Hanse Launches Versatile New RYCK 280

HanseYachts AG, the giant German builder, has launched a new powerboat line called RYCK, starting with the versatile and highly customizable RYCK 280.

The new RYCK, named after the river that flows from the Hanse yard in Greifswald to the Baltic, can hold eight people and tops out at about 40 knots when powered with a 300-hp Mercury Verado outboard.

It was designed by Bill Dixon, the British naval architect who has developed leading power- and sail-boats for many years. For its part, Hanse is one of the world’s largest boat manufacturers, building Hanse, Dehler and Moody brands for sail and Fjord, Sealine and now RYCK for power. It also makes Privilege cats, both power and sail.

The idea behind RYCK was to create a trailerable, all-around boat that is fun, safe and highly maneuverable. It also is customizable; indeed, Hanse is offering the boat with six different configurations, including one with a double bed, full-sized head and even a hanging locker below.

The new RYCK will make its official debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, starting Sept. 6, but it’s already being sold in the U.S. Indeed, McMichael Yacht Brokers in Mamaroneck, New York, delivered one to a new owner last week, and has sold two more.

The RYCK 280 has a walkaround deck and a high freeboard for safety on board. The cockpit and wheelhouse are all one level. The cockpit has a standard L-bench seat; the backrest folds to serve as a sun lounge. A table, fridge, wet bar and grill are optional. A large sun pad is on the foredeck.

A large and sturdy T-Top covers the helm deck; two more awnings can be extended to provide shade for the cockpit as well. There are two seats at the helm, which is large enough to house two 12-inch chart-plotters.

The hull has two steps, and power comes from a single 250-, 300-, or 350-hp Mercury Verado outboard.

ELEGANT, FAST, DYNAMIC.

The RYCK 280 has the largest continuous cab in its class. Whether it's the engine, the cooler, the anchoring device or the central station - all functions can be accessed directly and conveniently. What's more, the cockpit can be converted in the blink of an eye: the aft seating area can be converted into a large sundeck in just a few steps. Plenty of storage space (e.g. under the bench and table) for storing equipment; additional coolers are also available.

Sun worshippers will get their money's worth on this RYCK 280. You can choose between a large sunpad in the bow or convert the cockpit seat into a sunbathing area. Sunshades are available to provide shade on both sides.

Would you like to prepare a freshly caught fish or organise a romantic candlelit dinner at the berth? The bar area of the RYCK 280 can be equipped with a gas grill and sink or a two-burner gas cooker and sink.

Anchoring manoeuvres are child's play with the RYCK 280. The bowsprit allows the hull hook to be released, avoiding the risk of damage. An optional electric windscreen allows you to retain your strength. The bowsprit also provides an easy way to climb ashore.

COMMAND STATION

The RYCK 280 is controlled via a state-of-the-art touch screen. The glass bridge technology makes it easy to operate all functions and provides a quick overview of battery levels and key operating data. The RYCK 280 is comfortable to drive, both seated and standing, and has ample arm and legroom.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT

For fishermen and water skiers, the RYCK 280 can also be fitted with rod holders or a tow bar, so that nothing gets in the way of a fishing trip or the boat's adrenaline rush.

Turn on the underwater lighting and the RYCK 280 becomes an atmospheric lounge at night. At the berth or even in the harbour, you'll find yourself on board a real eye-catcher.

The RYCK 280 can be configured in terms of speed, as there are three different engines to choose from: from 250 to 350 hp. Even speed freaks will fly with the most powerful outboard option, which turns the RYCK 280 into a muscular speedboat.

The stepped hull with inverted bow not only looks elegant, but is also very well adapted to the water. It guarantees high speeds and excellent sea keeping, even in rough seas. The sporty design is achieved through the coach roof, so that the silhouette of a RYCK 280 lives up to the promise made by its outboards.

On a RYCK you can easily reach all corners thanks to the walk-on platforms. Especially when manoeuvring, the wide, fully closing deck is an enormous advantage. The high freeboard and the additional railing also offer maximum safety in all conditions, especially for the smallest crew members.

Available in black or white, the T-top gives the RYCK an even cooler look and provides practical shade from the sun. Fitted with spotlights, it illuminates the deck in the dark.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Below deck, the RYCK 280 offers an extremely spacious cabin with a king-size bed, ample storage space and a separate living area - all features that make the RYCK 280 the perfect companion for evenings and long weekends. The modern interior design features plenty of natural light and an indirect lighting concept. Of course, all RYCK owners can choose the upholstery colours that best suit their style.

HanseYachts AG introduces the RYCK 280

HanseYachts AG presents RYCK, its third motorboat brand carrying the “Made in Germany” label. The new brand was developed in Greifswald in cooperation with yacht designer Bill Dixon, and is aimed specifically at sports-minded skippers and crews in the weekender segment.

The first model from the new brand is the RYCK 280, which combines superior handling characteristics with a stylish design.

Deck: A 25cm-wide walkaround deck, guard railing and high freeboard all serve to make this a very safe boat. The stepless cockpit offers a lot of space and freedom of movement and, in addition to the standard L-shaped bench seat, can also be equipped with a table, fridge and a wetbar including a grill or cooker. The backrest of the bench seat folds down to create a second lounging area that complements the sunpad on the foredeck.

With the T-top and two additional awnings, the entire deck area can be shaded, while optional fishing rod holders and a tow bar for water skiing also appeal to active crew members. The large bathing platform with its ladder and a stern shower with hot and cold water make for carefree fun in the water. A bowsprit with integrated anchor arm and an electric windlass guarantee safe and comfortable anchoring.

Hull: The stepped hull ensures the best rough water characteristics, while the reverse bow underlines the modern and elegant design of the RYCK 280.

Helm station and engine: Well-protected by a stylish windscreen, the ergonomic driving position can be enhanced with a glass bridge control panel that includes two 12in plotters. A Mercury Verado outboard provides all the necessary power, with a choice of 250, 300 or 350hp.

World Premiere of the RYCK 280 will be at the Cannes Yachting Festival from 7-12 September, in the Vieux Port.

The all-new RYCK 280

First impressions matter. Not just on a first date, but also when it comes to buying a boat. The design has to be right. That's why we engaged the renowned yacht designer Bill Dixon to develop the open RYCK 280, alongside Hanse’s own in-house development team. The result is styling that will touch everyone. The reverse bow alone signals dynamism and sportiness, supported by the windscreen and the black T-top, which shades the stylish helm station. From here, the RYCK 280 is operated via touchscreen controls. Aft, in the large step less cockpit, the open boat offers enough space for anglers, divers, and water skiers to store and deploy their gear or — in a different layout — for families and friends to relax and sunbathe. Below deck is a luxurious, light-flooded cabin with a veritable wet room, wardrobe and a double bed. Here, the raised foredeck creates a sense of space and volume. Where does the stylish RYCK design come from?

Bill Dixon is one of the most famous and best respected yacht designers in the world. His signature is borne by countless boats and large yachts — and now also the RYCK 280. He comments on his design as follows: “ Our focus and challenge in developing the RYCK 280 was to find a balance between the open layout of a day cruiser, the integration of a comfortable cabin and a stylish, sporty design. The design distinguishes three areas: the covered steering position, the voluminous cockpit with optional grill, and the large sun lounge in the bow. All around, a high bulwark provides the necessary sense of security. Due to the raised deck in the forecastle, we were able to create more room in the cabin. The sense of space is very good, as is the fit-out with large double bed, plenty of storage space and large wet area. A variety of functions round off the unique design of the RYCK 280. ”
