Baglietto e Bertram: il leggendario marchio Americano sbarca in Europa

NASCE UNA NUOVA DIVISIONE BERTRAM EUROPE PER LA COSTRUZIONE DI IMBARCAZIONI BERTRAM IN ITALIA

La Spezia, 20 Aprile 2022 – Il leggendario marchio americano Bertram specializzato nella costruzione di sportfisherman, dal 2015 di proprietà della famiglia Gavio e parte del gruppo Baglietto, sbarca in Europa: una nuova divisione Bertram opererà presso il sito produttivo Baglietto di Marina di Carrara e si occuperà della costruzione e commercializzazione del brand in Italia ed Europa.

La produzione in Italia nasce dalla volontà di poter soddisfare le numerose richieste di imbarcazioni Bertram da parte degli appassionati del vecchio continente e non andrà a toccare il DNA del brand, che rimarrà assolutamente Made in USA, come sottolinea il Presidente Beniamino Gavio: “Bertram resta un prodotto 100% americano, alcuni dei componenti saranno infatti importati direttamente dagli Stati Uniti, ma siamo certi che ci siano tutte le prerogative per rispondere a quella clientela qui da noi che da sempre apprezza imbarcazioni che offrono stile, versatilità e charme mantenendo l’eccellenza delle qualità marine” . “La tradizione del prodotto Bertram, la sua storia ed il suo heritage – aggiunge Diego Michele Deprati, Amministratore Delegato di Baglietto – si coniugano perfettamente con la tradizione Baglietto. Sono entrambi marchi iconici, che attingono alla tradizione marinaresca sulla quale hanno costruito la loro storia di qualità e successo” . Le attività della neonata divisione Bertram in Europa si inaugura con la vendita di un 35” commissionato dal Dott. Andy Bianchedi, appassionato velista ed armatore di lungo corso, che ha scelto questo modello che verrà prodotto a Carrara in una “limited edition”. L’imbarcazione sarà consegnata nella primavera 2023.

Baglietto: Il Cantiere Baglietto è specializzato nella costruzione di nuove imbarcazioni plananti in alluminio da 38 a 50 metri e megayacht dislocanti e semidislocanti dai 40 metri in acciaio e alluminio. Baglietto oggi conta di 2 sedi produttive, a La Spezia (headquarter) e Carrara (sede operativa). La sede di La Spezia si espande su una superficie di ca. 35.000mq. Un importante progetto costruttivo ha visto, negli ultimi anni, il rinnovamento dell’intero impianto produttivo con la costruzione, a La Spezia, di 3 nuovi capannoni per imbarcazioni fino a 65m e banchine attrezzate per ospitare navi fino a 70m. L’unità operativa di Carrara conta, invece, 2 aree di 5000mq ciascuna destinate una alla costruzione delle imbarcazioni militari, l’altra, con 4 nuovi capannoni, alla costruzione di yacht fino a 50m. Le attività del cantiere prevedono uno sviluppo importante oltre che nelle nuove costruzioni anche nell’ambito della costruzione di imbarcazioni militari con il marchio di BAGLIETTO NAVY (al momento sono in costruzione 2 commesse per la Marina Militare).

Bertram Yachts Bertram Yachts viene fondata nel 1960 quando Dick Bertram – yacht broker, pilota di vela d’altura e di motoryacht da corsa- costruisce il primo Bertram – il 31’ Moppie. Costruito per replicare lo scafo DEEP-V che aveva infranto tutti i record nel 1960 nella Miami – Nassau Ocean Race a motore, il Bertram 31 da’ il via ad una linea di imbarcazioni da pesca sportiva, fino agli 80’ che sarebbe stata riconosciuta da tutti per le eccellenti doti di navigazione e tenuta di mare in condizioni inclementi. L’azienda e la sua leggenda crescono grazie a molti modelli degni di nota, tra i quali si contano il Bertram 28, il 46 ed il 54 che lasciano il segno nel mondo della pesca. Nel 2015 Bertram viene acquisita da un gruppo capitanato da Beniamino Gavio.

General Description

Lady Croix is a 100% fresh water vessel, currently located in a covered slip on Lake Barkley KY. She is powered by twin Detroit 6-71 Diesels, and a 12KW Onan Generator all recently serviced and ready to go. The bottom was painted in 2023, as well as new high pressure oil lines on both main engines. Vessel has always been kept in heated storage during the winter season. Exterior gel coat is in excellent condition, and shows very well. Lady Croix would make an excellent Great Loop, or liveaboard vessel. 

Tender and 6HP Mercury included with vessel.

Beloved by big-game anglers around the world, Bertram builds composite luxury performance yachts from 15.5 to 25 metres that are designed for fishing, but double as comfortable offshore cruisers (hence the term “Convertible”).

In 1960, Miami businessman Richard Bertram commissioned a race boat designed by naval architect C. Raymond Hunt. The 9.4-meter powerboat, Moppie , sported a radical, deep-V hull, developed by Hunt. Bertram entered Moppie in the Miami-Nassau Race and – in the worst conditions the history of the race – won the event handily, breaking the course record by four minutes. The next year, he created a hull mold for the Bertram 31, based on the first Moppie , and began building the boat in fiberglass. He launched the Bertram shipyard in Miami in 1962.

In 1977, the shipyard began building bigger luxury sportfishing yachts with the Bertram 58 Convertible. The Bertram 72 Convertible became the flagship of the fleet in 1989. Bertram was acquired by Italy’s Ferretti Group yacht-building corporation in 1998, and remains its only American brand.

Notable Yachts

In 1981, the shipyard launched its original Bertram 54 Convertible model. When it debuted, the 16.45-metre luxury yacht was heralded as an “iconic” sportfisher. The largest Bertram ever launched is the 25-metre Bertram 80, which was introduced in 2010. This flagship model features four ensuite staterooms, but an optional layout with a forward crew cabin also is available.

Now located in Merritt Island, Florida, Bertram’s main focus is on designing and building the brand’s composite, luxury performance yacht models ranging up to 25 metres in length. Bertram also supports a worldwide dealer network, which provides sales and service to its customers.

Bertram Yachts has a heritage that dates back to 1960 when its founder Dick Bertram, a yacht broker, bluewater sailing yacht racer and powerboat racer, built the first Bertram – the 31-foot Glass Moppie, designed by naval architect C. Raymond Hunt. The Bertram 31 was a yacht that was ahead of its time both in terms of design and power. The Bertram 31 won the 1960 Miami to Nassau Race, setting a new course record, and it heralded the start of Bertram’s award-winning line of performance and sportfishing boats ranging up to 80 feet.

Today, the Bertram World Headquarters in Tampa, Florida, encompasses a 120,000sq.ft shipyard and marine service facility, with 40-foot-high buildings and high-tech fiberglass construction equipment.

Beloved by big-game anglers around the world, Bertram continues to build composite luxury performance yachts from 50 feet (15.5m) to 80 feet (25m) that are designed for fishing, but double as comfortable offshore cruisers. Bertram offers three standard models; the 35, 50 and 61. The largest Bertram to date is a 25-meter Bertam 80, which was introduced to their product line in 2010. The Bertram 80 features four ensuite cabins and has various layout options, including one which provides for a small complement of crew. Northrop & Johnson partners with several sportfishing yachts; Bertram yachts has many unique designs available on the market.

Bertram Sportfish & Convertible Yacht History

The first Bertram vessel, the Bertram 31, made its commercial debut at the New York Boat Show in 1961 and the design was offered in three model variations: the V-31 Convertible Sport Cruiser with fold-down bimini top; the V-31 Hardtop Sport Cruiser; and the V-31 Flybridge Sport Cruiser. The Bertram 31 Glass Moppie won the Miami to Nassau Race again that year, shattering its own previous race record and the Bertram Shipyard was officially opened in 1962.

Bertram Yachts became a division of the Nautec Corporation, a subsidiary of the Motor Products Corporation, and the infusion of capital funded the research and development of many new models, also leading to the acquisition of a new production facility on the Miami River.

As the company grew, so did its reputation, with the development of many noteworthy models including the Bertram 28, Bertram 46 and 54. Builders of high-quality craft for the US Coast Guard and military, Bertram quickly established itself as one of the finest yacht building companies in the world.

In 1977, the shipyard began building bigger luxury sportfishing yachts with the Bertram 58 Convertible. The Bertram 72 Convertible became the flagship of the fleet in 1989.

In the early nineties, Bertram-Trojan Inc. was forced to file for bankruptcy. While Aqua Buoy acquired Trojan Assets, the Italian Gruppo Varasi bought Bertram and quickly withdrew the company from bankruptcy proceedings, injecting USD 25 Million into Bertram and hiring John Adams (ex Hatteras) to run the company.

In 1997, the economic downturn in Italy pushed Gruppo Varasi to sell its subsidiary Santavalaria, which owned Bertram, to Teknecomp SpA. Teknecomp changed its name to Intek SpA and installed Gianni Morace (ex CEO of Baglietto Shipyard and Rodriguez Shipyard) to run the company day-to-day. Following this change of status, in 1998 Intek sold Bertram to Italy’s Ferretti SpA – a well known yacht-building corporation and owners of other notable brands such as Riva, CRN, Pershing and Aprea Mar.

In 2015, the company was sold again. This time acquired by Beniamino Gavio and Gruppo Gavio who, as experienced yachtsmen and Bertram owners themselves, pledged to rebuild the Bertram brand in America.

The all-new Bertram Yachts hired Peter Truslow as CEO and purchased a waterfront shipyard in Tampa, Florida, where new vessels would be built as well as service and refit for existing vessels offered. A new Bertram 35 was introduced at the 2016 Newport International Boat Show and was an instant hit with huge sales success.

Bertram yachts are built to be faster, tougher, and more durable.

The Bertram Fleet

The Bertram production line features three key models: the Bertram 35 (the ‘Moppie’), Bertram 50 and Bertram 61. Encompassing all the qualities of the original Bertram 31, on which this notable brand has been established, through to the yard’s flagship model which is very much a 21st-century boat, all the designs are undoubtedly Bertrams, with distinctly recognizable exterior profiles.

Whilst staying true to the Bertram’s intended use as a sports fisher, the Bertram 61 features a luxurious interior with three en suite cabins, an open-plan saloon and galley, and two decor packages from clients to choose from.
