New boat listing search engine

  • Add to quote

Yachtworld has really become a mess. You used to be able to put in all the parameters for an advanced search, which could include ranges for price, length, geographic area, even manufacturer, if you like. Then you could save those and get an email, whenever there was a new listing that met them. I still get some old search filtered emails that I set up years ago. However, the new software does not work. You try to access the "personal boat shopper" and it tells you there was an error and to contact the webmaster at address xxxx.com. That email gets rejected. More painfully, at some point, the new yachtworld site asked me if I wanted to see similar listings to whatever boat I was looking at. It was clearly a sailboat I was viewing. I said yes, even though, it wasn't a specific filter. All I've received since have been large ******** listings in a weekly advertisement email. Awful. Has anyone figured out another way to have a search engine find new internet listing of boats, based on given criteria? The best stuff gets tied up quickly.

I get the feeling they are deliberately making the (free) public access area of Yachtworld less user-friendly. When we were working with a broker in buying our boat the version of Yachtworld he was using was far more polished, and had far more data available. He could even search historical sales data on a given model. I think they are trying to steer people to brokers. We have seen the same thing happen to Realtylink, a site we used to monitor real-estate prices. It used to be very easy to use, now the public access part is broken! Sent from my SM-G981W using Tapatalk

I'm accustom to final sales data being behind a pay wall. However, I don't see the advantage of driving the consumer to a broker to do the window shopping. When you find a listing you like, you still have no other way to see the boat than to contact the broker. I will contact the listing broker. Do you think they are trying to get you to deal with only one broker? Not sure there is a net advantage for anyone by doing that. BTW, I have first hand info from a YBAA member that it's a dirty little secret that final sales price is not always accurate. Some want a bigger number put out there for ego purposes. In other cases, brokers want to boost the value of other similar sales.

My bad... try www.yachtworld.co.uk .. Didn't see you tried that already, it used to be the old format ... they probably caught up with the "new and improved web page", shame , it worked well for a while ...now what am I supposed to do at work?

Hey, I received this email today: As a Personal Boat Shopper user, you know how important it is to stay on top of the market - especially when you're in search of that perfect boat with just the features you want. So, we're excited to introduce the new & improved alert service, Search Alerts. In the coming months, Personal Boat Shopper will be replaced by Search Alerts , which are designed to deliver an even better experience. Therefore, any saved searches you have created in Personal Boat Shopper will no longer be available or active. But, don't worry! To continue receiving email notifications for your existing searches, simply set up new Search Alerts here . When new listings are available that match your search criteria, YachtWorld's Search Alert service will send them to your inbox each week. --- So maybe things will get better? Barry

As someone who has been looking to buy a bot for the last 6 months, yachtworld has been crap. 90% of what is list is already sold, under contract or they just don't reply. The boat I am looking to buy I found through FB marketplace. Now my budget isn't a 100k sailboat so maybe my sub 30ft market is underserved but yeah, of the 20+ boats I have tried to inquire about, I have had 3 response all mentioning that they where already under contract. Not a single showing. Maybe a little jaded

Not sure how you reached out to the listing broker on Yachtworld. Emails definitely don't work. I don't know why they even list the option, because too much junk/tirekicker goes through them, so they are dominantly ignored. Phone calls are not absolute, but the only way to get a response. I'm sure I'm 9 out of 10 replies, when I call. First thing I do is establish that I'm a serious buyer, with the ability to buy what I'm calling about. You need to get their attention. I stopped using the email inquiry box it was so dismal. As to the remaining Search Alert bug, I thought I'd click on the "website issues" link and let them know you can't set up a Search Alert, unless something currently meets the criteria. As previously, that link is bad, so you can't reach out with suggestions. For example, I wanted to be alerted, if a Passport 58/61 came on the market. There have only been a few ever made, so its infrequent. Can not set that up, with none currently there. I've set up others that do exist, but inventory hasn't changed, so I can't say it actually works yet. I'm suspicious that the above YW email (which I got the next day) says it's coming soon, but it actually exists on the site now.

I find that the best link for the Yachtworld UK site is Advanced Boat Search -https://www.yachtworld.co.uk/advanced-boat-search/

I don't see the advanced search function on Yachtworld. Did they move it or delete? How do I waste hours on the computer without this??

Well I just bookmarked that one. i am guessing that I must have single handedly taken down their servers with my incessant boat searches. I was completely lost without that function. Thank you for the link!!!!

I noticed a week or so ago, when I opened to the Yachtworld site, I got the generic search engine. When I clicked on that I got some filters but they are way "clunky" compared to advanced search. For example, searching for a trawler in the PNW, wanting Washington Oregon or BC I could only access one at a time. Don't know why "advanced search" went away.

IronZebra

It looks like they are trying to make all the advance filters available all the time. Problem that I run into is that some of the filters now won't let you select multiple choices (ie can only search one State at a time). I tried using ctrl-click (for multi-choice) but in only holds the last thing clicked Also the new choices do not include regions (multiple states) in the filters. Glad to have the link to get around their new face and back to my old familiar advanced search.

Thanks all...happy to know I am not the only one spending time looking at boats!

Yeah, so the worst web site on the planet gets worse. These folks are just grotesquely incompetent. For years now, using this site on an iPad has been next to impossible. If you dare touch the screen on a boat image, the image area goes white. It’s just incredible. Have these idiots never heard of an iPad? Could they test their ancient, pathetic code on an iPad? Of course not. The astonishing part is how much money is at stake here. The Boat Group and the brokers share a marketplace of billions, yet us poor folks who spend the cash get treated like crap. I believe that this POS has caused me to give up on several potential transactions. But whatever. Clearly they don’t give a rat’s behind.

  • Oct 3, 2019

Yeah, it wasn't broke, so they decided to fix it. And as usually happens when some boob decides to do that, they made it much, MUCH worse!

The ability to look at 50 boats per page has also disappeared. It seems to be about getting you to display as many pages as possible, each with different advertisements. More clicks more revenue... Pretty sad as it was the go to site.

The advanced link to the .com site is now redirecting to all listings. The .co.uk link above still works. Annoying.

Well I'm sure glad I'm not the only addicted boat porn guy around. The kids call my boat and car looking dad's porn many years ago. As for Yachtworld the new version sucks. Perfect example of something that works so let's improve it. The comments are right on we the people who search for boats are just not important. Chuck defever 49 RPH Northern Exposure

If you think Yachtworld Treats the Boating Viewers bad then... If you think YachtWorld treats the boating viewers badly, you should be on the profesional side, BoatWizard. In the past 2 years there have been over 12 price increases to the "members" that list the boats on their site! (Some have been in the form of reducing services: less service, same price. They say that is NOT a price increase! Besides a basic "membership" for 10 boats they are now charging for the size of the vessel and price! I guess it costs more to show a higher price vessel! They are also claiming the "rights and ownership" to all of the pictures videos and information we post on the site. They also resell any and all of the lead information when a you send an email the and the phone calls are recorded. They are driving the smaller firms out of business with their predatory pricing. There is also suspicion in the industry they are sharing the information with larger firms. Also notice the difference to the European Market as the search defaults are "meters, liters' and Euros. The CYBA (California Yacht Brokers Association) has had meeting with them and a senior representative from their company said they do not care and will keep raising prices as high as they can. More of the California firms are now migrating to their organization controlled site https://www.yatco.com/ "YATCO.COM" where there is no ads, data mining or reselling of your information.

I sent YW two notes - not one response. What used to take minutes, now takes many more minutes - too many in fact. We're looking for a bot, but we're not shopping for a boat. If one comes along, we're ready to sniff but now with this "new and improved" feature, sniffing is a lot harder. Brokers - if you care, let YW know the BUYING customer base is not happy and that you're not getting as much value for your money..

Someone said the English version of the Advanced Search still works, I just used it ok. I can’t understand how they can screw it up this much. Why don’t the brokers burn up their phone lines? Eventually they will screw up the English version and then it will be useless. What will I do for my boat porn???

  • Oct 12, 2019

The executives of "BOATS GROUP" ( YachtWorld, Boattrader, Boats.com and a few others) have clearly stated publicly in meetings with the broker organizations "WE REALLY DON'T CARE About the brokers, that pay for the site". So if they don't care for or listen to those that pay to keep their site up, why would they care about those that view it? They seem to forget that we generate the content that they sell the ads on. The trend now is for brokers to move all of their listing over to the YATCO site.

I looked at Yatco. Looks ok, maybe. It will take a bit of getting used to and all the listings aren’t there yet. Hopefully brokers will transition so it will get better with feedback.

I have tried several searches on Yatco. Not a very user friendly search. As far as I can tell you can’t select multiple locations or multiple types of boats and you have to do a search before it will let you refine a search, similar to Advanced Search on Yachtworld. I went to their feedback page and typed in about 15 minutes of typing, I am not a fast typer, and it wanted me to verify that I am not a robot. Did that and the check box checked good, then it said I didn’t do the robot and the page locked up... Maybe they really don’t want feedback after all. Although it does say they want feedback. Maybe someone else will have better luck with it.

Maybe even though the site said that my feedback didn’t go through it actually did. I got a reply this morning that they were looking at implementing some of the suggestions that I sent in. Suggest that everyone give them feedback about getting an Advanced Search similar to Yachtworld. If Yatco is going to be the new go to site for boat porn then we need a much better search function. At least they responded overnight even on a Saturday.

I know, 1st World problem, but it's an annoyance. Has anyone tried the Advanced Search feature on Yachtworld recently? As far as I can tell it's completely gone and replaced by a rather clumsy interface that doesn't easily allow one to narrow down search parameters by region or date listed.

I was thinking it was just because I was using my phone. Is that the case with a computer also? That would be very irritating!

Appears the back door method of searching on YW using United Kingdom as the region to have the old search functions has come to an end. I like to search the Sportfish market and look at all makes in a specific price range. Pretty useful feature. Unfortunate it was removed from the US functionality a couple years ago and it seems just in the last week in other regions. Anybody have ideas on how to perform this type of search currently?

You can perform all the same old functions just by going on in and then using the filters. They will annoy you greatly at first, but then you'll adjust. I hated the change when it all happened but now think nothing of it at all. In fact, I stopped backdooring with the UK version long ago. Just click on search and then on the top left of the results page, go to filters. If you want to save search criteria, then just use your browser bookmarks.
