The 54-foot model from Yellowfin Yachts raises the bar in terms of what buyers can expect from a center console boat. Available with quad or quint outboard power, the 54 will provide the same exemplary level of stepped-hull performance that has made Yellowfin an industry leader with previous models, but the 54 takes things to a new level. Double row seating provides plenty of space for passengers and crew to ride comfortably, and a massive helm area affords excellent visibility and space for three 24-inch displays. A spacious cabin area with standup headroom beneath the console houses a full queen berth, a fully equipped kitchenette, along with wraparound seating and a head. But hardcore fishing features abound as well, including 150 gallons of livewell capacity that can be configured as one massive well or split into two 75-gallon wells. There's also a huge, transverse fish box in the cockpit sole with over 800 quarts of capacity. A diesel generator comes standard, and major options include a bow thruster, a Quick dynamic stabilizer, and numerous hardtop/tower possibilities. The 54 offers big-boat fishing capabilities combined with a high level of creature comforts, all delivered with the style, stepped-hull performance and efficiency, and quality construction so unique to Yellowfin.

No bail for woman accused of selling drugs that led to fatal overdose

A woman locked up since the beginning of the year in connection with a drug sale that authorities say led to a death recently went before a judge hoping for a chance to post bond. The judge denied the request.

Here's a look at what happened in that case and one other that was heard the week of Aug. 19.

State v. Jodie Ann Overholser

Judge: Circuit Judge Lisa Herndon.

Lawyers: Jack Maro, private attorney, and Assistant State Attorneys Amy Berndt and Lillian Rozsa.

About the case: Overholser was arrested in late January and accused of selling drugs to Austin Taylor Roberson, 23, of Ocala, who later overdosed and died. A convicted felon, the 51-year-old woman from Fort McCoy was present in court on Aug. 21 with her lawyer.

Why was Overholser in court? Her lawyer had filed a motion asking the judge to set bail. Oveholser has been held without bail since her arrest.

What arguments were made in court? Berndt told the judge Overholser was identified as the person who gave drugs to the victim through cellphone, text messages and other records obtained by law enforcement officials from the Marion County Sheriff's Office and Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team officials, who were investigating Roberson's death.

The prosecutor said Overholser knew the fentanyl provided to Roberson was bad because she told him two other people had died from the drug.

Maro said law enforcement officials have no proof that Overholser sold fentanyl to the victim. He said there were other items and bags found in the victim's vehicle that were not tested.

What was the outcome? The judge, who also heard testimony from witnesses called by prosecutors, declined to set bail for Overholser, citing the state's compelling case.

What's next for Overholser? Prosecutors told the judge they're ready for trial. A pre-trial conference has been set for December.

Judge: Circuit Judge Tim McCourt.

Lawyer: Court records show Eric J. Evilsizer, a private attorney from Inverness, was Schwartz's lawyer.

Charge: Travel to meet a minor after use of computer to lure child and transmission of harmful material to minor.

When was Schwartz in court? On Aug. 20, when he pleaded no contest to the charges.

What was his sentence? Thirty months in prison and 24 months of probation. He has 458 days of credit for time already served at the Marion County Jail awaiting resolution of this case, according to court records.

Any special conditions for probation? While on probation, Schwartz must abide by a 10 p.m.- 6 a.m. curfew, cannot live within 1,000 feet of a school, playground, park or place where children gather, must register as a sexual offender, and must undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation and complete all recommended treatment within 90 days.

Why was Schwartz arrested? The 42-year-old was one of many men taken into custody by law enforcement officials last year in a sting operation targeting adults who went online trying to arrange sex with minors. The operation was called MAP, or Minor Attracted Persons.

Man distraught over planned sale of late mother’s home fatally shoots 4 family members, himself

A man shot his four family members before turning the gun on himself in New York, police say, after becoming distraught over the sale of his late mother's home. One of the victims was a Tampa woman.

MINEOLA, N.Y. - A New York man distraught that he was being forced to move from his late mother’s home shot and killed four of his family members before taking his own life, police said Monday.

Joseph DeLucia, Jr. and his family had gathered shortly before noon on Sunday in his mother’s home in Syosset, about 15 miles east of New York City on suburban Long Island, just three days after laying the matriarch to rest.

But instead of discussing the planned sale of the home, where DeLucia Jr. had lived his entire life, the 59-year-old fired 12 rounds from a shotgun he’d obtained, killing his three siblings and a niece, according to Nassau County Police Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick.

DeLucia then walked out to the front lawn of the cul-de-sac street "shouting indiscriminately" about what he had just done before turning the gun on himself, police said.

The victims were Joanne Kearns, 69, of Tampa , Florida; Frank DeLucia, 64, of Durham, North Carolina; and Tina Hammond, 64, and her daughter Victoria Hammond, 30, both of East Patchogue, also on Long Island.

Fitzpatrick added that other surviving family members told police that the family had assured DeLucia, Jr. he would be provided for and wasn’t being cut out of the will, but he had to move out of the house.

The family had gathered at the house ahead of a meeting with a local real estate agent, he said.

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said police learned only after the shooting that there were concerns in the community that DeLucia might harm himself or others as he had been emotional and distraught following his mother’s death and did not want to be forced out of his home.

Using so-called "red flag" laws, police could have potentially interceded and prevented DeLucia from obtaining a firearm if they were made aware he was dealing with mental health issues, he said.

"These are things that are disturbing to us as law enforcement that we open so many avenues to ask us for help," Ryder said. "We are asking our communities to not sit back. Be our eyes, be our ears and let us know what is happening."

Fitzpatrick said police were still looking into reports DeLucia, Jr. had past mental health issues.

The only time police had been called to the residence in recent years was for a wellness check, and there had been no signs DeLucia, Jr. was a danger at the time. His lone arrest was for driving under the influence back in 1983, he said.

DeLucia, Jr., who worked as a local auto mechanic, was also a hoarder and the house was packed with tools and other car repair items, Fitzpatrick added.

"We’re not saying this incident could have been averted, but maybe it could have," he said.
