita" soft-top is blue and the 18” alloy wheels include blue design cues, while the prestige of the interior lies in its soft touch white seats.

FIAT’s 500X Yacht Club Capri Special Edition Offers Open-Air Freedom With 30 MPG!

Power soft-top, awd, turbocharged engine, & automatic transmission are all standard....

As the only FIAT brand vehicle in both the American and Canadian lineups, the 2022 Fiat 500X delivers Italian design and engaging driving dynamics synonymous with the Italian marque. The 500X offers standard all-wheel-drive (AWD), and an array of safety, comfort, and convenience features.

The fun-to-drive B-segment crossover ( a direct sibling to the 2022 Jeep® Renegade ) features a turbocharged 1.3-liter direct-injected MultiAir® 16-valve four-cylinder engine which is part of the Stellantis Global Small Engine (GSE) powertrain family. The 1.3-liter produces 177 horsepower (132 kW) and 210 lb.-ft. (285 N•m) of torque.

The 1.3-liter has Engine Stop-Start (ESS) technology and best-in-class torque for improved performance and fuel economy. A standard 9-speed automatic transmission paired with the AWD system features a disconnecting rear axle that contributes to a 30 mpg (7.9L/100 km) highway rating.

For 2022, the 500X gets a unique Yacht Club Capri special edition model, which is based on the Sport trim. Named after the famed Italian sailing club that was formed in 1999, the 500X Yacht Club Capri adds a unique look, blended with an open-air sailing theme.

So what does the Yacht Club Capri special edition include?

The Fiat 500X Yachting adds a new body to the 500X line-up: on top of the Cross and Sport trims, the 500X now becomes "open-air" for the first time. In a few seconds and with a single push of a button, the electric soft top of the new Yachting special series opens the 500X to the heavens. The new Collectors' Edition in its launch version with a special livery dedicated to the "Yacht Club Capri" comes in the exclusive "Blu Venezia", with a blue soft top, while the mirror caps are made of brushed chrome, as are the door handles. A blue and ivory line of beauty also enhances the car's profile: it runs at the level of the waistline and is reminiscent of the line of beauty on boats. Also brand-new and exclusive are the 18" lightweight alloy wheels with sea blue design cues.

The sailing-inspired elegance can also be seen in the interior, with its white soft-touch seats with 500 in edged blue embroidery, aluminum door sill plates with "Yachting" logo and mahogany dashboard, another powerful reference to the design cues typical of boats of the dolce vita years. Wood - the most natural of the elements - is paired with advanced technology for an absolutely outstanding result, as in the world of sailing. The key cover also comes with a new look, reminiscent of the body colors.

Fiat has previewed a convertible version of the 500X that it dubs the Yachting edition.

The new model was teased on Instagram by Fiat chief executive Olivier Francois and shows the open-top 500X being driven through some picturesque places in Italy. If you want to enjoy summer sun and have the wind in your face, the 500X Yachting could be the perfect model for the job.

In the video, we can see that the fabric roof of the 500X is very similar to the one of the 500C. However, rather than the roof extending down to where the rear window would normally be, the roof of the 500X Yachting stops retracting when it is in line with the C-pillars. The crossover also features a wind deflector to reduce some of the buffeting when the fabric top is open.

Elsewhere, the video shows that the 500X Yachting has badges on the B-pillars that read ‘Yacht Club Capri’. The interior also comes clad in white leather that’s contrasted by a host of blue accents that mimic the blue exterior paint. In addition, the vehicle features mahogany wood on the dashboard and gear shifter.

Pricing details for the Fiat 500X Yachting haven’t been announced but it can be expected to sell for a small premium over the standard model which starts at €21,000 in Italy. It is expected to be powered by the same turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine as other 500X models, producing 177 hp and 210 lb-ft (285 Nm) of torque.

2022 Fiat 500X gets Yacht Club Capri special edition

Could be a healthy price increase on the way as well.

Fifteen years ago, Fiat released a product roadmap identifying 10 new models to appear between 2007 and 2010 that would join seven extant models across Europe and the U.S. Today, Fiat's home market of Italy only sells five models, three of them versions of the 500, and the U.S. has just one, the 500X . As for that model, it sold 1,443 units here in 2020; based on the 980 sales through the end of September this year, Fiat won't even reach that abysmal mark. Yet the show must go on, so Fiat's got two touches of flair in store for the 2022 500X. Starting small, there will be an "Al-Fresco" retractable fabric roof available for all trims. To ensure the sprezzatura a 500X driver demands, the top can be had in four colors , three of them being black, gray, or red. 

The last color, blue, is reserved for the bigger news: A new Yacht Club Capri trim, a special edition model that is also blue. The model is named for the island of Capri, not far from Naples, Italy, and the numerous yachts that stop in there. Based on the penultimate Sport trim, it comes awash in Venenzia blue paint and sits on 18-inch wheels with Venezia blue accents outside, and gets Yacht Club Capri badging. Inside, Ivory leather seats with blue piping face an instrument panel with a woodgrain insert and shift lever given a satin finish. In other markets this same model is known as the Yachting Collector's Edition and is also available on the two-door all-electric 500, the build allotment limited to 500 numbered units. Fiat didn't mention limited production for the U.S.

Every 500X is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque sending power to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic.

Fiat hasn't officially released pricing, but based on information found on auto pricing sites, it appears the automaker could have a $680 price increase in mind. Fiat says the current four trims will carry over, Pop, Trekking, Sport, and Trekking Plus. According to the info we found, only three are priced so far. Tentative pricing for 2022, including the whopping $1,495 destination charge, is:

• Pop: $28,120
• Trekking: $29,255
• Sport: $30,110

Had an issue this weekend with my 500x Cross, was driving home from a day away with the Live Nav system happily guiding me, only for it to lose itself... The Guiding arrow could not find the guided route, and no lane or turn guidance was offered.. I ended the route, reloaded, and the same issue.. Turned it off for 5 minutes, reloaded the required destination and the Nav started as normal only to loose the route again after about 5 minutes.. Has anybody else experienced this? Or know what it did it? My mobile with Uconnect App loaded was with me in the car and had connected.  

A few weeks ago my satnav, 6.5 inch screen, went bonkers just testing to see where my nearest hosrital was and it wanted to direct me to Moscow. I live in Kent in the UK

Mine sometimes tells me I am in the middle of a field with nothing around me. I just keep driving until it corrects itself.
