Hand laid fiber glass construction with isophthalic gelcoat backed by an initial lay up of powder bound mat and isophthalic resin. The Moody Decksaloon 54 one level living concept takes a unique approach to modern yacht design at over 50ft. Simply open the sliding doors and you will enjoy a panoramic view from the living area and the spacious cockpit on the same level. The combination of the large cockpit with table as standard and open aft deck is ideal for spending time with family and friends and quickly becomes the place to congregate on-board.

The twin helm stations are the spot where all the threads come together. From the engine to the sails, any part can be controlled by a single person at the helm. In those wet or windy times you can operate the yacht from inside, which can be easily done by the autopilot and throttle at the chart table. An extra high bulwark, grab handles on the saloon roof and the fixed railing give a secure passage along the side deck, even if the weather gets rough. This is often appreciated by the younger crew members and dogs alike!

The interior options are a plenty – for those who prefer a cooking area separated from the saloon, you can choose the cabin concept with a large galley down below. This version offers more working space and stowage. Moreover, it allows for so much daylight that it does not feel like being down in the hull. No matter which galley configuration, you will be provided with every convenience. Interior wood choices can be chosen to suit your style, such as cherry or a light oak, with lovely detailing features throughout. The amount of space and headroom in the interior is quite amazing.

This yacht has state of the art systems with a C-Zone touch pad to control all electrical items – bow thruster, stern thruster if you choose, electric in-mast furling and even the option of powered furling for the headsails. All of these systems are controlled by one easy touch at the helm, meaning that even at 54ft she can be easily handled shorthanded.

Based on the same hull as the Hanse 588 designed by the very well renowned Bill Dixon, these yachts really sail well and several have done the Sydney Hobart race and gone transatlantic with the ARC rally.

With four separate cabins and three heads and showers, there is room for eight crew in comfort. The Moody DS54 combines the attributes of a monohull, a powerboat and a catamaran. It really works!

Second owner from new; first owner used her only for daysailing in the UK (2001-2017) and current ownership from 2017 with homebase in Sardinia and summer holiday use only. She has always been kept at a very high level both technical / maintenance as well as esthetical and has never been pressed. No costs spared and exchange decisions where always taken with the best available components. The balance and power of her underwater sections and lead keel give superb sail carrying ability and stability for swift passage times.’ The sparkling performance is complemented by her ease of handling by two people. Standard equipment includes furling for all sails, electrically powered primary winches and a 10Hp bow thruster. Her powerful sail plan on Seldén’s triple spreader rig includes a cutter rig with self-tacking staysail. This version is a shoal keel example with many options and a very extensive refit history. 1. CONSTRUCTION HULL CONSTRUCTION Hand laid glass fiber construction with isophthalic gelcoat backed by initial lay up of powder bound mat and isophthalic resin. HULL FINISH Grey hull with cove line and boot top lines in white (AwlCraft 2000 / done in 2018). DECK CONSTRUCTION Balsa cored sandwich construction for increased panel stiffness and optimum weight distribution. Hull stiffened by bonded in bulkheads plus frames and stringers. Underwater sections from stem to keel further stiffened by utilising an Aramid (Kevlar) laminate to increase impact resistance. DECK FINISH Teak laid decks, deck edge incorporated raised bulwark with cap rail. Teak deck still in good condition, since boat spent most of his life in the UK. KEEL Shoal keel version with approximately 1,80 cm depth STERN DESIGN Transom includes hydraulic hinging transom door/swimming platform with folding boarding ladder. 2. DECK LAYOUT AND EQUIPMENT ANCHOR 35kg stainless-steel U-Bolt anchor, 90 metres calibrated high end Cromox duplex stainless-steel chain from 2021. WINDLASS Lewmar Concept 3, 24V. DECK ACCESS Midship gateway stanchions. Gate to pushpit. HATCHES Drop down washboard system for main companionway. Lewmar alloy-framed deck hatches (all plexi parts replaced in 2018). Lewmar alloy-framed port lights (all plexi parts replaced in 2018). CANVASWORK Folding sprayhood top to windscreen; folding bimini center area; folding bimini aftdeck; roll-up sun-cover front deck; white mash blinds side protection and rear protection against wind, rain and visibility; front deck sun mattress; cockpit seat cushions; cover for all winches; cover for anchor windlass; cover for gangway; cover for liferaft, cover for hatches, winter cover for entire cockpit incl. windscreen; steering wheel and table cover; cover for deck house side windows; All fabrics made of Wheatermax 80 cloth and produced by OneSails UK in 2018. HOT WATER From an insulated 70 litres tank heated by the engine’s heat exchanger, the Eberspacher heating or by the thermostatically controlled 240V, 1kW immersion heater element powered by the generator or dockside power. PRESSURISED HOT AND COLD FRESHWATER SYSTEM Marco heavy duty pump (new in 2021) HOLDING TANK The Holding tank discharges through an electric macerator, which is mounted under the saloon floor, or via a deck pump out. There is a Wema gauge to each WC. Toilets are each fitted with a heavy duty ‘Y’ valve (new 2021) to allow discharge to the holding tank or directly overboard.
